How is this different from this other longtime unofficial Lineage ROM?

We always welcome more development. I'm merely asking for information. I maintain a list of Quark ROMs (posted in this Moto Maxx/Moto Turbo forum as well as the Droid Turbo forum), and unlike Resurrection Remix, crDRoid, Viper, AOKP -- which were all different ROMs from different ROM groups -- this seems to be just like something already posted... So, if I'm going to add it to the list, I need to know how it's different please?
Also, as long as I'm asking questions, do you own one of the Quark phones (Moto Maxx, Droid Turbo, Moto Turbo)?

The other LOS ROM also supports OMS and has for a long time. Is there something different/better about this OMS support the other ROM doesn't have? I'm just asking questions.
Just seems strange (my opinion) the dev can't/won't answer a couple of simple -- but quite valid -- questions in a new ROM thread he just created?
What is different compared to the other LOS ROM?
Does he own this phone?
Does that mean he won't be responsive to users? I own this phone and am a potential user.
If he doesn't own this phone, does that mean he can't test releases? (His profile says no, but I'd like to hear explanation from him.)
I'll be glad to edit this post accordingly if he ever answers. I'm not asking hard questions. This is what others would also want to know before installing this ROM, I would think. When I add this ROM to the list I maintain and post in both Quark forums, I need information.
By the way, I've been here in the Quark forums for over three years (back when it was still ONE forum), and I still own two of these phones.

All source is up-to-date. patched oms patches on "Stock Unofficial Lineage for quark".
Of course. Droid Turbo is my daily driver. I just replace the battery to get it power up!

Thank you for your answer. Your XDA profile says you own a Sony Xperia Z and Google Nexus 5, which is why I asked if you actually owned this phone? We've had problems in the past with "devs" who didn't actually own this Quark device -- which was one of my concerns. They released ROMs with bugs, listed specs copied and pasted from another device.... They also were not responsive to questions or issues with the ROM. And of course they are no longer around.
Since you had never even posted in either Quark forum (Droid Turbo forum or the Moto Maxx/Moto Turbo forum) before posting this ROM, you can see why I'm asking questions. I was just curious what's different from the other well-established LOS ROM, which also seems to have OMS support. But users can decide which they like best. Android is about choice, after all.
We always welcome more development for Moto Quark. It was the best device in 2014 and held its ground well into 2015 and 2016. It was the "unofficial" 5.2" version of the Moto Nexus 6, but with a bigger battery than the larger Nexus 6. (Motorola released this phone at the same time Lenovo was buying Motorola from Lenovo, and regrettably Motorola/Lenovo dropped the ball on marketing/releasing this fantastic phone world-wide.) I bought three of them, and still own two. I wrote the bootloader and root unlock guide for the Moto Maxx/Moto Turbo variants, but I'm also very active in the Droid Turbo forum. It used to be ONE forum, but was split just two months before Droid Turbo got bootloader unlock via Sunshine -- which now causes users to have to jump back and forth between two forums.

Until I hear otherwise, the other LOS ROM also supports OMS. @calsurferpunk has applied the same patches @bhb27 has, as far as I know...
If I'm misunderstanding this, I'll be happy to discuss further -- maybe in the ROM list thread? I don't want to detract from this ROM in any way.
I was just wanting to know a clear difference between the two, if any.
I posted this ROM as well as the new Mokee in the forum ROM list.

As far as I know I am using the same sources, so it should have OMS support also. I don't understand the point of creating this ROM @P013onEr, @Hlcpereira, and @ChazzMatt if it's identical to mine.

It's because OMS is already on AOSP since Sony had start using RRO. But to give all themes working properly it's needed another patches, direct from .projekt/substratum repos. The only one thing that @bhb27 had do it is include substratum app on vendor source.

That was my point, but I'm trying to be nice about it. I don't want to discourage anyone from developing a ROM for QUARK.
Whereas @bhb27 chose to step away from Mokee after Marshmallow (he still has RR and crDroid ROMs), so the @P013onEr Nougat Mokee ROM is fair game. With that one, he's not duplicating anything already posted in the Quark forums.
Now if someone did an "audio enhanced" unofficial LOS ROM with Viper preinstalled or something, then that would be a clear difference.
I've asked several times what the difference is, and I keep hearing "my car can go 60mph". Yeah, so do other cars in this forum.

