MTCD unit does not start - MTCD Android Head Units General

Hello everyone, I have a PX3 unit, Android 5.1.1 and MTCD_KD_V1.82_1 MCU version. It is car-specific (Suzuki Swift 2007) with physical buttons on its faceplate.
Suddenly (without any software or hardware modification) it decided never to start again. Short pressing the power button does nothing at all. Short pressing the reset button flash the leds for a second, but nothing else happens and the screen remains black. Putting the reverse gear (I have a rear camera installed) does not activate the rear camera input too.
I have already tried disconnecting its power completely.
I tried to enter the recovery mode by keeping the power button pressed. After about 15 seconds the leds flash 3 times and then they stay on as long as I keep the power button pressed. I tried pressing the power button for 3 seconds right after the 3 led blinks, but I wasn't successful. I tried many times long press the power button for 15 seconds and a short press right after the 3 led blinks. No success. Anyone knows what is the procedure for entering the recovery mode on KD units? I also tried keeping the reset button pressed for long time, nothing happened. Right now that I am writing these lines (the last move I made was short pressing the reset button), it blinks the leds once every 1 minute exactly.
If I enter a cd in the disk tray, it loads it inside its mechanism, and it ejects it when I press the eject button. But nothing more. Screen always remains black.
Any ideas?

nobody?
does my problem seem to be on the SoM or mainboard?

anyone knows if I can't get in Recovery Mode, is this a problem of the MCU or the SoM ?

Hi mate, have a similar situation. Do you solve it?

Probably the problem occurs in the SOM.
If the LEDs are blinking, loading/unloading the DVD/CD means that the MCU works.

What did the reseller suggest when you contacted support?

Well, they suggest to make some tests. One with the reset and power button, that result doing nothing, just a buttons light blink after release. And the other is make a bridge between BATT+ and ACC on cambus female connector (without cambus connected) and try to power on, but nothing happen too.
I test voltage on terminals, harness wires, fuse.. all ok.
Was strage that after 3 days of this problem, finishing a ride, HU wake up. Day after that, dont power on anymore.
Any suggestion is welcome Marchnz. Essentially if open the chassis is needed.
Thanks in advance!

Have you tried to press buttons on the display (where they were supposed to be) in order to check if display is failed only but the unit is working?
connecting a USB with music should it open autmatically the mp3 player and so on...
I did suffere that similar situation and myunit was responsive to touch but no display.

Well, tech support of reseller determine that SOM have some problem... but guess what... they cant repair it cose my MTCD 2017 is discontinued!!! jaja oh god!
They offer me to buy a new one at half price. I live in Argentina and shipping will kill me.. so, I would need some help here open the unit and check components and soldering points.. is there some caritative soul who can help me or guide me a little?
Thanks in advance!

that looks strange for me from here =)
EDIT: ahh nevermind, i think it has circuits for a transistor or similar but may be ok, still is the soldering ok there or did it get loose?
EDIT2: what i also had, try putting pressure on the midst of the contacts of the SoM and try to turn it on, what you also can do is to apply power and put some force on the contacts from left to right to maybe find out that it turns on suddenly =)

I did it, I press everywhere looking for a bad contact, but nothing. What I suspect is about the source DC input, some capasitor, Zener, or diode.
Because the Hu history tells about first day of no power, second day no power till suddenly reacts an power on alone. Third and beyond never power on again.. so.. if SOM is melted or bad, this resurrection randomly doesn't have explanation.

Oh, do you have sd cards inserted? Remove them and give a go?

Do you think this sd cards would be a problem to power on? I dont think so..
When I connect and desconnect the power supply from the board., HU reactos power on the button leds and immediately it power off and nothing more happen.

I had similar issues, remove cards and try if it works. I couldnt believe either ...

This isn't clear. Did you actually *perform* the hard reset (by pressing R)? If not, this should be your first step.

I do not need perform the hard reset.
I do this to test the soft keys.
I've been having a similar problem, the green dial button on my phone does not work at all.
I think my problem is most likely a faulty pcb (new one on order from cnn.cn), I'll let you know if it fixes the problem.
I've tried numerous hard resets and flashes, and that did nothing to fix my problem.
But thats the least of my worries right now, my phone is plagued with the disappearing radio issue at the moment (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=304364) so its of no use at all to me.
Hopefully we can figure out how to fiix this issue, let me know if you have any success.

