[Q] Native camera aspect ratio

I was just wondering if the 16:9 mode that our camera defaults to is the native aspect ratio because I know I had to switch to 4:3 on my S4 to get the full 13MP resolution. I was just wondering if anyone knows if it's the same way on the One or if the lens natively shoots 4MP in 16:9

It's default to 4mp either way. It just swaps the format between 1520x2688 and 2688x1520. It comes out to 4085760 pixels which is just a little over 4mp.

camera settings for 20mp shots

Hello everyone,
Want to know how some images get shot in 20mp as below while some show 16mp in details
Do we need to change settings in order to shot always in 20mp ?
main camera is 16mp and second camera a.k.a. low light camera is 20mp, so there is nothing to be get confused about.
Thanks for the info. Does it mean pictures taken in low light or dark rooms with flash are 20mp, whereas brighter surroundings are always 16mp
Use the hq option in the hdr settings, this will always use the 20mp camera

camera settings problem

Good afternoon people.
I bought an S9 2 weeks ago and yesterday I noticed that when I put the maximum resolution of the camera (12mp) to take pictures it automatically changes to 7.9mp every time I reboot. And when I select the camera to be in full screen, it goes back to the initial configuration without me touching anything.
Is this normal?
Thanks.
Just found out. When i choose the maximum resolution it changes to 7.9 because i tuen the full screen mode on camera. And when i put back the 12mp resolution, the full screen mode turns off.
I'm gonna leave this here in case it's useful to someone else.

Full screen mode = 18.5:9 aspect ratio, if you check the highest 18.5:9 aspect ratio available in camera settings you'll see there is only one and it is 7.9 MP
12MP = 4:3

Unable to capture 12mp images using stock camera app

While using stock camera app, in photo mode , the images were captured in low resolution i.e, 0.7mp 720*960 by default. Unless I use pro mode, all other modes are capturing images at 0.7mp. The case is even same with selfie camera
Only pro mode capturing images at 12mp resolution. But in pro mode we can't use selfie camera.
Please help me out

Question 3x zoom in camera app doesn't switch to telephoto camera

Hello
I got the Fold4 a few days ago and still figuring things out
I don't seem to understand how the stock camera app switches cameras
There are 3 'predefined' optical zoom options at the bottom:
1. .6x - Assuming this is the 10MP ultra-wide camera (top camera, furthest from the flash LED)
2. 1x - Assuming this is the main 50MP wide camera (middle camera)
3. 3x - Assuming this is the bottom 12MP 3x telephoto camera (bottom camera, closest to the flash LED)
The thing is - if I cover the bottom camera with my finger and toggle all the zoom options, none of them show a covered camera.
It seems my assumption is right about 1 and 2, but the 3x zoom option also uses the main 50MP middle camera, and it just crops the image
Only going digital zoom of 10x or above makes it switch to the bottom telephoto camera
If I switch the camera app to video then it's a different story, 1x uses the main 50MP camera and 3x uses the 12MP bottom camera
Anyone has this issue or any information on it?
Just checked mine and it switches between all three cameras
I also just checked mine and when the 3:4 mode is selected then it will move between the 3 cameras based on when I select the preset 0.6x, 1x and 3x zoom.
However what I don't understand is when I can select the 3:4 50MP camera then there are no other preset zooms to choose... What is the difference between this mode and the 3:4 mode - are they both 50MP??

I think the regular 3:4 mode is only 12MP (3000x4000 resolution), maybe to save memory or to do produce better pictures with some algorithm.
the 3:4 50MP takes advantage of the full capability of the sensor
This option exists in most of their modern phones
The zoom camera will automatically default back to the main camera if the ambient light level is too low. Because the zoom lens has a smaller aperture it performs worse in dark environments. It is likely being triggered by your finger covering the lens. This has been the case with all multi lens camera phones that Samsung makes.

Thank you, I did not know that
Confirmed it by switching to 3x when all cameras are covered and uncovering only the 2 top ones
It will auto switch to telephoto camera when it gets bright enough
ty this fixed my zoom problem for pictures. but when recording video it does not switch can some one direct me to an app or to a fix please
