Hi - I got a killer deal on an international (Asian model) HTC One M8x on eBay so I jumped on it... After receiving it, I noticed LTE is not working with T Mobile. The phone supports LTE 700 / 900 / 1800 / 2100 / 2600... Before purchasing, I didn't notice AWS/Band 4 wasn't listed. Oh well, still a great device.
I did some research and saw that T-Mo just bought Verizon's 700mhz; but 'Block A' only..? my phone supports 700mhz, but I'm not sure which block it will work with.
I live in a pretty populated area in Southern California, so I would assume that this area will be covered when T-Mo rolls out 700mhz on their network around early 2015.
Will my phone work on Block A? What is the difference between blocks? I just recently learned about the different frequencies, and now I'm hearing 'block A, B, C,' etc.. I'm officially confused.
Anyone with extended knowledge of LTE - your responses are greatly appreciated.

According to the following Wiki, the 700 MHz bands used in North America are also called Bands 12, 13, and 17. These seem to correspond with the blocks you mentioned (A, B, C) with "700 a" (presumably Block A) corresponding to Band 12.

Of the countries and carriers in Europe, Middle East, and Asia (the "international" M8 is actually called the EMEA version) only Taiwan seems to use 700 MHz, and its Band 28. So presumably, this is the band that is supported by your version.
Not sure, but you might be out of luck (your phone supports Band 28, but T-Mobile bought Band 12?).
It is confusing, I agree. My main takeaway is that there sure a lot of different bands that make up 700 MHz!

Thanks for the info and the link!! After reading the wiki page I did some more Googling.. It seems as though the 700mhz is available through bands 12, 13, 14, 44, 17 and 28. It's crazy that my phone only supports one of them. Too bad I won't have LTE....HSPA+ is horribly slow where I live. (unless it's about 3am, then I get a few MB up and down)
I noticed you have AT&T...are you aware if this phone will pick up LTE on an AT&T gophone? I will consider their $60/month prepaid if it will.
Or maybe another GSM carrier that my phone is compatible with? I would really hate to leave T-Mo but I miss LTE.

T-mobile's AWS platform is mostly going to be a 1900 and 1700 setup if i remember correctly. they have purchased the 700mhz spectrum from verizon but no one is really using it yet. Only Verizon has even started to populate that spectrum with their new X-LTE which no one can really take advantage of. and really the HSDPA isnt that bad. i mean i have a tmobile M8 and i get LTE like 70% of the time but the rest of the time i'm on HSPAP and its fine i get like anywhere between 5-10mbps...

Its not really that crazy. When they say "700 Mhz" I think what they really mean is that the actually frequencies used are somewhere around 700-799 MHz. And this can be divided up to many different distinct "bands". If you refer to the Wiki page I linked, you will see in the notes under the North America section, for example:
700 Block B
(↓) 734 – 740 MHz / (↑) 704 – 710 MHz
So the MHz number can be misleading; and its really the Band (12, 13, etc.) that you need to pay attention to. Or both the Band/block and MHz in conjunction really, as its often the MHz that is listed.

Don't think it work on AT&T's LTE network. AT&T uses Bands 4 and 17 for LTE. None of these are supported on the EMEA version based on what we've discussed.
Buying phones from 3rd party sources can be very tricky. US carriers in particular use very particular and often proprietary bands. This was true with 3G, and seems to be even more so with LTE. The bands used by even foreign markets has become increasingly less standardized with LTE (there was a good amount of standardization in foreign regions with 2G and 3G). One has to be very careful and resource thoroughly before buying a phone from any source aside from your carrier.

hello , iam going to the USA with the same model m8x to t-mobile in Washington dc ,so basically iam in the same position as you , did u find any new solution to the LTE problem ? if not ,does only hspa+ working ? if so i have seen some good speeds with t-mobile hspa+ ( 15mb dowload ) . does flashing these (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2736921) helps ? please respond

Thinking about picking up the G4. I do some occasional travel to Europe for work, about once a quarter. As such, I am looking at the G4 variant that will work on both sides of the Atlantic. It looks like I can pick up the International H815 that should do just fine. But being here in the States, I'd probably have to special order one.
I took a look at the specs for the AT&T H810 variant, and it says that it has the LTE bands 1, 3, 7 for Roaming. Incidentally, the band I need for my carrier in Europe is band 3.
So my question is does included hardware support band 3? Would I be able to use my Europe SIM in the phone and connect to band 3? Or does the roaming imply I can only access band 3 with my USA SIM when I am roaming in Europe?
Any insight would be helpful! Thanks!

