No service after custom rom flashing help??!?! - T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge+

I recently, like as of last, flashed my s6 edge plus g928T with the V.5 brx s8+ port. It works amazing no problems except one. I am having trouble getting service no internet and calls go through but no audio. I read that flashing the modem(?) will fix. I just dont know were to find the modems for my specific carrrier and phone model. If anybody could provide some insight that would be amazing.
Thanks
Alex

There may be a few causes to your issue. If the rom you installed isn't specified for the T variant, then the kernel may not have the required components for the call audio to work (I had this issue myself with a LOT of roms) In this case there isn't much you can do that I know of except try another rom. If you'd like an s8 port, I got Khongloi's to work on my G928T practically flawlessly. The rom's thread can be found here and if you need clearer instructions on how to install like I did they can be found here.

Usually caused by the boot.img i tried to use a boot.img from your version 4 and it did the same thing, i then stuffed it with the system folder from the latest firmware and it fixed just fine.... I have also noticed some roms have the boot.img in a sub folder instead of the root of the rom and notice if I copy the boot.img from the sub folder to the root of the rom it fixes this issue... and like with SMOKKIE ROM you get the red letter error on first boot that the kernel in nonpermisive I believe and in that case I just used the boot.img from my builds and the system folder of your choosing then check the prop update.script and any other associated file like .config folders etc..

Another way GSM Unlock for US Carriers and returning from d801 to ls980

So is there any other way of gsm unlocking the LS980 for US carriers (T-mobile for me) without being on the two specific roms that do this? Like say Vanir, or omnirom, or the Glex rom? I see the build.prop method mentioned a lot but not the actual process for it, and does that work for US carriers? Also, I flashed Justin's stock JB rom on my ls980 so its going to say its a d801, how do i go back to my ls980 status? I may or may not have accidentally my backup too... any way to undo this without using the lg flash tool?
justin posted a guide on how to port pretty much any rom from any of the other carriers:

So far Ive tried the energy rom in the tmobile dev section and the stock international version (d802). Both worked well and I especially liked the d802 because it had the fm radio app and it worked great. Some other users have ported verizon roms as well.
Ive also tried the build prop method with modest success:

Look for post #423 and remember ti use lowercase "spr" (credit to MA7MOD_GSM)
Unfortunately the build prop method has a few quirks. You have to dial a "1" before dialing a number otherwise the dialing app crashes. Also I couldn't get wifi tethering to work properly. Eventually I settled on the energy rom and its been my daily driver for about 2 weeks and I cant complain much.
I dont know if you can successfully flash a ls980 and get back on the stock rom without lg flash tool. If you want to go back to stock Id stick to the tried and true method namely the stock tot file and lg flash tool. Follow the instructions here: (credit to hyelton)

Any idea as to whether trying the romn compare method listed in Justins instructions would work with the base and another sprint rom. I believe the rom is called d3rp or something similar.

Thats a good question. I cant speak from experience but Id imagine that any stock based spring rom would still have the usa gsm carrier lock. Now if I remember correctly some users have reported that using the build prop method then flashing a sprint AOSP rom unlocked the phone for usa carriers. Again I havent tired it myself but its somewhere in the unlock thread here:

Ah, I tried the rom porting method with an ATT rom but it woyldn't boot. It got past the lg logo and got stuck on a black screen and at the top left it said Fastboot and under that it had a number code. I managed to restore from backup using twrp but any idea what that was or how to get past it?
Which ROM did u try? Also did u clear cache/dalvik before and after installation? Try any of ROMS in the international section. Ive ported a few international ones and never had a problem. also Im pretty sure that justins Tmo port has worked with att sims,

It was called something along the lines of grievous or grievious rom and yes, I wiped everything and I always clear both caches but it wouldn't boot and got stuck on the fastboot screen. I replaced all the necessary files although I did notice that the rom did not have the loki folder at all but I copied it anyway, is that maybe why that happened? Also, do you remember what other roms you've tried besides the energy rom?

Hi
Hi , I have flashed JUSTIN ROM posted in post# 239
It works fine , I have one issue and one query
- I can't set up any APN , by default it's T-Mobile. Even though I can add apn manually I can't select as there is no select button next to the apn.
Please note I am using this ROM in India/Airtel network (Need urgent help on this as no DATA is active)
- Is there any Kitkat version of this ROM
I have also attempted to use another ROM , following the instructions as per post #410
But after flashing my phone stuck in LG logo.
- Do I need to flash some other modem
- ROM which I were trying to flash is T-Mobile stock debloated (Kitkat) and I compared and did file adjustment against Justin's ROM (Sprint - T-Mobile , post#239 )

[APP][SNAPSHOT]Dual-Boot Patcher - Even On /Data!

