Are there no S9/S9+ bundles being offered? - Samsung Galaxy S9 Questions & Answers

One of the great things that happened with my S8, aside from the phone itself, was the bundle being offered at the time. VR headset + 256gb memory card and bluetooth wireless AKG (?) headphones for $100. Is nothing like that being offered this time?

it looks Samsung is 150% confident they will smash it this year with s9 range - no sway gifts offered - hahaha - for me they'd need to offer a Tesla X model complimentary with the phone - to buy it

AKG headphones bundles still there. Depends on the country I guess.

I'm just waiting for the BOGO like they had last year.

nothing bundled here they are offering extra money for old phone or cash back on hdfc cards.

Yeah I remember when early adopters used to get stuff like chargers and sd cards, Gear, etc, but looks like that is done.

i just got a standing cover, not bad

Depending on the country/store i guess. Bought mine with screen insurance, Harman kardon onyx 3 and an instore gift card for about 60 dollars. Total cost for the phone+insurance+onyx 3 after one year is about 1000 dollars.

I got it from my carrier - Orange (Romania). It came in a bundle with a Samsung BT speaker called Scoop. I also received a 50 euro voucher for accessories and 1 year of premium insurance.

In Canada we are told we get it as early as the 17th, the free gearVR comes 2-6 weeks after that.
In the UK we get a free Samsung speaker! Would much prefer the vr headset. Plugging into my marantz amp and Bose speakers ain't hard!

Think i'll try and sell my free speaker on and get the fast charge pad, would rather have that
Although with Amazon already selling the speaker for 50 quid i won't hold my breath........anyone wanna swap a speaker for wireless charging pad?
We got ours even earlier

In Slovakia and Czech Republic nothing .... we will get mobile phone 8 days sooner. What a perfect gift. Wrrr.

Yes CPW. Also seems to be a free speaker from most other networks/shops
if I read the samsung website right, we get the VR headset here + for $99 gets you the AKG bluetooth headphones and 256gb microsd card. Seems like a good deal for $99 and if true I'll be jumping on that.

Yes, bought from Samsung UK direct pre-order and recieved a crappy bag and a cloth case (please tell me what's it for).
Cheesed off that others recieved useful gifts. I think if you pay via PayPal monthly you received free insurance.

Korea v30

Hi
I know a few folks here ordered their v30s from S Korea, could you guys share some links for me to order? I heard the Korea version comes with B&O headphones as well?
Thanks
I ordered mine on amazon.co.jp (from korean SK Telecom), but I suppose it will ship only to Japan. And yes, it had B&O headphones in the box.
Also I tested display phones here in korea and haven't come across with screen issues yet.

It's the cheapest option out-there. Where you from? Consider the fact that you will also have to pay VAT when clearing customs in your country + import duty tax, unless your country does not apply it. Import duty tax in most countries is applied by the same principle - if there's a phone producing company in your country import tax is added, so to protect the local producer.

Got mine from Korea through EBay. Got the plus, came with b&o. Honestly, it's pretty good considering it's a bundled pair, but beyond that I don't think it's anything to write home about. They're rather bulky and uncomfortable for me (could be because I've been using klipsch x12s which are abnormally small and light) and the sound feels..hollow. At least that's the best I can describe it. If I didn't have a decent pair of earphones I would want them bundled but if not, I don't think I'd give it too much thought.

Np. I actually cancelled my first order of V30 from South Korea -> http://www.ebay.com/itm/LG-V30-64GB...e=STRK:MEBIDX:IT&_trksid=p2057872.m2748.l2649 (refund was very smooth and fast - it took 1 day), since I would not be able to cope with the fact that device, which considering all shipping costs, VAT/customs duties, would end up costing me 1000 USD, would feel cheap in hand. I will wait for it to become freely available locally and buy it then for ~600-700 USD.. BTW, LG has the craziest price drops -> LG G6 when first became available locally in April, 2017 and it was going for 800-900 EUR . Today I can buy new LG G6 for 370 EUR. Crazy!
The more read the more I feel that although its awesome it does not actually hold up to that hefty price tag.
Pros are more or less known but from the cons I see the following:
- banding/color issues <- rather rare issue, but its still out-there;
- camera is nowhere near perfect <-issues with OIS, image stab., selfie cam is crap, low light is ****;
- plastic/cheap feel <-phone above 600-700 USD needs premium feel. Just look what OP did with their OP5 @just 500 USD. It feels awesome build wise!

