New OTA update - Razer Phone Questions & Answers

Guys that have the latest update that supposed to fix the speaker and camera, is the update any good. Im on Three UK and we haven't received the update yet but I see people are experiencing loads of new issues now, eg; screen flickering.
One person on razers forum said how the speaker volume is now even lower and the camera is sometimes either really bright or the image is half-cut. Some mentioned that the screen flickering is due to the adaptive display being on or when screen is on full brightness on 120hz. Phone lagging, restarting and freezing is also mentioned and
Can you share your experiences on this new update. Has anyone managed to do a hard reset to see if that is any good or did this update just totally mess the phone.

I took the update and am not experiencing any of these issues. I run it at 120hz all the time and the audio is very loud coming from Sony devices which have nice audio but much too low volume. Camera works fine, better than before the update. No screen flickering or reboots but I don't use display at Max brightness. I also don't use auto screen brightness.

I took the update and had none of those problems. Then I went ahead with TWRP. On one slot I have the new 2009 build. TWRP broke the WiFi and flashlight. On the other slot I have the 851 build. TWRP didn't affect anything on it, and the play store updated the camera app. The play store update did the same camera fixes as the 2009 build.

Clicking noise when playing back a video

I am having an issue with videos recorded on my LGG4. During playback on the phone or uploaded to Facebook, there is a constant clicking noise that can be heard over any recorded sound on every video. I have tested several different recordings and all are the same. Here is a short sample that you can listen too...

Bad phone or is there a easy fix?
Hi. I have the same playback issue on my G4. I tried recording with Google Camera and I had no problem, no weird sounds or whatever. I guess this happens only when using the stock camera app. Mine is updated to MM v20a.
Hi, same problem here. That's the second exchange with amazon, the first one had display issues (random white noise on the right half of the display) this one has the clicking noise during video recording on the left channel. Seems like it's related with the wifi module: disabling it the clickning noise disappears, but the audio recording is still bad compared to the previous g4 i returned to amazon.

I have the same issue. Strange that everything is fine when using different app. Looks like firmware problem ? Did you sort it out ? I have just updated my phone to Android 6.0 v20c .
guys, can you try turn off wifi then record video , do you still have clicking sound ?
if u use a case, try record without the case.
Hi. I have switched my wifi off and I did not notice any changes. Still I can hear clicking noise. I do not use any cases. Strange that everything is fine when I using google camera open app... I found out that lots of people noticed the same issue. It cannot be hardware problem...
I have the same problem, but ONLY and ONLY if wifi is on, i get clicking sound in stock camera WITH wifi on, in other apps i dont have it, but when i turn it OFF , clicking sound is gone... even when i record video and during recording i turn of wifi, sound instantly dissapears, for me it's the wifi problem, i can upload video if you dont belive me
I have the same clicking noise with or without wifi on. I did not notice any issues when using open google camera app. Looks like it is stock camera app fault ?

clicking sound comes near earpiece.what default camera does is that it records audio from secondary mic which is near earpiece.whereas 3rd party camera womt use secondary mic.that too clicking sound will come more when wifi/bluetooth is ON.
Same here, and clicking goes away with WiFi off.
Wanted to ask, did anybody return and got a replacement device based on this? Or even had it fixed by service?
I mean, are there devices that don't have this problem? Cause if there are, then it's a valid warranty/service request.
I have got my mother board replaced.

Was that the only problem it had? And is the problem gone now?
We purchased one of these in December and there was no issue with the phone. We had to return the phone for another reason and when we got it back it was updated to the latest version of Android Marshmellow (It was on Lollipop when it left) and the clicking was there. We also noticed a minor reduction in photo quality, not something I can put a finger on it, but when we first got it the photos were awesome, now they are not so clear, colourful, sharp.
Edit:
We sent it back for repair again due to the clicking and when we got it back (last night) nothing changed, it still makes the same noise.
I can stop the clicking but I have to turn off Wifi, Data and bluetooth and then it seems to go away.
As I'm new to Android I'm hesitant to see if I can take it back to Lollipop and see if it stops the problem.
What version of software are you on?
Does turning off Wifi, Data, Bluetooth help? Or does it just reduce the sound?
Do the pictures seem less then what a camera with these specs should have?
Marshmallow v20d. Yes turning off things makes the clicking go totally away. Can't comment on picture quality change, as I updated to marshmallow as soon as I got it.
Had mine sent two times in less than a month, on its way to the third this week.
First time was sent with this audio problem and battery swelling. They replaced the battery and the charging connectors, but said they could not reproduce the earpiece clicking noise during their tests, despite the fact that I had included in the phone a video example showing the problem, clear instructions on how to replicate the problem and the shop lady confirming - in writing - that she had tested and confirmed that there was a clicking noise problem. Problem was, when I received the phone from the first repair I was unable to test whether the audio problem was gone or not because they changed the last account associated to the phone, completely blocking me from accessing it and verify if the audio problem as still present.
Sent back a second time on the same day, with even more clear details on how to reproduce the audio problem - since they failed to reproduce the first time, I assumed it was still there - returned after a simple software upgrade and I was able to finally enter the phone. Came home, tested with WiFi (store's wifi was down) and the audio problem was still there, completely unchanged.
Tested without SIM (in case LTE/GSM etc. could be causing interference with WiFi), tested without SDCARD (at this point I was just trying to see what they did to NOT replicate the problem) and tested with 5GHz wifi, in case the problem was only with 2.4GHz bands. No change, the audio problem was always there.
After reading this thread, and other threads in different forums, I am certain that this is a hardware problem and I will demand that the store tech writes in the warranty sheet that he confirmed the problem, along with a very detailed step-by-step instruction guide to replicate the problem, video example included inside the phone and a link to video example hosted only for them to hear clearly what the problem is, just in case they fail to understand the obvious (https://youtu.be/oZOb8tIl5lw). Finally, I'm going to contact LG directly to report this situation and to take action if the incompetent brand techs fail to replicate and fix the problem yet again.
The only good part about all this is that they have been really fast, no more than week and a half (weekends included) for both "repairs".
NFC was the issue on my android Nokia 3
I have a brand new Nokia 3 running android 7.1.1
It also has the problem of audio clicks on video recordings. THE PROBLEM IS NFC. When NFC is disabled the clicks go away. Not impressed with a 2017 smartphone model having thus issue. Though Nokia probably have the Microsoft bug curse
I have the same problem with my 2016 LG G4. I sent my phone to LG Service and they replaced my speaker obviously not resolving the problem... now I'm sending it back again.