REMEMBER THIS IS A SNAPSHOT BUILD, THAT MEANS THE APK IS BUILT AS SOON AS CHANGES ARE PUSHED FROM THE MASTER HIMSELF @chenxiaolong
I'm proud to present the first dual boot project for the Qualcomm-based Samsung Galaxy S4! This project started off as a feature in my ROM, but not anymore. This will allow any two ROMs (soon, three) to be installed at the same time. It works by patching the secondary ROM's installation scripts and boot image to load the ROM files from an alternate location (/system/dual, /cache/dual, and /data/dual). Because of the way this is implemented, no changes to the primary ROM are necessary

Tested Personally myself @ktetreault14 with the G920T Xtresolite 5.0.2 ROM (found here) as my primary rom. I then used @eousphoros 5.1.1 Debloated V2 ROM (found here) as my secondary. I even have a Sprint OE2 rom I was testing in a third slot. You might wonder how this is possible. All thanks to chenxiaolong's brilliant multibooting system. He has now added in the ability to install roms straight from your /data partition All without touching your primary rom. You could be stock rooted and have no problems as long as it isn't aroma. (In which case I think you could alwasys use flashfire) The S6 Edge didnt have a very large /system partition (only 4.05 gb ) and /cache was nothing to brag about either (for those inquiring minds it is 304.7mb) So naturally I asked the amazing quick chen if there was any way I could Install it to my ~25gb /data partition, within days he whipped something up... But enough with the story get on with the tutorial and show me the downloads... Ok Fine.. Here. We. Go!!!!!!!!!!!! :fingers-crossed:
TUTORIAL AND PICS AND VIDEOS
I'm Assuming you have the apk downloaded and installed. Also you have the rom and, if you need it, the kernel already downloaded on placed on your phone's memory.
Step 1| Open the apk, Swipe right from left edge, Patch Zip File.
Step 2| That is obvioulsy not your phone so lets change that. Click jflte and select zerolte in the dropdown. (BTW all those other phones are supported too.)
Step 3| Change where you would like it to install too. (Most likely going to be /data unless the roms are heavily debloated or AOSP) For the purposes of this tutorial it is going to /data
Step 4| Name your ROM. Pick Your ROM.
Step 5| Ignore The Information Here, Scroll down, Tap to begin patching. Do as many times as you would like
Step 6| Open hamburger menu, ROMs, click the FAB (Floating Action Button), click +, pick patched rom.
Step 7| Keep Installation Location or change if you are not sure. Do as with many zips you would like to install.
Step 8| Click checkmark in top left corner.
Step 9| Reboot and you will boot up into new rom
IF YOU WOULD LIKE TO SWITCH ROMS
Step 1. Open App
Step 2. Click ROMs
Step 3. Click Rom you want to boot to
Step 4. Reboot

Nope. You only need root for the app if you want to flash in-app. Just patch rom and install from recovery
Nice Thread
Thanks for usefull thread
No problem. It's even another now
I couldn't get the 5.1.1 ROM to work. It says it's unsupported and fails to flash.

Hopefully we get more Roms options soon, loved this on my S3 switching between 2 different setups, currently we have what, one Rom 5.02 and a stock 5.1.1 without root?

Yes I agree thanks for making this thread!
App sharing problem
I didn't check the box that it says to check if you want to share info from one partition to another but it is sharing. How do I stop that? I want to have one ROM for work and one for personal without the info of pics crossing over.
s6 edge?
This is posted in the tmobile s6 edge forum but you only mention using this with the s4. Is this actually usable on the s6 edge? I checked the threads of chenxiaolong from post #1 but I only saw reference to the s4 in his threads as well.
I'd like to dual boot my phone but this thread doesn't make me believe it works for us s6 edge users.
Yeah using it noe
It seems arter kernel not supported.

