Oreo + Viper4Android - HTC 10 Questions & Answers

How do I properly install Viper 4 Android App on Oreo. On Nougat you had to rename "audio_effects.conf" in /vendor/etc to "audio_effects.conf.bak" and then flash Viper4Android in recovery.
On Oreo, the "Install Drivers" screen always reappears even after reboot... I tried different versions and busybox by stericson (pro and free version) nothing seems to work...

Don't rename that file dude... just copy, and paste it somewhere and in original file "/vendor/etc/audio_effects.conf" you should insert these lines:
Under libraries sections:
v4a_fx {
path /system/lib/soundfx/libv4a_fx_ics.so
}
Under effects sections:
v4a_standard_fx {
library v4a_fx
uuid 41d3c987-e6cf-11e3-a88a-11aba5d5c51b
}
Of course busybox is required, but i know that you have it, and... Selinux as far as i know must be set to permissive.

Thanks for your helping advice... I added those two lines, but i still get this message.. (selinux set to permissive), so still not working :/

Do you have this file in path /system/lib/soundfx/?
File name is libv4a_fx_ics.so
If not, then try to copy this file there and set permissions rw- r-- r--
If there will be that file, or it will not solve the problem, you should have in system/etc files named audio_effect.conf and htc_audio_effect.conf, try to add these lines from my previous post.

File is there as you can see in the screenshots, I added your lines to htc_audio_effects.conf but I still have to install drivers all over again after reboot ...

First of all, I'm using LeeDroid 5.0.0 SVN123 with Magisk v15.3...
I flashed this on Magisk Manager under Modules by adding module...
After Magisk Installed the module, I rebooted, and by using ES File Explorer, I got root permissions and mounted /system RW...
I got into /system/etc and opened HTC_audio_effect.conf file and added this under Library section
v4a_fx {
path /system/lib/soundfx/libv4a_fx_ics.so
}
Click to collapse
And then added this to Effects section...
v4a_standard_fx {
library v4a_fx
uuid 41d3c987-e6cf-11e3-a88a-11aba5d5c51b
}
Click to collapse
I saved file and then rebooted...
Maybe you can copy & paste these codes in audio_effects.conf file...

Ok, I'm not using magisk, but SuperSU by Chainfire... However I added those lines but it doesn't work

How do you set system to RW?

You can do in ES File Explorer in Root Access section, mount system RW...

Same error again, asks to install drivers, done, reboot, asks to install drivers again ... ? Leedroid V5 svn 124 Oreo

I think this is my problem. There is no soundfx folder under my /system/lib and therefore adding those lines didn't do anything on mine

Holy moly... On oreo i don't have soundfx too in that path xD BUT! i have /system/vendor/lib/soundfx maybe there?

The directory is there. But libv4a_fx_ics.so is nowhere to be found.
I used the Magisk l method with ShadySquirrel's module. It shows active. But I can't get the driver to install. It says it was successful and to reboot. But when I reboot the process starts all over again.

Another way is trying to flash it in recovery, then i get i/o error:

Then I installed this on top but again, i/o error

fix: (still asks to install drivers after each reboot)

I found it but i see that is "system" mode installation.
I will try to search how to do it with magisk.
https://www.thecust.omdroid.com/install-viper4android-on-android-oreo/
remove "." between thecust and omdroid because something block that url
http://www.theme.foxx.com/2017/10/viper4android-for-android-oreo-8-0.html here is for magisk, but i can't confirm to work because i don't like viper. It makes background noise for me and i hate it.

Tested this exact method and I did not see success. Driver cannot install.
Tried renaming both configuration files to htc_audio_effects.conf.bak and audio_effects.conf.bak. no difference in results
Still not sure what else I can try. Magisk module appears active. I don't think the lib file is flashing properly. Then again I don't know where it should go either..

Great! i would try now. do you have plan for version 2.2 as well? thanks a lot!
You are the man, thank you very much for your wonderful work
Pushed to HyperDroid CM7, tested outgoing call - working OK.
What about sources?
Thanks man!
Works great on Typhoon3.0.0 of today.
Copied it with Root Explorer.
Also anyone trying to copy using Root Explorer, remember to change "Permissions" of the file according to the original file you are replacing.

I'm using the same rom..also copied it via root explorer. Now I'm stucking on bootscreen..
Didn't changed permissions...will try again with setting the right permissions.
Please could you provide the same changes also for Froyo 2.2.x?
Because it is good to have step-by-step all the issues solved for the HD2 device.

