LineageOS community build ROM for OnePlus 5T ? - OnePlus 5T Questions & Answers

Why official LineageOS community don't build ROM for OnePlus 5T ?
It is some thing wrong on OnePlus 5T hardware driver ?

Until the unofficial builds have everything worked out it will not go official. Second they are only building Oreo builds at the moment, and there are no Official LOS 15 builds at all at the moment. So if you want an official Lineage build, someone needs to start building a 14.1 build for dumpling. Which honestly in my opinion would be a good thing, as many features are still missing for 15.1.
So:
1. There are no official builds for LOS 15.1 yet for any device.
2. The unofficial builds are not bug free, so they would not meet official build standards yet.
You have to wait. Give it time.

You can watch developers' progress on 15.1 for the OP5T here:

But notice, the last commit was 6 days ago, and compared to the OP5, it has a long way to go:

Which version of lineageOS should I use?

I'm about to get an OnePlus 5T. I definitely want to use LineageOS on it but since there is no official version for LAOS for the 5T (not14.1 ,nor 15.1) yet I will have to stick to a unofficial or semi-official version. There are two popular ones in this forum:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-5t/development/rom-lineageos-15-0-t3721193
and
https://forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-5t/development/rom-lineageos-15-1-oreo-oneplus-5t-t3730058
.
The second one seems more beta-ish but its from the official maintainer of the LAOS 14 build for the OnePlus 5T. The second one seems way more done with the only two things not working being VoLTE and the weird WIFI turned off after a restart bug. So nothing major imo.
What is your guys opinion? Which version should I use?

LineageOS official vs unofficial?

I see that there are no official Albus version of LineageOS. Does anyone know why?
What's the difference between official and unofficial builds? Why doesn't LOS just take the unofficial build available here and add them to their official builds?
Sorry I'm a little confused (and disappointed that LOS doesn't seem interested in Motorola's latest devices... Which could only be me misunderstanding how it works)
Well, it's a mess to completely explain this but I don't have anything else to do.
When we are talking about unoffucial builds, they are more likely to get bugs and stuff like that because "developer" is still working in it for fixing bugs of the device tree and all that things.
Once the ROM is official, basically the only difference is that you can have OTA updates by the official updater of the ROM or download the software from the official website (download.lineageos.org) and you may have less bugs because the ROM has to meet certain requirements to be an official one.
LineageOS isn't the one who works for the devices, it depends on the developers that buy that device to work on it. Lineage only provides the main source and support for certain devices with high end specs.
And finally, there's no official LineageOS for our phone because it's still too alpha for it.

Official LineageOS 16 build coming up?

Dear Folks,
there're like at least 3-4 unofficial builds of LineageOS 16.0 unofficial. In the past (before christmas) there was the plan of getting one dev maintaining the official LOS 16 build. I can't find any recent information. Any news on that?
I'm interested in LineageOS 16 for MicroG. Their build roaster depends on official LineageOS 16 builds - so without them I can't get that.
Thanks for your help.

Was there any precedent case where a device skipped an official LOS version?

By LOS, I mean LineageOS.
I have noticed that it is not getting a nightly build over a month since LOS 16.1 was released. I guess this is because N7's official LOS version is 14.1 and LOS does not provide updates for versions that is more than 1-major-version older. (That is, they currently only updates LOS 16.0 and LOS 15.1)
One could think that N7 skips LOS 15.1 and get LOS 16, but my question is, was there any such precedent case for any other device? If not and N7 has been abandoned by LOS for good, I would probably have to abandon LOS and get some other custom ROMs for N7.
I don't know the answer to your specific question but I have installed an unofficial LineageOS 15.1 for Nexus 7 2013 with the latest (March) security updates.

I'm really pleased overall. Seems snappier and more battery efficient as compared to 14.1. Everything works apart from I have no compass, but I think this might be a hardware problem (not sure as I didn't check before updating). Obviously with it being unofficial there are no OTA updates and I'll have to keep an eye out for any new updates and do it manually. I did try a Pie rom but it seemed laggy and buggy.

Difference between unofficial and official custom rom releases ? (example: LOS 17.1)

Hi, I'd like to know the difference between unofficial and official custom rom releases.
1) What is the difference between an official release and an unofficial release? Is there any difference in their updating process?
2) Can you explain me the process of birth of an official release since the source code release? How an official releaser is chosen? For example LOS 17 doesn't have an official build yet, is one year after its first release. Why?
3) Almost any other oneplus smartphone got 17.1 but 5T not. Why? Is it less supported by community?
Any additional explanation will be very useful and appreciated.
