A5 dual drops cellular connectivity - Samsung Galaxy A3, A5, A7 (2017) Questions & Answe

Hi
I have an A5 2017 dual sim. It has THR CSC code, but I use it in Hungary. Recently I got the new SW update over OTA (A520FXXU4BRAB) which made the phone tottaly unsuble in terms of the cellular connectivity. It hardly connects to LTE network, if it does, sometimes the mobile data is not working altough it show that it's connectetted and data are downloaded/uploaded. After a while it drops completetly the cellular network, can't reconnect for a while. So not just the mobile data are not working but i cannot even make/recceive any phone calls. If I force to use only 2G network at least phone calls can be made. For me it seems that the handover between mobile stations (or switching between 4.5G/4G/3G) is not working properly.
I had no such issues with the previuous SW (A520FXXU3BQL4). I did the 'wipe cache' - no result. Then full factory reset but still no result.
Since it's a dual sim phone, I switched the data connectivity to the another SIM (not just another SIM, but different carrier), but the symptomps are the same.
Do anyone has some idea what could I do?
Is it possible to downgrade the previous SW with Odin? I have downloaded the SW from sammobile but I don't dare to flash it.
There is no root on the phone, only original Samsung FWs were used, knox is active.
Thank for your kind help.

I have found a very similar problem description in the S6 forum ( https://forum.xda-developers.com/ga...-network-data-connection-drops-t3097605/page7 )
Has anyone experienced this on A5?

sim 2 slot is for 2g only
i was using sim 1 for 3g and sim 2 for calls
but latter on i got some free 3g data on sim 2
i physically swapped sim slots of sims for using 3g of sim 2
now my sim 2 was in 4g/3g/2g slot of phone
and sim 1 was in 2g slot of phone
upon reboot i was unable to use 3g on sim one
while selecting manually error was shown that sim 2 is in wcdma mode ...
now mannual searching for networks in sim 1 only showing gsm signal
while sim 2 showing 3g networks
restart reboot nothing worked
factory reset solved the issue
but again upon swapping sims phone was stuck in gsm mode on both sim
again factory reset did the job .....

I'm having the same issue. For me factory reset didn't fix it. However, now slot 2 runs 3g/4g while slot 1 is stuck in 2g, so I just put my data sim into the slot marked 2G (which now runs 3G/4G) and my other sim into the slot marked 2G/3G/4G (which now runs only 2G), and that works just fine. The 2G/3G/4G setting for slot 1 does nothing now, and there's no such setting for slot 2, but the latter is running 3G/4G anyway, so I'm ok with that.

which firmware are you on?
one work around is switch both sims to 2g then replace sim and re boot ....
factory reset while both sim are removed
but i think this issue is not present in official 6 update.

Slot 1 is already stuck at "GSM only" and slot 2 doesn't have that setting at all, so not really sure how to do that.
download flash latest firmware LGD856 v20c from here
http://lg-phone-firmware.com/index.php?id_mod=41
back up your data ( all data will be erased )
remove sd card
remove both sims
flash it ( for guide search in forum )
after booting turn on phone use it for while and again factory reset it
now put both sims and it will be normal again i.e sim for 2g 3g and lte and sim 2 for 2g
one bug i have noted in v30b firmware that if we search mobile network in manually it will return error but auto network search will work normally

Is there some reason not to flash version V30C instead? Will I have a problem rooting it?
(Actually I seem to have lost root somehow in my current setup as well, I really need it back..)
Humm
For root i won't recommend it .....

Moto Z Play not showing VoLTE for specific JIO Sim

Hello Everyone,
I need some help regarding the network issues for Moto Z Play.
I started this thread because after doing a lot of solutions, resets and still it wasn't successful.
So here's the story -
Two days ago my brother gave me the phone which was in excellent condition (VoLTE working, Battery Performance, etc.) working on Android 7.0.
Then he did a reset on the phone from Settings so I can use it.
When I inserted my SIM Cards in the phone, I got network and everything and immediately I received an Update for Nougat 7.1.1. I installed the update and then when the phone booted, I did the setup and everything. But l wasn't able to get VoLTE on my phone. There was no Enhanced LTE Mode option in Settings. I thought it was something temporary and maybe after sometime I will be automatically resolved but it didn't.
The next day I started researching over the internet and found clearing the cache or data of settings or hard reset from recovery/settings will do and I did it but none of the solutions worked. Then I thought it was the SIM problem but it wasn't. I inserted the same Jio SIM from my phone into another VoLTE phone and it was working. I also tried another Jio SIM in Moto and it was showing VoLTE and everything was working perfect. Also I inserted my idea SIM (which was in SIM2 slot) in SIM 1 and it was not showing even 4G range (Just 3G) (The idea SIM is also 4G).
I tried everything - Swapping SIM cards, resetting the phone, Clearing cache, etc. I don't know why this has happened as my brother was using the same carrier sim in same slots (SIM1 - Jio|SIM2- Idea).
I also called the JIO care and they took the complaint and they told me they would look forward to it in 48 hours.
Also, my bootloader is locked and can I flash original stock firmware? (I guess that's only thing left I haven't tried) If so, please provide the link and guide to flash the firmware.
If Anyone has a solution please help me, I am in big trouble.
Get a new sim card for your number. Don't ask why. But this will work, trust me.

