LineageOS 14.1: How to disable app killing with 4 Back Button Taps ? - LineageOS Questions & Answers

Hello,
I installed LineageOS 14.1 to my new Oneplus 3T. Formerly, I use CM12.1 on Moto G. My biggest problem now: If I do 4 or more fast taps to back button, the active app is closed . This behavior is really annoying, when using a webbrowser or just go 4 steps back in any other app/game. Is this a LineageOS or a device specific problem? Is there a way to disable it in settings? It occurs on hard- and soft back buttons (swapped or not).
Thanks in advance

I found out, it's the 'panic detection mode' from android 7.1 and NOT lineageos specific: See https://www.xda-developers.com/andr...ode-that-detects-frantic-back-button-presses/
But I don't know how to disable it. Where can I find the config.xml from system-ui. Or do I need a modified apk? My phone is rooted.

I didn't find any way to switch off this stupid and senseless function. Normaly it's switched off, but the developers of LineageOS incomprehensibly have enabled it. If I want to home, I hit the home-button and not 4times back-button . And you can enable long-press back in developer Option to close any app.
So if this "feature" isn't configurable by user, I won't use official lineage os anymore. It's a pity . Now I'm using another unofficial custom rom for my phone!

I don't know how to disable that Nougat 4 taps Panic detection feature but what made me switch from Firefox to the stock LineageOS Browser on S3 LOS 14.1 is: while using Browser, tap on Recents button & from there kill tabs or switch to the one you where in 4 clicks ago without having to tap 4 times on the Back button.
It's so fast & cool IMO.

Disable Soft Keys?

Hi there
How do I disable the soft on screen keys?
They get in the way and take up space when gaming or sometimes watching films I want to be able to swipe down when I dont need them or for them to disappear automatically.
Im on stock, unrooted.
Thanks
Flash a rom like cm that includes support for extended desktop. That's exactly what you're looking for
Yeah Just use Cm.
Just hold the power button and press disable keys.
Works perfect! Gaming is 2x better with it gone now!

Hide Bottom Bar
Alternatively, use this.
Grr, sorry, mainly a lurker, and XDA won't let me post a link. Search for 'Hide Bottom Bar' in the play store.
Requires root, works well for me for gaming and ebooks.
Are the cm roms stable?
Yeah, they're pretty stable, even the nightlies.

Cool thanks think I'll wait for the stable though skip the nightlies

Add this line to your build.prop.
qemu.hw.mainkeys=1
It makes the phone think it has capacitive buttons and disables the nav bar.
then just use LMT Launcher to navigate though the phone.
LMT Launcher-http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1330150
I use the app full screen toggle then I use button savior to take place of the soft keys the top pic is with my soft keys still hidden look at the lower right to see an grey arrow by my l key. The second pic the soft keys are now out. Notice I still have my my status bar which u don't get with using full screen mode on roms like cm.

[Q] Note 10.1 2014 edition keys do not answer

Hi. My new Galaxy Note 10.1 2014 edition has a major problem: the Home button and back and menu buttons stop working from time to time. Same thing with the on off button that refuses to turn the tablet off. Happens randomly, whenever the pen is in or out. To turn off, I have to plug the tablet on charger, then hold the on-off button for many seconds. Rather annoying. Had the same problem with my other 10.1 2014.... that I scraped trying to change the battery. Any help will be welcome.

Hi,
Mine has the same issue. Reckon it is a factory defect.
However, I'm using Settings -> Device -> Accessibility -> Assistant menu.
With this function, found no problem to navigate around.
Or,
You can use "Pie Control (Pro)" app or "OmniSwitch" app
in order to use the softkey buttons.
Hope this is helpful for you.

YES! Thank you, it works. When I think that when the first 2014 edition had that problem, I was convinced it was a battery defect and I ordered one new. I opened the case following the instructions, but I was unlucky and I broke the connector behind the Home button. Then, trying to unbend (?) the bottom section, il really broke. I now have two spare batteries... Next time, I'll ask the specialists.