Warning!!
It only works for Gingerbread 2.3.3 with FM support (all CM7 build or my build).
Please backup your original libaudio.so in /system/lib first to prevent the booting loop if the patch file cannot work in your image.
Here is my "libaudio.so" patch, this may fix two issue.
1. the robot voice in first call issue without Disable Audible touch tones in Sound settings
2. the first call volume is too loud
Download:
http://www.multiupload.com/AI9LQHYZZL
How to install it?
A.
Code:
adb remount
adb push libaudio.so /system/lib
adb reboot
B.Using ROOT Explorer or my Super Manager for Android Market to copy the libaudio.so into /system/lib, and reboot your HD2
Please feedback to me if you face into some strange side effects

Restored rom with cwm...copied libaudio.so with root explorer, changed permissions and voilà, it works.
Should be mentioned in the OP.
Yep, I didnt change permissions, now I'm stuck on my bootscreen
I was stuck too
reflashed the image
changed the permissiona and it worked !!!!
It should be stated in manual at first page regarding setting the permissions....

thansks
I think you should reflash the image.
Then you need program called Root Explorer, copy this update to system\lib
and after that you change permissions (you should look first on original file what permissions are...)
or just use update via AD recovery.... (look at post #13)

Viper4Android on Nexus 9

I've searched all forums for a solution to make Viper4Android work on Nexus 9.
None has been working for me without killing Chromecast support.
So I've made two solutions to make it work:
TWRP, Root and Busybox is required!
As system app:
In TWRP install V4A_2.3.3.0_[Quality].zip
Boot Android and open V4A
(Uninstall and) Install driver
Reboot Android
As normal app:
In TWRP install V4A_Conf.zip
Boot Android
Install SELinuxModeChanger and set it for "Permissive" mode
Install V4A
Open V4A and install driver
Reboot Android
I've testet with Google Music and Wimp.
PLEASE hit thanks if this helps you!
If you're on another Lollipop device the tricky part in making the V4A driver stick, is to manually edit the audio_effects.conf on the "Vendor" partition. V4A only writes to the system audio_effects.conf.

I had to edit the audio_effects.conf file in the Vendor folder to get the driver to stick. Add the lines in Step 6 of the following link: http://www.hacktabs.com/how-to-impr...ity-with-viper4android-audio-drivers-effects/
Leave out the lines for xhifi and look at the screenshot for the location in the file to add the lines.
After you do this, try to add the driver again, then restart.

I reverted to a backup before I flashed the Super Quality zip.
Which vendor folder? The /system/vendor/ folder that the driver creates or the /vendor/ folder in root? And the .conf file in /system/vendor/ already contains those lines. Even then, the driver won't stick.
If this provides more information, I'm using Dilligaf's kernel. But I'm positive that wouldn't affect the driver installation.
EDIT: Got it. I copied the audio_effects.conf in the /system/vendor/ folder and replaced the one in the /vendor/ folder. Driver sticks now

Good to hear. I'm not sure why some people have to add the lines and others don't.
Hmmm... The /system/vendor folder is just a shortcut to the /vendor/ folder on my device, so it should be the same...?
I'm on pure stock and as I see the posts, the ones having problems is on other roms or kernels.

I haven't gotten mine to work either. I just noticed it. However, my Oneplus One has IRS working on 5.0.1. It could be how the driver is behaving?

Igothacked said he was using my kernel/ramdisk, I'm not sure what ROM, but the kernel in my boot.img is completely stock, the only edits were to the ramdisk, and I'm positive that would not effect anything with this. I'm not sure about what Roms were being used, I guess it could make a difference, maybe permissions are slightly different or there is a difference with some symlinks with different roms and stock.
Thanks, also working on stock Acer A1-810 too.
I'm also running theLollipopalooza ROM and had to edit the file manually before the driver would install. All seems to be working fine now though. Thanks☺

RESURRECTION REMIX LATEST BOOTANIMATION
I came across the new boot animation made by AltanKRK {Creator of Resurrection Remix ROM} which he posted on Google+
It looked amazing and I wanted it desperately, I down scaled it and now I'm sharing it with all of you...
I down sclaed the boot animation to 480x480 and it works flawlessly on Galaxy grand duos..
**Didn't made it to 480x800 because then it looked out of proportion**
INSTRUCTIONS
1. Download bootanimation.zip from the attachments below..
2. Move it to /system/media {Optionally backup the old bootanimation.zip by renaming it to bootanimation.zip.old}
3. Set permissions as RW-R-R
4. Reboot
5. BOOM you have the latest awesome boot animation... :highfive:
***This zip is not flashable, you manually have to push it to your device***
TESTED ON:-
Samsung Galaxy Grand Duos GT-I9082 with Resurrection Remix v5.4.5
Note:- This will work with any phone with custom rom & matching screen resolution [480x800]
You can use file explorer like ES File Explorer to change the file permissions...

