Do You think that the camera in S9 will be minimum or much better than in S8? - Samsung Galaxy S9 Questions & Answers

Do You think that the camera in S9 will be minimum or much better than in S8?

Well I mean, the only details Samsung has officially released about the S9 itself is "The camera, reimagined," so uh yeah

Minimal change, with some new effect of a selfie or something like that.

I wonder if camera wise S9 (single)= Note8(double)
cause S9+(double) > Note8 (double)

It already revealed that is has super slow motion (f/1.5, 26mm, 1/2.5", 1.4 µm, Dual Pixel PDAF)

Considering I always put a custom AOSP-based ROM on my phones, I've sort of lost hope in having a decent camera. Because of... reasons... you lose out on the amazing camera capabilities if you don't run a stock ROM. It's quite depressing knowing the camera is far more-capable than what I'm getting out of it.

I can't really say, I never owned a Galaxy since the S2. Was looking to see if the S9+ ends up being better than the Mate 10, or at least drop the price of the Note 8.

Mainly just the camera. Performance-wise the Mate 10 lacks in numbers, but it still feels just as snappy.
The monochrome cameras are great, and the camera app's pro mode is really nice to take some great pictures with. I especially fell in love with the 30s exposure.

Photos yes, video recording not so much, not sure why.
Also be aware that the Mate 10 Pro does not have a 3.5mm jack or SD card slot, but 256GB internal memory instead.

How about Note8, are thie pics from Mate also better than Galaxy Note8?

Nope camera won't be good until they overcome the hardware limitation, 12 mega pixels are good, but when you see the pics on computer or zoom in then you see the blur and weakness of 12 mp camera but i know that in past 22 megapixels sonys have really bad image quality because it doesn't depend solely on increased mp, but for a real upgrade now they need to increase megapixels while still retaining same image quality, atleast 20 megapixel and still a large aperture size is the only thing that can push me to upgrade, other than that, front facing fingerprint scanner and atleast 3600+ mah battery is a must, but its still nice that they added stereo speakers, i would like to see fm radio and infrared back too. Btw both exynos 9810 and snapdragon 845 are still far behind from apple's A12 bionic chip, both in terms of processor and gpu performance. So a hard choice which to upgrade atm.

So You wouldnt upgrade to Mate 10 PRo, S9/s9+ and Apple X from S7 Edge?
How about if you have had S6EPlus ? would You upgrade then? If yes to which phone?

Some general points.
Megapixels has nothing to do with it really. It's the size of the sensor. I do have it on good authority though that at least one of the well known brands is working on a halo product with a 1" sensor. But expect it to cost the earth, if it sees the light of day, and to be much thicker than today's flagships.
Probably the P20 with its triple camera sensor (likely interpolated into single auto HDR images) and software collaboration with Leica is likely to be the best bet for photography this year. But expect to get *at best* dual camera support on custom ROMs (if OpenCamera / LineageCamera / GoogleCamera begin supporting dual configs).
S9 and S9+ will probably show quite a bit of improvement in low light, and autofocus.
I really wish Samsung would allow Samsung Camera to run on their phones that run AOSP / custom ROMs. I can see why Sony, and to some extent Huawei won't, as smaller players with niches. But Samsung are the market leader and could still attach function to hardware IDs, rather than allowing it to work on competitors' phones.
If Nokia / HMD keep improving sales, I'm pretty sure you'll see Pureview, or something similar resurrected. Protos / designs are certainly being looked at, but likely depend on them continuing to build momentum. If they have a good 2018, expect to see something from them in 2019 with 4-6+ rear camera sensors ... bit like a mini L16. But, again, expect them to lock the software to their stock ROM.

Thanks and wow for that massive knowledge. I wonder what P20 will bring to the table with their 5 cams. 27th March is the premiere. How much will it cost in Your opinion. EUR or USD please if possible and add with or without tax.

I'm almost exclusively interested in the video camera capabilities of the S9+. I can manage with a mediocre photo camera but video needs to be class-leading in smartphones.
Ability to shoot UHD video in h.265 compression + much better low light performance than Note 4 = I'd be very happy.
Sadly LG put an undersized sensor in their V30 (not to mention the sucky POLED display) - otherwise I might grab a V30 right now for a good price. I wonder what LG has in store for the V40, given their focus on video shooting prowess.

Anyone upgraded from the g4? What did you get that was better?