Last question! What would the updates situation look like? Do Korea phones get updates out of Korea?
When my N5 broke, LG gave me an AT&T G5 (h820) as replacement, and since I don't live in the US, I haven't received a single update in the last year or so.
Edit: Btw, Wonda Mobile assured me that the phone would get updates.

Well, comparing the sound quality to my Sennheiser IE80 (5 of 5) and Sennheiser CX880 (4 of 5) earphones, the B&O ones are somewhat 3 of 5.
Also, I didn't like B&O ergonomics either, I was barely able to fit the bits into my ears (the earphone part is too short) and the control block is attached to the left wire is too close to the earphone, difficult to see and press buttons. I would buy something else.

Don't get me wrong, I almost bought the OP5. it is a great phone for what it is.. My worry with the V30 is that its availability is sketchy and LG are not letting people know when it will be available in various markets. I'm in Australia, and even the LG reps have no clue when its dropping... Its becoming a unicorn phone. So much so I'll probably have to buy one from Korea to enjoy it
Wondamobile
Ordered mine from Wondamobile. Arrived to Uk in 3 Days with B&O earphones. I have used these people a few times and the service is excellent and they are always at a good price.

Its same **** here in Europe/Latvia. LG hasn't given any, even ~release date, so I almost bought it from South Korea .
My order of V30 through ebay from South Korea was actually a misclick while I was browsing through ebay on my OP5 . Misclick happened on October 7 and thankfully SK had holidays until October 11, so my order was not processed/ shipped out so the support allowed my to cancel and get full refund although that particular seller (gn_australia) does not offer refunds explicitly (just exchange or ebay money guarantee in case the product does not meet the description). I want that v30, but in a reasonable way - eu retail price, local guarantee and no extra costs like VAT and customs duties while shipping from abroad..

Hi whats the situation on bootloader unlock/root for the Korean devices? Are they as locked down as the US carrier versions?

Pre-order includes Samsung Buds+?

There have been some discussions during the last week of Jan regarding a bundle of S20 + buds+ for free if you Pre-order.
I'm on Tmobile US and did not see any mentioning of that, nothing was mentioned also during the announcement.
Does anyone have any details on that?
Thanks.

It does and it doesn't! Pre-order on Samsung.com and you get a $200 samsung shop credit, which you can use for the buds+.
I'm on the tmobile Jump program so I was planning to upgrade through them.
Last year I did the same for my S10+. They ran similar promotion and I got my Buds..
Just hoping that tmobile will do the same though no info from there on that.
amazon rulz
hi everyone,
pre-ordered my S20 Ultra Silver Grey on Amazon and l got the confirnation that after i will receive them, i will also get the Buds+ from Samsung. super!
Pre-ordered a S20 Ultra 5G yesterday on Italian Samsung website and, yes, there is the free buds+ promotion. Yeah!!!!
For the S10 you bought the phone then submitted a receipt to Samsung. They give you a credit for the price of the buds, but you could spend it on other things if you wanted.

I think there was a form I had to fill up with Samsung... But whatever that is, I hope I will eventually get the Buds+ for free if I get my phone through Tmobile.
I get the buds plus for free as well , just as well with the 1500 spent on the 512gb version , only a pain not getting mine until march 12 ( holland) and not on the 6th like everyone else.went for the grey version as i have not yet had a grey phone before. The option for the free buds was in the ordering options on samsungs website.
pre ordered from UK Vodafone not sure how you submit proof of purchase for the buds+ offer when you buy through their call centre?
anyone have experience in this with previous deals with UK Vodafone?
So in the US, we get a $200 credit, no free buds. I was hoping for the free bauds, and the credit. Oh well.
Doesn't the freebie depend on if you buy from the carrier or from samsung? I know it has differed in the past. Hoping for the credit though so I can get the buds and a case

