Have you installed this yet did it have any negative effects. I have this pending and didn't want to install blind.

Installed last night and no issues here.
Battery life seems really good to me so far.
2.5 hours SOT and still 75% battery left.
Nearly 6 hours since charge....
BT NFC and Wi-Fi all on (SOT spent browsing via 4G)

Update has settled in and battery life seems to be fine.. On the whole, looks like a good update.. Noticed the on screen keys stay white in more apps which helps to prevent screen burn... This was a noticable improvement as it didn't seem to happen in the previous update..

Will the International variant get the forced update?

Does any one with the international variant have the forced update yet? I'm curious because I hear it may improve battery life and as mine is quite poor I'm very interested in getting the update!

I'm in the same boat. Hopefully we get it soon.
Is there a changelog for this update? Cause I've seen people post about it but I can't find any info from LG.
I'm using the international version and I want better battery and screen responsiveness.. and nog lag while browsing..

after updating to 2.19.40

i got rid of most of the problems regarding the 2.18....and before....
WHAT I LIKE-
1. the network has got more stable
2. the phone app doesn't bugs anymore by popping up
3. the speakers have a slight increase in loudness (i might be wrong)
4. the whole ui is more smoother
5. the phone doesn't heats like it used to be....just slight on heavy usage
6. charging speed has improved
????
WHAT I DON'T LIKE-
1.the phone app doesn't bugs, but the other apps like 9gag and facebook pop ups even after closing ??
2. the ram usage has increased i think to improve performance ☺
3.the battery stability and power has deproved
4. no sign of 5.1.1 coming soon ,even 5.1 will do the job but asus is not making it yyyyyyyyy????????
the phone is improving and i think soon all these will be got rid of ...and i will recommend it over any flagship under $300 like one plus , mi 4
samsung is really a piece of sh*t and crappiest thing i have used ...to all the readers don't buy if u want seamless performance for atleast two years ...after a year ,S5 got sluggish and ****ty like any samsung even s6 is crap
i love my zenny i have made few themes iron man and batman theme .... i will upload after some days along with wolverine , x men and avengers themes ...????
and soon there will be cyanogenmod ....I'm lovin it???????
I'm glad you have seen positive change with the update. The only thing I don't want with the update is I lost the loudness specially the bass when using my headphones. Have you tried yours? Btw, upload those themes! ??

Yeah. Before, I've been using the music selection from the AudioWizard menu with great bass. But after updating to 2.19, it went bad and used the Movie selection instead.

Lg g4 marshmallow

Hi guys is the OS update to marshmallow going to help with battery life? Especially SOT? If so by how much do you believe?
Sent from my LG-H815 using Tapatalk
You will get 27 hours screen on time and 7 weeks of stand by time. Marshmallow will also solve world peace.
When you wake up from fantasy land you still have to debloat and use better battery stats to find what is draining your battery. Amazing that you create so many threads for the same issue but don't take the advice given.

I don't understand how people have bad battery life. I get 20-26hrs up time with 4 hra screen time, on average.
Sent from my LG-H815 using Tapatalk
Those who don't, usually has an app that is running amok

Standby time doesnt mean much. Its the SOT that matters. A phone is no good if the screen cant turn on because your battery is dead after 2 hours of screen on time. I wonder what kind of impact marshmallow is going to have. I doubt it would solve the problem
Sent from my LG-H815 using Tapatalk
I wonder why you refuse to learn what is truly causing the battery drain? Most of us get 3 to 4 hours and are quite happy. You just expect the answer to magically appear

Just migrate to Genisys ROM. The dev has done an incredible job on optimization. I was dealing with 2 hours SoT and with Genisys + mods by myself I got almost hours (in general 3~5 hours depending on brightness and used apps).
Indeed you have to listen to advice given by @tdevaughn there's no point for members to create multiple threads deprecating SoT if you don't even handle the problem.

I am busy downloading it now as I have heard that the battery is good on it. I am keen to try it out. How long does it take on the G4 to stabilise after wiping and flashing a new ROM? I have only just started to do the wiping etc but I have had the phone since July I have the international H815P variant if that makes any difference.
Freshly installed with few apps I got 5+ hours. Now with 30+ apps and 'normal' use it's about 3-4 hours SoT. Still good.
I'd say it takes a few days for overall system to have stable stats.