I wish the g5 had better battery life than the g4.... But it isn't looking like it so far.
Maybe there'll be an extended battery friend.
Still hoping for a bigger 5.5 model like the 2 paired galaxy's and iPhones
well ,right now i'm not looking to upgrade from G4 . Is still an amazing phone ,so far i had no issues and i hope it wont be (due to bootloops problem) ,currently with S/N 602.
I don't see any benefits to upgrade to g5 or s7/s7 edge. I still don't see the point on doing that ,if we are talking in terms of perfomance /camera /etc. I will be waiting Lg G6 ,maybe next year i will upgrade not sure yet .
I'll be tuning in on HTC tomorrow, as that is the most likely candidate for my upgrade. I'm out of the LG game. The G4 was a mess and I'm not fond of the G5.
I'd also like to check out a Huawei Mate 8 but that is a little hard to come by here.
In my case.... I haven't had any issues at all
mine is a h815 sn506
Would gladly keep it if I could be sure that it wouldn't boot loop
V10 is almost the price of a new s7 here otherwise I would have bought one.
The s7 edge is impressive but I really though the screen curve is gimmicky and makes the phone unnecessarily fragile.
Would get a mate 8 if it was easy to get my hands on one

I have a euro model (815) but actually from .... There is no officially licensed lg reseller or service center here.
So if I have any issues my g4 will end up being a brick most likely.
I actually depend on it for work.
I like this phone as it's like the traditional androids with the removable battery and SD.
I've also taken around 2400 photos with the main camera in that time..... As I think the product so good that my mirrorless camera stays at home most times now.
I also think that sealed batteries make devices "disposable" forcing you to inevitably upgrade and also continuing to growing e-rubbish. It's really sad to me that most consumers accept that sealed batteries are more the norm than the exception now.
No LG here in Trinidad officially but there are official Apple, and Samsung stores.
I wish the Android would just make the same phone all regions so we wouldn't have this problem with matching parts and regional warranties. I honestly don't understand why there are so many different model numbers of just the g4 alone
I've gone to the GS7. I did enjoy the G4 but the S7 feels like a massive step forward.

I wish you a device without lag ,cause i know if you buy samsung after 3-4 months of use cause of touchwiz you get lag on phone and a factory reset doesn't help at all . Anyway ,post some pictures taken with s7 i'm curious . Danke
Haven't taken many photos just yet but from what I have taken I wouldn't say they look hugely better than the G4. The amoled screen makes them look better on the device but on a computer it's much of a muchness. The speaker is pretty pointless on the S7 too but that's the price you pay for IP68. Day-to-day performance and amoled alone are worth the upgrade to me. I do miss the clip tray though.
I used to be in the same boat about Touchwiz but it's come a long way since the awful days of the Captivate or even the SII

Samsung has issued a new update that improves things a little. What firmware did this reviewer use ?
What resolution was S7 using ? 12MP or 9MP. If you want to do 16:9 then s7 is at a disadvantage. I don't know why they changed the aspect (!) The S6 was 16MP for same aspect as the G5.
The G5 has improved on details so it does not surprise me much. But i prefer to see image data than collages.
There are two advantages that will be useful to S7 users. As a convenience. Slowest shutter is 1/4 whereas on the G4 it is 1/9 with night shot.
And using a faster shutter speed with flash means you can freeze people better. Both with point & click.
To do this on the G4/G5 or even S6/Note 5 will require manual settings. Very possible just extra steps.

What is better you ask in the title ? i don't know the answer to that question other than to speculate v11. v10 was too big for me so picked the G4.
Keep your data backed up, if it happens so you won't lose much.
It takes a lot of courage to buy a phone like this when others are more available.
In India LG uses a franchise model. I had to call up several shops on their website just to find a seller that had a demo device. It took a trip into the suburbs to finally find it. Suprisingly not available in a number of big box stores unlike samsung or apple.
LG did not spend much on publicity of the G4 compared to G3. For one month when G3 came out i got LG ads on YT and was so sick of it.
I actually depend on it for work.

Fully agree with everything you said there.
In fact there is a growing trend to show that a bigger sealed battery can be as good as two replaceable batteries. S7e for instance. To make replaceable batteries obsolete. If one increases the size of the replaceble battery then there is no chance.
Sealed battery has a way to go on android. Look at the ifixit repairability table.
The G4/G5 score 8.
What does the iphone with its sealed battery get ? 7
What does the S6/S7 get ? 3 (!)
htc one ? 2 (!)
Not only are these harder to repair they are also more expensive to replace the battery so you have to lose them in two years.
It does not stop there amoled is shorter lived than LCD. Loses brightness over time. Not so with LCD.