I just ordered a brown leather 815 on eBay for 700. By the time you figure taxes and getting leather option and not having to deal with ATT sounded like a decent deal. I hope I can get the free goodies from Lg. Plus it should be here by the June 1st or so.

Provided AT&T allows you with Unlock code to use Europe SIM. I doubt.

Quick question from a newbie. I am currently in the uk and would love to preorder the 10 but I can only get the UK version but I would like the US version. Are there any significant drawbacks? Would most likely use it on TMobile once I relocate to the US. I have seen earlier posts on frequencies and bands but I was hoping on a plain English response? Mostly interested in LTE of course. Gotta find out if the UK version of the phone supports US network bands/frequencies to see if it'll work properly with the network you're interested in. Software wise should be the same. The HTC UK site lists #WL SKU(America) under supported networks but it also says, "Network bands in regions may be different, depending on the mobile operator and your location."
I'm sure someone in here knows whether you only get support for one region based on where you order from or if you get support for all regions listed on the spec page. Unclear to me. US page only lists US bands though.
I dont think the EU/ASIA models have the US LTE bands.

Yes the main difference is the LTE bands. The US version has different bands to the UK version. Generally the UK uses band 8 for LTE, which the US version does not have. You would still be able to use the phone for texts, calls and even 3G access, but, you would not get LTE. Let us know, what service provider you are with, we can then see if the phone is comparable or not for you.

I don't have the phone yet obviously. I am on three UK now but once we relocate to the US I will most likely be signing up to TMobile. I thought some of the frequencies are the same? Different bands but frequency seems the same in the UK and US?
But to be honest after looking into it might be best to pick it up in the us for the warranty and the Uh Oh insurance.

From what I can see, Three supports band 3 for LTE. Looking at the US speck phone it says the following: 4G LTE (up to 450Mbps), FDD: Bands 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 7, 12, 13, 17, 20, 28, 29, 30, Support Cat 9 LTE, download up to 450 Mbps, upload up to 50 Mbps, so in theory it should work for you both here and in the US. I would double check with Three that their network is definitely band 3.

At the same time of posting here I had also emailed HTC support and they came back to me with a brief statement that it will work as the phone supports 'multiple frequencies'. This was not a highly technical reply but at least now I have it writing!
Your answer certainly puts my mind at ease and I have gone ahead and preordered!
Strangely I had no option to choose 32 or 64GB storage though and they took payment immediately rather than wait till shipping time. Does this mean it's on the way already?

I've been wondering about this, too, and I think the UK HTC 10 is not fully compatible with AT&T or T-Mobile networks in the US. From Droid-Life, the bands needed are:
AT&T LTE bands 2, 4, 12, 17
T-Mobile LTE bands 2, 4, 12
From Clove, the bands supported are:
FDD B1, 3, 5, 7, 8, 12, 20, 28, 32; TDD B38, 40, 41
As you can see, the UK version is missing bands 2 and 4, which are used by both US GSM carriers, and also 17, which is used by AT&T.
I've been looking at this because the UK HTC 10 is about the same price as the US one, but it comes with HD earbuds. Unfortunately, it looks like it's incompatible.

I also found HTC's international HTC 10 page, and it spells it out pretty clearly in the Network specs that the EMEA version of the HTC 10 is missing many bands from the American version If anyone has information to the contrary that would be great...
I have the International HTC 10 (m10H) and its working on AT&T LTE band 17. I haven't seen it connected to band 2 or 4 yet.
I'm using a UK version on Tmobile and it works fine the network.
My signal stays on 4g and I've only dropped to HSPA once, which is fine with me. Aside from that, text, calls, etc all work without issue.
If you're after the headphones, they're pretty nice though they're a bit bass heavy for my taste. They sound good though and the noise isolation is surprisingly good.

probably you can use con T-mo, but you can not use in AT/T. The asian version doesn´t work in any 4G in the US

I'm able to connect to T-mobile and make calls etc, but it won't connect to LTE even though I've been using LTE for years in my area with no issue on old phone.
T-Mobile support was not able to help me.
The highest it connects is 4g
I really do not want to return this phone to the seller, but I don't want to settle for a phone that can't connect to LTE like my old one.
Willing to try anything...any ideas?

