Games lag in my new Lava Red Oneplus 5t - OnePlus 5T Questions & Answers

Bought 5t a week ago, Updated to latest version, stock rom, not rooted... When i try to play heavy games like Asphalt 8 and Assasins Creed, game lags a lot. Light games are working fine. Tried reset but nothing changes.

Try wiping your cache and dalvik cache in the stock recovery (if that's an option). Try clearing the cache of the games that you are having lag issues with. You could uninstall the lagging games, restart your phone, and then reinstall them (though you'll lose your game data). If none of that works, then you may have to reset your phone to its factory state, install your gaming apps and see if the lag has gone away.

Make sure you have enabled "force gpu rendering" and "force 4xMSAA" in developer options, hope this helps, cheers.

[Q] Instagram crashes, is it the rom, libs, drivers or Instagram itself?

Hi.
I installed RomAur for Z1 (on my Z1C) using the instructions and the correct patches without any issues. Then I installed the unofficial DoomKernel, the updated Z3 Bionic and Dalvik Libs and the updated Adreno drivers from Nexus 5.
The problem is that I tried installing them one after another and checking if I get any errors but it worked out fine, until now.
Nothing on my phone feels slow or crashes except Instagram when I'm trying to view a video that has been posted.
I reverted back to the original graphic drivers, the original Qualcomm libs and even a backup from before I started installing my favorite apps. It doesn't make any difference.
I just want to know if anyone is experiencing the same crash with their phone and I'd like to get some help troubleshooting the problem. Because the only thing that ever gives me any problem is viewing posted video on Instagram.
Do you have any tips or knowledge about what the problem that causes this could be?
I guess the worst case scenario would be to back up all apps using Titanium Backup then re-install the phone again and probably skip the libs and graphic drivers.
I have of course wiped cache and dalvik cache when I did the updates and I've also tried re-installing Instagram and removing the cache and whatnot.

Youtube Video Stuttering and Google Play store freeze on App Installation on 3.5.5

Hey Guys,
I am using the 3.5.5 build with 3.2.7 fw.
Everything is working fine except youtube videos keep stuttering. I tried changing resolutions (144p to 1080p) but nothing worked.
Also play store freezes when apps are getting updated/installed followed by SystemUI getting restarted.
is anyone facing the same issue?
im rooted and have xposed

Before posting any issues pertaining to software like fcs, lag or stuttering first do a clean install and see if everything works fine without the mods, then once you've ascertained the stability of a clean rom install one mod at a time to find issue causing mod.
If that appears to be a job too cumbersome then do the following
Xposed is major cause of such issues uninstall one module at a time and see if the issue is resolved.
Don't flash fw of one rom over other you never know how your rom and mod setup will behave to the new firmware.
Sometimes a restoring data of apps through Titanium backup could cause such issue try restoring the app alone then the data of apps you deem to be very essential.
The best way is to wipe your data clean and not install unnecessary mods.
Clear Cache
Try this for the play store:
1. disable (settings)
2. clear cache
3. show system apps (back in setting app menu)
4. disable and clear cache of google services framework
5. reboot
6. re-enable play services
I had a similar issue were I could not update apps via playstore and could not download any files on my device.
Additionally, google photos and the camera app closed themselves immediately.
Clearing app data for Download-Manager and Downloads followed by a restart fixed it for me.

Applications are lagging and crashing after Oreo update

A while ago I was using lineage on my g5 but after some bank app issues, I started using the stock ROM again. After the Oreo update (November I guess?) some apps became unusable, some examples are the YouTube that freezes for more than 10 seconds and crashes shortly after or WhatsApp that when I click on any conversation it freezes for a long time before becoming responsible again. If I try to open any game it freezes on the splash art as well. I tried a factory reset but the problem still happens, so I downgraded to 7.0 and it still persists even though it wasn't happening in this version in the past.
I am out of ideas, any suggestions?

Do running problematic apps (that you have mentioned) while phone's in the safe mode change something? Does the phone feel more responsive than usually? If yes, try the following. Backup all of your important data and wipe your phone one more time (data + cache). Then, set it up as a brand new and start installing (don't restore them) the apps you use slowly (one by one) to determine, which one may cause lag.

Yeah the phone is more responsive. Everything is normal, then I tried opening YouTube (one of the problematic apps that aren't disabled in safe mode) and it is still freezing and after some seconds it is crashing. So the problem is still happening even in safe mode.
I thought it would be a problem with media in general but the photo app and chrome are working normally.

