Any NZers bought this phone? - OnePlus 5T Questions & Answers

My old phone broke ages ago ( 1 month ago) and I've been waiting patiently for it to come here. Supero ended up having limited stock for 64gb but not 128gb and now it is removed from their website (no idea why). I was just wondering if any NZ'er has purchased this phone from the US or any website for a reasonable price?
Supero was selling the 128gb model for $1050 + $30 shipping, The phone itself costs like $850 NZD if you were to purchase from the US (doesn't include import fees and shipping costs).
I really need a new phone soon and I cannot wait any longer

It is apparent you are not from NZ.
NZ is a very small country opposite Australia, it stands for "New Zealand". Supero is a website which sells a lot of things, including phones. It had the only stock for the 5t in NZ which has now been removed from their website for unknown reasons.
There is actually context, you just didn't understand what NZ meant ( I should've said that in the post) but as you could tell by the title, it was direct at people from NZ. You aren't being rude lol, you were confused as hardly anyone knows about NZ.

Haha it's fine man. There's a whole sub reddit for "I didn't know NZ existed" ( can't remember the name). It's quite funny when people say what is NZ. At least now you know

"NZ" sounds like something that belongs in a Mass Effect game

[Q] Buying The Galaxy Nexus In Germany

Hey Guys
My friend going to Germany and I want him to buy for me me the Galaxy Nexus.
Since we do not know Germany (by the way,he is going into Munich), I'd Glad if anyone can help us and tell me where it will be possible to buy it on Nov 17 Germany, Munich
Thanks in advance!
P.S
I heard they sell it in Vodafon as sim-free, Is it true? If so, where it will be possible to buy it there?
Thank you!
Sorry if I went through the Forum Rules..
Hello, I'm from Germany and I would advise your friend to preorder it to a German postal address (by Amazon.de or cyberport.de). I doubt that Vodafone or O2 or even big stores like Media Markt/Saturn have this device exactly on the date of release in stock.
Also, I would suggest him to be there a bit longer (talking about 2-3 days) than just until the 17th as there is no guarantee he'll have it in his hands on exactly this date.
If anyone else has another idea, go ahead. But this are my best 2 cents I have.
Tell your friend to look for "Vodafone" and "O2" Shops, they have been confirmed to carry the Galaxy Nexus during the UK launch of the Galaxy Note.
You might want to look for "Debitel" Shops also since you can already pre-order the Nexus there (for a good price: 530€).
But none of them said they would get the Galaxy Nexus on the 17th yet.
Mobilcom-debitel is also selling the Galaxy nexus without branding or sim-lock for a very affordable 529,95€, you might want to check that out.
Nice to see a thread for German sales in particular. Does anyone know if the 32GB model will be for sale here in November?
Regards
qwer23
edit: Just re-read the post above mine and saw that this shop was already mentioned - sorry!
Back to the original question, will it be possible to buy it on the 17th or 18th of November? Because in Mobilcom-debitel it says you can only buy it from week 47 (November 21st)
The last time I wanted a SIM free phone at a German Vodafone shop, they wanted me to become a subscriber. No thanks.

You might be out of luck. It looks like week 47 is the earliest date to get the Nexus in germany. There are a few sites stating Nov 24 as release date (= week 47) but nothing more concrete has been made public.
Edit 2011-11-10:
Ok, now o2 germany also said they are expecting the Galaxy Nexus to arrive in week 47. https://twitter.com/#!/telefonica_de/status/134322435293057024

I just realized I have family in Munich. Does anyone know if an unlocked GSM is currently on sale there and what the price would be in American dollars?
Anyone know of any German sites that sell to the rest of the EU that can also actually be contacted?
Handyattacke.de simply won't respond at all and mobilcom-debitel.de seems to be domestic delivery only.

It should be available during the next few days. But I don't what is happening now because of the Volume bug. Most of the shops have the 2. December as a date.
The price would be something around this.

Thanks, but I know about expansys already and they are based in France if I remember correctly. They also charge more than Swedish stores and the release date seems to be the same. The reason I asked originally was because Handyattacke.de has a noticably lower price while the UK has a noticably higher price.

Check out this list of german stores: geizhals(dot)at/deutschland/692132
You could try contacting the following major stores: cyberport, redcoon & alternate
(sry cant post urls :/)
handyattacke.de responded when I emailed them on an unlisted email address. They only said they expected them in stock "early december" so not very detailed there. I asked them for an estimate at least.
Apparently they will get it sometime during week 49.
Cyberport seems to the firstone to ship (01.12.2011)
Hi,
So I might be taking a trip to Germany in the end of December and was thinking maybe to get the GN while I am there. Because of ties to the military I will be able to get a refund for the VAT which could mean under $600... But I can only do this if I buy it in a store, not from the internet. Have you confirmed any stores for sure selling it unlocked? I know in my town there is a Media Markt and a Saturn as well as T-Mobile, O2 and Vodaphone stores.
Thanks
Hi,
Vodafone and O2 having this phone in their "upcoming models" list. I presume they will have it by Christmas.
Good luck.
Update:
MediaMarkt is selling out GalaxyNexus since yesterday (30-Nov) afternoon. Price is 599EUR. (With guarantee that if price goes down in Christmas, you will get the benefit too. I have no more information on that.)
Call your nearest MediaMarkt and reserve one as they've limited (first shot) stocks.
I bought one last night and I'm loving it!