Actually, If they DO work to get you to the hard reset, but do NOT work when you are in the main OS, I would suggest trying a hard reset, as It seems to be a software-caused problem.

I have the same issue. I am sure it's not software- have flashed a different ROM etc, removed the battery, and other things with no result. I have a feeling it's a hw issue- the buttons suddenly came to life, but after keeping the phone in my hot&sweaty jeans pocket during a hot day, they stopped working again. I've also noticed several people complain about this issue. I will try to get it fixed on warranty. I'd be interested to know if anyone else suspects MOISTURE as a possible cause???

Hm. Perhaps not. As far as moisture goes, it COULD have such an effect, corroding contacts or if applied to the PCB, create currents where there shouldn't be any. But in any case it seems to be hardware related. I am really angry about this because I really like the phone otherwise... Now it's nearly unusable. Maybe its just the circuit board that is poorly done.
I was in Sicily last summer. Beautiful.

Wifi and USB not working

Hello:
I have a Pumpkin head unit Model S07 - MTCB-KLD2 migrated to Malaysk ROM 4.4.4, and everything was working until suddenly the internal WIFI didn't work anymore.
Decided to make a new upgrade, I have actually the Lollipop Android 5.1 Malaysk ROM for RK3188 1024x600, and I wasn't able to had the Wifi working. After reading posts in this Forum I've got the chance to put a Wifi USB dongle into one of the USB external ports, and for my surprise I've just discovered that both USB's are not working anymore, so actually I have a broken radio in actual state.
I've also noticed that the internal beep sound has changed to a new one, and furthermore whenever i try to get into the Recovery mode pressing until the three beeps come out, 2 seconds after this 3 beeps sounds a long beep, and the bootup menu doesn't show, so I couldn't try to update the firmware anymore.
Did you think that going back to the original Pumpkin firmware will solve the problem? Is the WIFI faulty, as I've read before, so common in these units, and there is not any workaround possible to fix it? What about the USB's broken how could I check it up? Anyone know if there exists any APP to check system LOG faults to try to guess the workarounds with all this faulty hardware? Exactly one year after I' ve bought the unit is starting to give the problems I mentioned before, programmmatic obsolescence?
Thanks for the hard work!!!!

As you could suppose I've read it, the problem is the USB malfunction that doesn't allow the workaround showed there.
Here there's a LogCat of the system when WIFI enabled:
paste board . co / n8j6icCLW.jpg
I've written in many forums as it's supposed to be a generelized problem with resellers as Eonon, Joying, Pumpkin (mine), and all those HuiFei type brands. Some of them tried a workaround setting the Date/Time not to be automatic and fied the Wifi, but no chance whenever USB/Wifi are both broken. The Pumpkin reseller asked to return the HA and charging for the fix of the PCB!!!, it sounds like I have to open up the HA, dismantle it and send it back to factory to fix. My unit it's actually exactly 1 year old, and I will be without radio until receivng it, wait for fix and resend it to me from China, charging me with a repair fee and the billing costs, and no radio plugged in my car!
Wifi and USB Fixed
Finally I've got the solution with the unvaluable Help from ZelenyR that helped me on the full process.
I've guessed that some internal resistance, capacitor, inductor was burnt, and tried to find following the PCB routes all over the circuit what in the hell were, tried to find a little burn in some of them and find finally that a small inductor L9 (all of them are inductors beginning with a 'L') did not showed on the multimeter as nornally should do, verified that is a component very sensible to tensions peaks produced because of over tension when connecting external USB electronics such as a mobile, or ext HDD. On ZelenyR's words: "The problem is inductance which you need. I used 220nH for 3.5Amp main parameter was max current over 3Amps to be sure that it will not burn again. Easiest way is just simply short this component but I don´t recommend it because it is not safe and can go to bigger damage in case of overloading USB and also it is necessary to block supply noise going to WiFi ."
Thanks to him I'm actually repaired my init luckily!!! and saved 100€ and 3 months without the unit.

Chips ? Youre not talking about chips youre talking about an inducter. I can see the legends but nothing near them to show what the legend is referring to. And besides, the quote in your post says its "L9" not "L19" as you say.
Can you mark on the picture where ? I am not thinking of me, but or anyone who reads this to be able to see for reference should it happen to someone else.
Same thing happened to mine. My wifi and both usb doesn't work anymore after 8 months of use. 11-RQ0369E-US part number. I wonder if the board is the same as mine. Neither, the MCU is separate from the ROM, I suggestd you try updating the MCU not the ROM, updating your ROM will likely not help your problem.
Try the MCUs attached, the later one first, if you get any problems try the earlier one.

