Pitaka Case and Wireless Charging Dock for Car - AT&T Samsung Galaxy Note 8 Accessories

I was one of the lucky one who got the Pitaka case before they blew up in popularity and fell way behind on production.
By request I made a short video showing off the car and the Charging dock.
If anyone has any questions about it feel free to ask.

Yeah, it looks great. Too bad they are sold out completely. Thanks for the vid review

S8 is so beautiful
It looks better with the case on it
Thanks for your sharing

I just got my case a few days ago. Expensive, but it's a GREAT case. Super thin, it's smooth but not NEAR as slick as the bare phone. I might pick up the Qi mount for my car soon too

Anywhere it covers is protected. That being said it offers no coverage for the screen if your phone landed face down it wouldn't help at all.

I picked up the care Qi Mount a couple months back. The phone holds REALLY well, but the charging does seem to activate/deactivate often when I'm driving. It's nothing super bad, but it does it. I've tried to re-position the phone, but it still does does it. Overall I'm SUPER happy with both the case and mount.

I also verified that this case wont be created for the Note 9. Pitkata said there wasnt enough demand for it

Low Profile Car Mount

I don't take credit for the video but I found THIS low profile car mount that's made for the iPhone and works just as well for the EVO. HERE it is at Amazon.
i really like this! it looks classy. plus the phone seems more secure in the cradle then in some of the other car-mount solutions i've seen. thanks for pointing this out!
I'm going to pick one up on payday and I'll see how good it is and give a report back.

I've had that one for a while. Very nice.
My only complaint is that in portrait mode I have knocked the phone out of it a couple times. It's plenty solid, it's just not that hard to flip the phone out of it.
Do you guys think there's any chance an Evo with the Seidio Innocase Active would fit in this?

The video has a quote that says it should work with thinner cases but not thick ones. I personally have a carbon fiber skin on mine and I'm pretty sure it will work as the guy in the video, his phone is naked. I don't know what differentiates a thick from a thin case but you could always order it and if it doesn't fit you could just say it doesn't fit and return it, but then you would have to eat the shipping cost. Your guess is as good as mine. Maybe someone will come on here that has a thick case and give his thoughts on the matter. Sorry I couldn't be more helpful.
Cheers...
EDIT: There is a comment below the video that say:
Unfortunately it does no work with one of those rubber-like cases. I tried with the one manufactured/distributed by HTC for the Evo and it would not fit in mount. There is still a slight chance that if it was in a thin hard case it might work.

Wow, finally installed this in my wife's Mazda 3 (vent mount) and it just rocks. Super sturdy in either portrait or landscape, easy to snap the EVO in and out. Thanks a bunch to the OP for the tip. Hard to beat this one for the quality, ease of use, and price.
I love this car mount, thanks for the tip.
Good to know guys. Now I'm going to order one. Thanks

Nice find. Thanks.
just ordered mine off Buy.com can't wait to get it.
main reason i want one is because it's a pain in the ass to hear my ringtone in a jeep with the top and doors off. it would be nice to see a call come in while driving.
Terax XWAY. Strong enough magnet to hold into the phone even with the ridiculous spension setup I have in my Integra. I love using it, and it's completely portable, like throw it in your pocket, take 5sec to put in in another car, and go.

Only vent mountable. There seems to be no goose neck for the windshield. This would not serve my purpose. Plus it seems a little bulky compared to the Kingston. It is also more expensive than the Kingston. No thanks... I'll stick with the Kingston.

And it would mess with the compass apps and we'd have to stick something on the Evo
Just thought I'd chime in and report how it works with the Seidio Innocase Surface II.
The phone with case on fits fine. The issue is because of the added 2-3 mm of thickness and the smooth feel of the Innocase, it makes it infinitely easier for the phone to slip out of the mount. I haven't had it fall out on me since I always keep my phone in the landscape position while in my car but it will slip if you drive over bumps while its in portrait.
I'm looking into getting some kind of rubber tape so I can make the grip the mount has on the phone a bit more tacky.
I finally ordered this mount and when I get it I'll see about doing a small video review so as to let everyone know what it's like. It's made for the iPhone and wouldn't you know it, EVO is stealin' the show once again. LOL Man I like my EVO. It's such a kick ass phone. Now with an awesome low profile car mount I can finally use it with Google Navigation point-to-point and not have to keep looking down at it while it's laying on the passenger seat.
Cheers...