Jsut need to know if this is currently working for S6 Edge
I have the g920 flat s6t and haven't have any issues duel booting. Always had Sickness roms as my primary and with all his versions i had no issues with duel boot but now in his latest v9 built i am unable to duel boot. When i reboot secondary rom it stays at samsung boot logo, it does not go into recovery. When i flash the utility zip to switch to primary rom it boot loops and goes to recovery and none of the roms boots..so i reflashed sick as hell v7 and its duel booting good. The rom developer told me he have no change anything from v7 to v9 he just added some tweaks and xtra apps, don't understand why is not duel booting with latest rom. I did flashed the log file. I will attach it.

International ROMs work on S6Edge

Wow, Installed the CarHD International ROM on my S6Edge TMobile. (NOT pushing any one ROM. Just reporting results
Installed the Simple Kernel for the W8/TMobile variant:
https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=23991606952609432
Unsure if I needed to do the following, but flashed an in Call audio flash fix for the 920T (Non Edge) .
Just tested In Call audio and it works. FINALLY, since we all here are twiddling our thumbs waiting for the 5.1.1 official non leaked version roll out, it's SO NICE to now try International ROMs for our S6Edge TMobile variant PS,,,,I do like the boot animation as well as Inverted colors and Battery Mods on this ROM. Just my own opinion and will be trying out many International versions when I get a chance :good:

Yes: In fact in pulled up my location in my home in a blink of the eye. Never seen it lock that fast. GPS Test app.....13Ft accuracy. states 3D fix 16 satellites in view and in use.
EDIT: Pulled up one more app just to make sure. Google Maps was first reference, BTW.
Can you share the steps you took to flash the Rom, kernel and patch? Can you use the patch with another kernel or does it have to be with the simple kernel ? Also how s the battery with your setup ?? And finally do you have the edge features with the rom your using ???

Some stuff I can answer. Some it's not been long enough. I flashed the ROM, because I INCORRECTLY misread the thread about a kernel that fixed in Call audio but this did NOT flash on the Edge.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/gal...-stockmod-kernel-t3100395/page16#post61081515
So, do NOT use the above reference. I flashed that kernel and it would NOT update my KT kernel 5/28 date that others stated had GPS issues. Reading that thread there was a GPS patch for that KT Kernel and I was using that and the in call audio patch I had referenced in my first post. NOT trying to confuse anyone. Just giving background that after installing the ROM and using the patch and that kernel, I had no incall audio. BUT, I also noticed that the kernel wasn't installing, even though it was saying successfully installed. I checked in settings/about device and KT was still on board.
OK...enough Background. I found the current simple kernel for our edge I referenced and that worked along with the audio patch.
YES, edge features work. ONLY that Simple kernel I referenced works. I tried the 5/28 KT and the 5/18 KT kernels. NO in call audio. Deep sleep functions perfectly for me too, so I assume the battery times will be comparable to KT's. It's been 4 hours since I installed. I was at 92% at that time. I show 75% remaining as i post here and I have been listening to milk music last hour. Testing GPS for the other user. Some messaging and Browsing.
Order to install:
I factory reset after first setting up TWRP backup. The CarHD ROM offered an option to backup your EFS in Aroma installer. I picked that along with Factory wipe option. During the Install it asked for CSC region of choice. There was an option for United States with initials LRA. So I chose that.
After installing the ROM, I had KT on board, so I basically let the ROM boot up and I setup everything with KT running....but that's when I found out patching didn't help in call audio. So I basically recommend after your setup, go back to recovery and install the kernel. Then the audio patch file. THEN, delete Both cache files and reboot. You should get the Android upgrading all your user apps at this point and you should be good to go.
I'm sure you could probably flash the kernel and patch file, PRIOR to even first setting up, but I didn't do that so I can't tell you that will work. Can't hurt to try that.
INITIAL boot up before getting the Start Screen was a good ten minutes. It's NOT bootlooping. Just give it time. Get a cup of coffee and smile at the boot animation while waiting. It's definitely nice
EDIT 2:
I am copy pasting my original post so that the files are in one place here again:

Very interesting. Can anyone confirm. This would be HUGE!!
just as he said in his op, do not flash all 3 at once, it will work if u follow his directions to the t....
Flashing now. I am with Canadian Rogers so I chose the CSC to be RWC (since it was the only one with the "R", i think there are like 4 options that say Canada). Lets see and will report.
awesome, got it to work on my Canadian Rogers. A couple of weird things happened but so far so good!!!

