Pie control? - Google Pixel 2 XL Questions & Answers

Does anyone know of any module that is similar to the quick app edge swipe thingy that the s8 has? Also, are there any mods to change tnt ugly charging screen when the phone is off?
Any tips help

There is literally an app called "Pie Control" on the Play store that works extremely well.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=jun.ace.piecontrol&hl=en
I edited my build.prop to disable the built in nav bar and have been using Pie Control exclusively since I got my phone over 2 months ago. It's been flawless in daily use. I highly recommend it.

I've tried both LMT and the Pie controls app. I prefer LMT because there is more customization especially with the icons. I have made my pie control entirely transparent so now it just looks like I'm doing gestures to navigate my phone. As far as the app side bar thing the OP is asking for, you could make something similar to that using either Pie controls or LMT by making the buttons of the Pie open specific apps. It would not be straight like the samsung one though, it would be curved like the pie controls normally are.
An alternative I would suggest is using the Edgesense+ magisk module (the thread is somewhere in this Pixel 2 XL forum) which allows you to remap the squeeze feature of this phone and you can remap it to open a sidebar.

Edge Sense is perfect.

Is the LMT also able to have multiple rows like Pie Control? I looked at some screenshots and videos but only ever seen one row. @t0pstar

I said that badly, I meant additional rows.

[Q] Possibly changing the Statusbar look on AOKP 4.2.2

Hello all,
I have been wondering whether what I am about to ask is even possible, but I really do hope that there is some kind of magic trick that will allow me to achieve it. I understand that it might sound foolish, but please hear me out, and any kind of help will be much appreciated.
So ever since I moved to the GSIII, I was immediately on AOKP 4.2.1, and obviously with JB 4.2.1 comes the whole newly redesigned statusbar, like the one below. Now I'm on 4.2.2, which is of course not much different than 4.2.1
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",
"lightbox_start_slideshow": "Start slideshow",
"lightbox_stop_slideshow": "Stop slideshow",
"lightbox_full_screen": "Full screen",
"lightbox_thumbnails": "Thumbnails",
"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
Now, I am a little unhappy with this statusbar, especially with the seperate tab for the toggles. I am probably much too used to the old design, but I feel it was simpler and faster. I know you can access the toggle section with a 2 finger down swipe, but the problem is, I hide my statusbar so I can't perform that method. Another pet peeve I have is the lack of the weather notification on the statusbar, like that in AOKP 4.1.2, shown below.
Please, is there any possible way for me to have the old style 4.1.2 AOKP statusbar, without having to revert to 4.1.2? Again, this may be a very stupid question, since I know it is an app or a modification but a part of the system itself, but anything that I can will be great. Please help. Thank you!
I'm not a dev but I think you're hooped my friend. I was originally like you and hatred it but now I have come to... Peace with it. I swipe down for notifications and up (nova launcher gesture) for toggles menu. The weather thing is an app or maybe a future addition to your favorite rom. I'm not sure if I'd switch it now if I had the choice. Hmmm
Sent from my SGSIII on Bell running Task650's AOKP
You can set a swipe shortcut so that when you swipe on the right or left side of the status bar it brings down the toggles, and when you swipe down anywhere else you get notifications.
Not sure if that helps OP, but that may help IAN1331 from using a swipe up feature of NOVA
I use Nova Launcher Prime, and I have a gesture (swipe down from anywhere not just top) to open the notifications tray. There is an option to open notification OR the new options panel. That way when you swipe down, it opens the old style one.
I think the old notification bar was better. I am shocked by the lack of my beloved, simple, and fabulous old toggle. :crying:

Change height of on screen buttons/area?

Like my title says I'm curious if there's a way or an app to easily change the height of the on screen buttons maybe make him half as short as they are now
Sent from my HTC One_M8 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
I'm interested in this too. Hopefully there is a way. Waists too much screen space
My suggestion is to just root the phone and install GMD Auto Hide Soft Keys... I did that today, and it's amazing being able to use the full 5" screen for all my apps. Navigation buttons are just a touch/swipe away too.