The wifi remains grey out in the on position, then it goes back to being off again. Before when it wasn't broken, I could turn it on and it would search for wifi but not anymore. For the USB, I can no longer use it at all. I was reading the circuit board share the same circuit so it wouldn't surprise me if it needs one because both the wifi and usb failed and stopped at the same time while driving.

Galaxy Tab S - Only reboots if I HOLD POWER Button. Once I let go it powers off.

So I'm trying to fix my mom-in-laws tablet - at first it was stuck at a reboot loop.
But once I managed to switch it off and charge to 100% it stopped looping, but only goes to the logo screen then switches off.
I experimented a little - and found out if I hold the power button, it will load to the home screen.
Now I tried doing a factory reset by holding power+volume down + home button > it reaches the reboot menu but I can't make a selection because once I release the power button it switches off.
Wondering if there's anything I can do? I'd rather not buy spare parts and open up the tablet - and I'd also rather not bring it to a shop..
Any help would be appreciated!

But at the end, if you have freaking shutdowns, I decided to replace a battery by a power source, and then came out with the Idea of bypassing the over current circuit in the battery. Just a multimeter and a soldering iron and that's it!

1.if I enter force restore mode and after taking my finger off the power button it shuts down.
if I have my finger on the power button and use the arrow button in this menu, it moves up - down.
2.if I turn on the tablet, the logo appears and after 3 seconds it restarts and keeps restarting.
3.if I enter the software installation mode, it successfully completes this process and if finished it restarts and returns to problem 2.

I don't believe your problem is with the battery. The random reboots because of the battery only occurs when the battery is not full. If you have a charged battery and the USB Power cable connected, it should not have random reboots.

I charged the tablet up to 100% and it does the same thing, it restarts after a few seconds! do you think this problem could be from the motherboard or do you have another idea?

I did this and after restart it does the same thing (reboots) .

Galaxy a50 data recovery.

Hey, so i broke my phone, because it fell from a high place, and it broke the display completely. The mainboard is okay.
I really need a way to acces my data. luckily i have twrp installed, and i am able to reboot it there, and the touchscreen appears to be working.
I have to blindly touch the screen to enable MTP in the twrp. i have the older twrp, where you have to manually enable it, but dont know where is it. Can someone guide me?
Assuming that touch still works try entering recovery mode , then connect it to a pc and then try to do the swipe to unlock in twrp
It should be about .5 to 1 inch from bottom to top , maybe even closer to the bottom of it worked and twrp is unlocked you should see the phone being dectected , then try get to touch mount , it should be a little more up and to the left than the swipe to unlock , then on the bottom right corner you should have the option to monut . Attached a picture I found that may help locating the buttons

You could also try a usb hub and connecr your phone to a hdmi display + mouse and keyboard , but those can cost 25 USD and upward , good luck!
Edit:typo
Sadly, it does not show up in my computer. But i know i did enable mtp, because twrp freezes for a sec or two when i enable it. The usb datalines might be damaged, as i see it, because with the official charger, my usb diagnostic thing reads 5.13 volts, with 0,21 amps. RIP i guess, or i dont know what to do other than pay someone to fix it.
I tried ADB sideload too, but it didnt work either.
Guess i have to buy a new phone, or pay half of the original price to get it fixed, wich is not something that worth it.
I think im gonna buy a new phone, and let this puppy rest for a while, then i'll buy a cheap LCD screen for it, then repair the screen myself.
Edit: the phone is a little warm, if charged. hope nothing is wrong with the battery. It seems to be bootlooping, but when the system startup finishes, i could hear facebook's notif sound, so data is probably fine, i'm just unable to get it out from there.
Assuming if there's any problem with the USB port, i wont try the hdmi, mouse, keyboard method.

Can you boot system if so put the latest smart switch on you PC an backup your data .
if you have twrp .. then you don't have to worry .. just press and hold volume down and power button for 6-7 seconds .. when the phone vibrates release the volume down button only and press and hold volume up .. (don't release the power button yet) wait 2 seconds and then release the power button.. so now you're only pressing the volume up ... press hold it for 7-8 seconds... your phone will get into twrp ..
connect your phone to your pc.. and voila your internal storage is on your pc..
p.s- don't forget to install Samsung drivers before you do this...
p.s - it's too late for this solution thou but if you're still searching for solution... this will help and only works if twrp is already there.

