I just tried flashing the new wimax update and it went through and succeeded, but now my phone reboots after a minute or 2 once it's fully booted. If I'm in recovery mode it doesn't have that problem at all. I'm using baked 1.5.

Have you tried the standard "wipe cache and data, then reflash your ROM"?

I have re-flashed the wimax radio and wiped the dalvik/regular chache and did a factory reset.
did you wipe? that will solve most of your problems with out the need of a thread being made.

Did you try flashing an older version or a nandroid? If you are using clockwork make sure signature checking is turned on too, you could have a corrupted file.

I tried flashing an older version and that didn't work either. What is this thing about nandroid? How do I go about that?
Edit: I fixed it by restoring google proprietary stuff(forgot the name) and restored nand. Which one fixed it? I have no idea, but it basically restored me to factory 2.1, but with root access. Mods please lock/ delete this. It's in the wrong forum and I apologize. Thank you

A nandroid is a backup of your system you can make from the recovery, it's always a good idea to make one before you flash anything. I'm not sure if that covers your radios though.
Do you use titanium backup or anything? Without knowing how your phone is set up (what recovery you are using, etc) the only thing I can think of would be to flash the engineering bootloader. That should fix it but you would have to reinstall your ROM afterwards.

The nandroid restore worked because I had a backup I made while following the guide. I fixed it doing that, but while trying to update the radio to the current one again figuring if it messed up I can restore it and again the same problem came up, but this time nandroid restore wont work and it's telling me to use adb restore, but adb says your device is not found.
BTW all of my phones stuff come directly from the idiot proof guide(recovery etc)
bump... I'm sorry I'm sitting here with a semi broken phone. Is it possible to download someone else's nandroid back up and install it on mine? I know it will fix my problem as it already did, but for some reason now it's telling me to do it with adb, but my usb seems to not be working either.

This method uses CMD and creates an android backup file (.ab) I want to unlock my bootloader and add the custom clockwork recovery. Of course unlocking the bootloader wipes everything. So if i were to restore everything with the .ab file, then do the custom recovey with the superuser thing, would that give me root, and would all of my apps and data be restored as they are right now?
Probably a stupid question, but i want to be completely 100% sure i won't mess up my phone. I know its going to void warranty, which would be a problem if i dropped it of course

It should work yes, you can also backup apps with an app called carbon. Free in the playstore.
Then unlock the bootloader,flash a custom recovery and make a backup of the stock rom in there right away too (needed when you want to go back to full stock for future updates) its called a nandroid backup.
Then root it and restore, or install a brand new custom already rooted rom

Afaik know you can restore apps on any rom with carbon. Watch out with restoring system data, it can crash the rom.
Because some custom roms have more changes and if you restore system parts it will break the rom. But apps should not be a problem. The most important thing is that you do a nandroid backup of the stock rom. The rest is easy to setup new in the worst case.

I have unlocked the bootloader, i think i have flashed the recovery, downloaded nandroid and still says i need root, so i downloaded the superuser thing and when i try to install the binary thing it says there is an error. Anything i can do?
Update: I have learnt Its all good now.

I googled a lot, I searched a lot here, but I did not find what I searched for.
I am thinking about testing the new Version of Cyanogenmod, the problem is that I in fact never did anything like this.
I want to set back the device to manufactures setting and then backup the original LG Software, so that I can go back to the standard before selling, or if CM isnt quite mine.
Anyone tips or links how to manage that?

After rooting and unlocking,make sure you place the efs backup somewhere safe. You can also make a nandroid backup and restore it if you don't like cm. or you can use kdz updater to flash stock firmware.

No, these are different things. EFS backup is to save your butt in case something happens with your IMEI. This is one of the most important things, don't overlook it! Nandroid backup is a "snapshot" of your existing ROM, including all your installed apps and their settings. This is the easiest way to get back to your previous ROM after experimenting with others. And KDZ is not a backup - it's a factory image that will return your phone to the exact same state as it was when brand new.

the nandroid backup is like a restore image for windows. you will have all apps/settings from that time saved. here is a scenario:
1. On clean stock rom,root and unlock(unlock will also flash cwm recovery). Place FREEGEE folder somewhere safe.
2. Enter recovery mode and make a backup.
3. Flash any other rom ...and if you don't like it, restore the backup you made earlier.
4. Restore EFS with freegee.
5. Use Unroot from supersu.
6. Backup all your files(photo and other media to pc) then do a hard reset.
7. You will have a clean stock/official rom,like it came from factory.
All of this can be simplified by backing up your files and use kdz updater,followed by a hard reset. .It takes less time and it's safer.

