Redmi 5 Plus (Note 5) vs Redmi Note 5 Pro - What to buy? - Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 Pro Questions & Answers

Apart from the dual cameras and the new 636 SoC, what else is there to upgrade to this from a RN5?
Lacks all the Mid-Range premium features like NFC, USB-Type C etc.

Obviously the Note 5 Pro!

Well I think I am gonna wait for Moto G6 Plus. It will surely have NFC and probably USB-C too. I am using Android Pay (G5 Plus) and although I don't need it, it would be annoying to go back.

If you're going for the Redmi Note 5, then go for the 3GB/32GB variant. And if you're going for the Redmi Note 5 Pro, then go for the 4GB/64GB. Both are worth are that price

Note 5 Pro
Redmi Note 5 Pro has many features that engaged you to buy it. It has a stunning 5.99-inches full-HD+ (1080x2160) display with stunning image quality. It's dual rear camera makes it more beautiful.
Pros:
Gorgeous Display
Great Camera Quality under daylight conditions
Excellent Battery Backup
No lag while multi-tasking and gaming
Fast and Accurate Face unlock
Cons:
No fast charging

Before we begin, Xiaomi CEO of the company, Mr Lei claimed that Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 will take new package, because it makes it easier to store displays. After getting it, I feel that the package was very fresh, instead of traditional Xiaomi kraft paper box packaging with high hardness, in fact, recently we can see the package of Xiaomi products , it seems look exquisite, Now Xiaomi began to discard the old boxes.Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 box gives us the first impression not so exquisite, but it is undeniable that compared to old-style packaging, the new box is easier to open, more practical.
In the aspect of accessories, it has no headphone, after all, it is the cheap budget smartphone below $200, therefore, you have to buy the earphone by yourself. Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 accessories include the power supply adaptor, USB2.0 cable, warranty card, user manuel, card PIN, power adapter 5V 2a.
After tearing the film, you can see a new Xiaomi Redmi note 3 Silver Edition ,except for outside Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 dark gray, screen Panel of Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 silver and Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 Golden is in white and gold, which is to make the whole color scheme more appropriate.
Xiaomi Redmi note 3 is equipped with 13 million megapixel rear camera with phase focusing technique, Xiaomi introduced its fastest-focusing only takes 0.1 seconds, including HDR and 12 different styles of filters. Rear camera with Flash can produce two color temperature of light, which can create a more natural lighting effects, On the market of smartphones with this ki d of price, fewer manufacturers will adopt the dual-color Flash, this is a nice detail of this smartphone.
Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 also has a fingerprint-recognition feature, fingers tap the fingerprint area, ithe locking screen can instantly be woken . In 2015, more and more smartphone below 1,000RMB are beginning to use the fingerprint recognition, which mean fingerprinting is not the exclusive flagship handset. In fact, what is different from the traditional fingerprint recognition applications is that, Xiaomi based on fingerprint authentication creates into an open platform, if software vendors are willing to try to develop fingerprint identification module of Xiaomi, it certainly outweighs the disadvantages for Xiaomi fans, so that it will better stretch the scope of fingerprint identification.
Redmi Note 3 is paired with a 5.5-inch 1920x1080-resolution retina screen, according to official introduced, redmi Note 3 on the screen with "sun screen" technology, can automatically adjust the screen contrast of light, use the "luminous screen" technology makes the screen in the dark soft and not harsh.
Redmi Note 3 used alloy metal body with strong metallic, top and bottom position of the fuselage is due to the antenna, so it is made of engineering plastic materials. Redmi Note 3 weighs 164g respectively, 8.65 mm body thickness,to be frank, in fact, such a thickness and weight are not so thin, but 4000 mAh high capacity battery is important to let it more attractive, which improve the strong standby ability.
May, if someone asks me now which type of battery life is good from the range of 1000RMB smartphones, probably the first thought is the Huawei play 5 or Xiaomi Redmi Note 3, but in view of advantages of hardware and software, of course, i think Xiaomi is more attractive.
RedMI Note 3 is a dual SIM card dual standby mobile phone, with dual SIM card slots in the fuselage, while supporting for FDD-LTE/TDD-LTE dual-4G, very easy to use. Redmi Note 3 also supports the latest 802.11ac Wi-Fi Protocol, which uses 5GHz Wi-Fi signal.
Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 is divided into two versions:2GB 16GB fuselage Standard Edition and 3GB 32GB .
In fact, the most surprising, Xiaomi’s first all-metal body phone turned out to be a thousand Yuan-class handset, but now this kind of mobile phone market is so competitive, but we just make the wise choice about the nice products so that spend our money more wisely.
I love the premium build quality at a low price point, this should attract many buyers for Xiaomi!

