What is S-OFF mean?

Maybe someone can work with this and try to get it working... https://htcfz.wordpress.com/2018/01/13/htc-u11-eyes-twrp-recovery-untest/

http://theroot.ninja/faq.html
Why should I s-off when I can just unlock?
With an unlocked bootloader, you are able to flash and run custom recoveries, ROMs, and kernels. This is enough for many users. With s-off you have full control of the device. You can do things like flash radios and custom hboots. You can even change properties like CID and MID that can allow you to convert to different editions of your device. If you are a true power user, you need s-off.

Did you download the Stock ROM file? I sent you the link already.
If you have any further questions just ask and I'll try to answer if I can

I did yes... I do not have device, but I can make an insecure boot image for you guy,if bootloaders are able to be unlocked, should at least enable device to get root...

Hey, Thanks! is this the ROM that has China Sense version ? If so, I already got the same on my U11 eyes.
BTW regarding S-Off, When your device is set to S-OFF, the security is turned off. This allows you to modify any partition on the device, and changes will not be reset upon a reboot. Also, the signature checking of the firmware zips (ie: PJ75IMG.zip) is disabled, allowing users to flash unsigned firmware zips containing the separate images of the partitions. S-OFF gives the user great power over the device, but also comes with much responsibility to be careful.

What's your device CID and MID? I tried flashing the RUU but doesn't push through. Getting Error 10 which means I have to change the MID and probably CID too.

Thanks for sharing the file!! Got it done on my U11 eyes..Now it's working fine..BTW it's kinda hard to explain the definition of both CID and MID but MID stands for Model Identification. It's what I did to flash the RUU you shared, got to change the MID to 2Q410000.?

Post the results of fastboot getvar all Delete the serial# and IMEI from the output. That is private information.
There may be an RUU that you could run to update, and your getvar will give the information that is needed to determine that.

I'm not sure that Lollipop is even available for the Middle East/Egyptian model. Your best bet would be to spend $25 for Sunshine S-Off, convert to superCID, and update with WWE/International firmware. You could also try to change your MID to 0P6B10000 and update that way, but there is a very real risk of bricking if you do that.
---------- Post added at 07:48 PM ---------- Previous post was at 07:22 PM ----------
You could also try this. No guarantees that it will work, but it might (your CID is listed as compatible, but the MID makes me wonder). You won't brick, you will just get error ouputs if it doesn't
Download this RUU.zip
Rename it to 0P6BIMG.zip (that's a zero, not the letter) and place it onto the root of your extSD.
Boot into bootloader and select hboot if it doesn't do that automatically.
Follow the prompts (vol up to flash, power button to reboot)
That's it.
After you are done make sure to delete the renamed file from your SD card, otherwise every time you boot to bootloader it will try tro update again.
Good luck!

Your radio version is the same as mine, and I'm on WWE so there is nothing to worry about there. You won't receive OTA updates MID. You can still update via RUU when the next version comes out, or you can get S-Off and just flash the firmware. I should have already let you know; and I am sorry that I forgot to mention it; but the RUU will wipe your phone so make sure you backup everything that is important to you. Make a backup to your extSD. That won't get wiped.

Hi. I don't mean to hijack this post or whatever but I have the same problem with the same MID and CID. I bought the phone from Riyadh and I am not receiving any OTA. I tried that RUU and it failed giving me the following error:
Code:
Model ID incorrect!
Update Fail!
Device halted due to Large Image update fail!
Press <POWER> to reboot.
EDIT: I did get the Stagefright fix by OTA if that helps somehow.

It's a zip made from the official RUU.
It won't affect which ROMs you can flash.
If you have the same model as the OP, it won't work. You will need to get S-Off and change your MID first.

I see you issue solved itself. But just FYI, the above RUU would not have worked on your phone. You can't just run any RUU, it needs to match your carrier ID (CID) and model ID (MID). You can change CID and MID, but only with s-off.

I assume your phone is S-ON. You can't downgrade or flash RUUs for different SKUs than 425.
The problem: There are only RUUs for firmware 1.34.425.7 and 1.34.425.8. So unless you don't have S-OFF you can't use them.

Did you try re-unlocking via HTCdev? The M9 has some security checks which prevent the phone from booting if the bootloader is locked/relocked and the phone is not completely stock. If that doesn't help you may need to look for someone with a java card.
For answering your second question I'm qoting myself from another thread:

But you need to pay if you want to download files from that site. Since I know someone who has an account I may be able to get one of the RUUs for you. (Can't guarantee anything.)