[Q] Motorola Xoom Portfolio Case

I have seen the new accessories released from Motorola, but I think that the Portfolio Case just looks hideous. Has anyone seen a portfolio case similar to the official Apple iPad case (http://www.bestbuy.com/site/Apple®+-+iPad™+Case/1271742.p?id=1218246670763&skuId=1271742)?
Thanks in advance.
EDIT: While doing my research on the portfolio case and reading your comments, I have been thoroughly convinced to wait on the case soon to be released by zoogue in March of 2011. There is a youtube video on it. It looks pretty good. It is made of leather and allows you to view at nearly any angle due to the use of velcro.

The one that my friends have on their ipads don't tilt and have the viewing angles. That feature is a necessity to me
Sent from my Evo using Tapatalk
Ok, just purchased my Xoom and Moto Portfolio case. Have to say I'm disappointed with the case. Seems like Moto didnt fully think this one out. The build quality is very good and does what it says. Issues are:
1. You cannot charge the Xoom and have it in one of the viewing setups like monitor. In other words you cannot charge and work with a BT keyboard.
2. You cannot charge the device while the portfolio is closed. It has to be opened to access any of the ports
3. Folding the case back covers the on/off button.
4. Edges are hard plastic and seem like they'll leave wear marks on your Xoom after a while.
I got it too, and it's pretty lame. As mentioned above, you can't charge the device while it's propped up. That's the biggest WTF.
I see it as a very temporary solution. I want the tablet in some sort of protective gear, but as soon as something better comes along, I'm sending it to ebay.
you guys are being polite, the portfolio case blows.
the bottom corners have these nubs that jut out and are supposed to 'grip' the bottom, but they don't, and it generally just feels like they didn't actually have the full dimensions of the product before this was manufactured.
I even got out a xacto and cut these nubs off, hoping it would fit better, but it still pretty much sucks. Going to take it back, nubs gone or not. It's a shame because I want a fold back cover just in case I drop this, but this is NOT what I had in mind.
its kinda ok for me (for now) till hopefully otterbox comes out with a case for it. as atoy74 said, it sucks coz it has no opening or something for charging and syncing while closed.
The case really is a piece of crap. I'm constantly worried about the little nubs permanently scratching the Xoom's body and it doesn't close comfortably either. Getting the Xoom out of the case is a pain in the ass too because you're again worried about the body being scratched. It's also a lot heavier than I expected and adds a noticeable amount of weight. Also, not being able to charge while tilting is ridiculously stupid. I was looking forward to using this because of the nice tilting options, one of the few things Motorola got right with this case, but using it has me on the lookout for better alternatives.
i wish i read this before buying it. The case sucks squid ballzzzz
I really like the case. The charging issues you guys mentioned exist because this is a tablet, and is meant to be docked.
My issue is that when I close it.. I feel like I'm going to break a nail opening it. It should have a tab to open it up. Though the price is perhaps a little high for what it is.
never mind I love this case its perfect
This cases is indeed bad. They used way to much plastic. I'll be keeping my eye out for a nice third party case.

What the hell are you talking about? I have owned an Ipad, Galaxy Tab and now the Xoom. I've never had this problem before and I've always used portfolio style cases. Access to the unit's ports should always be accessible and I shouldnt have to buy a $50 dock to do that.

Protective Case Terrible design
Hello All , I have to agree on all point the case is not planed out right . What the HELL I can't charge and close the unit . The unit is awesome, but until someone finds a third party case protector what else can we do or does anyone have another idea or approach to protect their investment.
when you lay the xoom in the case flipped it directs the speaker sound towards you. Most flip cases make it hard to use the device with all of its accessories. The case gives excellent protection and makes watching movies awesome.