Camera frusturating problem

Hey guys,
I have a weired camera problem and I coudn't find anyway to fix it
The camera was working perfectly fine until one day It started being unresponsive sometimes and now I got to the point where it rarely responds!!!
When I open the camera sometimes it just shows black screen and I'm unable to do anything then after about 3 secs phone reboots and sometimes the camera app launches but the viewfinder is just black and sometimes it simply fc's!!!
I tried several camera apps (manul camera....) but in vain!
My first attempt to fix this was deleting data and cache for camera app! then I made a factory reset then I tried updating to android N DP4 and then I rolled back and in vain!!!
Once the camera srops working it will not work again until I reboot the phone and after I reboot it the camera will work for about 5 minutes to 1 hour then the problem starts showing!!!
Hope yo Guys can help me solve the issue I really like the phone and I don't wanna lose it!
Thx in advance!
Sounds like a hardware issue to me. I would send it in for warranty or repairs if possible.
Did you managed to get it fixed? I have the exact same issue. I think it first started happening after the latest security updates. I hope it's not hardware related, this phone just came back from lg repairs for faulty digitizer.
i got the same problem. i just try to install the final version of android 7.0 and hope the problem won't show again...
i'm anyway quite sure it's not a hardware problem, cause when the camera works it works great and shoots perfect photos and videos...i think it's the last security pack update which causes these problems, and maybe the solution will be the new security pack update, of september
I had the same issue, and I simply couldn't fix it by any means. It just started to happen after 3 months of use, and came out of nowhere.
I had to return it, luckily it was amazon......
Really weird.

Android Auto and Pandora crashing

Ever since I believe around the 3rd Android 9 beta update, pandora kept crashing on my Android Auto. I was hoping the full "street" version of 9 released yesterday would resolve this but it didnt. I also noticed the screen on my car blacking out at times and then coming back on during android auto. The problem is I can go a song or two on pandora and then it stops and says pandora inaccessible on the screen and then a new song starts playing. Sometimes, it will cut off 3 songs in a row within the first minute of each song. Its really frustrating and I cant tell if its a pandora thing or android auto thing. Used to think it was a beta thing but thats clearly not it anymore.
I do keep my phone in my cupholder area and was wondering if when the proximity or light sensor gets changed in there, would that affect anything? It didnt before, Im just wondering if theres any new settings that could be making that change.
My original pixel xl did that on the betas but I replaced that phone with a pixel 2 xl over the weekend and I haven't noticed it happening with the new phone.

I even tried turning off battery management in the app and lowering the audio quality like I read in a couple other places but neither worked. Its still crapping out and then starting a new song.
Just saw an update from AA so hopefully that works. Ill report back.

Sound from video in slit screen real low

So I been noticing that recently when I open any kind of video app in split screen, the sound get real low. If I exit split screen the sound comes back to normal. I am wondering if anyone else has this issue and if so how to fix it. I am thinking this issue started from the last update. I'm on android 10 security patch nov 1.

Question Flex mode issues after October update

Hi all,
Just wondering if anyone else has seen flex mode not behaving after the October update. Specifically, Disney Plus no longer seems to work in that mode, although in the Flex Mode settings it says it automatically supports flex mode.
I've also seen that flex mode videos on youtube now sometimes bleed into the lower screen when they didn't before.
I've restarted and cleared cache on disney to see if that helped but it didn't.
I'll let you know after I get the update?
T-Mobile Locked here and no update yet.

YouTube works fine, but you're right. Disney+ flex mode seems broken.
Factory unlocked US ZF3 on the latest update.

Thanks for the info. Just have to wait for an update, I guess.
I think my YouTube issue is because I've now noticed the crease in my Fold has gotten wider, as reported in another thread. All within normal tolerances, I'm sure.
Another issue (bug with the October update?) is that the notification widget for Spotify now randomly stops updating to the next song and gets stuck on one. I have to force stop Spotify and then open it again for it to correct. This also affects the lock screen now playing widget. I didn't have this issue at all before I updated.
