Best Screenguard!

For it's price (best bang for buck), what's the best screen guard for protection and not altering the screen lighting view.
If you are one of the users who switched from one to another, please post your feedback and experience! Helps a lot! Also if you know the major negatives of certain products, please post!
I was initially looking at generic, cheaper ones (after all its just a piece of plastic) but read around that it might not be wise. Is there really that big of a difference to justify more expensive ones?
Thanks!

I decided to go with the Realook case after reading all the great reviews.
OP, if you decide to buy that one. Here's a 10% off code that you can use on amazon. It brought down my price to $9.89 w/ free shipping.

I have the "Full Body" Ghost Armor for my Vibrant and I love the body protection. The screen protector by Ghost Armor wasn't really what I was looking for, albeit the body protection is Top-Notch from using the invisible shield, since it offers corner protection. I would stay away from ghost armor and invisible shield, since they both have that orange peel effect, while the ghost armor has less of it. I'm looking into the SGP Steinheil, since it has many rave reviews. Though I can't comment on how well it truly does perform though, since I have not used the product yet.
what's the best matte style screen protector? too bad realook doesnt make a matte version. I have the regular "anti fingerprint" one and it still glares and fingerprints. The matte one that apple made when i had an iphone was amazing, too bad I cant find a similiar quality one for the Vibrant =(
have ghost armor and I notice no orange peel effect and have been using it for several months. I didnt care for the full body protection as i always felt the edges of the armor and it annoyed the hell out of me. So I just kept the screen protection and removed everything else.
whats the difference btween zagg and real look

Idk about zigzag but real look is so clear that u can't even tell if its on ur device or not. No rainbow Orange peel effect

Maybe I'm just lucky, but I'm using a Zagg screen protector, and notice no orange peel effect. I never really notice it's there.

i use the ishield (not the zagg one but similar) and its awesome. pulled it off my old phone, put it on my new one, still looks fantastic. best protector i have ever used, only ever needed the one.
I decided to go with the reallook, because of the overwhelming vote. I would agree and love this screen protector, more than the last. This post was a ton of help, thanks!
That realook looks awesome but right now I'm currently using a generic one from ebay. I got it for $1.70 shipped and it's really great! You get 3 protectors inside the package with a small cleaning cloth.
I'm quite picky about screen protectors, I don't like the sticky ones that makes me hard to scroll down the screen or if it makes my screen dimmer (anti-glare). I usually prefer a clear, scratch resistant, smooth feeling, and easy to install screen protector. And gues what? Three screen protectors for $1.70, this thing really did the job well! Can't beat that!
did the generic ones offer the same look and glare protection as realook?
^I havn't tried the realook yet but I'm pretty sure that you'll be satisfied with this one that I'm using right now. I can't post the link cause I have less than 8 post but I'll try to send it to you via PM.
Realook...I had the T-Mobile one, Clearfreak, and some cheap store brand. The t-mobile screen I don't like at all because it distorts the screen and it also doesn't fit the entire screen. The store brand (don't remember what it was) was too hard to apply and had too much finger drag. The clearfreak was cool, but had too much finger drag/grip, and had a rubbery quality. It also picked up scratches because of the depth of whatever material it uses. Obviously protects your screen well, but I just didn't love the feel and it was occasionally tough to swype. The realook is the easiest one to apply (no soap and water), you can get it to go on with no bubbles where I could not get the bubbles out of the other ones, you can remove it, clean it, and put it back on very easily, and you would never know it was on your phone. I think realook takes this by miles, at least for me. Well worth it.
how does realook apply? because if you can peel and clean and reput it back on, it must be some special method to put it on
i bought a generic screen protector off ebay... it came with my case for under 6 bucks CAD it was for a i9000... works just fine except there is wierd hole that opens up between the haptic keys .. no orange peel & ive had it for 6 months.
Realook is the best. I had tried other screen protector but they all have that weird residue and feeling on the screen protector. I can't even tell that I have a screen protector with Realook. Best screen protector by far!
I bought the Realook based on what I have seen on this forum. It's great. It beats every screen protector I've tried. It's very easy to apply. It looks and feels like it's not even there.
Thanks!

Zagg, Skinit, Skinomi...