I knew it would work. Not sure the CSC thing is really that critical. I know on my S5 I was using UK CSC codes on the early International F roms. I will try flashing all the stuff at same time before booting up, on next install try, but I have to say I like this ROM a lot so far. Just discovered the gradient settings for the status bar. Swipe to the right from Home screen to get the OTA updates, themes, 3Min Battery stuff, etc for this ROM. Some of the inverted colors make a few apps hard to see menu choices correctly. Had that issue with Alliance a few times depending on theme choices and all the color options. Just an FYI.

did you see that Ktoonz posted a unified kernel yesterday? I wonder if that would work too, since that simple kernel supposedly leaves all sorts of Synapse stuff on your phone, even if you uninstall it..

I decided to try the carhd rom first, since its confirmed working.
I am just finished setting up the apps, and waiting for the "Android is upgrading" to make sure calls and stuff work..
Did you guys set up Viper on here yet?
I'll try Echoe in a day or 2, after checking out carhd for a bit...If you try Echoe before then, please let us know as well if this same procedure worked well on it; it should, but you never know!

How to Install an International Rom using Twisted Kernel For MM

I am successfully running the latest CarHDRom V.22-3 on my Tmobile SM-G925T variant, running Android 6.0.1 using the Sickness just posted Twisted-MM-V1 kernel and a call audio patch by Mr.X for MM. Yes...call audio is now working perfectly with the twisted kernel and the Sickness I know is about to release a V2 anytime now. I am NOT endorsing any one ROM. I only am giving a method I used to have this working for the first International ROM on our TMobile variant. No WiFi calling if you have to ask. That's a lo priority for me. If it is higher up for you, then just disregard this
I basically did a Nandroid backup first of my last XtreStol 3.3 MM setup. Have the ROM, kernel, and audio patch ready on your SD card. Bootup to TWRP. Do a full wipe. Everything except for Internal storage. Then flash the Aroma installer for the ROM, which offers a leave everything alone or a full wipe. Choose full wipe. It also offered two kernels or leave as is. I chose to leave as is since I basically did a full wipe and planned on using the Twisted kernel.
Now, after I flashed the ROM, I UNTICKED the reboot automatically option. I then flashed the new kernel. I did NOT chain flash the audio patch since I did NOT know there would still be a call audio issue at this point. Anyways, I let the ROM boot up. It took a good 5-7 minutes to get to the startup screen so WAIT. You are NOT in a boot loop. I then rebooted to recovery, flash the MM audio patch and after a reboot...everything with call audio was NOW FUNCTIONAL
The link I am providing here for call audio patch will DIRECTLY DOWNLOAD IMMEDIATELY to your computer. That's just the way this link is. I have NO OTHER links to a direct download page for this particular patch. If anyone can find a regular link the pulls up a specific page showing the Mr. X Call audio patch for MM, then please feel free to add to my post.

Lastly and MOST IMPORTANT.....There are TWO versions of the Kernel. One for the S6Edge and one for the S6Flat. Make sure you choose correctly for your model.
Thanks a lot, i'll try to flash by this manual...
Nice. Thanks. Does call audio simply not work on the carhd rom? I've been rocking xtresto with twisted kernel with no in call probs. 925t

Hey nice Ya I totally get that. thanks for the reply. So pretty much call audio will not work on international without the patch.

The way it is right now and with CardHD, the answer is yes. Not sure if this will be fixed with kernel updates, or if it's more ROM specific. But at least NOW...we don't have to wait for Tmobile based ROMs
It works, thank you so much, im running CarHD without problemas
This method works only with CarHDrom, I tried 5 different international rom, they all failed...

That's sad. Didn't have too much interest in carhd, but was really wanting to flash criss cross rom. Did you try that one?
*Edit - installed crisscross rom without issue. had to flash call audio patch, but works great.

Enjoy!!!!

You aren't giving any information other than a statement that it failed. Can't help here much with a post like that. Specifics as much as you can add. And my FAQ was specific for TMobile based hardware...S6 or S6 Edge. Is that the exact variants you state fail?