Only a couple places have it up for presale yet. Geekbuying has the 16GB for $180USD and the 32gb for $210USD. GizChina's shop is a bit pricier... 16GB for $210USD and 32gb for $250USD. 1949deal lists the 16gb for $190USD, but they have it marked as out of stock. Not on Gearbest, Everbuying, TinyDeal, MeriMobiles, AllBuy, Pandawill, BangGood, Etotalk, or even AliExpress yet (that one's pretty surprising, actually).
Edit - I missed that there was already a page 2 to the thread, somebody beat me to the punch with the pics

As long as you're buying from one of the "reputable" stores, you should be fine (I'm not aware of any of the ones I mentioned above selling counterfeits, except for AliExpress but that's different as it's a marketplace of multiple sellers).

Xiaomi Mi Note 3 vs Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 pro?

Title
They're both interesting phones. I think the MiN3 has a superior processor and camera, stereo speakers, a more compact design, more premium build quality, fast charging and a USB-C port. On the other hand, the RN5P has a larger display and battery, and the SD636 is very similar to the SD660 in the MiN3. The RN5P will be more popular and will receive more attention from both Xiaomi and developers. The MiN3 hasn't received a global developer ROM, and the global stable ROM hasn't been updated.
Overall, I think the MiN3 is a more premium phone. However, the RN5P will be far more popular. For me, the RN5P is overly tall. I like my MiN3 because its dimensions are fairly small.

Xiaomi redmi note 8 pro or xiaomi mi 9 lite

Hello all !
I need some help!
I'm in need of a new phone and came to the conclusion I wanted a Xiaomi. After watching some video's I came to the conclusion I wanted the Mi CC9 (Mi 9 Lite) so I've just ordered the 64gb variant.
After doing some further research I've discovered I could've got a Redmi Note 8 Pro for only £8 more.
Do you think I should cancel my order and get the Note 8 Pro? The dust and splash resistant is something I could really do with as I hate the fear of potential water damage from rain.
Also even though the Note 8 Pro features a 4500 maH battery and the Mi 9 Lite only has a 4030 maH battery which do you think will last longer? Considering it has a bigger screen and a more demanding processor do you think that the 9 Lite battery will still be better?
I can't do you a comparison. However, I got myself a Redmi Note 8 pro just over a week ago instead of the K20 pro or the mi 9 pro. I can tell you I am pretty happy with my decision. I didn't care for the pop up camera, nor the OLED screen or in screen finger print sensor. On the 8 pro, the screen is good under most condition. The battery is way better than what I have on the iPhone 8 plus. The processor is fast, everything is snappy and the finger print sensor on the back works very well.
Hope the above helps. Good luck on your purchase.
Redmi note 8 pro is definitely a better option right now at this very moment, any other phone will be a waste of resources, i own one and totally loves it!!!!!!

Also why will any other model be a waste of resources? The Note 8 Pro has a Mediatek chip which has a bad reputation for optimisation and regular updates, as well as going crap after 2 years.
The 9 Lite has a snapdragon which from what I've heard will receive more updates

Mi 10T Pro or S20FE

I asked the same in the S20FE Forums but thought i'd ask here too.
I'm looking to replace my S10e with a larger phone. It's down to Mi10T Pro or S20FE. I will have to get the Exynos Version of the S20. It seems to be a toss up between the OLED Screen on the Samsung and the easier unlock plus Snapdragon on the Mi10T.
I don't care for cameras too much, i don't consume media on my phone, i know MIUI and OneUI and don't mind either. I've had great experience with Xiaomi and Samsung in the past. The only thing i'm a bit worried about is coming from an OLED Screen (S10e) to an IPS one might be a bit jarring when it comes to text contrast.
The xiaomi will be marginally cheaper (a few bucks).
Since i'll get it through my carrier, i can't get the regular Mi10 anymore. I debated waiting for the Mi11 but that will be quite a bit more expensive and i really don't need the increase in performance.
So what do you think? AMOLED + Exynos or IPS + Snapdragon?

Its up to u, s20 fe is really good phone too. I actually decided to go with mi 10t since fe and 10tpro are 100e more than 10t and they are not that better for that much difference, camera is 5% better and mi 10t is still capable of making some great shots. According to screen ive used 9t before and i can tell that i like IPS more and its faster refresh rate is amazing, but it doesnt have aod and super wallpapers so its one downside for me.
Mi 10T Pro is a much better phone overall, which is amazing given it's way cheaper than the S20FE. One of the best value phones hands down.
Software wise is less bloated and offers a better Android experience.
Hardware is so much better in every single area. The camera is very very good, the battery performance is stellar, the screen is top notch for an IPS LCD screen. Then Exynos vs Snapdragon, dilemma in which I prefer Snapdragon.
Now there's a few things which might be deal breakers for people:
-No IP68 (I've never had the need for this in my life, phone is unusable when swimming anyways), but if you love boating, beaches or swimming then this might be a deal for you.
-ANY AMOLED screen it's light years ahead of even the best LCD screens. It's day and night difference: the contrast, the colors, everything. Pictures with bright colors on day light they're comparable, as soon as there's an image with heavy contrast, shadows or black on it then it's VERY obvious the differences specially indoors. When web browsing or scrolling around the menus you won't notice, as soon as you open a photo or a nice wallpaper, you'll see how bad LCD screens are compared to AMOLED.
-Developer community is still dead for the Mi 10T.
I came from a Mi 9T Pro, and the AMOLED screen it's a big deal... But I really wanted the infinite lasting battery of the Mi 10T and the IR blaster. As an added bonus I found out the camera, specially video recording and low light photos is so but so much better. But once you go AMOLED is very hard to go back to LCD.
Just because of the Samsung bloatware I'd avoid them like a plague, and you'd think a Chinese manufacturer would be worse but overall Xiaomi is better than the rest, they have done a pretty good job from hardware to software. It's a solid and nice product.
And for the money of an S20 FE you're better off buying a Google Pixel 5 which is pretty good if you don't mind the "OK" battery.
Or better yet go for the Mi 10 Ultra or Mi 11 Pro which is around the corner.