Anyone use one of these skins/shields on their phone? Anyone customize a skin before? Does it come out good?
Im also interested in peoples experiences with products like these.
I've had a bit of experience with Zagg. I do like them, but I personally struggle with the installation a bit. My other half seems to have more luck than me, so she gets to do most of them!
As far as protection goes, they're very good. They do, however, have an 'orange-peel' texture which can take some getting used to, and does provide some resistance against the finger.
A friend of mine uses Skinomi skins on just about everything. He has a penchant for the Carbon Fibre ones, and they look terrific when done properly. Set yourself aside a good bit of time to get it right, make sure you're in a dust-free room (especially if they're clear skins) and use a credit card as opposed to the 'squeegee' thing that comes with them. I also found heating the actual protectors with a hairdryer allows them a bit more flexibility. This little tip works for regular screen protectors too!
Good luck!
Recommendation on screen protector
I used a screen protector on my device branded "Ewoti".It is quite awsome. I used some screen protectors before, but the clarity after application were not good. However, this named "Ewoti" screen protector impressed me very much with its high definition. Also It can anti-scratch, anti-fingerprints. Really very awsome.
I'm using Zagg invisible Shield on my P500... It's a very good screen protector.
I used Skinomi on my Asus TF & it was one of the easiest installs ever. I have to admit I prefer the wet apply over the dry because it's forgiving if you mess up & I mess up a lot on the dry apply, especially when it comes to a tablet. The screen protector feels a little rubbery in the beginning but it doesn't anymore after a few months. The downside to Skinomi was I wasn't able to use my tablet for 48-72 hours. I had some serious tablet withdraws but I survived.
Hope that helps.
I'm using a Zagg Invisible Shield on my iPad. I'm very satisfied with the invisible shield! It's very strong and although it takes time to properly apply it; when it sticks, it sticks (or so to say ).
I personally can't stand the "tacky" feel those screen protectors give.
I just ordered a full body skin from Skinit. It seems to me that the DROID3 should be as naked as possible so i went with a skin and a pocket pouch. I'll post when i receive it and get it installed
i love zagg have used them on my last 4 phones
Zagg has the best screen protectors, they are the only ones I use now. Skinit has awesome skins. I had a maple wood pattern one on my OG droid that I got for $4.00 on Amazon.

Zagg is very good. A bit pricey, though...
meh
skinit is just a vinyl overlay, like a giant sticker. It wasn't for me, the edges peeled after a bit and I couldn't get them back down. All gunked up. That was on my cell of course, the one for my laptop is good though!
I'm using a bestskinsever skin.. and for $10 it works great. I don't have any experience with the more expensive ones but I've bought like 10 BSEs and they've all be great.
I've had them on iphone 2g, 3g, 4g and now a Sammy SGS2!
I've had both the zagg and the skinomi. The zagg is a stronger screen protector but the skinomi is pretty good for how cheap it is, just beware not to use it with a tpu case. My tpu case made the skinomi peal off. The skinomi will get some dings from your finger nails if they are too hard, the invisible shield won't.

Check out Steinheil anti-fingerprint screen protector. It has a matte finish so it isn't sticky like some of the other protectors I have used. I use Swype on my phone and I can just glide over the screen without any resistance at all. Has held up great for me. About $12 for a 2-pack.

kick stand case and matte screen protector in a good price

i bought it just now since i saw it look awesome on my g-nex's friend.
matte screen protector:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/17075486743...X:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1439.l2649#ht_1318wt_1163
kick stand case:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/18076968685...X:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1439.l2649#ht_1574wt_1396
the kick stand is thin (!) and i think it's a great combonation
There are no perfect screen protectors yet, and so far the basal one offers really good coverage and smooth surface. However, the clarity of the screen is abysmal, also known as the rainbow effect. Even though it's cheap for a pack of three, I'd advise to stick with XO if screen clarity is a big issue.
I've got the same case and i'm really satisfied with it, the stands is really comfortable

Any screen protectors with a glass-like touch/feel?

I have the XGear Fantom right now, so obviously that feels quite a lot like glass
Unfortunately, I have scratched it and I'm looking to replace it soon. I really don't feel like shelling out another $30 for a screen protector, so does anyone know of any screen protectors, wet or dry, that have a glass-like texture to them? For example, my HTC One X has the Zagg Invisible Shield HD on it. Unfortunately, they don't seem to offer the HD for the Galaxy Nexus. Despite its slight orange peel, the screen protector doesn't feel much different from unprotected glass, and I've grown quite accustomed to it.
Any screen protectors match this description? Preferably not the matte variety, because they tend to distort screen quality enough to bother me.

SGP Ultra Oleophobic but does not provide full coverage of the screen. I have not tried the SGP Flex (wet application) but from what I have read it sounds promising.

I have it -- it is not very glass like, in fact it may be the opposite. It is very soft, soft as in putting pressure on it using your fingernail leaves a dent on it. Granted, it heals itself very fast, but there's one dent I had that wouldn't heal. Good thing the Flex comes with 2 protectors in the package, I'm using that extra now. The great thing about it is that it does cover the whole front.
For glass feel get a tempered glass protector...
But I have An anti fingerprint protector on mine.. and as much as I hate the feel and the way it makes the screen look. I don't miss those smudges...
I got one of these and it's the best screen protector I've ever used. It's got a little most friction than glass, but it's glossy smooth and is way easier to keep clean than the screen itself was. Directions say to let it set for 12-24 hours after installation though.