I just noticed that it's actually a different branch (LineageOMS), so nevermind. I'd rather keep using the official LineageOS repos, but I guess others are of course always welcome to use something else. My concern would be that patches/fixes would have to be merged into that unoficial REPO, so it might not be quite as current as the official at any given time. The entire reason I went with official was to prevent more bugs from showing up since other additions can cause unsupported errors, but at the same time the irony is that the official has a "bug" of it's own then .

But you do incorporate other stuff than just "official". You apply a lot of what @bhb27 has in RR. It's not just plain jane LOS.
I know RR has OMS because I've used substratum theme with it.

Yes, ultimately that is true. It was just about as "vanilla" of LOS as I could manage.

@calsurferpunk
Well, like I said I don't want to detract from this ROM in any way. I just wanted detailed information about the difference between this ROM and your "unofficial" LOS ROM. In your thread last summer you said you had seen LOS patches so you were fairly sure there was OMS support in your ROM -- so I was confused why this one was claiming that feature like it's something new...
Anyway, users can decide what they want to use. Android is about choice.
We've probably taken too much space in this ROM thread, unless you have more information. Maybe take it to the ROM list thread?

It has because RR team get the patches that I'd say and applied same as AEX and ViperOS teams. It isn't @bhb27 work that give full substratum support for RR or CrDroid.

Just a conclusive statement.
The other Lineage ROM in the forum doesn't have OMS patches hence Substratum is only supported if the device is rooted and works in legacy mode. Many themes do not support Substratum's legacy mode and require the ROM to have the OMS patches baked in.
This ROM has this difference only. It has the OMS patches so that you can run Substratum in rootless mode and enjoy it's full functionality without causing subtle performance issues.
ROMs other than Lineage like RROS, crDroid already have the OMS patches merged into their master branches.

I am not a developer , call me ZIPer . LOL
I wanna that feature but this rom not support.
DON'T ASK FOR ETAs then compile it by yourself and share it.
peace

Can someone build this ROM with February security patch based in calsurferpunk unofficial LineageOS branch with only the OMS patches added.
Or the instructions to build it with the calsurferpunk unofficial LineageOS branch with only the OMS patches added.

[ROM][D800][CyanogenMod 12.1][CAF][UNOFFICIAL][5.1]

I managed to compile cm12.1 for the D800 using vendor and device files from TheMuppets, and Kernel from Lg-devs.
I dirty flashed over cm12, still discovering issues. You MUST flash a cm12.1 gapps if you had gapps before or you will boot loop. Also highly recommend uninstall/re-install other google apps (like "keep").
Works:
Booting up
Wifi
LTE Data(using T-mobile APN)
Voice
Rotation (be sure you have the latest baseband)
I have the OEM case with the window on it for the watch thing:
The watch thing doesn't appear because that is not implemented(yet) in CM but it does sleep and wake with the magnet thing.
Knock to Wake
Double tap status bar to sleep
Stuff not tested:
LTE or voice on AT&T APN (I use T-mobile on this device) Please provide feedback
pretty much everything else
Not Working:
Does not grant me 3 wishes even if one of those wishes is for an iPhone

However, there are at least 5-6 roms which are using these sources, so... [emoji14]
Because, as far as I'm concerned - RR, Bliss, 2x Euphoria, AICP and some builds by zg85 (for d802) - all of them are more or less based on lg-devs sources.

From how I understand it, those use official CM sources as Rashed has not pushed CAF into CM yet. Yes they work on the CAF bootstacks but are not fully based on the rest of Rashed CM work. It's confusing to me tbh, I was simply referencing the previous closure not stating rules or anything. No source has been posted for these builds in OP so I can't be sure.