As far as I know the 1.34.425.7 RUU is getting uploaded on AFH at the moment. But as said before you won't be able to use it without S-OFF.

I can't re-unlock my phone i tried like 3 times already.
That would be great if you could upload the file and link it here...
There you go (thanks to Handy-FAQ.de). But as said before it's useless if you don't have S-OFF.
Edit: I guess the option OEM Unlock (located in developer options) hasn't been activated before you relocked the bootloader, am I right? That's why you can't re-unlock. But you could still look for someone who owns a java card to get S-OFF, use the RUU service on Llabtoofer's website or hope that someone creates and uploads a TWRP backup that contains an untouched system image, the boot image and the stock recovery of your currently installed firmware.

remove the imei nubmer first of all. Flash European RUU and youll be fine. Check out flippys thread in the general section for more info and instuctions
Thank you, I just removed it. And about RUU I could not find in flappy's post, If you give a simpler source for finding European RUU it would be so great.

Thanks for your helps.
New problem appeared!!!
I'm not able to unlock bootloader and install twrp to install stock rom backups https : //www .androidfilehost.com/?fid=24052804347802868. I figured that in order to unlock bootloader there is a tick in developer options but my phone won't boot up to make that happen.
I think the only way I can bring device back to life is find a 2.10.401.1 or above singed exe ruu, but there is no such a thing on Internet.
Pm flippy for help. He's a nice guy.

look under the RUU tile. Youll find the correct ruu that you need - 2.10.410.1. No twrp needed just flash it in download mode
Tnx a lot, I didn't even notice the tabs above that page. Everything is fine right now. :good::good::good:

Okay..............
I'm, not sure why. Both will do the exact same thing, it's just the method of flashing that is different.
.exe is like downloading software for your PC. You run the .exe and the install wizard takes care of the rest.
If you use the .zip, you can either fastboot flash it, or use the SDcard method to flash

Yes.
Plug your phone into your PC, double click the download, and follow the prompts.
But if you are S-On, you will need to relock your bootloader first. In fastboot: fastboot oem lock then run the RUU
EDIT: I should also say just in case you don't know, running the RUU will wipe your device, so be sure to backup anything that is important to you first

But after I have to install the firmware, right?
1 - 6.20.651.3 Modified Firmware...removed recovery (fastboot flashable);
2 - 6.20.651.3 Modified Firmware...removed boot & recovery (fastboot flashable);
3 - 6.20.651.3 Full Firmware...(fastboot flashable);
4 - 6.20.651.3 Signed Full Firmware...(fastboot flashable).
Which I choose?
At the bootloader screen said: "[...] S-OFF".

If you are S-On, take #4, and you won't need the RUU. Just flash that. Backup first of course. That might wipe as well

The bootloader screen shows more or less that:
*** Software status: Official ***
*** LOCKED ***
M8_WHL PVT SHIP S-OFF
CID-11111111
[...]
Edit: So, first I unlock the bootloader, install TWRP, flash firmware file and finally the RUU?

I flash the "Full firmware" or I don't need the stock recovery?
No need to worry about stock recovery. As long as you installed 6.x firmware, reboot to bootloader then install RUU

Great :good:
If you ever want to install a custom ROM, make sure you install custom ROM with Sprint support.
Never flash a GSM firmware on it as it will brick the radio and may brick the device too due to different partition layout.

I think I'll install a custom ROM... The memory option shows just a little more tham 500 Mb free, that's normal? If yes, what can do to free up more memory or what's the best custom ROM, in your opinion, or course. Including baterry life x performance on your answer.

Can't comment which custom ROM is good for you as I don't have a Sprint device.
And also I run only my own made custom ROM.

Soft Bricked HK M9 - OS-3.42.708.3

*can't flash any ota update with working system.img - s-on
*can't flash RUU zip as there isn't one with my current version and can't downgrade - s-on

im not sure, the device belong to a friend, its not mine, im just trying to help out
It looks like it got "killed" by trying to set back "unlocked" and "S-OFF" to "locked" and "S-ON". Your only hope is llabtoofer's RUU service because as you already found out there is no publicly available RUU for that phone. Direct links can be found in my sticky thread in the general section or in my google sheet.
