Windows Phone Internals updated to version 2.4 - Windows 10 Mobile

Hi all! Windows Phone Internals 2.4 is ready to download. It beats the modern SecureBoot implementation. And furthermore, it brings custom ROM's, Mass Storage Mode, Root access and many more hacks to all Windows Phone 8 and Windows 10 Mobile-based Lumia-models. There is also a new Download-section in the tool, where you can download everything you need for your phone.

Nope. And I don't think they will be supported. I got neither of these phones to test with. Research would also take a lot of time to see if some of the hacks can be ported to these phones and maybe they also need new hacks. I don't think I would have time to create support for these phones.
Heathcliff74

Good to hear that I can unofficially update a Lumia to the latest version of Windows 10 Mobile (1709 (10.0.15254.12))

Thanks for working so hard on this tool. It's going to be great seeing all the amazing things that will be made because of it!

It will support lumia 635??

So HTC one m8 for windows is suporrted?

Good work, my old friend! Even your link is broken, I'm 100% trust you, your work should be amazing!
But, I'm afraid, it's too late now, Windows phones are almost dead It's a time to switch to the another platform, unfortunately Damn Microsoft, burn in hell! - you are killed the prefect platform! But currently Windows phones (even a "latest&greates ones", like my two years old L-950), become nonfunctional because of lack of applications and services... Lack of support of modern services and apps is killing the platform more faster than damn "back end guy" Satya Nadella

Well, this tools gives two options
1: Unsupported phones that don't receive upgrades can be upgraded to the latest version 1709 (10.0.15254.12) and receive at LEAST security updates. and small bug fixes.
2: Phones that have similar Android phone counter parts might be able to be switched to Android where the drivers are supported for that same hardware where they will have new life.
Im leaning towards 1 because its easier.

Look like a chance to unbrick my 530.

Hoping for new life
Will the new WP Internals work with my Lumia 730 now?
THANK YOU

Hey, guys, if you want Android or iOS, buy another hardware. Here is theme about Lumias - so let´s thank Heathcliff for his work and don´t frustrate him and others...

Thank you and keep up the good work! I'm sure many people waiting for some solution to have some last breath in their devices even if they are not active on this forum. Personally I have a Lumia 950 and I really love this phone. Wouldn't like to change it to an android one and I also don't see a design what I would love like this one.

Old is gold

whats the point of supporting old lumias, even if some one made is possible to install android it would be a stupid move since hardware is old,

It's not about rolling out a software update that new phones must get it first. And new phones like the Elite x3 have more security features that are difficult to break at this moment. Just like how WP Internals was only for old phones like Lumia 520, 720 two years ago and not for new devices at that time like Lumia 640, 730, etc.

@Heathcliff74
Thanks for the work put forth to help Windows mobile users experience more. Looking forward to checking out the supported device list when it comes...

Should i pick it up or should i wait?

I need a new smartphone and i think i'm going to get the Touch Pro 2 later today.
What do you guys say, should i get this one or should i wait for a future model from HTC?
What are your overal experiences for so far?
it's a super-great device, and no better are planned AFAIK, when it comes to QWERTY+decent display - there is't much to choose from.
Only the Star and the SuperStar are likely to be any better than the TP2 and there's no news on them other than that they have nvidia chipsets.
No idea what they'll even look like, but those will be some special phones!
According to AT&T there is going to be a Hardware refreash....this means that it will support windows Mobile 7....however this is in september / october when WM 7 comes out.
I am going to wait as I do not want tofind out that there is a newer version of the TP2. Once those months pass and there is no new anywhere then I will upgrade to the TP2, however thats if Toshiba don't release thier 1 GHz WM6.5 phone...
If you need it now, buy it now.
By the end of the year, we'll see new BCM2727 HD and Qualcomm Snapdragon based mobile phones with really big display, 3D acceleration, WinMo 6.5 and maybe even some with keyboards. All these *NOT* from HTC. For HTC models you may have to wait well into 2010.
But what will be the RAM/ROM configuration, hardware build quality, TF3D alternative and price - nobody knows.
As always with technology, there's always something better just around the corner, so you can theoretically postpone indefinitely.
I'm buying TP2 as soon as the shops that sell for a bit more decent price get it in stock locally. While I would have liked a faster CPU and even more RAM, I'm confident that TP2 will fill my needs for quite some time.

