Not sure if you are still wondering, but yes, this is normal unfortunately. I've gone as far as setting up a Tasker profile to get around it.

Don't really see the big deal

Can you share your Tasker profile?
Sent from my Pixel 2 XL using XDA Labs

Don't know but mine is silly loud on alarms and tones.

Sound definitely comes out of both speakers during incoming calls and notifications. However, when choosing a sound in the settings, it does only come from the bottom speaker.

I have attached my prj.xml I have literally never shared a Tasker project so I hope this is sufficient! If you have any questions, let me know! Just remember to set the ringtone in Android settings to "none".

Sure thing! If you haven't already, you're going to want to download the tasker app. Once you've installed that, open it and (like the previous post mentioned) go to its preferences and disable "beginner mode" under the "general" section. Then go back to the main screen and long press on the home icon in the bottom left corner. Tap "import" and then navigate to wherever you downloaded my profile and click on it. That should import the project. Once the project is imported, you should see "Phone Ringtone" next to the home icon on the main Tasker screen. Tap on that and it should bring up 4 profiles. At the top, tap on the tab that says "Tasks" and that should bring up a list of 4 tasks. Tap on the one labeled "Play Ringtone" then click on "Music Play". To the right of "File", tap the icon that looks like a magnifying glass, then navigate to the file you want to use as your ringtone. After that, make sure all the profiles are enabled on the main screen, then go to Android settings and set your ringtone to "None" so you won't have a ringtone AND music playing each time someone calls you. Hope this helps!

As I commented in another thread, I imported this project, made a test call to my cell phone with Google Voice/Hangouts from my PC, and it works and sounds great! Thanks again!

I believe there is an actual issue here.
If you play music and have the notification selection for SMS or phone calls open, and pause the music and select a notification or ringtone, it will play from both speakers and be loud and sound great.
If you play it again, it will suddenly only play from the bottom speaker. If this is intended, it's not a good decision in my opinion. It's way too quiet.

so this XML fixes the issue and makes ringtone play via both speakers?
because i rooted my phone, didnt find a solution, restored back to stock. just want to make sure this works, to go through the rooting proccess again,.

[Solved][CM10] Ehnhanced Notifications Disabled

Hello everyone
I've switched from CM7 on my old Nexus One to Galaxy Nexus and CM9, which was updated later to CM10.
I know everyone will tell me I've done a wrong thing, but I restored my whole phone apps/configuration from my old phone using TitaniumBackup: I have to say except for 1-2 apps, it worked just as I wished.
After few days of CM10 and watching other phones around me, I found out that Enhanced Notifications are already enabled in the nightlies, but they seem to be disabled on mine!
At this point I'm looking for some advice for enabling this feature. For sure, factory reset is the fastest option, but I will forget about the enhanced notifications rather than going through the whole factory reset thing.
I really don't need the full instructions here. A very brief hint can do the trick for me.
Thanks
Is it a specific to any one app or all of them? Because not many apps actually support enhanced notifications yet. Gmail is one that does.

Honestly, I never had the enhancements on my phone, so I don't know for sure on which apps they should appear.
Gmail gives long notifications (some content of the email), but no buttons. I think this is it for now.
But for missed calls for example, there should be some buttons, which are missing.
You mean the issue refers to phone app? nice idea. but I don't know whether phone app is not sending them, or notification bar doesn't receive.
Can you introduce me some app with the same feature support, so I can test?

Gmail isn't supposed to have buttons, just long message preview. The expanded notifications aren't always expanded. Drag down on it with 2 fingers. It should have buttons for a missed call.
Easiest way to check expandable notifications is to take a screenshot.
It's a huge shame for me that I didn't know this double finger trick.
thanks a lot

I think it just depends on if you've got other notifications already showing. If you've got none it should default to expanded.

(Q) Any way to have screen come on for kik messages?

Me and my girlfriend started using kik because she gets bad signal in her house.. And I was wondering is there anyway to mod it to where the screen will come on when you recieve a message?

there might be a way to use a tasker script to do it. I wouldn't know where to begin on trying to mod the apk to make that work.