Which Roms can be installed with QI15 firmware

I have purchased yet another note 4 for the grandson. His firmware is QI15. Original plan was for me to use it, but since my Pixel 3a XL is still yet a lease I might as well use it. Plus it is a lot faster anyway.. His mother does not have the money to buy one for him, so I figured what the hell, he can have it.Which roms can he use.. I no longer have mine, but will root this if it is still possible.. From reading you can't downgrade from MM to LL. But can you downgrade to a earlier version of MM? Thanks.
inYes, that is correct but also cant downgrade the bootloader/modem. That is because of fused 5, binary 4. and te old official stock 5DQ15 .tar md5 can be fashed via Odin. Any other stock firmware below that has a fused 4 and flashing will result in a bricked device.
If your already on 5DQ15 and wish to flash customer roms then use TWRP and make a back up of all partitions to external sd. The any custom rom for Sprint Note 4 (sm-n910p) on Marshmallow are/should compatible. Basically, follow the instructions provided by the rom developer but do not flash a different bootloader or modem. Other than that follow all other institution. For best results, start in setting , sustem update and turm of automatic updates then update PRL and Profile beforehand. Developer Option and usb debugging enabled.
Rooting the Sprint Note 4 on 5DQ15 still possible? Yes 100% SuperSu or Magisk are the preferred root methods.

Also recommend you start with a stock deodexed rom as a base before flashing other custom roms. Rom only
https://forum.xda-developers.com/no...tock-deodexed-debloated-pk1-12-11-16-t3517454
or
https://forum.xda-developers.com/note-4-sprint/development/rom-t3568075
then reboot and give it time to properly set up set up. Check if hotspot is visible setting and check your apn settings. If all looks good and it should the return to TWRP and once again make a back up and rename (2019-10-05-deodexStockNoroot.....) so not to be mistaken with any other backups. After that flash root .zip and/or a custum rom of you choice.
I use the BeastMod r61 kernel by Freeza on a N4 Dtux V9 Legend rom. Fixed issues with network connection.

I 100% agree that not being able to downgrade sucks big time. I hear all the hipe about new Android OS updates but there are advantages of older versions. In 2018, I searched for a replacement with a lower bootloader but simply couldn't find one. Knowing that peope were bricking there device and Odin fails I decided to get one in fair condition. Being the type to mod and flash yet unsure of what ir how to do that as custom roms are specific to bootloader and modem. I figured, I'll practice with a cheap on incase I hard brick. At the time there didnt seem to be specific information on what rom worked with 5DQ15. I started out with Stockist Plus tidbits Q15. My old Note 4 was on [MOAR v2.1] [ULTIMATE Note5 Hybrid] on lollipop 5.1.1. and had lost of customizations prebuild. So going from the Mother Of All Roms (MOAR) on lollipop to Stockish Q15 on marshmallow, just sucked. It didnt take long before I started taking calculated risks with flashing and porting, even from other models and variations. Stepping out side the box but within boundaries. For instance, the n910f is an international version but much of its software is compatible with the n910p. For instance, this one works on n910p with most stockish roms on Sprint Note 4. With Custum roms it may conflict depending on the setting. If stockish rom or custom rom come with a "rom control"app (interface) and .zip in the link bellow come with "rom control" app thin it is not compatible. One cool feature is it adds "multiple user" in setting.
https://forum.xda-developers.com/note-4/themes-apps/utility-rom-control-note-4-stock-roms-t3586944
These n910f worked for me and has the advantage of separate .zips moding specific parts but warn that one of these .zip in the link , I believe its the "settings theme" .zip when flashed removes "hotspot" from the settings. Just 6.0mm zips are compatible on dq15 n010p.
https://forum.xda-developers.com/note-4/themes-apps/theme-customize-galaxy-note-4-n910f-t3017621
The GRX is one of my favorites for stockish roms. It can be compatible with custom roms but its a complicated process. Im guessing it should work with the N7 hybrid rom. Its relatively easy and offers nice smooth customizations. Its a good idea to chech the setting of both settem and "setting GRX" as to avoid conflict. If you find it on XDA even better. For me, I find it to be the best thing on 6.0mm.
https://www.google.com/amp/s/androidfit.com/grx-touchwiz-mod-v8-apk-for-any-samsung/amp
And the PK1 hotspot mod will work as long as the hotspot is in the main settings.

Good luck to you and your grandson rooting and moding.

If you install Busybox with the N7 hybrid kernel I offer a suggestion.
Busybox by Stephen (Stericson)
I never installed the Dr. Ketan rom but I did look at the Touchwiz launcher provided in the .zip and it is a MM. Dont know why you got FC's . Most likely its our latest firmware that to blame.
Wish I could remember what it was I flashed to get that in my settings as I think I remember you wanted that feature.