Agree completely! I'm getiing the TP2 as soon as it arrives at tmob usa to take advantage of it's great features. If someday when htc has snapdragon, then I'll upgrade...
Does anyone know if this will be an ATT phone and if so, when?
I second the above comments.
There are better specd devices available and due for release soon.
The only reason I went for Rhodium is
1 It's an HTC which means I can configure and tweak the hell out of it
2 It's a great looking / feeling device
3 It's an HTC which means there's unsurpassed support for it right here in these great forums.
Did I mention it's an HTC device?
Cheers,
Beasty
Well there may be other devices not from HTC that are released soon and have better specs (or already have been released), but i really want a HTC phone and not something else =)
So if i wanna stick with HTC this is the best option, at least untill 2010?

What exactly do you mean? that the touch pro 2 hardware is getting updated or that a completely new phone is going to be released?
well IMHO there is nothing better out there by HTC at present and i can only highlight Beast reasons as a perfect summary for getting the device. yep there may be higher spec devices due out but will they work as well as the tp2 does? that remains to be seen. right now we have a HTC device that delivers and finally does some justice to touchflo. i too have my eyes on the toshiba tg01 but that will replace my HD and it remains to be seen if that 1ghz processor will actually enhance the device.
Mmm ok, and when exactly will devices be released with windows mobile 7 on them?

thats an HD2 not an TP2, HD2 is the only device from HTC which will be official compatible with WM 7.
because WM7 needs a capacitive tochscreen it will not work on TP2.

Haha, I hope they will release TP3 in time with WP7 I'm also curious about the dual core snapdragon processors which are announced with the end of this year

When I had the T-Mobile Wing they said we could not get WM6.5 and now thanks to XDA we have it. Now I have the TP2 and even though the screen doesn't support some of the command I would not be surprized if there was success in getting WM7 onto this phone (limited in functionality and may be very slow). At any rate I will be getting the HD2 on March 24 when it comes out to T-Mobile.

IMHO, the GUI is not that complex that you really need complex hardware. If MS really wanted, i believe it could run on a TP2 too (even with multitouch). 529Mhz is not that slow. And your TP2 has OPENGL 1.1? hardware which is not really used very well.
But like MS said, they put a lot of work to let the hardware and software work really together. Which in other words they say you need to buy new hardware (faster CPU, OPENGL 2.0; base ram 512MB)
Even now it could technically run on HD2, the HD2 device is not officially compliant with the 3 hardware buttons a Win7 mobile device needs (back, start , search). I wonder how to map the search button.
Let's only hope!
I am sure that if someone can get the current ROMs for the HD2, which are technically designed for a capacitive screen, to work on the TP2, I would bet money that someone will be able to port it over and make it work. We won't really know until stuff starts getting leaked. That would be great though. I would really like to give WP7 a test run before dumping $500 on a new phone!!
TP2 will be able to run WP7 (maybe there might be problems with OpenGL ES 2.0 missing). The right question is - will MS make BSP for it? I highly doubt it.

Yep me too. Although i'm gonna ditch my TP 2 as soon as I get confirmation of WM7 running on the hd2.
I saw somewhere that Windows Phone 7 will require a 1ghz processor. The HD2 has that and the Touch Pro 2 doesn't.
If someone does get Windows Phone 7 ported over, it's likely going to run a little slowly.
don't forget mandatory 4 point multitouch... that might be a problem for full functionality.
I seem to remember the guy who introduced WM7 (WPS7) saying something about the 7 series being slated for all manner of new phones including those with and without keyboards (I think he made reference to phones similar to BBs with keyboards on the face of the phones)...So unless the price of processors comes down significantly I really don't think every new phone running this 7 series OS will meet such demanding base requirements (1GHz processor, capacitive multitouch screens etc., etc.).
YES!