Right, and drgravy is a member of lg devs, so he is allowed to use his own work.
Other ROMs have seaked permission from rashed and the lg devs.
The problem is people go all lolololololololopensource and don't have enough respect to ask the guys working on it, and giving proper credits.
I reached out to @Rashed97 to see what I can do to help move things along, my main goal was to try to get official nightlies kicked off for the D800, and using the sources mentioned in the OP it has been stable for me for about a day so far. It looks like his main concern with the linked post was it may be dangerous to flash with the wrong bootstacks and he doesn't want peeps to claim his work as their own. Perfectly understandable. So I won't upload builds until rashed is cool with it, but if you want to try this yourself you can compile using the sources mentioned above with minimal configuration changes. I got my d800 on the cheap from e-bay so I'm not too worried about bricking it, but if you are worried about yours maybe you should just wait .

A word about the OREO updates: Still the oreo is in its infancies. As far as we are concerned we dependent on linageos for the trees. So before giving you any new build. As Vanir always stands for
Best experience, we will make sure that the linageos is well settled. Only after that, the real magic will start. Giving and talking about Oreo builds will not yield anything.

well Vanir is based on cm13 . Some people are saying CM is laggy these days due to live display. Don;t remember what was the issue. But this ROM has lot of under the hood enhancements with love from aosp. So you can try both and report back. Vanir is buttery smooth.

Oh well maybe that's true, regardless of that though you were one to bring it here yeah? Or was that some other dev/Porter?
I thank everyone for any amount of time at all they put into any kind of furthering, of the current condition of any situation. Progress usually only happens in small steps and if only big ones are ever made, and no one is around to do what some people call small steps, or less important stpes, or things less deserving of a thank you than the large steps, then progress never happens.

We are dedicated to fast, stable, and feature-filled roms, honesty and communication with our users, and openness with our code. We like frequent builds, with the very latest and greatest hardware support and fixes. We strive to not only provide you with the best rom we can build, but also to give back to the Android community and our fellow developers. For us, this is about creating something we can be proud of and hope you will enjoy.
Please feel free to look, build, and use our code at CarbonROM's GitHub...

While we make every effort to test these builds as much as possible, we are not responsible for anything that may happen to your device, family, pets, or perception of reality. We ask that you do your part to know your device and know how to recover from problems before you flash! These builds are experimental and can contain Bugs (as listed above). Make sure to do backups.
Support:
We spend an astonishing amount of time developing this software. We can't spend much time on XDA as a result, so if you need support, please try the following:
1) Search. Search, search, search. Yes, you. I don't care how unique or important your question is, it's very likely someone has adressed it already. Especially if you're even close to new at this.
2) Read our FAQ, which can be found on our website. Carbon FAQ
3) Ask a question in your device forum. Someone will no doubt try to help you. Warning: this help may come in the form of telling you it's a dumb question that has been asked before. See step 1 - such are the perils of asking questions when you haven't done the research yourself. Android is about helping yourself.
4) Join our Discord server or Telegram group! There, you can connect with other Carbon users and our developers, and you can get quicker responses to your bug reports. The invite link is right below.

Downloading,I will feedback
Sorry for my bad english
But I found some problems:
1. NFC is not working, I cant open NFC
2.Fingerprint sensor is insensitive,
when I try to create my fingerprint, the system says "It has stains on sensor." but I have cleaned already
Sorry it seems that is my problem , please ignore it.
3.Style Cover Stand SCSG10 is working inappropriate (same problem on early oreo builds)
when i covered up, xzp couldn't sleep
4.Mobile data cant work
others seems work perfectly
My firmware is 47.2.A.10.107
---
Edit:
I changed firmware to 47.1.A.16.20, NFC can work now
SCSG10 still works inappropriately, and Mobile data doesn't work. (only calls / sms)
But now the system says "your vendor doesn't match to your system".
1,NFC is dead
2,G8142 card 2 can't be recognized
3,Network not available
(basic on .107)
other things working Great!!!
how about make Camera Switch available?
I'm coming from a fully clean install of 47.2.A.10.107.
NFC is working fine, however I can confirm the mobile data issue, which is very weird as this was working flawless before. I'm looking into it.
As for DualSIM support: I released a build in the 6.1 thread a few days ago, which no DualSIM user provided any feedback to, so I went ahead and released these builds with the Single SIM device in mind. Unless I find a way to unify the devices (like I did in Oreo, which apparently doesn't work anymore because thats what this build uses) I'm not going to support the DualSIM variants.
If anyone is willing to help me debugging this issue on the DualSIM variants by flashing testbuilds and getting logs etc, hit me up.
Edit: found the cause for the mobile data, must've removed that by accident during a cleanup. A working build will be released later today
EDIT2: Build is running right now and will appear on the download page once done.
Can anyone confirm camera2api and gcam hdr+ support?
Thanks for fixing Mobile data and now it works.
NFC is also working, but need reboot after gapps setup wizard or first boot, I dont know if this is a problem.
(Just clean flash 47.2.A.10.107, I dont know why i cant open nfc in my first try. I clean flashed before...)