Wouldn't mind knowing myself, took a punt on the LG Watch R at the weekend, which is nice but would prefer the Zen. I have it preordered at Expansys at the moment, got in while they were taking orders rather than just the register interest page they have up now.
I had some interest in LG G Watch R because of the circular display but I think the watch is a bit too chunky. Will have a look at expansys

I'm currently using the LG Watch R and had the same thoughts as you, but it's not as bad as I imagined it would be. However I still have my preorder with Expansys and will decide on which one I want to keep once it arrives. Hopefully soon!
Hi all,
I pre ordered mine here: http://www.expansys.fr/asus-zenwatch-eu-265396/
Please note I'm from France.
Anyone got any news with UK release? Hopefully comes before Christmas so I can get myself a Christmas present
Noticed this morning that Simply Electronics list this on their site for £184.95. Also that they've got 5 in stock and make no mention of it being imported. Considering a UK launch date or price hasn't been announced (that I know of) I'd be very sceptical.
UPDATE: A glance at some Google Shopping reviews suggests they might not be on the level.
they are based in HK and have some very dodgy reviews - actually rang them this morning asking whether it is uk stock and this wasn't clearly answered. I then asked about customs duty and they just said its an all inclusive price - bollox. Expect duty and RM charges on top....
I actually remember I nearly bought a camera off this lot a couple of years back but they aren't exactly truthful about location of item or taxes etc - means you'll pay customs and it'll be regarded as a grey import without warranty.
I think its sad that ASUS are dragging their feet on this. I've looked at big daddy in the US but again with their $40 fee and customs, its getting expensive!
Need an american friend to buy and send as a gift!
Anyone heard anything more on the UK release?
Avoid Simply B'S they are HK based

I decided to try se after I discussed at length where the watch was coming from (uk or abroad) , the warranty, etc. I was told it's coming from the UK. Has a UK se warranty. Ordered last week and the amount of bull I've been fed since is unreal. Been told due to amount of orders they should be able to post it by mid December! Even though they originally said 10 days..... I queried why it should even take 10 days?! They are full of sh.....
If and when it arrives, if it's not a UK warranty, I will charge it back through my credit card as I will have been mis sold the item according to trading standards. Mmm I will then follow up with trading standards and ensure they are put out of business based on their mis-sellibg practices... At least in the uk/as a UK seller.
Anyway, still no UK date grrr

Don't order from Simply Electronics. The product they have is not certified anywhere and is dodgy. They quote low prices to draw people in and you very stung after. I got taken in by the cheap price if a macbook air but it wasn't European certified or certified by America FFC. They're customer services is rubbish and they don't reply and when they do they try to get you to keep the product at a reduced cost. I had to complain through PayPal and eventually got all my money back. Lesson learnt. They are based in HK but have warehouses in UK and Europe. If you ever do order then be wary as they're not that easy in returning and will try to get away with charges to deduct from the amount you paid on receipt of a return. I would suggest you all keep away like you would with the plague!! All the reviews online are rubbish and are made up to make them look good.

Expansys have changed from a "keep me notified" page to a pre-order page. I don't know whether that's due to a site relaunch (can't recall whether I've seen that design before), or whether it's changing.
BTW, for a while now, I haven't seen Simply listed on the Google Shopping page when searching for the Zenwatch.

I pre ordered back in October but nothing since then obviously. Dunno if I should pre order again! Had a price when I first did it. £159.98 is the price that was given.
Just looked on simply be and it's on their site for pre order just under £200 - site has changed a lot since I made that horrible mistake of ordering from them a while ago.

I have a zenwatch in my possession in the UK. It was ordered from the US via Big Apple Buddy. I ordered it on Friday 5th December at around 2100, paid by PayPal and had it - with shipping & tracking information and regular updates - delivered by FedEx by 1030 on Monday 8th December.
The total cost was around $285, including service charges, but felt this was still pretty good value in the realm of early adoption, given the interminable wait for the damn thing to reach the UK.
I can vouch for the fact that Big Apple Buddy are entirely safe and reputable.
And the watch? Well worth it, especially with 5.01 sideloaded.
I looked at them^ but they came back much more expensive than this!
I've just ordered a Gear VR from Samsung US using .comGateway - very reasonable $20 plus postage.