Touch Pro Series The Best Option HTC have!
according to several websites like: http://www.redmondpie.com/htc-hd2-to-get-windows-mobile-7-upgrade-9140128/ the HD2 will get windows mobile 7. but TP2 will most likely be up to the devs here at the XDA if they can do it. My feelings are that if they can get android going on TP2 (so far so good) then they can do windows mobile 7.
In my opinion, our devices are transition devices, most of us are waiting/hoping for a TP3 better than HD2, or at least with similar specifications as the HD2.
TP2 runs WP7, but it reminds me of my old Artemis with WM65 and TF2D, .
We´ll see it coming soon.
Cheers.
i have a blue angel runnign wm 6.5 so anything is possible especially if there is enough interest.
I understand why the move makes sense for MS but personally from what I've seen of WM7 I'm in no hurry for it to get here. Now if i could get my TP2 with a 1ghz cpu i might look at it but until the smart guys here at XDA figure out how to get past WM7's limitations i'm not in any rush to give up what I have.
It might be able to run it, but Microsoft and HTC aren't going to release anything needed to make an unofficial port happen. Sorry, but it's extremely likely that the TP2 is not going to get WM7, officially or otherwise.
And to everyone who always cites the example of Windows Mobile 6.5 running on an old device, I hate to break it to you but it's not that easy when dealing with WM7. Windows Mobile 7 is based off the Windows CE 6.0 kernel, while Windows Mobile 5 and 6.x are powered by the same CE 5.2 kernel, making a port of WM 6.x to a WM5 device pretty easy. It's much more difficult when you have a different kernel with from an OS that doesn't support most of your hardware, as it means someone has to create a BSP themselves.
No multi-tasking = No dice for me! It'd be like a downgrade! Loving my TP2 with Deep Shining Rom. I use my phone for a whole manner of things, usually business orientated. If I wanted the type of phone the Windows mobile 7 looks like it's gonna introduce, I would've bought an IPhone!

Run Android on WinMo 7

I have followed XDA for quite some time and have been waiting for someone to get a little bored with android like myself and start the modding of the new WinMo 7 phones to run both Android and WinMo 7. I can't find anything on it. Is it just not possible (yet)??? I know the devices can handle it...1ghz, 16gb internal, plenty of memory...Vibrant, etc. Seems like the perfect device for a dual boot Eclair/Froyo and WinMo 7. Windows Mobile 6x running Android is old and the 1st one I did was the Tytn II by HTC. Slow, but it was still nice to have both.
Any Devs out there wanna push this? I'll buy hardware and do any tests wanted. Seems Samsung specs are pretty equal between the Vibrant and Focus or even like the port of Android to the HD2...can it be done using the HD7 from T-Mo?
In the case of Samsung, why wouldn't you just get the Captivate (Galaxy S)? Already has Android. The Focus is basically the same phone...

why start from ZERO when HD2 is already running Android pretty smoothly and will be getting wp7 soon? Not to bash or anything but wp7 may not be as easy to tinker with as compared to wm6.

[Q] Nokia X and Nokia 521

So, with the upcoming release of the Nokia X, the rumors say that it has very simular specs to the Nokia 521 (that I picked up last week for real cheep). since they are both made by the same company, with what looks like the same hardware, what are the chances of getting Android ported over from the X to the 521? Is there a low level hertel that just can't be overcome or is it just a mater of a developer putting in the time? Thanks
I think the real problem is locked boot-loader on lumia. Lumia 520 is the most popular wp8 device so there's no shortage of devs.
BTW your lumia is better than X as it has 5mp camera and dual core krait.
any chance of getting a dual-boot ROM on this great device?
I too hope it arrives soon... should be pretty killer.

First, Lumia has a locked bootloader. Don't expect that to change anytime soon.
Second, Windows Phone and Android boot very differently. At least until WP8.1 comes out and maybe things change, since Microsoft claimed soon Android and WP could share hardware, but that could mean everything but that part.

Sorry man but if it's not Intel based it isn't happening. At least not yet. Plus w10m isn't very good and it's getting an update. Microsoft is releasing full windows 10 to arm based devices which means someday soon you can use it but the thing is is that it might get locked to the snapdragon 835. I've heard that it's w10 won't be on anything lower than the 835. Which makes sense but wait for a good phone and this os. Or if you want windows 10 mobile I guess try the Asus zenphone.
Thanks for the response.
I've read about the Windows-On-Arm stuff, but I'm just looking to get a newer Windows Phone on Verizon.
I just read that the HP Elite X3 might be coming to Verizon, so that may be my upgrade path.
I just like Windows Phone (been using since Windows Mobile 6).
I'm not into iOS and Android.

Might be. Either that or the Acer liquid Jade primo. But either way when Microsoft shuts down w10m and brings windows on arm you'll probably have to buy yet another phone that supports it. Just a warning. But I'd look around on XDA and see what phones people like and think would be a good grab.
