When i install TWRP in my oneplus 3 and i reboot to system still stock recovery again - OnePlus 3 Questions & Answers

Step to expose what happens to me:
after brick my oneplus 3 by flash a wrong zip I got back to the stock rom, but when I try to install twrp only stays 1 time. When I reboot the system and try again to enter TWRP it appears the stock recovery of oneplus. Any idea why this happens and how to fix it?

Flash the recovery by adb. This should make it stick.

Immediately after flashing TWRP, without booting, flash SuperSu or Magisk and then boot to system.

Your question is not very clear. If you are asking how TWRP stays permanent if Magisk is flashed, I think that since Magisk modifies the boot image, it prevents the ROM from overwriting TWRP with stock recovery.

How to prevent stock recovery flashing on fresh oos nougat installation

Hello,
As the title pretty much explains, I want to know how to prevent stock recovery replacing twrp when we flash the nougat oos zip? Even when I flash twrp image in recovery after oos nougat installation, the damn thing still overwrites twrp and I need to use a laptop to flash twrp again.

To keep twrp
1.flash stock oos
2.flash twrp
3.reboot to recovery - most imp step
4.reboot to system

Did the same but unfortunatley, it booted straight into the rom rather than recovery.

That "bootloader unlocked" warning is pretty useful. When it shows up, press a volume buttton (any) and you'll get a list of options. Choose recovery there to make sure it doesn't try to go directly into system.

I can vouch for the usefulness of the warning screen. Quite accidentally I found that option while trying to install 4.0.2 and TWRP and in the process trying to avoid dm_verity. It is really useful because sometimes, despite your choosing to boot into recovery, the phone stubbornly boots into system.
i know its a old threat but i have the same problem, and tested all the steps above and still is my OP3T booting into stock recovery after i installed TWRP. do you guys maybe have a new solution for the problem ?

Another method is to flash Magisk immediately after TWRP before booting into system. Then boot into system.

Can't install TWRP

I can't get TWRP to install on my phone. I've tried manually fastbooting all three TWRP images that are available from the TWRP website. I tried installing TWRP using the Skipsoft Toolkit. Whatever I do I never get past the TWRP splash screen--no menus ever come up. Since no menus ever come up I can't install the TWRP zip or a custom ROM. I've been trying this for hours and it's driving me crazy. Is there a different procedure to boot into temporary TWRP if you are on the June bootloader? Is there another version of the TWRP image file that I'm missing? Am I supposed to let the TWRP sit there for a really long time? This is driving me completely batty.
Did you downgrade from O?
If that is the case you should flash the stock bootloader and boot.img into both slots on your device and try again

It took way too long but I installed TWRP, flashed DU, installed ElementalEx, rooted with custom Magisk for Pixel and got the phone to pass Safety Net. Everything seems to be working. However, whenever I go into recovery TWRP doesn't seem to be there. I appear to get the stock recovery which I don't understand. I can still boot into temporary TWRP and flash the TWRP zip and flash other zips on my phone but I can't seem to boot directly into TWRP. Is this normal or did I do something wrong somewhere?

If I recall correctly, after flashing any rom you have to flash twrp again before rebooting. Apparently roms flash an img to our recovery partition that looks similar to a modified CWM.

I actually did that. Maybe I was supposed to boot into the rom once, then back into recovery to flash TWRP. There are a lot of different flashing instructions for this phone. It's hard to keep it all straight.

Booting into the rom, going back into temp TWRP and flashing the TWRP zip seems to have worked --TWRP actually stuck this time and I can boot directly into it now. It's a shame Google made the Pixel XL such a headache to flash on.

Root for OxygenOS 4.1.6

Hello everyone, I am using OOS 4.1.6 on my new 3T, however I am unable to get root even though I have already tried with latest TWRP, magisk 12, and SuperSU 2.82. Nothing worked everytime I've got not rooted on root checker.
Please describe in steps what you did.

Hi,
We unclocked the bootloader, then we did flash with twrp 3.1.0 and installed SU 2.82.
After doing all this, the phone was not restarting.

Well first of all, format your whole phone over TWRP. (System too, but make sure you have the full Oxygen OS zip on a computer.)
After formating all partitions, move the full OOS zip and Magisk 12.0 on your phone. Flash the OOS zip, restart your recovery and flash Magisk after it.
That worked 100% for me all the time.
If you still need assistance with that, we can setup Teamviewer so I can guide you through this.

Same here! The phone freezes in boot animation screen. Even the animation stopped!
Guessing it's about the f2fs file system. I used to have a situation like this with Oneplus 2. My step was to format data and cache partitions back to ext4, and that worked.
Using 3t now, still not rooted. Don't want to start over after bootloader unlocking

I had the same problem and was solved with twrp 3.0.4-1 and SuperSU-v2.82.

Ok, I will try and update here then.
I'd say wipe everything possible in TWRP except for system partition, then boot the system and then eventually flash some kind of a root package - either Magisk or SuperSU. I always do it that way and it works. I am not really sure but otherwise it might have something to do with the data encryption.
Use following and you should be all set (just did it 2 days ago):
1st Flash Stock Recovery (go back to stock - https://forums.oneplus.net/threads/...-3-3t-and-go-back-completely-to-stock.456232/
Flash TWRP after you achieve STOCK OS 4.1.6.
Use this TWRP version for now (there is some issue with 3.1.1-2 i saw on forums):
twrp-3.1.1-0-oneplus3t.img
To Root just use Magisk-v13.3.zip (IMO way better than SuperSu + has MagiskHide for AndroidPay/Snapchat/SafetyNet checks):
https://forum.xda-developers.com/apps/magisk/official-magisk-v7-universal-systemless-t3473445
That is it, done!

Asus Z00A(ZE551ML) bootloops into Recovery!

Hi everyone,
I found similar threads here on the forums, but none of them solved my problem!
My Zenfone 2 (Z00A/ZEE551ML) keeps bootlooping into TWRP, the cause of this issue is when i try to flash the SuperSU v2.8 zip!
My TWRP is 3.1.1, when i flash either Lineage 14 or AOSP/XOSP it boots normally into the OS, but the moment when I install SuperSU the bootloop happens (and yes, I've tried to flash it before and after the first boot of the OS, and it didn't work for either one of these methods)! The problem is that I want to use AOSP and I need Root access, and it doesn't come Rooted out of the box, unlike Lineage. Does anyone have any ideas how to solve this?
Thanks in advance!

Apparently.... my phone refuses to install TWRP 3.0.2......
I'm doing all the steps that I'm used to.... Enable Debugging on dev. options.... adb reboot fastboot.... fastboot flash recovery "TWRP 3.0.2" and it's sucessful....
However... when i try to boot into recovery, the phone goes back to fastboot (although, i can boot it to system normally).
I tried flashing 3.1.1 back again and it worked, it went back to 3.1.1 .... so I'm back at square one.

Check the following topic and download VerifiedBootSigner-v8.zip
https://forum.xda-developers.com/an...signing-boot-images-android-verified-t3600606
Flash SuperSU and don't reboot yet.
Flash VerifiedBootSigner-v8.zip and then reboot.
Let me now if it worked. I had the same problem after installing Magisk. Resigning the bootimage fixed the problem for me.

Flash CFW, CFW custom Rom and CFW compatible recovery.
did you follow the steps in guide when installing twrp first time?
Close AVB2.0 and delete "recovery-from-boot.p" file