Man, this is new territory for me. I bought Tasker ages ago but never really played with it. It really is powerful! Anyways, I'm trying to figure this out for you and I think I have something that'll work here. Let me describe what I've got so far and we can see if it works with you.
There is a plugin for Tasker called Secure Settings. Install that, 'cause you can't use the Tasker "ScreenOn" task with 4.1.X or 4.2.X ROMs.
When you're in Tasker, under the "Tasks" tab, click on the plus sign (bottom middle).
Type in a name you want to use for the task (I chose "Screen On").
Click on the blue plus sign to add an action. Click on the "Plugin" button, then on Secure Settings. Click on "edit" on the configuration section.
Choose "Wake Device." For the wake type, I cose Screen and Keyboard Lights On. For duration, that's more of your choice, but I'd say 10 seconds would give you plenty of time to see the screen light up.
Click on the floppy to save and bring you back to Tasker interface. Click on the check mark, then on the other check mark, and now you have a task called "Screen On."
Ok, now this is where I can't test this function, but you can see if it works for you. I don't have Kik, so I can't test this. but you do, so you can! What I'm doing is setting up Tasker to check for notifications for Kik; here's what I did to set it up:
First off, you need to enable Tasker's Accessibility Service in settings. Go to Settings --> Accessibility. In the Services section, you should see "Tasker - JB." Click on it and enable it.
Go back to Tasker, then to the Profiles Tab
Add new profile (plus sign at bottom middle)
Insert Name (I chose "Kik Starter")
Choose Event
Choose "Notification" under "UI"
Click on the Icon next to "Owner Application," then scroll and find Kik Messenger.
You can also click on Title. Modifying this will make sure the screen only turns on for GF1 and not GF2, you just have to see what Kik gives in terms of a notification message "New message from GF1" or whatever. If the notification text is the message itself "Ur so hot honey," you can't use this function to distinguish texts between people.
Now you choose which task you want this condition to invoke. Choose the "Screen On" task you created in the previous bullet-point list.
Save all the changes and you should be good to go.
Now, I got held up on the fact that the Tasker notification (which you can disable in settings) says "No Active Profiles." I tried toggling the various Tasker settings for about 20 minutes before I searched online (should always be my first solution to any problem). What I found in this XDA thread is the following:
Basically event based profiles will activate but won't stay activated , unlike non-event based profiles
Click to collapse
So that means that Event based profiles (like this one) aren't considered "active" in the same way that the "on from 2pm-4pm" profiles are active. It should still work (have your GF send a Kik message), but it won't show up as "active."
I really hope my instructions are easy to follow. I'm now going to try to think of more fun things to do with Tasker.

[Xposed mod] SMS In Ringer Stream

SMS in Ringer Stream - Changes SMS audio stream of notifications from 'notification' to 'ringer'
================
This was made for Samsung Galaxy S3 and tested on it. It should work on other phones, but I can't be sure. I don't held any responsibility for any damage you do on your phone.
The default SMS/MMS app has no option to set volume level for notifications and it uses the level set by the system to all notifications. I prefer to have it use the same level as the ringer so I made this mod to do it. This way I can have a low sound level for notifications, a normal sound level for ringer and hear not only incoming calls but also SMS/MMS.
This uses Xposed framework (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1574401)
After you have installed Xposed framework, install this app. After that, enable the mod inside Xposed Installer (you probably have a notification to do it, you can click it). Then reboot your phone (you can soft reboot inside Xposed Installer).
NOTE: This only works in default SMS/MMS app, others apps won't work.

Well, it can be done, but it's not the purpose of this mod. But source code is available, you just have to change what packages it hooks, it's really simple.

Check /data/data/de.robv.android.xposed.installer/log/debug.log for any error and report it here (or /xposed/debug.log if you aren't in latest Xposed). Also, how do you know it's not working? Have you tried making notifications silent and then receive a SMS and it didn't played?
It's great to notice one of my most needed mods this still works on kitkat 4.4.2
How about making an app that can change or set volume for all apps separatly?
Work like This:
add an app in it and set volume for that app
add facebook and set volume to 100%
add whatsapp and set volume to 60%
...
maybe an option to change notification sound for every apps too
.
is this possible at all?

+1 there are apps that let you put their sounds in another channel (my alarm clock app let me choose between alarm channel and phone call channel) so maybe it is possible to create an app that let us decide in wich channel a sound is played so we can put different volumes in each channel ?
I would love to be able to have some notifications (for example facebook) sound silent while other more important apps (for example mail) make more sound
Something like this for the navigation voice in maps would be awesome. It drives me nuts when listening to music at a low volume that the nav voice can't be heard.

About setting different volumes I'm not sure, but I think that it may be possible, you have to change the volume every time a notification is going to be played. But I won't be doing it, I don't have time and more importantly I don't need it - and I hate working for no purpose.

That is a different thing, you aren't talking about a notification sound, so it requires a different method than this module. But I think it would be possible.

I could not figure out to compile on pc, but I got it to compile on tablet with "AIDE" from the store. Unfortunately it didn't work.

Any thoughts on how to proceed?

Hi arjag,
I can't help you. What I can do is recommend that you read http://www.xda-developers.com/andro...reate-your-very-own-xposed-module-in-eclipse/ and http://www.xda-developers.com/android/easily-configure-xposed-module-projects-in-eclipse/
Also there is the possibility that the app you want to use works in another way, I don't know.

Notifications sound ... Bug or missing feature?

So its new phone day (well its day 3) and i have problems i hope you have solutions. So the old phone (also running pie) ment i could change my text tone (tone1) facebook notifications (tone 2).
So i now have tone one as the default tone but it now is every tone on the phone, so easy go in the app and change it. Except messages does not have a sound option for notification.
Not to worry i think i can just change facebooks sound ....nope that don't have a sound for notification section ... ah i think i can turn facebook sound off .... i only need to see the notification in the shade ... nope facebook doesn't have that either ... any advice?
Thanks in advance