No, this rom blobs are based stock, so no level3 support.
Just flashed the rom and its smooth and awesome. So far everything working except dt2w.
For some reason with Magisk 19.3, ctsProfile is returning false. It didnt fail in any of the other SODPs or the latest stock rom. Anyone facing same issue?

It seems Carbon's kernel tree is almost identical to cryptomilk's.
I recall I can't turn on NFC when using cryptomilk's kernel tree to build my own ROMs, either. However, NFC works fine with Sjll's kernel tree, despite being a few days older.
Not sure about the exact cause of this, but it's possible that something in 47.2.A.10.107 might be needed. My phone is currently still based on 47.2.A.10.80 as the .107 build for my region is not out. If the older stock base is indeed the cause of the issue, I'll consider flashing a current stock ROM of different region.

Does SD card functionality still work on G8142? I haven't tested the new CarbonROM build, but personally I had positive results with SD card on other ROMs/kernels that were targeting G8141.

Given it works on both my phones that were on .107 before and that the blobs are from .107, this could be the cause. If you flash the latest stock ROM make sure to fully boot into it at least once because the stock ROM sometimes also upgrades the NFC Firmware on the chip itself.
P.S. The kernel is the same as cryptomilks.

Oh cmon man you literally quoted a message of me saying that I don't have the Dual SIM variant nor any testers for it (yet). I have quite a few ideas on how I could fix it, but without any testers I'm just not gonna touch it at all.
I have G8142 and I can say, "Yes, SD card still works on G8142."
But I dont have 2nd sim card so i cant test if dualsim works
.107 clean installation, there were also problems with NFC, after rebooting it was fixed.
The Smart Cover function does not work, the screen continues to light after closing the cover, or the action of the magnetic cover (by the Hall sensor), I do not know how it should, but it does not work ..
So far stable enough to be daily driver except issues with magisk. Magisk keeps getting uninstalled on its own and have to be reinstalled in twrp every now and then. And after it gets installed, the rom stutters and doesn't open any apps or the settings and have to be restarted a few times for it to go back to normal.
Also a feature to modify charging led settings would be awesome. (I tried to find and modify it in root but couldn't find the charging led settings in /sys/class/leds)
Camera is frickin awesome. It's sooo much better than stock even without lvl3 camera2api. For anyone trying to find a decent camera app, try using opencamera with camera2api enabled in settings. Except for hdr(doesn't work, will force close), it's able to take really good images. If only somehow able to shoot 960fps slomo .
Magisk 19.3 - there were no problems with self-removal, there is a delay when starting up applications with a white screen after a reboot, it holds the battery well 2% per night.
I spent some time working with @haiha2001 on the XZ1 Dual today. Along the road we came across a few things but it's not working yet. HOWEVER, the XZ1 seems to have a different/more advanced issue than the XZ Premium. Whereas the XZ Premium has SIM1 working, the XZ1 doesn't have any SIM working at all.
That brings me to the following:
There was a fairly obvious flaw (thank Sony for that for not having unity of system property locations across Single/Dual SIM) which could explain why only one SIM is working on the XZ Premium. I've fixed it in the linked boot.img. If someone with two SIM Cards and the Dual SIM variant could try and let me know how it's doing on maple_dsds I'd be very happy.
https://dl.myself5.de/maple/.fwafwafwafo/boot.img
flash it via fastboot with
Code:
fastboot flash boot boot.img
on top of the latest weekly.
Just flashed your boot.IMG

Because I see the XZ1 seems to be less supported by programmers for this device while the XZ Premium has quite a lot, while I know that the XZ Premium is not too different from the off-screen XZ1, so I'm willing to support the programmers to check the rom or mod version for XZ1, if they have an idea I will help my best ?