Oh mate realy?...Nobody say no or yes yet.If rolling out need minimum 2 weeks....This situaton only speculation now...

The evil here
To give a more serious reply from what I have read about Marshmallow they have put a lot of work into "Doze" which should boost standby time a fair bit at least for those that don't use apps like Greenify. So indirectly you might get a boost in SOT as you wont lose as much battery while the phone is idle. For people that are on their phone a lot I would expect no real improvement on screen on time. You can only so much with smart software when ultimately its a big power hungry device with only an okay sized battery.

Probably it will improve standby battery time, with "doze", and few more
IMHO G4 battery life is good right now
Hey everyone
I can confirm better standby time. 4% battery drain in 12 hours, which was under 5.1 ~10%. Can't say anything about Sot, because I have Marshmallow installed since yesterday. Good luck with gathering information

I want mocking the OP. I was just really saying I don't understand how people only have 1-2 hrs screen time. Plus at the time the OP made this thread there was already a dedicated thread to battery life. If you look at the Op's posts about 80% of them are about battery life.

He asks the same question in multiple threads over a 2 week period. Wouldn't take any suggestions given by countless people to help solve his problem, just wanted to complain. Sometimes the sarcasm is justified

I'll update and regen a kernel if things change sufficiently to give reason. Hang in a day or so.

I have downloaded this version, but the battery drain so fast. How I can solve this problem.
Yeah, battery drain is terrible. Going back to CPI3.

Hi, I will have this on AFH by the weekend. With the battery drain issues, many people won't want it, unless you do your "magic." I'll PM you and @amieldl143 when ready.

Glad to hear that others are also having battery issues with this update. Hope Sammy fixes this with the November security patch... this is totally unacceptable. Really don't want to root or flash new firmware.
New TAR file
I have posted here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/spr...uide-links-files-update-root-restore-t3366862
But before you jump on that, see the comments above about battery drain.
Has anyone gotten BetterBatteryStats and figured out what the battery drain issue is caused from?
Just wanted to report back that CPJ1 with the latest SkyHigh kernel has great battery for me. Thanks tdhite for your work on the kernel.

ATT Software Udate

I just got a notification on my ATT G6 that there is a software update. I wonder what issues it will address. Won't be able to update until later tonight.
Ooh hopefully T-mobile gets one too. How big of an update is it?

I'm on AT&T didn't get anything
I installed the update and haven't noticed anything different. When I launched the camera though it did act like it was the first use so maybe it was camera software related.

Mine got updated to, but before it was updated, my camera was perfectly fine, quality and everything was great, but now after the update, everything i take picture of is blurry and grainy which my camera never had before, even in really good lighting.

LG and att are officially 3 months behind Google monthly security patch updates. Even my father in-laws old note 4 is getting more regular security updates thru Verizon than this brand new device ! If I wasn't paying $15 a month for this i would have kept my G3. My Nexus player just got the June patch yesterday
Received an update tonight looks like a security update about 800mb I'm in eastern US
Force the update on my phone from the settings page just now. Download is 820MB. Quite a significant amount for a simple security patch
820MB here. Took forever to download. Servers are slow at 2mbps haha. Update brings us up to August security patch and LG software version 10m. Haven't noticed anything different yet except for a post boot warning asking me to not yank the battery on an unresponsive device. Hard reboot is a power + vol down button combo press & hold for 9 seconds
Phone idle battery drain bug is still present in August update
The phone idle drain bug is still here. It eats over 30% of battery over two days for me. Below is the version info from AT&T. 820MB seems like a lot for just security and baseband updates but the changelog is as always ambiguous and uninformative:
Release date: August 29, 2017
Android version: 7.0
Security patch level (SPL): August 1, 2017
Baseband version: MPSS.TH.2.0.1.c3.1-00014-M8996FAAAANAZM-1
Kernel version: 3.18.31
Build number: NRD90U
Software version: H87110m
File size: 820MB
What's changing: Network performance enhancements and Android device security updates
