Don't try to do oem lock until stock firmware comes out. It's quite risky and painful to revive phone if something goes wrong and phone enters Error Mode. Dealing with this error is so much pain!! I had hard time with my phone due to the mistake of locking bootloader for OTA. Don't try it. Just be patinet.

[Q] FreeGee tool question!

Hey guys,
if i ''restore with backups'' with the freegee tool ,does that mean that cwm recovery is uninstalled or does it just lock the bootloader?
If i do that is any way to see that the phone has custom recovery and not the original?(its for warranty issues)
i want just to lock the bootloader and then unroot it..finally i will do a factory reset.
The reason im asking is that im a bit of noobie and the whole ''kdz revert to stock'' process i a bit scary to me
Thanks in advance!

I'm also skeptical of this...last time I was on an AOSP ROM and used Restore with backups and got a security error. I'm sure that's just because I was on a custom ROM. Since I'm now on a completely stock ROM (not even custom) and I used the restore with backups, that'll relock my boot loader...right?
If you are rooted, but not unlocked, you will get security error. I said it many times, rooting without unlocking is pretty useless. Restoring efs partitions will lock your bootloader, but you will remain rooted. Best way is to use kdz updater to revert to stock.

If lock the bootloader, you must unroot too. The easiest and safest way is to use kdz updater. This way you won't get security errors.

[Q] Bootloop

I tried to flash the bootloader and JSS15R, de-odexed, but it can't get past the bootloop... Any thoughts? No tablet UI mod thing.
Tried to flash this, but it's still won't boot...
Any suggestions?
Honestly I'd use fastboot and wipe the entire device and then flash the factory images. That way everything is updated, you'll then need to fastboot flash a custom recovery.

Just Google "how to restore N7 factory image" and you'll have all the information you need. You'll need either the wifi-only or LTE factory images from Google, so d/l that first.

Do you know when the OTA for JLS36R started rolling out? If it was recently, like last 7-10 days, Google probably hasn't released the factory images yet, but should soon (assuming everything is OK with 36R).

You will get the prompt for it, but if anything in /system is modified (like if you're rooted, flashed custom kernel) it won't work...custom recovery won't work either. You can flash the stock recovery in the zip that holds the 36C files using fastboot (fastboot flash recovery recovery.img).
On my wifi I had a custom kernel, and when to use the "adb sideload" command to flash the official zip, and it failed due to the boot.img being modified (not stock), plus I had deleted some files from /system/app which it didn't like.

[help] Hi im a noob trying to root my phone for the first time

The model of my phone is SM-N910V
android version 6.0.1
So I been reading a lot of the thread on the forum and saw that there were many ways to root the 5.1.1 version. Unfortunately I updated my phone to MM 6.0.1.
What is the process to root my phone?
Can I somehow load the 5.1.1 version? then unlock the bootlocker and root my phone?
any advise will be appreciated, thanks

Sigh.
Downgrade to 5.1.1 BPA using the full firmware using ODIN, then unlock your bootloader using any one of about six threads on this page.
There's only one way to unlock the bootloader and root. It's just been explained in a gadzillion different ways.

Galaxy Note 4 Recovery Mode
Power Down Your Galaxy Note 4.
Press and Hold the Power Button, Home Button and Volume Up Button at the Same Time.
Continue Holding These Buttons Until You See Some Blue Text at the Top.
When You See the “Recovery Booting….” ...
Wait Until it Boots into the Recovery Mode.
Use volume to scroll power to select. I clear cache first probably redundant, then restore

Hardest part is keeping temp root long enough to type/paste the ADB commands needed to change CID and then to unlock Bootloader.

Can you get into download mode (volume down, power, home key three finger salute)? Flash this firmware (thanks @hsbadr!) using ODIN, make sure that auto reboot is unchecked, and when it's done three finger salute into recovery and do a factory reset before you boot.
Then start the process from scratch.

Downgrade to Oreo 8.1 from P Developer Preview

I just upgraded to Android P and there is an issue with Snapseed not able to save / export images, the whole experiences in Android P is slower compared to 8.1 so I am thinking to downgrade.
Is there any methods to downgrade to latest Oreo 8.1 from Android P Developer Preview? Can I just flash the full factory image - OPM1.171019.021, Mar 2018?
Thank you.

That it will! However, I don't think there's much choice in the matter. From all the posts I've read, a full wipe to downgrade is necessary.
Thanks all. I've uninstalled and installed the Snapseed, it's working fine now. I will stay with it for a while. Thank you.
I tried P and downgraded with a full flash of Oreo flash all in fastboot leaving in the - w .. I had a backup of Oreo rooted on my PC before I moved to P.. Quick and easy...

Correct.
However, I doubt you will be able to roll-back to Oreo at all.
The Oreo OTA files will still have an older timestamp than the Android P verision(s), (as well as older radios, etc.) therefore wont be allowed to install.

Thanks all for the response.
I'm on Singapore local version, locked boot loader. I sideloaded the OTA. I found that I have to uninstall and re-install some of the apps to resolve the force closed issue.
I think the issue is caused by dirty flash like one of you mentioned above. I will do a factory reset and reinstall all my apps, see if it helps.
Thank you.

After this ww rom will be installed? What about upgrade?
I mean can i do future update once in convert to ww rom ?
A Video would be nice (not doubting that this simple guide doesn't work) but to proof that indeed this method works) someone please be kind to post a video.
also, does flashing this WW ROM deletes all personal data? or does it flash like an update retaining data?
wow!!
is it works??
and is it without root??
Will OTA updates work on this? Also, could you rewrite the guide some parts are a bit confusing
It works. No OTA from now on though, without a patched boot.img the phone will always go into a bootloop. Some people have reported dead camera after WWE conversion.

Is there more infomation about this? forum link or screenshot?
Thanks.

In my tele, 2 member rp dead camera, they reflash rom CN then reflash WW, evething ok expect setting theme not working
Can someone state the major differences between the two roms?. I don't see the point of losing OTA and warranty unless you need the stock UI, other than that i don't see any advantages. By the way can someone confirm the call recording option is still there with the WW Rom.

Yes Please, I Would also like to know the major differences..
Just to evaluate whether losing OTA is worth going to WW Rom.
Hello Guys, I messed up as I did not unlock bootloader first before flashing it from fastboot. Now I have a bootloop. Can anyone help me how to reflash CN. I have a lock bootloader. Thank you very much.
Unlocking BL also voids the Widevine L1 DRM btw, proceed at your own risk.
Can anyone help me how to unlock the bootloader via fastboot since I cannot get in the software as I have a bootloop. I greatly appreciate it as I have been figuring out this for the past 5 hours. Thank you.

You cannot unlock without the app. Hold the power and volume up key when the phone boots up until you enter the bootloader menu then using the volume keys navigate to recovery option from there just do a factory reset.
Hello Rashad83, I went to recovery and did a factory reset, but it still bootloop. I have a tencent ROG phone II model.

What did you do to get the bootloop in the first place, if you don't mind me asking?
I tried fastboot flash vendor vendor.img then it says parse error due to lock state, then after that I rebooted it then it just bootloop.

just flash newer version ww firmware. Data will keep. a little bit inconvenience that no OTA. but you will always have root (use magisk manager patch the boot.img).