Thanks man, I was too thinking of that and went to JIO store. They had a server error and will be back available in 4-5 days. Will then post with new SIM results.

No signal, No network, YES Imei

Hi everyone, good morning
I pose this problem ...
I updated my GT-N7100 from the stock version 4.4.2 to 7.1 RR, which is why the phone was no longer lit. The Samsung word appeared looping at its ignition and no reset options worked.
All after the battery suddenly abandoned me!
After the upgrade, unfortunately the mobile network is no longer detected, or rather, the phone does not hook up the signal even if mobile networks are detected (select networks, Vodafone, Tim, Wind, Tre).
If I try to hook my network manually (Tim), the error is the inability to record.
I checked IMEI and is present, and, as mentioned above, networks if you look manually are seen.
I've downgraded to version 4.2.2 to figure out if the problem was about rom, but even with this version the network is not hooked up.
I also tried with other sim, but nothing in fact.
Unfortunately the backup I made did not go well and did not save the files in the EFS folder .... the badge sees us well !!!!!
Do you have any suggestions?
I also tried to reflect the rom Viper, but no change in the network ...
What other tests could I do? Thank you all!

Anyone having a data roaming issue with Oreo?

Hey all, I'm a Canadian truck driver that has an (unlocked) S7 Active (on T-Mobile) that I've recently upgraded to Oreo via Odin. The phone works better than ever except now when I'm in Canada, network data no longer works properly. I say properly because every once in a while it will connect long enough to receive a few emails then will disconnect again. But most of the time it just doesn't connect. The data roaming worked perfectly on Nougat (BRA7).
Here's what i've done so far:
Clean install of Oreo (CRE7) via Odin 3.13.1
Factory reset via recovery
Cleared Cache via recovery
Data doesn't connect properly.
Downloaded CRE7 again in case it was a bad download.
Repeated the flashing, factory reset, and clearing of the cache just in case something went wrong.
Data still not working properly.
Updated from CRE7 to CRH1
Updated from CRH1 to CRJ1
Cleared cache
Restarted phone, cycled airplane mode, #766#
Data still not working properly
Bought a new SIM thinking that may be the problem. But no change with the data.
And yes mobile data and international data are turned on in the phone.
When I flashed the phone I was at home in Canada. So I thought maybe it would have to connect to a T-Mobile tower to get the proper network settings. So on my next trip to the US, the data worked perfectly in the US once it connected to a T-mobile tower. But once back in Canada it stopped working again.
When I manually try to switch to a Canadian network (Bell, Telus or Rogers), I will get the message "Disconnect Network... Unable to search for networks while data service is in use. Stop using current data service and search for other available networks?" Which I find strange because the phone isn't connected to data.
I have found a temp solution to getting the LTE to work by opening an app that requires location data (in my case it was Weigh My Truck), and that seems to force the phone to connect to the LTE network.
I've bought a 2nd s7 active to have as a spare phone and won't be updating it until Oreo is 100% stable on the S7 active.
Does anyone else have this issue? Is there a permanent fix?

[SOLVED] Keep losing mobile service

I'm gonna lose my mind.
Last week I did a factory reset. Everything was great for a few days. Then as of Monday, my phone no longer connected to mobile network. (I'm on Visible, which is a Verizon MVNO.)
I tried the same SIM card in another phone, and it worked — but a different SIM card did not work in my phone. So it must be the phone, right?
I looked at About phone > SIM card status:
Network: Visible
Mobile network state: Disconnected
Service state: In service
IMS reg status: Registered
Signal strength: -113 dbm
Network Cell Info Lite app showed the nearest tower and:
SIM state: Ready
Service state: In-Service
I tried resetting network settings and restarting in safe mode, but that didn't help. Visible said to take the phone in to Samsung repair center.
So I did that. They ran a diagnostic, and said everything was fine. They said try factory reset again.
So I factory reset the phone, again, from recovery mode, wiping with cache several times.
After, service was working. Yay!
But then a few hours later, the battery died, and ipon powering back up, I AGAIN no longer have cell service!
Could it be related to adding a work profile? Enabling dev mode?
Any bloody idea what is happening??
I'm loathe to do another factory reset, as it takes me half a day to set up everything again (Work profile authentication, etc.)
Please help save my sanity.
Thanks!

Try playing about with this app, it allows you to force the phone to connect to specific network bands, possible you could force it to reconnect when it drops out
Samsung Band Selection - Apps on Google Play
This app will help you access hidden network settings for forcing band selection
play.google.com
SOLVED!
I popped in a SIM from a different carrier, causing phone to restart, then put back the Visible SIM, forcing phone to re-retrieve settings.
Whew!
Couldve been a CSC issue?