Do you have an sdcard inserted? If yes, is it formatted as an external storage or as an adoptable storage (means extends internal memory)?
Which ROM are you running (if stock, write its build number also)? Write all modifications made to your phone too (e.g. unlocked bootloader, TWRP or Magisk installed etc.), please.
One more thing to ask, which version of Moto G5 do you own (2/32 or 3/16) and aren't you running out of system resources (e.g. RAM) constantly? Check your average RAM usage (in Oreo, it's under "Developer options") and the apps which consume the biggest amount of the RAM.

Strange Google services behavior after latest AT&T update

I received the latest AT&T update a week or so ago containing the 2.5 One UI update. After the update, I am experiencing some really strange issues with a variety of Google services.
1) Google Play Store updates are stalling. Most apps will download to a high percentage of completion (98% for example) and then just stall. If I leave the phone sit for a long time, eventually the updates will finish. This happens with every single app update or new download. I have 100GB free on the phone and it occurs on multiple networks (WIFI and AT&T).
2) GMail attachments won't download. They also stall at 0%.
3) I don't receive any incoming text messages when Google Messages Chat is enabled. Turning off chat and switching to SMS works though several texts say they failed to send and I have to retry (and they always end up going through). WIFI Calling is enabled.
4) Notifications from multiple apps are returning after I swipe them away. (Notification reminders is turned off in accessibility settings).
I did the usual - cleared cache in Google Play Store, Google Play Services, Google Services Framework, Download Manager. I cleared the cache after booting to recovery. When none of that fixed it, I completely reset my phone to factory conditions. Everything worked fine for 2 days and then today, all of the problems came back.
Everything else about the phone is normal as usual. I can't figure this one out and don't know what else to troubleshoot.
Try clearing the system cache on the boot menu.

Is that the same thing as clearing the cache after booting to recovery? (Volume up and power button)

That's it. Can work like voodoo on lots of gremlins.
If that doesn't get it try clearing data on the Google apps. Might have to take it back to the stone age but probably not.
Reboot afterwards if you do. Playstore is a pain.
If the OS hasn't been reloaded since Q was flashed consider reloading to get a snappy clean load.
My 3rd OS load is the best.
Although I'm still running Pie, it's fast and very stable... lol, I like dinosaurs. I don't update a lot as it usually causes more problems than it solves.
I had cleared the cache from recovery before I factory reset and it didn't fix it. However, I just tried it again on the new rebuild and this time I cleared the cache 5 times in a row and then rebooted. It appears to have fixed all of the problems. I wonder if it was a bad app update to Google Play Services after the restoration to factory conditions?

Sometimes you're better off staying on the factory load versions. I never let auto updates run.
I keep Playstore disabled unless I want to use it or check for updates because of this and it also is a resource pig.
Manually doing it makes spotting the trouble maker easier.
I also keep backup copies of known good updates for system apks so that the factory load isn't my only recourse if a apk been updated more than once. APK Export is a great freeware app for doing this. Backup all your Playstore apps too for faster and easier reloads. Plus if Playstore discontinues the app, you still have it. Been boned by Playstore* once too often.
*sometimes the software goes greedy, gets sold or there's a licensing issue. Either way once it's gone having a known good copy makes life so much easier.
Hello,
The same thing is happening to me but for several months now. I am in Spain with Movistar. The only way I could get them to update the Google Play APPs was to switch my mobile to "safe mode" and from there it really works.
I'm going to try a factory reset, to see how it went.

A reload probably won't help. It will very likely reoccur.
It sounds like a 3rd* party apk is the culprit.
Find the root cause and correct it.
It may be just a setting issue in a 3rd party apk.

Problem with gallery and play store

Hi everyone!
I hope not to have the wrong section. I have some problem with my samsung note 10 plus Exynos, and I don't understand what it could be, maybe samsung updates? (I currently have the latest version of android 10)
My problem is the following: for some time downloading applications from the google play Store is problematic, it often crashes and does not finish downloading the application. I have already tried several times to clear data and cache, without solving. Another problem concerns the gallery, if I download a photo (from chrome or whatsapp etc.) it does not always appear in the gallery immediately, but a few minutes pass. It only happens with the samsung gallery, with other applications it does not happen, everything is regular. Again tried several times to clear the cache and data, without success. In addition I also did a hard reset from recovery, but I have the same problems. How can I solve? Thanks!
Hi all, finally i have found the solution.
To resolve, you need to install "Heartbeat Fixer for GCM", and set refresh to 2 minutes. (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=io.github.mobodev.heartbeatfixerforgcm).
Hope that can help someone. Bye!
Try clearing system cache.
Clear Google Play Services data.
Try rolling back effected apps to their factory load versions.
If you have done a major firmware update without a factory reset, do so now.