Hey the flashable zip works fine for me..
About the copy error you told, verify root is enabled in Settings-> Developer Settings
Open ES file explorer, open the left menu scroll down to tools and make sure root explorer is enable, then try to copy...
Then select the file open properties and change the permissions to RW-R-R..
Then reboot..
Refer to the screenshot below..
Note:- In the screenshot you've posted you're trying to change the file permissions while the file is in your downloads folder but the permissions option is available for files in root specific directories.. So first copy and then change permissions..

On my device it works without having the oat-folder and as far as I know the oat-folder won't be created again, because the apk is deodexed ...
I just downloaded my file again and did the whole process again and it still works .
Did you do it (copy the file and set the permissions) via adb?
Could you try it again?
md5 is: 43774a75b358b255ca629c0bfd56e289
md5 is correct, I set permissions with total commander, I did it with root explorer too, the permissions are correctly set (rw-,r--,r--) but camera app is nowhere to be found ... I will try with adb and see
The camera is missing after I did this.
Tried it on Marshmallow, can you help bro?
Followed the instructions carefully. Thank you
Tried via adb, doesn't work as well.
Upon checking the file SemcCameraUI-generic-xhdpi-release.apk its still my default apk and not the one i pushed with adb (the one i downloaded here), the oat folder was still there as well. Pretty sure I deleted it via adb as well and no error showed up.
Update: Tried it again via adb, this time SemcCameraUI-generic-xhdpi-release.apk pushed properly with correct permissions and oat folder deleted as well. But the camera is now missing again. Any ideas? Thank you
I had somehow similar problems that I can't explain ... just copy back your original files including the oat folder and check if its working again (it should) and afterwards try it again. For me it works ...

Thanks but tried it like 3 times already, no luck still.
Not working for me either on 6.0.1 -.-
Seems like .apk is broken or something (when opening .apk get parsing error )
and when replacing original .apk Camera disappears like the other ones said

Hello, what about using Xposed to create a module like the one working for Lollipop?
it would be a lot easier for people instead of replacing files, messing with odex files and It could probably support all the MM releases. If i have some time i could try to do it, but i'm not as skilled as you.
Apart from that, thank you a lot for the work! I've been searching this since ever.
modified camera for MM 6.0.1
Herewith modified camera file from 32.2.A.0.224
For me it works like a charm.
Enjoy!!

Changes to mixer_paths_tavil.xml lost in the reboot

As this post https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=78125891&postcount=43 describes, I modified mixer_paths_tavil.xml changing the AVC Volume value in attribute headphones-hifi-dac, from 15 to 6, in order to achieve the AUX volume values in normal mode
The file mixer_paths_tavil.xml is saved correctly. Then I mount /vendor read-only again and remount, and I check that the file remains changed with the modification done. The modification date timestamp reflects the change
But no effect in the sound
So I guess I should reboot the phone for the change takes into effect. But then, after the reboot, the mixer_paths_tavil.xml is again the original one without the changes (and the mofication date is Dec 31 2008, the original ...)
So how should I edit this file to keep the changes with the reboot?
I'm on Pie
Thanks in advance
I know with my v30 i changed values in mixer_paths tavil.xml set permissions reboot and I was all good but my lg g7 im still trying to unlock my bootloader with the instructions but after updating magisk manager I have no root to finish the rest of the commands. I wish I could edit this same file and see whats going on and why it wont stick after reboot.
I am also facing the sam issue my bootloader is unlocked and i am rooted on android 10. Changes dont stick after reboot.
First thing is make or edit magisk module to have this file changed. Second thing is make a file called service.sh (with permissions rw- r-- r-- or 0644)
In this file you need to write
Code:
killall audioserver
Explanation: Vendor partition in pie and android 10 is impossible to edit in case of LG G7. You need to have this file modified in magisk module with proper permissions and catalogs (vendor/etc). Even if you have audio related files modified in magisk module, there's second problem. Everything will be booted with default values. That's why you need service.sh with killall audioserver. This will reload all your audio related files at early stage of system boot, and new values will be applied.

Are u bootloader unlocked? If not then follow this guide to unlock it.
https://forum.xda-developers.com/lg-g7-thinq/how-to/howto-updated-guide-to-unlock-t4168771
After that rooting is very simple process use QFIL to backup your boot_a img copy it to phone install magisk manager and and patch that file with magisk. Then write this img file to ur boot_a partition using QFIL and thats it.