Yeah, I'm going to need to see EXIF for that. Otherwise I call BS. I can take a few pics with my D750 and (crudely) label it "S7" and suddenly "reviews" will show the S7 as being the best camera on a phone ever. I have a G4, and under NO circumstance 100% crop looks like that (which I am assuming that is 100% crop).
Please stop the fud.
I quickly did my own "review" and I'd like you to guess which is the G4, and which is the S7e. Images attached. EDIT - Both are at high jpg quality auto mode.
Smartphone cameras these days are good, and not one is very clearly better than the other - and none of them will look pleasing at 100% crop. If you want better photo quality, invest in something not attached to a phone.:good:
Source is here and you can find a bigger discussion:
https://www.reddit.com/r/Android/comments/4dmvku/comparison_shot_of_galaxy_s7_vs_lg_g4_both_in/
Both cameras are good, s7 shoots faster (2x faster), g4 is more clear at 100 zoom.
From what I've seen, nothing really worth the upgrade from g4. We still have Motorola and oneplus to look forward to but it will be very difficult to get those devices where I live so that isn't very exciting prospect. Having said that, I just grabbed the 6p with a substantial discount and I'd consider that an upgrade. If u love xda and everything root, nothing beats a nexus and the 6p is hand down the best nexus ever made

This is still fanboy fud. You first claim a 'review' and then link to reddit? Attached are images shot using the G4 and S7e in manual mode @ ISO 50 1/6th shutter auto WB jpeg fine. The S7e isn't even close to looking as bad as this nonsense from reddit. In fact, I can't even call either shot I just did with either camera better than the other. There's a limit on how good a picture will be with such a small sensor.
Not to mention that the G4 in auto mode will never shoot at those settings- I've already demonstrated that with my previous post shooting in auto mode with the samples I attached.
I like my G4's camera a lot. The G4 definitely does a better job of auto white balance, but at 100% (and greater) NO smartphone camera will preserve that amount of detail. That is DSLR territory - with good glass and a larger sensor.
I've wasted enough of my time on this...
/on topic
Don't let the quality of a camera sensor determine what your next phone is. Almost every new flagship phone these days (since the last gen anyway) is more than adequate. Go by what you want in features, root/roms, etc.

Zenfone 6 vs OnePlus 7

I'm thinking of getting a new phone and the two most appealing to me are the Zenfone 6 and the OnePlus 7 (non Pro). In the UK they're the same price for the same specs, so I'm left to decide on other features.
The Pros I can think of for the OP7 are:
OIS Camera
OLED Screen
Some Waterproofing
In display fingerprint scanner
No moving parts so greater durability
And the Pros for the Zenfone 6:
Wide angle camera
No Notch
Headphone Jack
Customisable Button
5000mAh Battery
Micro SD Card Slot and Dual SIMs
From these lists I can't decide completely on one or the other, does anyone have any thoughts as to which one would be better?
I'm completely lost too...
I too am torn!!
I've got the Mi 9 and feeling a restless....
I would say: go for the OnePlus if you are keen on the OLED, choose the Asus if you want the rest.
(Btw: you missed the dual sim card slot the sd card slots)
I'm going with the Zenfone 6. The bigger battery and flip camera alone have me sold.

Exactly. Two idfp sensors I tried drove me crazy w inaccuracy, then u add bit dirtier hands or naturally greasy fingers and u can f*** yourself rather than unlock your phone.
That's why I'm looking into Asus Zenfone 6 or LG G8 and nothing else.
I have exactly the same dilemma...
I'm about to order it from China anyway so ... no warranty...
Kind of afraid after reading about the Zenfone here (Some people have problems with camera mechanism, some with screen on low brightness)

How is this a pro??? More like a Huge step back..
Not forgetting Asus Zenfone 6's 4k 60fps video recording for both rear and front camera! You get natural bokeh (video too) from the camera itself, not those artificial blurring!
And the EIS seems to be better when comparing to OP7 Pro's OIS, although the video seems cropped.
I will give this to OnePlus 7,
Cons:
Headphone jack and waterdrop notch(not a con for me)
Pros:
Amoled,
usb 3.1,
ufs 3.0, fantastic camera(no ultrawide though, but how much u use it?),
OxygenOs,
amazing community support (when other phones will be struggling in fixing motorized camera. Op7 will be rocking a lineage/carbon/rr/aosip/pixel exp)
Guaranteed two major os upgrades. Android Q R S or whatever,
Stereo speakers,
Last but not least Highest benchmarks in Antutu, 3dmark, geekbench.
Zenfone might be good but it will need atleast 2-3 years in order to compete with Oneplus as they are trying what OnePlus has already achieved.
Actually community support for 7 is lackluster compared to pro model.