How the Samsung recall will affect those who imported / eBay'd

Starting this thread away from the other more general recall threads...
For those that bought their Galaxy Note's on eBay or imported a Duos model etc - how do they return to Samsung? Will they lose out on this?
I think this recall should envelop every phone no matter where it was purchased. The phone is still made by Samsung.
I believe in that case it will be the retailer's responsibility to handle the replacement (as a middleman for Samsung). I would think this to be the case as the local Samsung repair stores would probably only stock the variant corresponding to the country. Although I am only speculating. I've reached out to my retailer (swiftronics.ca) for more info and will post when I hear back.

I think Samsung will struggle to replace handsets that were purchased outside of their intended country.
Each countries Samsung division will only support handsets for that territory especially when specs can differ so widely between countries etc.
Now I hope im wrong for everyone who has done this but in my experience of working in retail (mobile phone and electronics) it's not likely and Samsung will just ask for you to contact the seller for details on what to do.
Dunno why people risk buying expensive phones on eBay..
I already contacted my eBay seller for an exchange for non faulty one since their return exchange policy is 30 days. Lets see how that goes. Mine is an FD, Singapore version

I also used tropical_mobile. I sent a message this morning asking if they had a procedure for the recall yet, but no response yet. Returning within 30 days may be the other option. They've been great to deal with, overall.
I'm hoping there will be a way they (or Samsung) can ship a replacement ASAP, and then we send back the recalled device once we have the new phone. Wishful thinking, I'm sure.

Chances are that you're correct, but if Samsung can't tell us which serial numbers are affected, then I obviously can't be 100% positive either (until it's on fire). If it was just a risk of bricking a $100 phone, then maybe I wouldn't bother. An $850 phone potentially incinerating itself... I'll take the recall.

Apart from having the math wrong (0.002% instead of 0.0002%), the speculation that it wouldnt happen on other devices (so the chances would increase) and stating unconfirmed facts, I'm a bit put off by how he is talking about 'weeks'.
Buying phones on ebay should be like buying phones from anywhere else, either web or brick and mortar. Ebay has a set of rules for return policy, and the seller has their rules too. You play by the rules. Those trust worthy sellers who want to keep their reputation would in fact work with their customers who have bought from them.
As for the buyer who wants to be protected, I hope you studied into your credit card benefits. Some credit cards have extended warranties and extended return policies in tack for their card holders. If you used a good card tied with your ebay and paypal account, you should be well protected.

it depends how the seller got said phone, if the seller bought from company A who bought the phone from Samsung to recall the device you are likely looking at having to return the device to the seller who would then have to go to Company A to get the replacement then send it back out to you.
however if the seller got these off the back of a truck or purchased from a company who purchased from a company who purchased from another company leading to a long line of people before you get back to the person why actually did the transaction with Samsung you are looking at way longer if it is even possible, this is the reason you should only ever buy from reputable sites as no matter how good an ebay seller is unless they are an extension of an online store you may as well be buying it off a bloke down the pub.

'a few weeks' = we'll tell you we're not doing anything for the recall after your return period has lapsed.
If that's how they're going to handle it, then they have a 100% chance of me returning my phone for a refund very soon.

Do you have a recommendation on a reputable site to import a N930F or N930FD from? I started off with from.ae, and they took forever to process then tried to send me a phone that wasn't factory sealed. Tropical had great feedback and a 30 day return window. Happy to entertain other options for this next round if you have suggestions!
unfortunately I don't know where to import to the US as I am based in the UK.
People who buy any Samsung product from an unauthorized reseller get no service, support, or warranty protection. All grey market phones aren't warrantied for that reason. You can't register a Samsung product obtained outside the U.S. in the U.S. because the model number and serial/IMEI number won't be recognized. So if someone with a Texas drivers license shows up at the Samsung Support Center in Houston with a phone from Hong Kong with no registration and no proof of purchase how should Samsung personnel react? What would they be able to replace a Hong Kong market phone with exactly? And why should they because it wasn't purchased from an authorized reseller in the first place?
Having said that these are obviously exceptional circumstances so perhaps they'll swap the battery out with a new one. But the logistics of this recall are going to be a nightmare for registered owners with phones needing replacement in their intended country of sale. So I'd imagine grey market phone owners will go to the back of the line. The loss of service and support is the number one reason for not buying a grey market Samsung phone as this situation proves. And I empathize with those now in a unknown situation regarding replacement of their phones but the situation they are in is one of their own creation.
ouch you guys are almost certainly screwed