Good screen protectors? Matte, Clear and Tempered glass

There are a ton of screen protectors for the nexus 5, many range from 0.01 cents to $30, but not all of them are good. I want to know what are the best, and this thread will help a lot with the same problem. Requirements are obviously to be crystal clear. Other requirements are. / are used for "or".
-Perfect cutouts/ Screen doesn't affect sensors or camera quality.
- Screen quality/color is not affected. No rainbow effect.
-Provides protection against scratches and dust.
-Doesn't attract fingerprints/wipes off easily.
-Identical texture to screen/ feels nice
Personally I'm looking for a screen protector that is Matte, feels nice, doesn't affect screen itself, provides protection and is clear.

Tempered glass feels the best
AFAIK, matte and clear don't come together. You have to choose either one.

Having used 10-20 different types of screen protectors on several devices, I'd agree on this. However, once the oleophobic coating rubs off, it's just another yucky fingerprint magnet.
I love the anti glare/fingerprint properties of matte screen protectors but unfortunately these reduce screen clarity. It ruins the beautiful display for me.
Haven't quite found something somewhat in between yet. The antiglare apple screen protectors for the iPhone 5s seem to be pretty good though...maintains the screen clarity pretty well.
The search for the perfect screen protector continues!
Personally, I'm a fan of Tech Armor's anti-glare/fingerprint screen protectors. I have one on my N7 2012, and it's fantastic. It does cut down on the clarity somewhat, but after a little while, you get used to it; and besides, it's nothing too drastic. Realistically, you're just not going to get the kind of anti-glare/fingerprint protection you want from anything even slightly "clear," at least not for some time.
I'd compare the feeling of them to a Kindle reader's screen. They're tough as nails, too. The first one on my N7 protected it from one or two gouges that would have surely cracked the screen, leaving deep indentations in the protector, but nary a scuff on the glass itself. The marks on the protector didn't even affect feel or usability that much.
I've already purchased a pack of 3 for my soon-to-be Red N5. It'll run you about $6 USD on Amazon. Lifetime warranty, as with most of the screen protectors from reputable companies. I'd link, but I can't. Sorry. :silly:

You can't really go wrong with tempered glass, I have a cheap Nillkin one (which I believe is the same as the generic ones) and it's great.

A perfect screen protector is made of sapphire and has a hardness scale of 10H we dont have that yet
Tempered glass runs for about 8$ on eBay and Amazon its the best bang for your buck.
Its better to see and feel glass rather than putting some cheap peace of thin plastic on it.
And besides glass is harder and thicker than thin plastic for example Sand in Hawaii very though my friend has a Zagg invisible shield it was a windy day on the beach and her phone fell in the sand it was enough to make a hole in the plastic protector and make a small scratch mark on the screen.
Overall glass is better since its harder and ticker for objects such as rocks and or sand to get through it
Matte..
tempered glass
Lol those above replies really aren't helpful. It all depends on what you're willing to sacrifice. I.e smudges/clarity etc. And what you're wanting the protector for because at the end of the day, the naked glass is smooth and strong. I prefer less fingerprints so lean more towards matte.

I agree, and while initial impressions on a screen protector are great, I think the most valuable information are from people who been using them for several weeks or month. Spending $40 on a tempered glass screen protector will feel amazing at first but if it lasts two weeks before chipping or causing bubbles then it's not a worthwhile investment.
I've always used SGP screen protectors, they're the best out of all the others I've tried. I wouldn't recommend any matte protector also, they kill the clarity of the screen. Glass protectors would probably give the best feeling but I don't think I'd like the extra thickness.

Nillkin is pretty amazing considering the price. It'd be nice to have a reaaaaaally slim one like Spigen's but I just can't justify the pricetag.
Anker Xtreme scratch defender SPs are awesome, they give you 3 of those for 5 bucks. They are easy to install, well aligned and looks nice

Been using nilkin tempered glass since Christmas and it's flawless. Has one tiny web at the bottom but it was my fault during installation. No bubbles, chips, peeling or anything. $15 on Amazon. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

I'm a Nilkin glass convert and wouldn't go with anything significantly different. The glass feels great, is "clear as glass," holds up very well, and, at $11 or so delivered, is cheap.
Matte is, in my opinion, just marketing cover for poor optical characteristics of the material. Why would you pay for a high-resolution screen, then effectively smear it with Vaseline?

Curious as to how your oleophobic coating is now? Mine was a fingerprint magnet after a couple of months.

It all depends on what one is after though. A cheap matte screen protector can be nasty yes. However, some are pretty decent these days. You will be sacrificing some screen clarity but you won't have a grubby looking phone with grease/fingerprints/smudges all over your screen. It's all about what one is after...pros and cons to everything. No offence to the posters that just post things like "Nilkin Glass" but I really think you should give the pros and cons as this is beneficial for readers. Simply stating a product does not help anyone really. I never understand why people buy chunky cases for their new phones but obviously they are willing to sacrifice the weight/look for the protection they get. Everyone is unique Hence we have communities like this where people can share and help. My 3 cents.