I'm not saying the case doesn't have its strong points. But, the negatives are huge. This morning I already noticed wear marks on my Xoom where the plastic tabs rub. COME ON, it's only been 24 hours. There's no justification for a $40 device to reduce the value of a $800 one.
I can't wait for third party cases to start arriving. I've had wonderful experiences with Encase, Scosche, Seidio and Macally. Hopefully they'll have something soon-ish.
I think the case the OP was talking about is the OEM ipad case. I do like it and wish there was one like for the xoom.

Just decided to hop in as I am working with some third party people to either 'get' or develop some accesories for the Xoom. I've been working with them for several months now on accessories for the gTab and it seems to have truned into a pretty solid relationship.
Im hoping to be able to get a few things for the Xoom owners. As SOON as I have get any word I'll keep you posted as well as list something in the 'marketplace' (have to be potically correct )

[Q] Stand Smart Slim Leather Case Cover

Anyone has this/tried it?
Stand Smart Slim Leather Case Cover
Looks pretty decent to me and i'm thinking of getting it, was wondering if anyone had any experience with it.
i ordered one, this week, i will report as soon as i get it!
I just did as well, the silver version ;D
How will the smart cover part of that case stay on the tablet when covering the screen?
It does look good, waiting for your reviews of this case.
I got the black one about a week ago..it takes 2-3 weeks for china stuff to arrive
Sent from my GT-P7510 using xda premium
Lordwinkevin whats your review then? and what of the screen cover, does it "lock" in any way?
This is by far the best designed case you can get for the Tab10. All the other cases have ridiculously huge foot prints when in a stand mode.
The part of the case that covers the back looks cheap, seems there is a white colored plastic trim piece on it.
I would love to see some better quality pics of this case, the seller's pics are not revealing enough.
hmm i just ordered it couple of days ago... mine's shipping from HK... hopefully faster?
Ive had mine for over a week. This case is heavier than my tab! its essentially a cheap piece of plastic cover for the back and a microfiber suede material for the flap. Which is the heavy part ironically. It contains four pieces of some kind of heavy metal and a small magnet. Be carefull when closing it because I was scared that it might break my screen upon impact. And there isnt any way of it staying closed. It just flaps open if turned around. Ive already received a refund for mine. Now I just use the case as a weapon. The last thing a thief will think when I pull that thing out is that I will hurt him but honestly that **** hurts like hell, lol.

So, any updates on this?
im waiting on mine as well...should come in any day now
Mine came in the mail today. I was going to do a youtube unbox but I have a crappy HP computer with windows 7 (no voice over in movie maker).
Anyway, I really like it like the case. It snaps on and off easily, has good cut outs and the plastic back adds a little stiffness to the tab. Love how light and thin the GTab is but it felt just a little too flexible. It also works well in portrait mode (how I use my tab most of the time) because it's foldable. It's more of a protector so I'm also using a Built 10 netbook sleeve that I picked up at staples for $10.
Cool, thx for the pics !
im still waiting on mine
Edit: Turns out it was waiting for me in the mail looks good, only thing is i asked for the silver one and i got the white, not really sure if i should complain or not, its not like im going to the "store" to return it hehe. Other then that, its cool and doesnt feel cheap at all
Just got mine today after seeing it discussed in this thread - glad I did, absolutely love it! Highly, high recommend this to anyone looking for a lightweight but durable case.
this cover looks beautiful with the tablet I think.
Hi guys,
Is the cover for the front able to stay closed, or is it not magnetic at all?
Im looking for a slim line cover/case and this looks nice, plus its an obvious apple cover rip off, which aint that bad.

I just bought this exact case from the same seller. Ordered it Monday night and got it today. Cant give an extensive review yet cause I just put it on, but first impressions follow:
It is a little slipperier than I had hoped. I wanted some friction:silly:
I like the way the top slides up to allow you to install the phone easily without putting pressure on the charging port.
fit and finish are pretty good in my opinion.
I think it would provide decent protection on the edges of the phone and the bottom, but will offer NO protection on the face of it.

I bought one of the 3200mah kickstand cases, and returned it the next day. The kickstand was flimsy plastic, the fit wasn't great, it was uncomfortable to hold, got so hot while charging I couldn't hold it, and to top it off even though it was supposedly 3200mah, it only charged my phone from 5% up to 42%, and lasted only 1 hour before dying. Total crap.