I tried about GMD Auto Hide Soft Keys, but I don't like having to swipe up to show the keys. I wouldn't mind making them just a little bit shorter.
However, if that isn't possible, I wouldn't mind GMD Auto Hide Soft Keys if I could use the stock HTC Sense 6 system icons for the navigation bar when using GMD auto hide. Is there a way to extract them and do this?

This app is wonderful! Easy to use and a ton of good ways to customize it.
anyone try gravitybox? that works great. change size and colors
Gravity box is the best

If you have see no sense in the overload of Gravity Box features and just want to set height of the Notification bar, I would recommend "Dimensions Editor" for Xposed Framework. You can even change the position of Toasts with it (also the Height of Notification Bar).
Trying still now.

Double tab for screen off not working in Nova Launcher

Is there a way to shut screen off with out the power button.
double tap on the statusbar to put it to sleep in Nova launcher. Its an extra step to unhide the statusbar if u have it set to auto hide in nova..but its easier than finding the power button.

Install Screen Off and Lock from the Play Store, assign double tap in Nova (Prime) to use that app et presto :good:
I can't get the recent apps to come up with a gesture on nova. I really want to make it so I can swipe up for recent apps

Set the gesture to a shortcut, choose Nova activities, scroll down System UI, then choose one of the two actives for recent apps. One is the old KK recents, and one is for Lollipop recents. Not sure which is which. I think the top option might be Lollipop.

There's only one thing under system ui that would have anything to do with recent and it's recent screens but it doesn't pull up recents

There's two.
Edit: didn't realize I was replying to a G4 thread... Uh, this is how it looks on my G3. Maybe LG broke something if it's no longer working on the G4.

G4 Looks like this.
That SHOULD be it. If it's not working, then it's not working, though.
I'd trouble shoot by trying that gesture on Action Launcher. It had a native "open recents" gesture that worked with the G3 without having to do this workaround that we used in Nova. If it still works in AL3, I'd message the Nova dev and point out that accessing recents on Nova with the G4 is broken. I should hopefully have a G4 this afternoon (going on my lunch). If you don't have a paid copy of AL3 to test yourself, I will if I can.
News:
Now Nova (prime of course) offers the knock off feature without any other app needed.
Look on gestures!

the thing that i hate about those skins its that the status bar its white and in a notched display looks horrible, and status bar option in the them covers the nav bar which its why i cant have both the new pie nav bar and black status bar unless someone made it
MIUI doesn't allow to change the navbar position. You can only flip them (back and recent position). To get custom navbar, use smartbar feature in cusrom that support it. AFAIK, RR, AOSiP, bootlegger have it. Here is example of mine, putting 7 buttons at the smartbar. I use them heavily for my quick shortcut and tied to automagic flow.

Hello, is there any solution to get a custom navigation bar on a non rooted Redmi Note 7?
I just need to add a soft button that enables me to scroll down the notification panel (a stock feature on LG phone, actually..).
Thanks in advance

Android 13 - Remove/Hide battery icon from status bar

Hi,
Does anyone know how to get rid of (remove/hide) the battery icon from the status bar, while still showing the battery percentage, particularly on stock Android 13?
This could have easily be done on previous Android versions through the Gravity box XPosed module however, no working version is currently available for Android 13.
Already tried :
Firefds Kit works fine and I have it installed, BUT it doesn't come with this feature.
I've tried AOSP Mods but it doesn't work on Samsung's stock Android 13.
The SystemUI Tuner app can no longer access Samsung's System UI.
I would appreciate any suggestion, other than the ones already mentioned above, that is known to be working on Samsung's stock Android 13.
Thanks!

You're welcome. Seems too easy, doesn't it?
Quickstar is a great moding app...
Don't forget One Handed Operation plus, it's not like what it sounds.
I use NavStar, Clockface and Task Changer a lot too. The app Double Tap as well.
Stock N10+ running on Pie with lots of UI bending apps. They use very little battery.

Right, it does seem too easy!? I was in denial for the first 5 seconds...
I still rely heavily on LMT, Tasker, Firefds Kit and other root-based customization tools but I'll definitely check out the other suggestions as well. Again, thanks a bunch!
