Has anyone got beta 5 from TMobile? - T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S8+ Questions & Answers

I still haven't received it. It's been like 5 days since it was released in the UK that I saw. Just curious

The last two beta updates I got them on a Tuesday around 6:30pm PST.
Maybe today we could get it

I been looking as well on mines, since it was announced last week... tried again this morning but no update yet.

yep, dont know why everyone stays in just TMO parts of the forums. All roms are compatible with all G955U phones. Well not all. Only the ones that invove AT&T,VERIZON,TMO,AND SPRINT. Once you flash just sitback and watch it switch to your carrier. AT&T part of the forums are good for updates, all you need to know is there on norbarbs threads. Verizon section has jrkruse who is an excellent rom builder. Sprint and Tmo are kind of the boring sections. In the Main screen of the S8+ part of these threads in Android Developement, you have another excellent rom builder, partcyborg. His roms are favored by many aand are excellent for speed. Back to the matter, thank you Kingaries79 for showing them the way. Guys just need to expand there is more going on out there than in this sub-forum.

I just got checked and got the update btw. T-Mobile S8+

Yes, just signed up for Beta today and they pushed the beta 5 immediately.

It's just luck. It appeared in the Samsung+ app all of a sudden. Was already giving up and then it appeared after a few weeks. But I think the beta testing is anyway over and they will roll out Oreo hopefully end of the month.

Where is Kitkat for SM-P605?

Has anyone asked Samsung and got any answers regarding the question in the topic? They already released Kitkat update in some regions for Wifi models, but no word of LTE model update anywhere.. Samsung's way of providing updates to their products is very annoying to say the least.

There is an update also for the old note, but for our LTE version nothing. I'm very impatient to have kit Kat on my SM-P605

There is no update for the N10.1-12; there's a single incomplete leak for the 3G version. Between the Wi-Fi, 3G, and LTE versions of the N10.1-14 taking in to account the dozens of different regions they're sold in it'll take months before everyone here receives their update. Some will get it early in the process and be happy and some will get it toward the end and be miserable. It's the way it goes every update cycle including the latter group *****ing here to no avail and swearing never to buy another Samsung device again. Lather.Rinse. Repeat.

It is exactly as you said I hate Samsung but there is not any other options!
I was eager to pay double times the price of this tablet and have this spec with apple build quality and support.
Well..
LTE is the expensive device most of times , and as i can see it always get late updates , my wife S4 LTE still didnt get kitkat , and my Note-2014 LTE the same , just dont get idea how they sort or choose witch one get update 1st , they should update latest devices to oldest

Did T-mobile release 5.1 OTA yet?

I heard the 5.1 T-mo OTA was supposed to be today. Can anyone confirm or deny this?

No not yet. Everyone is anxiously awaiting word from Mo Versi on twitter that the update has been approved and that OTA will begin shortly. He had previously said he expected approval on 7/17 and release on 7/20 but it hasn't happened yet.
I am not happy that TMO has been holding this up to the point where even AT&T got it out first and they are near the bottom in terms of releasing updates.

I actually saw the convo on twitter.. I read elsewhere that since they are behind the 8 ball that they may skip 5.1 and just dive into Android M when its released. Of course this is all rumor and speculation. I asked mo on twitter today if there was any news but he didn't respond.

No they're not skipping 5.1. They are so far behind in firmware they won't skip 5.1 on a flagship device like this. Most likely there was some last min bug with a piece of TMO bloatware that they had to correct. That's almost always the reason...

Hopefully they release it soon. I'm only looking forward to it so that viperone gets WiFi calling and HD calling working on the updated firmware.
"Meanwhile, Sentinel Republic claimed that HTC senior vice president for Product Management Mo Versi confirmed that HTC One M9 users under T-Mobile and Verizon will receive the Android 5.1.1 OTA on July 20."

That's the same article I read. It's not really a big deal to me either way. I'd rather wait a little longer and get a stable release than have them rush it out full of bugs.
Since there's been a bit of a slow down with the m9 and I'm getting bored with it. I am trying to get my hands on a nexus so I can flash the Android m preview. Will keep my m9 as my daily driver though.

Yeah I am with you. The fact that it has taken this long is ridiculous, we should have had this update weeks ago and it's likely held up with the crap bloatware from TMO we're all going to remove anyway...
Not sure it helps but I've been giving TMO and HTC hell on Twitter.

Since the action is so slow for the m9 I bought a nexus 5 last night... There's like 50 roms plus Android m for that thing! Too bad the phones not as a good of a quality as the m9.

This feature is supposed to be on the Samsung Galaxy grand prime or something like that , so it is doubtful it will come in this update , that device drops next month .

T-Mobile's Des tweeted- said possibly next week and will give an update on Monday as to status. They weren't done testing yet was the reason for delay. We'll see I guess.

AT&T Galaxy Note 5 forgotten

AT&T is a disgrace! Why haven't they updated the Note 5 yet when every other carrier has done so weeks and months ago. Even the Galaxy S5, a 2 year old phone is now getting the update on other carriers. I will definitely be switching carriers soon and I advise everyone to do the same.

Long , long time ago in fare Galaxy S7 Edge.
I don't think he cares what your data plan is or the fact you chose to sideload an update that isn't available through the network we pay for. I'm almost certain he was expressing his disdain for a company he is paying a good deal of money to and getting little from in return.

People like us that worry about an update is about 1% of the total sales of a Note series phone. ATT losing you means nothing let alone the about 100 people that care. People switch carriers daily, losing 1 and picking up another will happen in about 1 second.

Super simple as long as you have adb, usb drivers and the zip file. Just place the ADB and zip files in the same folder and launch a command prompt from that same directory. Took about 25 minutes to install and so far smooth sailing.
Thanks for the info but you lost me at adb lol. And having to back everything up sounds scary as well as not knowing if this would void the warranty

Super simple turned in to me downloading all sorts of programs and resetting my phone about a dozen times yesterday. End result is I'm waiting for the official update. I can rebuild an engine with my eyes closed. Sideloading OS upgrades on my phone? Not so much.
So unbelievably, I received a software update this morning which turned out to be nothing more than a security update. Still waiting.

Seeing as the phone is 40K-50K Rupees I think it's a fair price. It's also a breeze to use.
But to answer your question I believe that the only other way out there is to use an X Clip (which is like 100 bucks).
What is an X clip 100 buks equal to how much pkr
Sorry, 100 bucks is slang for $100. In pkr it's 10475.

According to Mo Versi, via email, the M9 is beyond it's 2 year life and will not be updated. Doesn't make sense since the other carriers received the update but it's now August and Verizon has no update.

Here is the body of the email I received 8/23/17. So I feel confident that he's being straight forward. I just hope Verizon pushes the update after they do the work.
Hi xxxxxxx,
Thanks for your email. We will provide the N OS update for M9 on Verizon. It’s planned to go to the lab soon (had an issue we had to resolve). Looking to enter lab next week, so as soon as I am confident we will get technical approval, I will let you know when we will start pushing the update to our customers. Thank you for your patience on this.

True that and i am just wondering why on earth i bought Snapdragon Variant anyway as Samsung only support their own processor first.
It's always that way, Samsung always rolls out updates to the big market carrier phones first and unlocked phones last.

True not too bad, only 2 months after their initial release (Dec 2018). :silly:
It was inferred by Samsung Care yesterday that I shouldn't be surprised with a March OTA.
Regardless, T-Mobile will need to be completed before us and they are still in the "development" phase of OneUI.