Hi
I just started this new section so if anyone discover/find any useful, .APK, links or any type of .APK or apps which is compatible and work with Honor 7 should be posted here with screenshot and links,
I find this useful app for HD wallpaper https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.wall.tumblr
Link for useful Google .APK and services http://www.apkmirror.com/apk/google-inc/
Useful APK from all Developer http://www.apkmirror.com/developers/
I find this another useful app "Screen off and Lock" so you can lock your device without hardware button just by swiping middle button in upward position: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.katecca.screenofflock
CynogerMode 12.1 Browser I tried and tested working perfect and smooth on H7 : https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B8rOpLrsAqrGU2lZWmxvUG1hZW8/view
More will be added soon....
EDIT 9th Oct 2015 Time 11:04 AM
I also find this cool HTC camera & Gallery app to work perfectly with Honor 7 , you need to install both app to work, don't use panorama as it crash the app and you need to reset the app to start it again, HTC gallery has really cool photo customization features, in HTC camera app there is a option to reduced sharpness so we can make a photo look less grainy
Direct Link for HTC Camera https://www.apkmirror.com/apk/htc-c.../htc-camera-7-30-581119-android-apk-download/
for HTC Gallary https://www.apkmirror.com/apk/htc-c...htc-gallery-9-22-569629-android-apk-download/
Can you find also the cyanogen keyboard apk? I looked for it so much but I didn't find anything...
Thank you!
Have a look here, is it the same one you were looking for

Split screen the multitasking button is dead??

I think I have identified a bug. Once I am in split screen the multitasking button seems to not work at all. Anyone else can confirm this? Can go home and bring up next app...but multitask just doesn't respond to a press.

I think that's because you are in split screen that's the nature of it

No... normally it will let you multitask to next app in the active one. Also, seems it works in gesture mode.
Here is what it looks like working in gesture mode. The button only works to disable split screen with a long press while using the nav buttons.

Works in gesture mode, but gesture mode has various issues. It's not compatible with like Nova launcher and also isn't compatible with the YouTube, Maps, and other pop up windows. Basically multitask buttons seem to be properly compatible with standard Android 9 stuff and gestures aren't always...but seems maybe the split screen is still some EMUI rather than Android version or something? Basically though some bugs here that I didn't have on Mate 9 with EMUI 8.
Ok... original issue is related to some silly nonstandard multitasking when in split window and need for the stock launcher to be default. Multitasking doesn't bring up active apps, but an app list ran by stock launcher...dumb. home doesn't disable split screen either so does almost same thing as multitasking button. Why was this all setup correct on EMUI 8 and now all jacked up on 9 with the gesture nonsense option.
Please fix this Huawei!

Question can't turn off back to home screen animation in gesture navigation mode, help

I am a new s22 user, I have turned off all animations in the developer settings, all animations are turned off except when you swipe up from the bottom in any open app to go to the home screen, the app screen does a little animation and shrinks into the app icon. it's pretty annoying. it only happens in gesture navigation mode, if you change it to the button navigation bar, pressing the home screen button at the bottom shows no animation. does anyone else experience this? I did all sorts of searches online, but the results are not consistent, it feels like it's a problem related to the android 12 rather than Samsung and many pixel phones have the same issue.
If you want traditional virtual buttons, Galaxy store>Goodlock family of apps>Navstar
One Handed Operation plus is another Good Lock app that allows dozens of swipe gestures switches from the right/left sides. Very customizable and uses almost no battery.

All stock N10+ using the above options. Edge is also active and can be used in conjunction with One Handed Operation plus.
doesn't really answer my question though, do you have s22/android 12 phone? would you be able to confirm for me even all the animations are turned off in the developer setting, the back-to-home/minimize app gesture still shows annoying animation? thanks kindly to anyone who can confirm this for me (so that I know it's a system problem rather than a problem with my phone/software)

Yes this seems to be OS level. I get the same behavior on both my S22 Ultra and Tab S7; both running Android 12. I use Microsoft Launcher on both, so it's not a OneUI (at least I don't think it is) feature. There doesn't seem to be a way to turn it off. At least not without digging in to the OS.