OnePlus 8 Pro India Thread

Hey Guys, Lets use this thread for India 8pro.
I am currently using Huawei P30 pro and planning to shift to OP8P, if the camera is at par with other flagship phones.
Let the thoughts flow
- I doubt the camera will be on par with other top of the line flagships. Moreover the hype so far hasn't been on the camera - maybe it says something about its inferiority but that I'm just guessing only, for now.

Sony imx689 is one of the best sensors in mobile industry and if oppo can achieve excellent images from it then oneplus can surely oneup them becuase oneplus has always had better software algorithms compared to oppo although both have same parent company. You can find reviews of oppo find x2 pro anywhere on internet, it is basically same as oneplus 8 pro albiet some design changes and without periscopic zoom.

Came across a leak stating the price of oneplus 8 pro at 6499 yuan. That converts to 68999/- really hope it doesnt cross 60k

Well aware of those, it's just that based on the history of OnePlus @ overall camera performance and not so factual camera hype in the past, I'm curiously looking forward to the cameras than anything else, as the rest(excluding their recent trend of curves) never disappointed.

Cosidering official IP certification, wireless charging, hiked GST etc., 60K is less likely I think.

There are hyping the camera this time around. An example is here
https://twitter.com/oneplus/status/1247147094130987011?s=19
Its just that their core focus is keeping the same marketing strategy like in past and that is hyping the speed.
And yes you are right i can see them going north of 65k this time around.

Even if they hype, my eyebrows still get raised @ OP's camera, especially bcoz of terms like "intelligent pixel technology" @ 5T, 111 DxO score of 7 Pro etc.. but then, this time around I expect them to offer something unquestionably stellar with those capable sensors.
Thankfully, the speed so far has been proven as real in every iteration and as long as the "speed hype" reflects across the board I don't mind it at all.
When will these go on actual sale in India?
What are your expectations for indian pricing?
I think the price for 8 pro 12/256 GB will be around 70k. Well, we will know in a few days. For the first time, I am genuinely interested in a oneplus device (have been using Samsung Galaxy for years). Thanks to Samsung going nuts with S20 series, I might actually end up buying the top spec 8 pro! Just waiting for an in depth camera review before jumping in though. I'm totally in, if the camera results are comparable to find X2 pro, which is better than s20 ultra and at least on par with p40 pro IMO wrt to camera.

......The camera setup is very good, requires precision in the software part it seems that OP will do like last year I believe.
In comparison to the X2 Pro, the zoom will not be on par as the 8 Pro lacks the 5x periscope.

I know. I won't miss the 5x periscope zoom though, as much as the lack of a 512 GB version (since my current phone is 512 GB S10+ exynos)! Inclusion of both above options would have made the 8 pro perfect IMO.
Looking at aggressive price in China and OnePlus India's tweet, it's probably safe to expect reasonably fair pricing in India as well.
India prices revealed
128gb = 55k
256gb= 60k
Excellent pricing

I don't need that much storage in a phone, but I can completely understand many actually need it.
On the other hand, so far I've not been that happy with the cameras from a few aspects, especially looking at the chart toppers!

Finely priced, this lower than Chinese pricing might be due to the fact that consumers will get their units pretty "late" this time around unlike all these years in their extremely important market..

The pricing is very good indeed! The camera hardware (especially main and ultra wide) on the OP 8 pro is promising/flagship grade. I'm sure any existing issues/niggles can be fixed with future updates (white balance, night mode etc.) and apparently one plus is already on it as per this YouTube reviewer.

Existing niggles will be minimised through software, just like how OP did with 7Pro, not doubting on it.
However, my dis-satisfaction is based on lack of hardware elements upon which software can't do much :
- It doesn't have the Oppo Find X2/X2 Pro's faster f/1.7 aperture in the main cam.
- Front camera isn't as wide as the galaxies or a few others. Also, it has a smaller aperture in comparison to last year's OP7Pro.(f/2.5 vs f/2.0).
- The 5 MP "color filter camera" exists just for the namesake of "quad camera setup", it does depth sensing(?), but not a ToF one . To my eyes, it's for decoration, rather than any real benefit.
- Lack of periscope setup means lack of details on zoomed distant objects. Price is now in flagship territory in several regions.
Agree. I have a P30 pro and am looking to change my phone, was thinking of Oneplus 8 pro, but then it will be a downgrade in terms of camera, battery life, battery charging speed etc.
Anyone have any good suggestions which phone should i buy? (no xiaomi, vivo, oppo, mi)..