Do you have this phone and live in a LTE area? My old phone actually said "LTE" for the signal when it connected with LTE, are you saying this model phone does not actually say "LTE" on the signal bar?
Can anyone confirm that this phone says "LTE" at the top with an LTE signal?

4G *IS* LTE.
You need to google what LTE is.
occasionally you will see 4G+ (downloading).

I just googled it and I've read 3 sites so far that says they are not the same.....

I'm not trying to start an argument. I'm just used to my phone displaying LTE and if you are saying this model does NOT display LTE, and displays a "4G" instead, then that answers my question. Some sites even say HSPA+ is 4g, and I know that is different than LTE.
On tmobile he is correct 4g is hspa+.. My g7 says 4g lte when on lte.. Did you do a network reset? Or call tmobile and ask then to redo your phone activation to make sure you register on there network right.. Maybe need a newer sim?

It's possible that the APN settings may need to be tweaked. I'd start there.

I've called T-Mobile, had them do a restart, had them check APN, etc.
I'm using the same sim as my old phone that gets LTE just fine, so it's not that.
I'm thinking something about this international version maybe doesn't support one of the bands or frequencies that T-Mobile uses in Chicago (even though it says it supports GSM worldwide)
I'm probably going to send it back as my 3 year old Motorola phone gets a higher tested download speed on a speed test than this new one without LTE. Just wanted to check if anyone else had the issue. Thanks

There are six variants of the G7, G710EAW is aimed at Asia/Oceania and together with the G710EMW (64GB/8GB single-sim version of your variant) the only one that doesn't support at least two of the TMob LTE bands.

This is what I was afraid of. But I specifically purchased this model because it had the 128gb, the extra 2gb RAM, and dual-sim....I'll have to research if this is available in one of the models you mentioned but so far I've only seen the 64gb with single sim so I guess I'll have to find a new model. Thanks for the info.

Who told you this?
I have the G710EAW and it most CERTAINLY supports bands 2 and 4.
It's even labeled DIRECTLY on the box itself.
Don't get your information from the LG website. The site only shows which bands are used IN THAT REGION, not what is supported by hardware.

Don't believe everything you hear on the internet. Bands 2 and 4 are supported.
These are the bands supported by the G710EAW.
GSM: 850/900/1800/1900
WCDMA: 850/900/1700/1800/1900/2100
TD-SCDMA: 1900/2000
LTE: B1/B2/B3/B4/B5/B7/B8/B12/B13/B17/B20/B28/B38/B39/B40/B41
If a band is NOT supported, trying to select it will show "FAIL" in the engineering menu.
Example: band 25 is shown, but not supported. This will show FAIL.
It was the international LG G6 which had problems with T-mobile, as Band 2 was not supported (shown in service menu, if you select it it shows 'FAIL'.)
I sold one of these phones (I had 2) to a T-mobile user and he's happy.
I have also the 128 GB lg g7 eaw version. My phone shows 4g also. The speed test i have done is 60mbps both up and down and i am ok with that.
What is the diffrence between 4g and 4g lte? Should it display lte?
P. S. My operator is having lte in band 1 and 38 and are supported by the phone. Also band 2 and 4 are available and both connected with succes...

My G710EAW shows 4G+. Uaing Net10 on band 2 which uses tmobile's servers. I think each and every person here needs to stop crying wolf. Seriously.

The information is from gsmarena. They have been spot on with this kind of information the last times I checked. However, it seems like they're off with the G7. I just compared my variant with their information and it's off as well. Thanks for catching this!
So in that case I can only think of one reason why the OPs phone would not connect to TMobile 4G: the network in your area is using bands that are not supported by your G7. However, this is quite unlikely, since these would be 66/71. From what I read, they have only been introduced in 2017.
Hello Forum.
Recently I picked up Moto G 5G plus (XT2075-3) phone from Amazon. It is unlocked European model (international), build number QPNS30.37-Q3-42-51-2. According to published specifications it supports LTE-TDD B42, B43 out of the box. However, after installing SIM card it only scans 3G bands for Base Stations (BS) and finds local operators in 700/850/1900/2100/2500MHz bands and quits. It does not seem to search for BS in 'non traditional' bands, such as B42 (3500) or B43 (3600). Ideally this phone would be a great addition for a CBRS band operation, but it does not seem to search for BS there.
Question - is there means to force radio to search TDD bands?
