Push notifications problem - OnePlus 5T Questions & Answers

Hi all,
I'm having a very annoying problem. Sometimes I get delayed notifications, and sometimes I don't get them at all. It seems, that every application that is getting its updates through PUSH is having this problem. I've been trying to disable Doze individually for every app that I had problem with, and ended up disabling Doze completely through Developers Options. But it didn't work BTW all my iOS devices are getting notifications no problem and on time. It is very important for me because I'm trying to use it as my daily driver, and this problem for me is actually a deal breaker.
Any suggestions?
Thanks
Edit: I'm running stock OS 4.7.2. No root.

Actually got the same Problem and no Idea how to fix it...

Try this:
Go to settings then to battery. Click on battery optimization, find the apps that you want notifications to come instantly and turn those ones onto don't optimize.

this doze is killing android actually.

Same problem

Anyone figured this out?

Have you turned off Advanced Optimizations, under the Battery Optimization selection?
Settings>Battery>Battery Optimization

Do this for apps that you want instant notifications for.

This is the solution

No its not fixing this issue. This is something else. Besides this phone really sucks about notifying the owner sometime u dont hear the notification sounds sometimes they dont appear at all. This is so annoying...

I've got the same problem with OxygenOS 5.0.4.
Disabling Settings>Battery>Battery Optimization does not help.
Disabling Doze in developer settings does not help.
And also not optimizing it per app setting does not help at all.
As I understand it, Doze will only be activated after a certain time. But the Notification problem exists almost immediately after I turn the screen of.
So I guess that Doze should not be the problem.
AOSP based ROMs do not have this problem.
I clean flashed OxygenOS and immediately had the problem again.
Is there any solution?

This is an issue since the Op5. And I read this at different fora but there is no solution. Important calendar notifications do also not appear on my phone. A lot of apps just close while they should run 24/7 in the background.

Just checked again. The Battery optimization as well as the advanced optimization is disabled for Whatsapp.
Rebooted and tested again.
The first three messages arrived immediately, two further messages (1 minute later) failed and arrived multiple minutes later.
This is extremely annoying

I'm using the final 5.0.4 rooted. No custom kernel.
The notification settings in Whatsapp are the same like they are in LineageOS where the notifications work.
There even aren't any related settings to this problem, only vibration and LED settings.
In OxygenOS I disabled everything I found regarding battery saving:
- Battery optimization for Whatsapp specifically (Doze).
- Advanced optimization in the 3-dot menu.
- Battery saving option in the developer tools.
Still not working -.-

lollipop issues fixed with one app....

Okay I have a note 4 and ever since 5.0 and even 5.1 my phone with wifi on would lag .... chrome would load slow, some apps wouldn't load, app store would take minutes for everything to load, facebook, etc.....
I downloaded DNSet from app store set it to auto start and now my phone is 100% working no problems, this is after many cache wipes, factory resets....
Hope this helps someone if they are having problems like I have.
An app is worth a shot...I downloaded it, and have it set, so we will see how well it does...I notice a little bit of speed increase when opening up Web pages and apps. If this keeps up, thanks for the info.
I use package disabler. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.ospolice.packagedisablerpro&hl=en
Thanks to you both! These apps rock!
Yeah, package disabler made this phone way quicker and improved battery life dramatically. Thank you for the suggestion.

The app knows what is safe. You hit remove all bloatware and it does it for you. I had to turn back on my calendar and a few things, but its really easy.
Dnset made my browser easily 10x faster.
Yeah I just used the other app with DNSet and now my phone is like it was when I first bought it.
Just downloaded both of these and they've worked wonders! Only complain is that DNSet leaves the icon in my notification tray all the time.

HUUUUUGE screenshot, LOL. :D
That's odd. Normally there are 2 options: Set as Priority and Block. Block is missing and would've blocked all notifications from that app. So for some reason, the app designer decided that the notification is necessary and should never be removed :(

I could not get DNSet to work, but I use package disabler and greenify. Really improved my battery life.
So after installing Package Disabler I can't save any screen writing I do. When I go to save it just says, "Screen Write has stopped". I've gone through the list of packages that are disabled and I've re-enabled everything that looked like it could be related to the S-Pen but no dice. Anyone else experienced this or have any ideas?
I use S NOTE all the time and no issues with Package Disabler. Try rebooting your phone after enabling packages possibly related.

[SOLVED] Looking for a "Reliable" Call & SMS Reminder App

I'm Looking for a call & SMS reminder app that really works, even after my Nexus 5X goes into deep sleep and on battery.
Have found many threads, many comments, many apps -- but not found one that really works in all situations. They all claim more or less the same, but in real-life testing, they frequently don't remind when the phone sleeps or when it's on battery. Don't need a reminder for email, notification, or anything else.
Simple or complicated. Paid or free. Root or not. I don't care as long at it's reliable.
Any suggestions? Have I overlooked a 'gem'?

Not receiving notifcations/Receiving them late - Note 10+/Exynos

Hey guys.
I have been using this phone for a number of days, and it seems like ever since I activated a battery saving option which I can't seem to single out, I stopped receiving notification when the phone is locked and/or I'm receiving them with a delay. receiving
I'm also having a problem with things that requires the phone to have an active data/wi-f- connection when locked, like WhatsApp Web or Google photos backup.
There is no data/wi-fi saving or limiting option enabled. I specifically added gmail, whatsapp and other app that I wish to receive lock notifications from to the "Not optimized" list.
I'm attaching my battery settings screenshots for reference.

I don't think it's anything to do with adaptive battery.
If you go into the developer menu and down to the bottom there is an option standby apps. Once in there you'll see apps listed, if they're set to ACTIVE they are allowed to do what they like. Even with full battery optimisation set Gmail is always ACTIVE and is still having issues. I think it's actually an issue with the phone going into some kind of standby mode. Sometimes it does and therefore notifications are off and sometimes it doesn't and everything is fine.
I tried everything mentioned here and it seems to work for about one day and then the delay was back (especially in WhatsApp).