Did she voluntarily gave it to you yet or do we need to send armed troops to make her ? First screenshot looks promising already.
also, in case you're rooted, please get me the output of the following:
Code:
adb shell
then enter
Code:
su
(Accept Magisk request on the phone)
and then run
Code:
cat /cache/modem/modem_switcher_status
cat /cache/modem/modem_switcher_report
And send me the output.
Alternatively you can run it via terminal emulator starting at the "su" part.

I didn't know that you plan to build and offer LOS 16(!) as well... maybe you describe the difference to my builds so I and everyone else understand why you are doing this?

No I'm not building 16.
I just made the thread for lineage 17 because that's the only one I'm going to build for this specific device.
I could also share nothing and build for myself.
Is there some problem ? Your post looks like you are attacking me for some reason. Is it about glory ?
Very kind of you.
We r alone here in a legacy device full of problems and we keep this device alive when most of developers quit on it, and even LG quit on it and the first thing I see below lineage 17 op is you attacking me. But I won't delete it. I will keep this post there to remind me of this day.
And to think that I also actually linked to your thread out of respect of it...
Awesome man can't wait to try this out! Kessaras Just curious is the LOS 16 your build of it or just SFX one? Just wondering cause i want to try it out.

calm down I was just curious and that's why I'm asking why LOS 16. There was no offense in my request sorry if I made you felt like that. I have changed my post a bit in the hope it's better understandable now.
Glory? Lmao.. I always refer to the suicide team in my changelogs as our ROMs like aoscp and LOS is done by teamwork not by a single person. Exactly that was the reason why I said you should explain why you build an own version of LOS 16(!) so ppl understand the differences and there are some. That's all.

Ok.
First of all,
i'm not the type of guy who will maintain something old.
When N was released that was when i started developing for first time and i made custom roms here have same camera quality with stock, because i wanted it for myself. I wanted to take good photos, not some bad pixels with noise.
When O was released i abandoned my sleep and i spent 3 weeks x24 hours to make this uncompatible kernel work perfectly to bring up O. And i did. I imported the code from bullhead line by line so that i won't break anything.
When P was released i did it in 1 day (i had more experience + all this hard work in O was not for nothing). I didn't release it because i let it go to bring up AOSCP for p20 pro. Few months later I came back and we made this thing stable together.
Now i did Q in just few hours. I didn't release it because i want to do a "clean" work. I forced it to build by hacking the "build" repo. So i can't push those commits, so i wait a bit.
But what history showed ? Upon every new Android release i never maintained the old one and i never built all variants. I do not have a server and i need my PC to also entertain myself, i can't have it building for hours.
So , even if i did one Lineage 16 build what does it really matter ? And even if i bring up Q in a few days what does it really matter ? It's your server who will be building and will be doing the most work.
One Lineage 16 build means nothing. I will never build Pie again just like i never built Oreo again.
Differences:
1. https://github.com/Suicide-Squirrel...mmit/c6fc9746ec75bc76e8b0247b007ef1ad89af0ac3
2. https://github.com/CypherOS/hardware_qcom_power/commits/poundcake-release
3. kernel. Instead of fixing some useless functions , i chose to remove them, in order to have less jobs for CPU to do.
4. Policies. I have added more policies when on the other hand you added less policies and have some functions blocked.
Nothing else. 3 and 4 are just details.
And it's just personal. I simply shared one build, the one im using at my phone.
XDA is about sharing. It's not our job. I'm simply sharing the rom i flash to my device.
In my point of view , i do not have to answer to questions like whats different. They do not even pay me. I'm not selling anything. I do this for fun.
I'm not doing Pie. The link is there until i release Q and it will stay there for historical reason.
To remind me that this was the last Pie and what i see in that rom is the fruit of a hard work of one whole year.
CU in Q.

yup. they have those differences that make my rom unique so it's like another rom. You can't dirty flash from one to the other.
Does Los 16 have the play store issue? Will Q have it also? Since your banned from Google.

It doesn't matter what rom I build , I have apps missing.
I'm lost I don't know where the ban exactly is.
When I build from @steadfasterX server there is no ban.
For example if sfx syncs to aoscp and build it , there is no ban.
So don't worry. Me I will bring up Q. After that only when I build it it will have apps missing.
So strange.... I will maybe try change my email and signature in the future to test what will happen.

