[Q] Edge screen panels

I know its early days and not many people have a Note Edge yet. I really hope someone can help me out on this when they do?
My Note Edge (Korean model), does not have the Twitter, Yahoo sports ticker or the yahoo news panels. This is very frustrating because I was really looking forward to these. I wonder once its available in the US, if someone would be able to extract these panels from their roms somehow?
Im stuck with some panels showing Koren information from a source called Daum.
By the way, there's a new panel available for download - its for the S Planner, I love it! It shows upcoming appointments. Only downside is that it will only show appointment the day.

Same boat. In Korea... Daum ticker.

Well i have my phone but the problem now is root.
I wont be able to pull the ticker from my phone without rooting it first. I would try to note 4 method but i dont wanna be the first to try it lol.

Thanks for even considering, mate. I wouldn't expect you to start messing with a phone you just purchased for huge amount of money.
I might try to root mine if there are some step by instructions. I am just not very familiar with rooting since I haven't done one for ages.

Ok root explore has access to the system, but its in read only mode. So i can copy that, just not sure what the edge panel apk is called. Ill check it out later on tonight and see if i can find something
Then maybe for the time being it can resign it and able you to install it as a apk vs system apk.
Not sure its been a while since i done that.

For what it's worth when I had the Docomo version of the edge I rooted via some Japanese dev sites that got it done very quickly. And to add custom recovery I was able to use my own tmobile TWRP file and it added custom recovery no problem. So I'm sure it's a very similar process because they basically same sans the edge screen

I tried that explorer after your message I could see the Cocktail Ssysrem apk but it doesn't list any individual widgets. (Image attached).
Phone is full of sk telecom apps.

Why did bloody Samsung or sk telecom put these useless Daum ticker panels on the phone I got??? Why couldn't they just leave the Yahoo panels on it???
How do I get hold of these panels???

you're really not missing anything with the twitter app it only shows trending terms with it had your timeline

I think it's something called Cocktail bar apk. I posted a screenshot on page 1. I'm not 100% if the edge panel apps are there though?

Yea the frist one is for short cuts.
the second one is carrier depended.
I'm sure soon enough someone will make another panel that will be for custom short cuts.

i have a korean 915k anyone knows how to delete those korean panel ?

The G3 had a secret menu that allowed you to change some build.prop properties or with an editor. You could simply allow dual screen on all apps which isn't allowed stock.
I edited a lot of the G3 environment through build.prop. Is there something similar for Samsung devices? Not sure if it's on all devices or not.

Not sure about deleting unless you have root access.
I am not rooted yet. I have disabled these panels in my 915S.
The apk you need to disable is 'portalservicewidget' this under the application manager > All.
If you want to disable the useless quick access panel than disable the Live UX apk.

Build.prop is on all android devices. Also samsung has CSC settings you can change to effect some settings.
CSC is in /system/csc/

I just see it on my Galaxy Note 3 and I think it's also available on our Tab S, but unfortunately not found

Thinq does not have advanced messaging option

I bought 2 US thinqs from t-mobile the other day. Both have the same base version. Security version. I've compared every setting I can think of. But one of the phones does not show Advanced messaging options in settings. No alias settings. My. Phone shows a click able menu called "advanced messaging" but the other phone does not. Anybody know anything about this?

My silver T-Mobile G7 has advanced settings, and I'll get back on here after I check my wife's red one. What do you want from advanced settings, and what does alias do?

I'm trying to figure out why I can't get delivered and read reports when my friend and I text each other. We don't have this problem with anybody else. Just each other. This seems to be the only setting that could be causing the issue. Delivery and read reports are working with mms between the two phones but not sms. Alias seems to just be another version of your personal profile on the phone. Not too concerned about that function but it seems to be connected to since she doesn't have that setting either

I think it was a bad installation of the update. Factory reset seems to have solved the problem

Thanks that did it! I see some people don't know what advanced messaging is, but now I can see when my wife is typing or has read my text messages on her Galaxy S8.

I don't think it ever had wide angle in the front. That's why there's two lenses on the back.

I read the specs, and it shows that the front has it? And someone confirmed it was there before the update :laugh:

Can't find the preferred network mode

Hi, I'm new here so excuse me if I'm making any sort of mistake.
I've got a realme x2 Chinese variant and it's a great phone other than a few issues with coloros which by the way all fixable when i searched the options well.
Any way i can't find the preferred network mode 4g or 3g in options and i think I've saw that option before i deleted all unecessary apps.
So what I'm saying is does your x2 have the option or not ? And if not can you recommend an app for that because i tried a couple and they didn't work.

Thank you man, i applied the code and it was there in options I don't know what it did or what I did prior to that, but it fixed it, thanks man.

Question How to restore missing NFC toggle?

Can anyone recommend the easiest way to re enable the missing NFC toggle? I would prefer not to rely on apps and hoping some adb commands or magisk modules exists for this solution. Thanks for reading my useless post.

Don't know if the first search hit will work for the Pixel 6 and Android 12, but worth a try. Let us know what you find out, please.

Non-root? Probably a shortcut to Connected Devices (3 clicks from there), or Tasker.
With root you could use Buttom Mapper or Shortcutter.
Shortcutter is an app, but offers probably the easiest solution. I haven't heard of any magisk modules for A12 NFC restore.

-> Pull-Down
-> System Setting Tiles
-> NFC

I did try shortcutter and the toggle function isnt stable for our devices. It doesn't work at times but it seems it hasn't gotten updates for a little bit now. What tasker settings do you recommend? Excuse my ignorance of the functionality..

I use shortcutter for the NFC purpose, and it works without problem (at least for me).
If you click on the toggle, it will turn NFC on/off. It takes a couple seconds however, to update the "tile", meaning once you press on the tile, you need to wait a bit until the tile is properly updated (ON=OFF, OFF=ON), even though NFC is already long changed. Do not click twice on the tile, that would "reverse" your change, making you think it didn't work.

I can also recommend Shortcutter. Works great for me and is really a fantastic app if you like to fill your QS tile area with all sorts of goodies.

I use Action Blocks (a Google app). The command I use is "Toggle NFC". It's one click but it takes a few more seconds than a quick settings button.