In the camera section, mainly keeping the zooming and low light performances aside, the 8 pro's overall cam performances (with consecutive updates) wouldn't be at all, an inferior one to the P30 Pro I would say.

It's easy to suggest OP8Pro as it checks the most, right number of boxes amongst the rest available in the Android side at present..

Yeah, let's wait for the detailed reviews to see the difference in camera quality between oppo and OP, although I think it will be similar for the main and ultra wide and front camera. Long range Zoom however shall be better in the oppo due to periscope 5x optical, but 2-3x will be better on the OP due to native 2-3x optical.
I agree, they should have given a periscope 5x or some useful camera/lens instead of that 5mp colour filter camera! I don't know how useful the TOF sensor is on other flagships, nevertheless it would have made more sense than the color filter imo.
Does OnePlus 8 and 8 pro have NAVIC support ?

Question First oneplus device

Hi all I’ve just ordered the oneplus 9 pro as it’s my first oneplus device can I ask a few questions
is the cameras as bad as some are making out I had the note 20 ultra and just got the iPhone 12 Pro Max (going back hate iOS lol) are the op9 cameras at least on par with these
is the display any good I mean does the 1 billion colours ect make a difference and does it get bright for hdr playback
are the speakers decent as well
last question it’s been years since rooting as I’ve mainly had Samsung devices and didn’t like tripping Knox ect, is they any problems with woofing and flashing custom roms like tripping Knox or loosing drm keys anything like that (if I flash back to stock will it be as if it was never rooted)
thanks
You run the risk of losing drm keys when unlocking bootloader, but relocking bootloader fixes it most of the time. There's no Knox, so no need to worry.
Cam is decent enough, I know there's been a lot of letdowns with Hasselblad, but if you really need good cam go get a DSLR.
Speakers are fine enough for me, I'm no audiophile, but you can use Viper4android to tune it or add real Dolby Audio with a Magisk module.
Display is good, at least coming from someone with an S10 5G lol.
Rooting is easily done as long as you don't get a TMO phone. If you still get a Tmobile phone, you must get a sim unlock before a bootloader one.

Camera is on par with the big boys, specially after the updates the main difference is the hit or miss factor is a little higher to to put it in simple terms if the iPhone takes 10 images all will be usable and 8 will be amazing the Oneplus will be 9 useable and 7 amazing. but at night its just on another league.
The display is as good as it gets on a phone.
Speakers are decent and very very usable.
Rooting and bootloader unlocking is easy, just back up your stuff and always remember the phone might brick at any moment so having a backup for everything is really important.
DRM keys are restored after a bootloader lock.

Yes, the Oneplus is better.
This should be your main phone, IF
You value custom roms and unlocked BL
You like a 120hz LTPO panel
Shelling out 900-1000 dollars (in most cases) is OK with you
Thanks for the reply’s I mainly want it to be a decent camera and a top not screen with regular updates and fixes and decent sound quality
will all the updates would you say it’s better then the iPhone 12 Pro Max camera?
is it true that the sensor in the op9 is the newest Sony sensor and it’s quite a bit bigger then the iPhone
Also does anyone notice any different between the 1 billion colours vs 16m

Its a toss up between the both in camera quality, the problem with reviews is that they have limited time with limited sceneries.
I have been using the 12 pro max and the OP9p since release, the 12 has a weird processing that has been adapted as the phone industry standard for some reason although its not the closest to real life
(Its weird how reviewers kept pushing the narrative that close to reality is best but suddenly its quite the opposite and what looks fun is best)
the portraits look warm and full of life on the 12 compared to the 9 (Weirdly enough the 8 pro had a very close portrait processing to the 12 pro max)
Skin tone is more natural on the 9 after the updates specially with darker skin subjects.
HDR is more aggressive on the 9 most of the time but it doesn't have that over processed quality to it.
A lot of people will be disappointed the second they start using the camera because of how different it looks to the iPhone but when you compare them side to side you instantly see that they are 99% identical in 90% of the scenarios (With the 9 having the higher res)
Video is still an iPhone thing although its really good on the 9
And yes it has the newest two sensors from Sony imx766 and imx789

