Facebook Messenger Cropping Photo - Sony Xperia XA1 Questions & Answers

Hi, When I take a photo with Facebook Messenger own camera, the photo is getting cropped. Do you also have this issue?
I am using latest facebook Messenger downloaded from Play Store.
If I use an older Facebook Messenger ( https://www.apkmirror.com/apk/faceb...essenger-137-0-0-4-90-2-android-apk-download/ ) It works fine but photo has low quality.
I think it has something to do with DPI.
Phone's DPI is default.

[Q] Miui Question

Is there a possibilty for Integrated Facebook and twitter for better photo contact syncing ?
I believe no, as the issue is with Google compressing the images...
thanks would be awesome tho
Actually, if you go to your Facebook app, settings, you can set how you want it to sync. I have FB pics as avatars for all my contacts that are on FB, too, because of the sync.

Low Res Contact widgets: What do you use for contact widgets?

On my LG Thrill I used to use Go Contact Widget, then "Photo Contacts Widget" because it has larger contact icons. Both showed the pictures very clearly. Any contact widget I've tried on my SGIII displays their picture rather blury and pixelated. However When I click on their picture and it brings up the option to call/text etc the resolution is perfect.
Anyone have any input/advice on this?

Have you tried any of the apps available to sync HQ photos to your contacts (IE: Haxsync, etc.)? That may make a difffence.
May I ask what contacts widget you are using with your phone??? Any I've tried won't work.
Jelly Bean has also moved to using higher res contact images natively, so perhaps when this update hits it'll rectify this.

Sync the pictures with something like Facebook Contact Sync from the market that bring in HQ photos, it makes a difference.
What contact widget are you using on the S3? Are you using Touchwiz as your launcher or a 3rd party? I haven't found a single contact widget that works with touchwiz unless I use a third party app to sync the pictures (but then lose syncing other info from facebook.)

hyperdrive+albums+handcent SMS can't view pics.

so I really like the albums app in hyperdrive but I am having an issue with it while using handsent SMS. if i get an mms pic and tell handsent to open in albums the pic does not display. works fine if i tell it to use the gallery.
any ideas?

[Q] Instagram Photos are uploading at 100% zoom

So I have to use a third party app to post to instagram such as Layout from IG themselves. When I choose a photo from the gallery to upload to IG, it's zoomed in to 100% and I can't zoom out to get the full photo in. I've changed LCD density to 540. Could that cause the issue?
Thanks in advance. Photo attached of my issue.
Lol that is awesome.

Replacing default Gallery App with Google Photos

I am coming from the GP4, and here's my issue. When I utilize an app such as Facebook Messenger, Telegram, and select a photo it automatically defaults to pulling the photo from the Samsung Gallery. Well, when I had a GP4, it would pull from Google Photos regardless, even if the image wasn't local, it would download it from the server and send. There's no way to change the default galleries app that I know of. Does anyone have a workaround for this? Is it changeable?
There's also the issue of taking a photo or video with the default camera app and if you happen to remove the Samsung Gallery APK through the console, pressing on the preview bubble of the just taken picture or video results in an error popup that there is no gallery app installed even though I have Google Photos installed.
I wish Samsungs version of Android would be more open and not so limited to their "core" apps.