Question Flashed wrong firmware by mistake and now wont go into bootloader or fastboot

Downloaded a link from this article on XDA https://www.xda-developers.com/pixel-6-november-update-fingerprint-bug-fixed/
but didn't realise they had posted the wrong link and instead used the link for pixel 5a. Phone will connect and disconnect whenever i press power button or either volume buttons. Tried the usual force restart and bootloader button but still black screen and laptop not recognising phone except showing as USB serial device briefly when it does connect

I was messing around with my 6 Pro and ended up in recovery mode. None of the normal button combos were wrorking.
I ended up holding the power button / vol down for nearly 30 seconds and it rebooted back to the fastboot/bootloader mode.
Not sure if this will help you but the usual shorter time needed to boot wasn't working for me, but holding for 30 seconds did.
Good luck!
You could always try Official Google Pixel Update and Software Repair or Official Google Android Flash Tool.
Also, always go directly to the source Pixel 6 Pro Factory Images, don't trust anyone else's links.
didn't work but i can see it connecting and disconnecting constantly. did you have the device show up as USB serial device. Also what kind of cable did use (usbc to usbc?)

You might want to "Reply" or "Quote" the person you're responding to, so they get a notification that they're tagged and know that you have a question for them. I assume you're responding to @Az Biker.
When you have it plugged into your computer, do you see it in Device Manager? USB-C <-> USB-C or USB-A <-> USB-C shouldn't matter, as long as it's the original or a quality cable (Anker or from a previous PIxel or other quality OEM cable).
You can attach a screenshot of your Device Manager if you're not sure what you're looking for.

No sweat! And it doesn't have an exclamation point through it's icon in Device Manager, right? (which would mean you need to install the latest Google USB Driver).

Are you able to shut the phone off? If so, shut it off, wait 10 minutes, then try it again.
Follow Google's instructions exactly on the Official Google Pixel Update and Software Repair or Official Google Android Flash Tool web page.
Try another USB port.
Try another USB cable.
If a desktop PC, try one on the back instead of the front - although I think this has been making less and less of a difference in recent years.
Try rebooting the PC/laptop.
Have a spare PC/laptop to try fresh?

Try just power button for 30-45 seconds.
Long shot idea here.
Plug the phone into the charger, see if you get a charging symbol (indicating it is off).
If no charging symbol, should indicate device is still on, allow battery to run out. After a day or two, start plugging in the device momentarily to see if charging animation comes up.
Maybe after shutting down/running out of battery, you can recharge and get into bootloader?
Like I said, long shot idea..
Best of luck!

I agree. I have definitely had to do something similar, I believe with my LG G3 once or twice. Had to turn it off or let it die, then leave it alone for a while. Sounds crazy, but whatever works...

When they switched to non-removable batteries and you had to let it die instead of simply pulling the battery
Good times

Thanks will try this. I have spoken to google to get a replacement but hopefully i can get this current one working again
This isn't the kind of mis-flash I'd expect a phone to survive. Pixels tend to accept whatever firmware you throw at them with practically zero version or compatibility checks. In your case, going from a Qualcomm to a Samsung bootloader is likely fatal.
I'm surprised it even shows a device. Maybe a rescue path, but I wouldn't even know where to begin with drivers if generics aren't good enough. If you aren't getting a "fastboot devices" response, that's game over. How did you flash this in the first place? How far did it get?
just a heads up, that link under pixel 6 pro Global is still incorrect and is pointing to pixel 5a

wasn't familiar with the p6 pro codename so when i used the link under the XDA article i guess i didn't pay attention to the name of the file. Lesson learnt
Reported it and it's fixed now.
@muzab a
Kindly share the hardware ID of the USB Serial Device.
Since the Pixel 6 family's Google Tensor silicon is somewhat based on the Exynos chipset, it could be possible to use the Exynos hard brick recovery method to revive the device (context: 1, 2).
If possible, initiate the replacement process. But discovering a community-supported method for unbricking these devices would be great. For your information, we never got our hands on the low-level firmware packages for the older Pixels with Snapdragon family of SoCs.