[Mini-Review] Winnergear Montar Universal Car Mount-Nexus 5

Winnergear asked me to do my mini-review on the Montar Universal car mount and I obliged . Being I do a lot of accessory reviews here to give back to the great XDA community, here is another one for ya. I know there's another thread about it, but I didn't want this post get buried in the thread so....
I got this yesterday and decided to do a day of testing before doing one of my reviews. I usually just pop the box open and post pretty much right away . But not this time! I was busy at work anyways lol.
First off, the box is the normal boxes that you see from time to time and it is a nice small frame box, but in transit, if not boxed, will be damaged in transit. The mount includes a mounting disk for your dash for even more sticky-ness. I already have one installed due to my old gps units.
When I first tried it out in the truck, I peeled off the protective cover of the adhesive sticky pad side, which is a lot like the Nexus Wireless charger backing. Once you feel it loses any tackyness, just wipe with a damp paper towl and it's magically refreshed. I placed it on my dash plate and it immediately stuck. Pushed down the lever to anchor it and this thing is not coming off! It will tear off my dash plate before coming off. Really impressive.
I currently have a Seidio Ledger flip case and was curious in how this universal would fare with it on. I thought, because of the grippy rubber red "teeth" it should grab and hold anything you throw at it. Was I right? Yep lol. Ok that is pretty cool. Using a flip case and placing the flap on the back or even have the hinge side of the case facing down and letting the cover flap open with gravity. Either way works and works well. The phone is not dropping from this device.
Before moving on, the base is nice and sturdy and the ball joint is maneuverable and can do a 360. Smooth operating. You just unscrew the area where the ball joint is and then adjust accordingly. What I usually do is just unscrew it just enough where it can move around pretty well and then when satisfied screw the joint adjuster until tight so the phone won't flop around. Another thing is that the grips open on both sides. So you can do a one handed mount. I have not perfected the one handed dismount yet, but that's fine lol.
Anyways, the phone is pretty much anchored where ever you place it. Overall, this a premium universal mount, if you can call it that lol. I can see this fitting many many type of cases without any issue. And the sticky mount is the best I have tried so far in the car. Can I recommend this? Well it is a premium device as I said, so the cost of the mount is around $35 USD. Not too high up, to me just at the top side of my range on what I would spend on a dash mount. Being this a really good one, I feel good recommending it to anyone that is willing to pay for what you get. A solid universal mount that will last past this N5 and many others IMO.
Pros:
Size is middle range.
Can pivot 360 so you can see your device at any angle.
Rubber teeth holds firm
Sticky pad is VERY sticky.
Cons:
Sticky pad can get dusty really really really fast.
Color is shiny gloss black like other car mounts I have used with the exception of the Xenomix brands which are matte black, but much more expensive. As a result, can get scuffed like mine is on the back side.
Wishlist:
Cord management
Or ability to house a wireless charger pad by an insert or different "grip".Not an engineer, sorry lol.
Recommend? Yes over any Arkon mount you can throw at it. For being that I can get it in the US pretty fast, I can recommend this. Will I stop using my Kenu Airframe? Probably not, but this is a great alternative.
Any questions, please ask away! Oh I'll be getting a Spigen SGP Neo Hybrid case where I can test with that on as well. I don't foresee any problems, but just a FYI.

Might be a strange question, but has anyone actually bought a Montar mount and received it? It seems like every review I have seen was when Montar has sent the person one to review. I tried to order one last year and I found a lot of negative feedback about the company claiming they never received their item or it took months for them to actually get it. I ended up buying a similar mount on Amazon. But yeah, just curious has anyone actually bought one from them and what was the service like?
EDIT: Sorry, disregard my post. I just saw your Amazon link. When I originally was going to order it it wasn't on Amazon but on their own site which is what was getting negative feedback.
I received mine long time ago ... Amazing mount , built to last ...
Nice review. Thanks
no doubt .. it's the best !
+1
Can you give us the measurements of the dock? I'm mainly after the height and also the max width of the grip. I have a 9cm mat that I want to mount if possible. Thanks!