When you unlock the bootloader with freegee, it automagically makes a backup of the EFS,amongst other things(like bootloader state,imei,partitions etc). It's enough to place that FREEGEE folder somewhere safe. If you ever run into troubles(like no IMEI shown or you just want to go back to stock without using KDZ updater),just restore with freegee. It will relock you bootloader and restore EFS(with imei).
Hey guys, sorry for all the newb posts ... I gave a try of a few ROM's and wasn't entirely happy with bits and pieces so I am going back to my ROM basically after setting up my phone from the initial Root and DRM key backup procedure. When I go to PhilZ dual recovery, and try adn restore it successfully restores teh system but not the data, and fails the restoration procedure.
From Googling, it seems i need to flash something over my phone to bring it back to a previous state, then the Nandroid will be compatible to restore? Is there a step # in teh guide that I should start from, or should I just start the entire root process from scratch again?

i had a similar issue after trying ResurrectionRemix. After a few hours, i gave up and reinstalled Stock 4.4.2 from scratch. But perhaps you might have a chance if you just install a plain CWM Recovery and copy the backup to the place CWM awaits...

Yeah thanks for the advice ... i just re-installed from scratch 4.4.2 and i still get "error while restoring data" !! annoying!
I got a few battery saving apps and one or two of them required xposed. now my phone keeps boot-looping. i tried deleting what i could find of the apps in twrp, it did not help. i dont want to remove my root, custom kernel, and all my custom stuff in general.. and i have apps that i cant log out of without losing everything, such as chats, unread messages, etc. so basically i REALLY dont want to factory reset. ive done that probably 5 times over the past few months of having an android phone. what should i do? help

Can you mount userdata partition in TWRP? If so back up right away and move the backup data off your phone before continuing.
Do you have a TWRP backup you can restore? Start with system and boot. If you are lucky the bootloop is because of changes you made in system and this will get you booting.
If not, see if you can restore boot and system from factory images.
Worse case, you might need to factory reset again and reinstall yet another time.
Reflash rom, kernel and supersu. You shouldn't lose anything doing that.

im a newbie to all of this.. what will mouting user data partition do, and how do i do it?
backups dont work because i dont have enough free storage. i do have one backup but it was back when i restored my phone to factory settings.
what will restoring boot and system from factory images do, and how do i do it? will i lose all the customization i have on my phone?

Lesson learned bud. Half of the reason for TWRP and CWM is to have a full recent/current backup. Its always been like this. All roms, tweaks, xposed, write-ups or threads all say "make a backup" A backup is needed when something goes wrong. Notice the word "when" its not a if something goes wrong. Playing with androids involves way to much stuff and things do go wrong. Everytime your gonna do something just make a backup and delete your previous backup. Keep the backup on a sd card and delete the previous one. You put yourself in a situation like street racing on the freeway in a thunderstorm on new years eve. Not being a **** but for years and years now there a thousands of tutorials on this stuff. How to use adb, fastboot, twrp, soft brick, hard brick, de-brick tool. I don't know where the link is but I have a xposed script to flash in recovery that disables xposed and all modules from recovery in case of a bad module. If that can be found still I suggest that using xposed
FYI. The two replies before this told you what to do. If your looking for a easy everything is 100% going to be ok and you won't lose your text messages its probably not going to happen.

If you are on the stock rom, flash the stock boot.img and stock system.img either in TWRP or via fastboot will erase any mods in /system (including Xposed). This will return you to a stock setup. Your apps, sms, and data would be retained.
To do this, download the factory image that matches your rom base. The July OTA is MTC19Z by the way. June is MTC19V, you'll have to remember which one you were on. This can be found on Google's Nexus factory image website. Next, unzip the downloaded file then flash the boot.img and system.img in TWRP (transfer the files to your phone). Alternatively, you could learn to use fastboot. Follow section 10 of this amazing guide by Heisenberg, but flash only boot.img and system.img.
You *should* be able boot up and learn from your mistakes as others have said. If you still have issues, factory reset and charge this loss to the game.