Import Pixel 2 XL from US to Europe

Hi guys. I'm simply in love with Pixel 2 XL. And I want it. Now!
Unfortunately I live in Italy.. And the phone will be delivered..... No, we don't know when... But we know the price! 989euro. Crazy!
So I think to buy it the the States. One friend will buy the device and send it to me.
One question: the phone will work correctly in Italy/Europe? In tech specs all the data are the same between US and IT devices.
Thank you so much guys!
Seems like there's no difference between US and RoW model in terms of lte bands this time around. Should be fine. I'm waiting for my US purchased device to use it in Russia.

most likely that it will work fine
but make sure that the lte bands in italy are supported in the pixel + order unlocked version
Going by the specification page on the American Google store, the Pixel 2 phones should work just fine in Italy. They might not support carrier-aggregation though if that's available in your country.
Google has yet posted any clarification regarding this.
This Pixel 2 has no difference all over the world on cell coverage.
Thank you guys

in usa most states have tax
only few don't have tax
My experience with "importing" tech stuff from the States is, your shipment will 99% go through customs and you will have to provide your receipt which in turn will serve as a base for calculating how much import tax you will have to pay to your government. Since I live in Slovenia and you are in Italy (neighboring countries part of the EU) I believe your scenario will be the same.
Taken from http://tradecommissioner.gc.ca/italy-italie/market-facts-faits-sur-le-marche/17370.aspx?lang=eng
Import duties into EU countries are subject to import tariffs (normally applied on the import c.i.f. value) plus the value-added tax (VAT) which varies according to different importing countries. The standard rates for Italy is 22%.
According to the Italian Stability law of 2016, the standard VAT may increase to 25% in 2018. The imposition of the VAT rate increase will be dependant on the performance of the Italian economy.

It doesn't matter where you're importing from, your import tax is the same - shipping from other EU countries does not count as importing.
So put another 22% on top of your price of $902 and add the ****ty conversion rate from $ to € your government will probably give you. The phone will end up costing you around 900 € if they don't add any handling expenses as well.
It's funny how the situation changed in the last 3 years. Before it was hard to get Apple products where I live and it was very easy to get subsidized Nexus phones from our carriers, now it's the other way around. Getting a Pixel would cost me around the same as it would getting a Crapple product. A shame really.
Hello, everyone i've looked for importing the Pixel 2 too but the main problem it's the customs fees are too expensive and all the company that send to France (like shipito, mailbox ...) only send via DHL FEDEX so there is 100% chance that customs fees will be added, and they cost 120€ ... I'm going to Miami in March and i'm thinking of buying it at a store in Miami but i don't know if we can import the phone like this if there is customs fees risk too or not.
@AmphybiouS How do you proceed to receive your Pixel and what was the final price, did you have customs fees ?

If you buy the device in a store and bring it with you on your person or in your luggage you won't have to pay import fees.

thanks a lot so i think the best choice is to wait till March haha plus the fact that the conversion € to dollars is better for me 700$ (with Florida taxe) cost 600€.
But the customs wont say anything if i have my current phone and the pixel 2 with me ?
What happens with the warranty though?
When they increased their warranty time they said about "worldwide warranty"
https://support.google.com/pixelphone/forum/AAAAb4-OgUsFRyoLZZjXvo/?hl=by
We’re very confident that the Pixel 2 delivers an exceptional smartphone experience, and to give users peace of mind, every Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL will now come with a 2-year warranty worldwide.

Did they mean that the warranty will be 2 years everywhere or that the warranty is valid no matter where you are?
I really want one too, but not available in Portugal!
Hey guys,
I live in Poland and I took mine from Ebay. For all the people here looking to buy one, this is what I recommend.
I paid 880eur in total for my Pixel 2 XL 64.
Hey guys, my dad bought a Pixel2 in the US and bring it to Switzerland. Now, the mobile datas doesn't work.
I can do a phone call, but mobile data isn't working. Does anybody knows why?

I purchased at Clove last week with Paypal. Less than $200 over list.
Good Morning
I emailed yesterday to say that we have been offered some stock from another source, but it is a higher price – now £2010.00 as updated on our website.
Would you like to pay the extra amount and have a phone dispatched to you in the next 2 days? We cannot guarantee that we will be able to get any of the lower priced stock. Apologies for this situation.
Your patience and understanding is appreciated during this period of crisis.
Kind Regards

Out of topic i see you located in US ! How is the phone ? Whats your previous device ?
It works great on ATT. Using stock apps without difficulty. Messaging, voicemail,
contacts, maps, G mail, Google searches all work in apps provided. Had to add Gboard apk to get a keyboard I liked. Personal preference. Provided Swift keyboard is pretty nifty. Also have a Galaxy fold. Used Phone Clone to transfer contacts and whatever from Galaxy fold.
Nice ! Thank you, i also sold my galaxy fold, got pixel 4xl sold it today., and ordered Mate XS. Google is only keyboard to go I agree...the only thing i see no one can’t sign in in to google maps....I guess time to use Waze...and its sucks
