XZ1 Compact - project treble support - Sony Xperia XZ1 Compact Guides, News, & Discussion

Hello, could somebody confirm that XZ1 Compact actually supports project Trebel. In theory all Oreo devices should support it, but AFAIK this is not 100% required.
The guide how to check if the device supports it is here: https://www.xda-developers.com/project-treble-android-oreo/
Thanks.

Thanks for the reply. I think made my mind for this phone instead of chasing the elusive perfect BlackBerry.

does this mean that we already have a working aosp rom, did anyone tried it ?

[Q] Xperia E1 kit Kat firmware in Xperia M.

Hey guys. You all know that recently Sony released kitkat for xperia E1 and E1 dual. Since both e1 n M have same resolution, will it work if I flash E1 firmwares into M?
NO! Do not do it, you will brick your phone.
The resolution might be the same but:
CPU:
E1: Cortex A7 arhitecture, M has krait
GPU
E1 adreno 302, M adreno 305
RAM
E1 512mb, M 1GB
Camera is also different, 3mpix vs 5mpix.
Pretty much everything except the resolution is different.
How about to porting it?
Could be possible
what about xperia M2 firmware??
Recently kit Kat is released for xperia M2. Can I flash it in my xperia M?
No.
What about port the xperia m2 firmware?

I understood when you said NO but I am a bit curious as why this might happen? Why is it not safe ??
Completely different hardware.

I think It maybe ported if someone know how to probably hack the kernel.

Let's explain some things: a ROM have a device-specifc kernel and device-specific libraries, that's why the answer for questions like "Can I crossflash XXX device firmware in my YYY device?" will always be "No, it'll brick your phone" UNLESS the entire hardware is identical (like Xperia M and Xperia M dual, for example -- only the modem is a little different to accomodate the second SIM). Also, if firmwares could be easily crossflashed between devices, Sony wouldn't waste time and resources developing another firmware, they would just reuse the same firmware in many devices...
And for "Can device XXX firmware be ported to my YYY device?", the answer is "Probably not". You would need to rewrite a lot of the kernel code and find the proprietary binaries of the target device (for example, Xperia M uses msm8960 board and as far as I know there's no Android device running KitKat with this board, so the binaries probably doesn't exist yet). The other way would be reverse engineering the binaries from other devices but this would demand a lot of work and it's not guaranteed to work at all.
In other words, firmwares can't be crossflashed and the work needed to port a proprietary ROM to another device isn't worth, it's easier waiting for Sony release the update (no guarantees that Sony will at all) or just switching to a custom ROM like CyanogenMod, Carbon, Paranoid, etc...

[5.x.x][CM12+] Status of Lollipop and CM12.1 on the Lenovo A3/S6

You may be wondering why these devices haven't received Lollipop yet. The issue is, yet again, the MT8389 processor, which is based off of the MT6589.
I.nfraR.ed posted yesterday on the main CyanogenMod on MTK devices thread:
I.nfraR.ed said:
Do you see anyone working on CM for 6589? Most of the people moved to other chipsets.
Maybe chrmhoffmann and DerTeufel are still working on this, but I don't know anyone else who has not moved to newer device.
I have moved to Redmi Note 2.
For lollipop there's no mt6589 source and although it might be possible, it would be enormous amount of work. I don't have so much free time and have a full-time job after all.
I can't leave my regular job just to work on side projects.
So, no...unless someone else is on to development for Lenovo A820/A830, then don't expect fully working CM or ROMs based on Android 5+.
If for some reason I leave my regular job and have some "free" months, then I will be able to work on this project, because I still have my A820 with me. Not likely to happen.
My KK kernel is public, so anyone can continue from where I left.

Development support for the MT6589 has been (mostly) lost, and consequently, so has support for the MT8389. This means that, until a compatible kernel for 5.x.x appears, the likelihood of both of the devices being upgraded to CM12 or 5.x.x is very low.
That doesn't mean it's not possible, however; simply unlikely.
According to the specs the A3000 has a MT8125. Is support for this also gone?

Yes, I'm afraid this is the Wi-Fi only version of the MT8389.
I was on it..but moved to another..not at all able to boot it up..now there is a hope because of 3.4.67 kernel..again working on it???
CM12+ for A3000-H
Looking forward to CM12+ on our beloved A3000-H:highfive:
Hi guys, I have just finished doing my A3300 with Cyan's 5.1.1, all is working except for camera

Speaker mod and custom rom?

Hi everyone.
I'm new owner of Moto Z play, and I'm wondering if anyone, who owns speaker mod, have made it works on custom rom.
I also saw on Griffin RR thread (moto z) moto mods are working and I found ADDON of moto mods for custom roms by same developer located here:
https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=673368273298945956
I'm interested only in speaker, other moto mods don't interested me. I know, I should try it by myself, but my device is relatively new so I don't want to root it until I make sure everything works.
So, did anyone try this zip above or did anyone make speaker mode work on custom rom?
Thank you for your answers.

No one has been able to get Mods to work on the MZP to date. It has been done on the Z as you mentioned and I read that it has something to do with the Z being an ARM64 and the MZP is not.

As far as I know MZP SOC is ARM64.
https://www.qualcomm.com/products/snapdragon/processors/625
I also read, that one developer for MZP (from Carbon Rom) made test build, where some Moto mods have been working. So it's possible, but I know, it requires a lot of work. I hope, one day, we would have rom, which will support at least a few Moto mods.

Project Treble support?

I've google for it. Basically it's a rom project by Google and native 8.0 phone support this.
So, our XA1 Ultra?
I've tried the Treble Check app for check the support ( according to them ) but with negative results such "Our database doesn't contain you phone name", pff!
Is there anyone who has already tried to install it? Will there really be a support? One chance?
There is also talk of partitions of type A/B...

X Compact - Kugo?
Can you update for Kugo compatibility? If so, is Yoshino also possible?
Could you write what works and what doesn't in this version?
Is it a modified version from UBports? I resently installed it and there are some serious problems.... For example camera doesn't work properly (no video or zoom), Anbox is not combatible with this device and more...
It can't be used as a daily driver. Nice project, but it needs more people... Several years have passed and only one or two phone models are working good enough to be used as main devices.