Snapdragon 865 in Mi 10T Pro is 30% faster than the Exynos on S20... and also better thermal control and less throttling.
I agree the LED on 10T vs Amoled on S20 is a slight downer, however the 10T PRo is 144Hz refresh vs 120 on Samsung S20
Battery life is undoubletly better on Xiaomi compared with Samsung, and also the battery in 10T Pro is a lot larger (5000mah)
Look on eBay or FB for best prices on borh phones before you make your final decision.
(I got a 2nd hand Mi 10T PRo brand new - with genuine UK Mi 30w charger, but no retail box - for £380 on FB Marketplace )
I'm also excited about the upcoming Mi 11 range but agree with you... Mi 11 prices for next 3-6 months will be much higher than for Mi10 , even 2nd hand ones.
Either S20 FE or Mi 10T Pro will be a great device for you, but my vote goes for the Mi 10T Pro.
(P.S. go for 256GB storage option as Mi 10 devices do not support SD Card expansion).
well it's not a direct comparison , but i've upgraded from a Samsung Galaxy Note 8 , and I miss the Note 8's Amoled screen.. it's much much better that Mi 10T Pro's LCD if you factor out the smooth 144hz screen , everything else is much bettter on the Xiaomi... oh forgot about note8 is thinner at that Spen
The contrast on Mi 10T/Pro is high but not on the same level of OLED screens. Probably the best LCD I've seen on a phone.
guys i found the s20fe 5g and the mi10t in the same price wich one should i choose both of them are equiped with sd865

Question X80 pro vs P30 pro

I'm on my 3rd year with the Huawei P30 pro. By far the best phone I've owned, and the camera is holding up really well.
I have seen just about every review of the Vivo on youtube, and it seems like a strong performer compared to current flagship phones.
Have any of you upgraded from the P30 pro? While the nightmode seems to be the strong point of the Vivo, the wide angle and zoom seems average at best. How do these lenses compare to the P30 pro and do you think it's a worthwhile upgrade? I'm a bit concerned about all the reports of overheating and stuttering. The P30 pro is smooth like butter regardless what I throw at it.

P30 Pro...extraordinary phone, it keep a better zoom, but, the vivo X80 Pro wins in almost everything else
The 5x zoom is noticeably worse on the vivo? That's crazy on a flagship phone which is 3 years newer. I use the zoom quite a lot so might wait for either the x80 plus (just rumors for now) or the S23

i could say tie... the X80 pro + has been cancelled
If it's a tie I will be happy. I just read about the cancellation of the + and possibility of a X90 pro with a 1" sensor in December. Will hold off for now and hope it will be released in the UK as well.
Vivo X90 Pro+: December-bound flagship slated to crush the Galaxy S23 with its new telephoto lens, Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC and 1-inch camera sensor
Twitter leaker has confirmed key specifications of the upcoming Vivo X90 Pro+. The flagship smartphone will be launched in December with high-end cameras, a Snapdragon 8 Gen 2, Samsung E6 AMOLED screen, LPDDR5X memory and UFS 4.0 storage.

I switched with the P30 Pro and I don't regret it. Not that the P30 Pro is bad, but it needed a change. The Vivo feels snappier, the night photos are great. There are a few things that bother me, but I probably wouldn't change back.
I switch from P30 Pro also and all what i can say Vivo X80 Pro is like you have P30 Pro on steroids...Have all what P30 Pro have plue much better
I've had the Mate 40 Pro and switched to the Vivo x80 Pro.
Zoom appears to be slightly better on the Vivo, night shots and HDR is better on the Vivo and pixel binned photos(aka normal AI mode) are about the same, BUT...
The Mate 40 Pro have a hidden secret that beats all the phones in the camera department most of the time, that secret sauce called 50MP AI mode.
It takes a couple of picture with the full resolution for 3 seconds, combine them and create an almost noise free full resolution picture with amazing detail and sharpness, it easily beats the vivo full res mode(works great at night as well).
I also use the desktop mode on my P30 pro when travelling. It's genius. Heard some people say its not working on the x80 pro. Can anyone verify?
Can't get the desktop mode to work But screen mirroring is ok
To be noted that VLC supports desktop mode and will properly play videos on the external monitor/tv

Did anyone ever get it to work or its officially not working on the x80 pro? Pretty big deal if not as it's one of the advertised features that is really useful!