In the us, only the $200 credit is available.
It comes with a $200 credit, and have the option to spend or use it during the pre order. I used it to buy the Galaxy Watch 2, added $49 only.
It depends on the region. US and Korea get a credit and for example Europe gets the Buds+.
T-Mobile just reminded me you get the credit when you sign in and register with your new phone on Shop Samsung. It'll be the $200 credit.
Just preordered the Ultra. Used $200 credit for the free AKG Noise Canceling cans instead (I already have way too many true wireless earbuds, but didn't have any NC anything, so that made up my mind).
You have to go on the Samsung shop app once you get your phone if you ordered outside of Samsung.com or Samsung shop and enter your imei and upload your receipt from your carrier. Then you will get $200 in like 2-6 weeks. I actually got $235 because I registered when they first sent emails out about pre-orders.
I got an email this morning saying pre orders were ready. When I clicked the link within the email, I followed through with the order and was able to get the $235 instant credit since the email was tied to my reservation. Was able to order myself the new Galaxy Buds+, the 45 watt fast wall charger, and black silicon case. Not a bad deal at all especially with me getting $600 off for my S10+. Said delivery by March 4th, less then 2 weeks away ???

General Galaxy Fold 3 UK Owners Thread

Thread for UK Owners.
Looking for the best deal currently myself.
I can see Vodafone have a sliding scale scheme; the more you pay up front the less you pay per month.
£469 up front for the phone then £65 a month for 25gb
I decided to buy from the Samsung Web site. Got £100 voucher from Sammy and trade in Tab S6 and further saving by using Samsung Pay. Also free starter kit worth £79. Good deal all round.
I see mention of a 16gb, is this being sold in the UK?

I haven't preordered a Samsung device since the s6. I just moved to the UK from America so I am intrigued. However since all Samsung folds are Snapdragon it may not be root friendly.
I also got a decent trade in (450) for the iPhone 11 I previously used in the US. So definitely 27/8 cannot come fast enough

The international version should still be root friendly (well as friendly as Samsung phones are) Samsung can't change the rules just because different cpu
I always buy my device using the Samsung upgrade program, and get a sim separately
Currently using a Vodafone esim with unlimited data for £29/month. I usually use a minimum of 600Gb/month, and as much as 2Tb.
Ordered the 512gb Fold3 and watch4 classic, looking forward to it!
Pre-ordered on 3 unlimited everything - first 6 months are 55 then up to 110 - will be shedding the wife's N10 towards future contract costs to reduce further.
Hoping to get a rom together reasonably quickly (depending on how many spanners Sammy have thrown in the works and differences from N20U)

I have been developing on the Tab S6 for over a year now and that's snapdragon
The main difference to Exynos i have noticed is lack of modifiable upparam on SD devices (to get rid of annoying red text when rooted)
Just noticed the free Starter Kit is availability until 31 December! This means you do get a S Pen included, in reality.
I did the rounds with a spreadsheet and figured out buying the phone from samsung.com with a vodafone contract was best. They had a deal for £59/mo plus £380 up front, unlimited calls, texts and 100GB 5G data. Total £1796. Nearly £200 cheaper than buying the phone outright and sticking on my £16.21/mo three contract. Going directly through carriers and looking at 100GB+ data was no competition either, vodafone and o2 about £2.2k, Three £2.3k, EE £2.5k etc.
I don't know if that works with tradeins, vouchers etc. so it might be possible to go cheaper.
I got mine from very, got 10% off when making first credit account purchase when using: welcome as discount code I believe…
Ended up paying 1490 down from the 1599.

Does the UK Version have dual and eSIM or is it single sim and eSIM disabled like the US version ?

Question PSA if you preorder a Pixel, be sure to order the headphones too

If you buy a Pixel (at least the pro version, not sure about the regular one), they give you $100 off $100 for the pixel headphones. So, you get free headphones. Hope this helps someone.

Also, if you're going to trade in a pixel 3 or newer (and you prefer not to use Swappa) trade-in values are similar to a Swappa device in good condition.
Trade-in MUST be done DURING the purchase, and there IS a deadline for the Pixel buds and the trade-in allowance.

Via a manual claim process you have to submit between 14 and 45 days post order. So that is also slightly different to the US.
I literally canceled my pre-order last night so I could reorder with the headphones. Still waiting this morning for the 512gb to become available again, but this time I put the headphones in my cart before hand just to make sure I didn't miss them.
I had to wait for the pending charge on the google financing to clear as well.. That was nerve wracking, but luckly it cleared overnight.
Would have preferred the new stand for free, even if I had to wait.