Camera? If you work for Samsung, iphose, yes..., is bad.. ohh, the worse..
The display is the best on the market. I don't like the curved edges, but that is another story..
Oxygen is one of the best, clean Android. Samsung is champion of bloatware!
OnePlus phones are known for easy to root.
What would you guys say has the best display out of the oneplus 9 pro and the s21 ultra?
Hi all I'm looking at maybe keeping this device if its better then the s21 ultra (exynos)
Just a question I'm looking at rooting and flashing a custom rom do I need to unlock the bootloader if I'm flashing a oos built rom and custom kernel?
Also is there work arounds for banking apps,Netflix etc
And do we loose any features at all that cannot be reverted like knox in samsung devices
I never buy Samsung with exynos !!!
You can NOT root without unlocking the bootloader.
No. OnePlus is not Samsung Creap! You can revert to factory settings.

Question What is the reason you purchased the A52S 5g?

What prompted the purchase of this phone for you? I'll go first
I liked that it has a 64 mega pixel camera although it was a little disappointing there was no ability to do any zoom on pictures. The better processor was another reason and the price for what I was getting I liked. Lastly screen size is decent. So far after 5 months use, I'm still pretty satisfied. How about you?

I chose it because it was literally the perfect phone. The Samsung One UI, The display, and everything about the phone. Personally it looks very good in black. Plus for the fact that they sold it for 3500 SEK. (approximately 350EUR)
I’ve been using it for the past 4 months and I have to say this phone is very, very good.

Anyways, It is pretty good. About 6-7h with 120hz and 7-8 with 60hz.
This is for pretty light use though.
before buying it, check that the mobile phone has the following requirements :
Root
work all app i use ( app bank etc... )
Snapdragon CPU only, more powerful than what I had before
the best it offered me as value for money was a52s, the audio jack is an addition that I didn't think necessary, but I wanted a smartphone with an under-screen imprint.
the other choice was the realme gt master edition but it could not be rooted safely and therefore the only choice at the moment on the market valid for me was the a52s
I bought it because:
Security updates: Samsung will offer security updates until 2025, four years after launch, and tends to provide timely updates. For work email/calendar my phone needs to have security updates no older than three months.
Price: Got it for £220 used off eBay. Price is right.
Removable microSD card: I insist on removable storage.
Headphone port: I insist on a 3.5mm headphone port.
Better than A53: I'd have gotten the A53 instead if it had been better, but it was not better. It was worse.
Optical Image Stabilization: I actually care very little about the camera. One thing I do care about is having OIS for picture stability especially in low light.
I came from a Motorola One Vision towards the end of its security update life. I actually liked that phone better (mostly because of a stock Android One feel, and I'm not a fan of an in-screen fingerprint reader, I like rear-mounted fingerprint readers, perfect for a finger when holding the phone), but it was only a matter of time before it stopped getting security updates. And Android One is practically dead.

I agree with you about the A53, comparison on gsmarena with this phone showed me the a53 would be a step backwards. Samsung missed the mark this time... And I got my A52S from my provider for 199€ with their discount. I only have to stay a customer for 2 years but that no problem for me.

Don't understand how you can say there is no ability to do any zoom on pictures when this is not the truth ?!?!?!
With recorded pictures it's pretty easy to do zoom with Samsung Gallery (not sure this is the real name of the app) and in the Camera app you can zoom by 10x and you also have a macro option... ^^
Otherwise I got the A51 phone before but it was not compatible with 700MHz bandwidth used mostly by a single French carrier : Free Mobile and I'm changing of carriers almost every year depending on the promotion...
In France we have the lowest price for mobile or fiber internet subscriptions...

For me 2 things matter in this acquisition . Brand and price . First I was disappointed regarding some punctual things compared to other new phone I bought also (OnePlus Nord 2) but after A 12 and One UI 4.1 update , A52s was improved and now I'm some kind pleased of it . Finnaly , I'm going to sell it after a short while ...

Overall I'm amazed my S5 survived for almost 8 years 5 of which with me (and I did literally everything that could be done to it xd). She dropped it and this time the screen turned white with some small colored dots on it and the phone bootloops. It's time to let it go, was a great phone these almost 8 years

My condolences.
I own a Galaxy S4 too. Quite one of the best phones and mine died too....
I might try again to revive it in the future as the oldschool smartphone.
I was able to revive it temporalily couple years ago with a hairdryer blowing hot air on the mobo and made it work for a while and backed everything up. True story
My Poco X3's camera performance annoyed me beyond belief, so I got the A52s as the best all rounder, and didn't want to spend more money than needed.
Fortunately, my financials improved so I might just ditch it for the S23 Ultra when it's out.