Further to this, it doesn't seem to be an issue when the device is charging so presumably thats keeping something alive.
This thread has been inactive for weeks but I think this problem still exists. A Google search for "lockscreen notification delay" brings up a number of reports from various Samsung, Oneplus and other Android users - but still no single solution.
For a while I did not even think I had the problem because it does not appear unless your phone is inactive for about 10-15 minutes.
The problem appears to have something to do with changes to Optimize Battery Settings not sticking.
I found a workaround but it has to be done everytime the phone is rebooted.
- Under Optimize Battery Usage make sure that Whatsapp,Gmail or whatever notification app is being delayed is NOT Optimized
- Use the ADB command "adb shell dumpsys deviceidle disable". This has to be done from a computer with the phone connected to it. Or if you have root you can run it directly from the phone using Terminal Emulator.
Somebody from the Oneplus forums has also created a Magisk Module that appears to work on Samsung phones. You can find it in post #65 here: https://forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-6t/how-to/guide-notification-fix-100-t3865551/page7
Is this the only way to fix this or has somebody found a better way?
At first, when I downloaded, installed, put the accounts, and all pertinent stuff, I observed this problem, no mails and no whatsapps until waking the device, or worst, had to enter the apps, but, I found the above solutions/steps, and, everything is working fine since Sept 13th, no delays, all working fine, even battery life is really good

The moderate power save also caused issues with late notifications on my device. I've only turned it on to test it but even after putting back to optimised and/or high mode did not rectify the issue. Somehow, few days later, I've managed to correct it but I've done so many changes that I've no idea how or what fixed it.
I had this issue on my S10 + to particularly with whatsapp! Messages would come in delayed or i just wouldnt get the notification for some reason! I never figured it out unfortunately but thankfully it seems to be ok on my note 10 + which is strange because i literally have this device set up EXACTLY the same as my S10 + in terms of settings etc ! If i remember correctly however, My S10+ didnt have this issue at the beginning!

You have to disable MIUI optimization if you want to install Youtube Vanced, particularly Micro G, on a non-rooted Xiaomi device. That is one of the use cases. Disabling MIUI optimization disables a lot of the "extra" features within MIUI.

I did it for this exact reason, though i've tested it and switched the on/off button a few times, and finally activated it again after successfully installing YT Vanced and Micro G, it works fine but the UI needed a long time to appear as fully MIUI again, lots of the interface elements were looking plain Google while the optimization was off, even for some time after I've switched it back on, it was weird. ^^

Hello, I have experienced that greyed Auto-fill section as well. Here's what I did to fix it. Go to Settings > Additional Settings > Languages & input, then Autofill service set it to Google. Now you can go back to Developer options and the Auto-fill section will be enabled.

Question MIUI Optimization gone after update MIUI 13

i cant solve this problem, even in Developer Option Menu MIUI Optimization is gone...any help?
Go to Developers options and select "Reset to default values" at the very bottom. Then you'll see MIUI Optimization option.
You can disable it in Terminal
setprop persist.sys.miui_optimization false
I think this requires Root though ^^

You have to go to Developers Options and select "Reset to default values" at the very bottom under AUTOFILL. And then press it multiple times(one time didn't work for me). Then you'll see MIUI Optimization option.
If it is canceled or activated, What difference does it make in general?

You will notice some visual differences.
For example, the display will be locked @ 60 Hz, icons are square, the UI-blur looks less clean, app-starts show the icon initially, more apps use your chosen font instead of the app's font (for some reason), ability to disable MIUI's permission manager is back, etc...

Some stock android features like multiple users are enabled (MIUI's Second space will be gone)
Some MIUI services don't run or can be disabled (you get slightly more free RAM)
MIUI's theme icons won't display properly (with the correct cutout)
Some MIUI's fonts will be replaced by stock Android fonts

First I had to enable autofill in the language menu, then it became configurable and showed up in the developer options as well.
And sorry, my mistake, the Miui optimization menu appeared at the bottom, I missed it. Thx. I hope that turning off the optimization will reduce the killing of whatsapp and others in the background. I am mad of this phone. I can't reliably lock apps in ram and I can't record calls.
Hello, can anyone help, please?
Miui optimization option never appeared even though I tapped "Reset to default values" more than seven times.
I started using redmi11e pro. I followed instructions above.
I could access Go to Developers options and tapped "Reset to default values." but it never appears Miui optimization option.
I really appreciate if anyone can help.

Sir, the 2 issues you mentioned in your last sentence, AOSP is MUCH more reliable, it does not kill apps so aggressively, quite the opposite. And for Call recording I use Magisk + the Module Basic Call Recorder https://github.com/chenxiaolong/BCR
I know it's not helpful to you now, but you could consider installing an AOSP Custom ROM.
Hello, jviojtaba. Thank you so much for your answer.
Your answer is clear. not wired at all. that is what I have tried before by searching web including this forum .
However. I tapped there again and again, the optimization button never appeared. autofill developer option have been reset.
What I felt is that latest version of MIUI 13 change the program that even tapping that "reset to default value", the optimization button never shown up....
I wish if there is certain solution for that.
I really appreciate your answer jviojtaba.

Yes, I know, but I have a Note 11s with a Mediatek processor, so I'm out of luck.
After a trip to the Auto-fill section (I clicked on the Add Service option and returned w/o making any changes ) clicking on the Reset to default values immediately resulted in toggle to disable MIUI Optimization becoming visible. Otherwise I had tried the reset option many times w/o success. Thanks to Tomkk's suggestion above.
