Motorola Brings Android Oreo to the Moto Z, Z2 Play, G5, G5S and More - Moto G5 Plus Guides, News, & Discussion

https://www.xda-developers.com/motorola-rolls-out-android-oreo-moto-z-z2-g5-g5s-more/

The article says that the rollout is in Australia and New Zealand. Has anyone from there actually received it yet for the g5+? If so, what is the software channel?

lmao

It cracks me up that some people are saying it's fake because some unpaid forum moderator on the Motorola forums said so. Ausdroid's source is an email from a PR firm representing Lenovo/Moto, so I'm more inclined to believe it's true when the only source for it being false is someone with about as much authority as a random moderator on a forum.

Stop kidding yourself

Yet it still didn't happen. No roll-outs, nothing. Their news IS bull****. Actually, it's not news. Motorola already listed the devices months ago.
Ausdroid pretty much said: "It will rollout." Any f*cking idiot could have said that.
It's been two weeks or so, it didn't happen yet. So what is the f*cking point?

Agreed, of it is out in the next 6 months some people will say the story was right!

That's just it, if you read the source article you'd see that it is rolling out. The PR firm representing moto said that it was releasing on the X4, and then from there it would release on a list of devices. Well, guess what? The X4 got their Oreo rollout. So that's definitely progress, if they say "this device gets Oreo, then afterwards these devices will too", and the initial device named gets the update.
That means we'll likely see Oreo rolling out across AUS/NZ on the whole list before the end of March. So far, moto has kept their word about what they told the PR firm.

The HTC Dream (HTC G1) is due to be released in September/October in the US and possibly Europe
I second that. Dream forum please?
The site admin (Flar) is currently on vacation, perhaps post back in a weeks time and something might be arranged

good stuff i was wonding if its up but its not out yet... when it does... my dream will come true... lol.
Finally some official info out today. It'll be released in the US on October 22nd. Going for $179 with a 2 year contract. And I think $199 for a 1 year contract possibly...
Its the 1st time I've seen HTC sell a major phone exclusivly to the US. I only hope us in the rest of the world will get a release or a chance to get it out of network.

Hmmm ... that's going to make my next phone purchase a tough one. AT&T's Rapheal, or T-Mobile's Dream. Windows or Android. Doh.
Tsss, its gotta be Android of course. I like Winmo too so far, since its really been the only proper OS over symbian and others for modibility and such. But opensource Android (linux) has clearly waaaaaay more flexibility and will be my 1st choice.
.
Can some-one rip the Amazon MP3 app, reverse engineer the api and bring it to Windows Mobile? How hard can it be? The underlying OS is open source, so the api calls can be easily identified, and it only downloads songs, so it cant be too complicated.

i'd like a touch hd WITH keyboard AND flash and android on it... the dream is nice but hasnt top notch specs... otherwise id like android (through haret) on my pharos

Raphael. Mainly because Android will most certainly be recompiled to run on it, but probably not vice versa. They both run on the MSM7201A even.
Hey all. To dispel any rumors about the Dream (now officially the T-mobile G1) Ive added some more info to the Dream Wiki. All the info has been gleamed from the various official sources at the launch etc. Check it out, very informative.

10 Oct 2010 - Windows Phone 7

Sorry about the title, typed in the wrong date.
It's confirmed. Windows Phone 7 will launch on the 11th of October in New York. T-Mobile is one of the launch carriers. AT&T is confirmed to be the second.

This seems more like speculation with a bit of truth. Don't really care though I'm on Tmobile, because I know it will come soon.
I plan on upgrading , but I won't do it until I see a device with a 32GB option. If not then I'll just get the Zune HD2 64GB (If it is real) with a Android Device.
T-Mobile is definitely not the only carrier for WP7.
http://www.engadget.com/2010/10/04/...ndts-ralph-de-la-vega-to-headline-windows-ph/
It very well may be that AT&T will be exclusive for a bit with T-Mo getting devices later. Maybe AT&T is getting them the same date as Europe (October 21st) and T-Mo is launching November 8th?
I don't believe its a lunch. Its just a press meeting for people to see what the finished devices are like.

Depends on your definition of "launch". In this case, they're showing off the devices and announcing retail availability, etc. Everything about the v1 release should be fully open... no more of this "we can't tell you that" (except in regards to future updates).

Right. But it won't be available to consumers right on that day will it? That's what I meant. I associate "launch" to "consumer-availability"

I dunno. But i can tell you that if is true than 10 October finally I am going to grab this object, I will bring with me everywhere.
Nobody is succesfully traveling at the moment with the new sammy, on a fly that before were interdicting it?
Call a flight attendant a "hostess" and you'll have bigger problems than your Note7. I flew with my old pre-replacement Note7 turned off and on my tray table on American and Delta. No one noticed or cared. If they do notice or care I'd suggest printing out and carrying the following. You can also show them your device is OK using the Samsung+ app. I highly doubt you'll be asked unless a member of the flight crew is also a mobile device enthusiast.

fair enough Barry. Just last week i flew with Transavia, it was written at the moment of the check in, that I could not bring my note 7, not that I have to have a new eligible one. I really hope that Samsung, will manage this contacting every fly agency, because the Samsung target is also one that flies imo.

You could have flown with the old one.
Take your old receipt for the original and the new receipt for the new one. I doubt that could be argued with.
I totally sympathise with flight crew who are security conscience, if they apply rules to me I feel rather happy knowing they are just the same with all passengers and their has been a small problem with the Note 7 so at 11,000M I agree with very high security.
What concerns me is the attitude of a tiny minority who are refusing to change mobiles despite knowing the situation. Very selfish attitude especially as Samsung has agreed to change all 'old' devices.

Damn that would almost tempt me to root again. But not for Pay and banking. We need a phone that is shipped with the bootloader unlocked and rooted. Then if you try to lock it or unroot you get a warning that your apps won't work now. Then you wake up.

Oh paranoid android will come to our device alright! It just won't be supported for more than like an update like always. Everytime I switch to PA they abandon it. Funniest part is they usually JUST released it to. Extremely hard pass from me, but don't let ME stop you. Just don't tell me I didn't warn you when they cease development very quickly.

Lmao you're right though I'm not falling for the hype anymore. It seems they just do it for likes , shares and donations cuz for the like the last few years they'll announced a new version when the next Android os drops then after a build or 2 they go missing again for a whole year or 2 and leave us in the dust I'm good!
yeah i stayed away as its not guaranteed to be updated all the time
my go to custom ROMs are AOSIP or Havoc but neither are developing for P6 I think. But Proton does look like it could be good also.
Agree with the commenters here; Paranoid Android is no longer reputable (and hasn't been in many years). ProtonAOSP, Lineage, AOSIP, and a bunch of other mainstream ROMs will officially support the P6 so it is absolutely not worth messing with PA.
I'd like to add "but" the more developers working on the P6P the better for everyone, even if one group's stuff isn't up to snuff. At least, as long as they share information when appropriate, which the best developers do, in my opinion.

Yeah, development on the P5 was severely lacking but on the P6 and the P6P many more people have it in their hands. Unfortunately, I don't root any longer but I like to see the tweaks and new stuff the devs come up with. (I actually rooted my P5 and loaded a rom before rolling it back before I sent it in for trade-in) Specifically kernel tweaks which are usually drastically needed. Nonetheless, it's a good start as you say.