Normally I shouldn't care for third party apps.
If you get me a log while it crashes I will take a look at it.
And Google apps don't crash. I use them too. I'm Google addicted. Google even knows when I'm in the toilet
Start logd before you get a log, as a root.
adb shell start logd
"There are times that you guys are making angry."
Is it even possible , since i still use this phone and i'm using the rom i build, to have stuff or core apps or default apps or google apps crashing and i haven't done anything about it ?
(3rd party apps is another story).
It's like you don't trust me and i'm here since 2013......
Always logs ! No chatting.
Say i have this problem here is the log.
I will see what you did wrong or what i did wrong , the next day it's fixed.
Yeah I see ....
Just to lose my time for nothing , right ?
?
Isn't this Nova Launcher ? It's not crashing.
Yeah I'm using Los 16 and everything is running smooth with stock open gaps and migrate of apps. Nothing's crashing. H811. Good battery life also. Thanks for looking into the Google ban issue. Much appreciated.

Hey @kessaras
Thank you for making this build for this legacy device that I still use as my daily driver.
Is the camera on your oreo rom the same as stock?
That is the biggest gripe I have with using LOS at the moment
Do you plan on doing monthly builds for H815 to incorporate the latest security patches?

Hey! This thread is only for Los 16 and 17 which means Android 9 and 10! You can try the builds yourself, I think this is the best way to decide. Until now, yes, these guys have been providing almost monthly builds, including the monthly security patches.

I was just thinking how much I'd love to see this for the 3a.
Couple of things though;
1) Where's the device tree source and vendor blobs?
2) Its unfortunate that you baked in the google crap, one of the great things about custom builds is to get rid of that.

2. I do have microg build for sargo as it is my main device, but not for bonito, so I did not post here on xda, if you want it join the support link group in the thread. Regarding google crap, for some users flashing gapps externally had less fluid experience so I did it.
I hope soon will be very soon, since I'm only interested in building myself anyway.
Have you spoken to @kdrag0n about adding in your source and making this "official"?

Note:- I have few extra proprietary stuff added in vendor for Google Fi and stuff to work for users out the box which lineage does not have added in their vendor, so if you really want less vendor blob use lineage vendor. It will work without any issue, I think kdrag0n also uses them.
Regarding official builds, I don't have the same infrastructure as him(reason why I only posted gapps build here, it takes lot of time to maintain both gapps and non gapps build) nor the time to maintain it officially. as said in thread, this is my side project which I thought to share it with community. If things work well in future and I feel like doing it official, I may ask kdrag0n. Also idk if he is accepting new device as he is maintaining all the official devices alone by himself.

If things work well in future and I feel like doing it official, I may ask kdrag0n. Also idk if he is accepting new device as he is maintaining all the official devices alone by himself.

Thank you very much. I'll give that a go
Hi, just checking if there is any development planned for this one? Looks to be interesting ROM for daily use.

Here's a current source.
I don't know if it's trusted, or who the maintainer of this unofficial build is though. Just found it via telegram.

Nice one. It's really handy to be able to revive old, unsupported devices like the Pixel 3a, which is a perfectly usable phone and can be picked up for next to nothing.
Some of us don't care about de-googling our phones and really just want to extend their lifespan with security updates, so having gapps baked in to ProtonOASP is really nice. Especially when we're just trying to help out our non-technical friends get a bit more life out of their old phones. A consistent, familiar user experience is all they really want.
I was wondering though: Does your build (or any build of ProtonOASP) come with verified-boot signatures so that the device's bootloader can be locked down after the ROM is installed, or is CalyxOS the only option for this?
Unfortunately, Calyx are very puritanical when it comes to de-googling, and microG is just a terrible substitute for interacting with Google services. I tried it on the Pixel 3a, and it doesn't even sync the contact list from your Google account. My non-technical friend was not impressed.
GrapheneOS still has builds up for 3a, however new builds were terminated as of February. While it doesn't ship with gCrap preinstalled, installation is trivial as they've built a compatibility layer to make it work correctly (and much MUCH more securely) as user-installed software, which you can install from the program "Apps".
