Stock firmware J730GMUBU3ARB1 SM-J730GM/DS 08.03.2018 - Samsung Galaxy J7 (2017) ROMs, Kernels, Recoveries

I would like to share with you the latest original 4 files firmware J730GMUBU3ARB1 security pach 1 february 2018.
1. download the firmware J730GMUBU3ARB1 - Galaxy J7 Pro SM-J730GM PEO Peru from https://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/galaxy-j7-pro/SM-J730GM/PEO/download/J730GMUBU3ARB1/209612/
2.enter the phone in download mode and with odin place the AP, BL, CP and CSC
3. make the original setup in order to enter on developer options ( by pressing 7 times Build Number in Settings/About phone/Build Number) to activate OEM unlock and USB debugging
4. open ODIN Odin3_v3.12.10 and on the AP place twrp_3.1.1-1_j730gm_25817 from our friend ashyx[ https://forum.xda-developers.com/ga...nt/twrp-3-1-1-1-j7-pro-sm-j730f-g-gm-t3662621
Flash with odin in the AP slot.
Put your device in DOWNLOAD mode.
Uncheck Auto reboot.
Load the respective file below into the AP slot and hit start.
After flashing and ODIN reports PASS immediately reboot to recovery by holding POWER + HOME + VOL DOWN.
As soon as the screen goes blank change to VOL UP whilst still holding POWER + HOME.
You should now see TWRP recovery.
FAILURE TO FOLLOW THE ABOVE STEPS WILL RESULT IN TWRP BEING REPLACED BY STOCK RECOVERY
5. Format Data partition using FORMAT DATA button under Wipe options.
(Note: This will wipe the internal storage) ...FORMAT DATA... type YES , in order to delete the encryption on your internal memory
WIPE CACHE AND DALVICK
The next step is not necessary as i noticed that patching the boot image no-verity-no-encrypt_ashyx will cause a long delay in screen unlock , and if you don't flash this it will not affect the encryption of your phone as long as you did the formatting .
So i will not recommend to do this step 6
----6.install Boot image patch from ashyx no-verity-no-encrypt_ashyx https://forum.xda-developers.com/ga...nt/twrp-3-1-1-1-j7-pro-sm-j730f-g-gm-t3662621
WIPE CACHE AND DALVICK ----
Try skipping step 6 and go straight to step 7
7.install Magisk v16 the latest one
WIPE CACHE AND DALVICK
8.install SM-J730GM- 07.03.2018 the script to remove most of the bloatware
the script was modified by me on this firmware to make a very fast and no bug phone. If you want to keep some of the apk which i deleted with this script you can modify the script only with note++ (npp.7.5.4.Installer) by deleting the entire row of the apk
WIPE CACHE AND DALVICK
9.mount system and internal storage
10. you can copy the file others.xml from your sd card to system/csc
this others.xml was modified from the original one from this firmware to have more options like
air message,
ultra data saving ,
recording call button
EnableSmsCallbackNumber
DisableSmsToMmsConversion
EnablePromptToExit for samsung internet beta
and few more which you can see it opening this file with notepad
12. reboot the phone and make the setup
ENJOY
P.S. was made for my phone in order to have a very light and bugles firmware for my daily use , you can try and use it on your own risk .
I AM NOT RESPONSIBLE IF YOU BRICK YOUR PHONE, USE IT ON YOUR OWN RISK ...
THANK YOU ashyx
PS. I WILL NOT HAVE TIME TO ANSWER TO YOUR QUESTIONS FOR SOME TIME BECAUSE SUNDAY I AM GOING TO WORK ON THE RIVER CRUISE AND THE INTERNET IS NOT MY BEST FRIEND THERE.
HOPE YOU WILL ENJOY MY STOCK ROM AND WISH YOU ALL THE BEST...

The script and other.xml is working on all the samsung phones with nougat as long as they have the same app in system .
I use the script for tab SM-T585... SM-J730GM .... SM-J710FN ...
Just try and you can modify as you wish deleting the entire row of the application which you want to keep .

As far as i know it is better to try to download from sammobile the firmware for your phone ... the diference between G and GM is the dual sim .
And don't forget to change in the others.xml the code for your firmware ... as this is modifyed for CHO region

Seems the no verity patch is what causes lockscreen lag?, I've tried both magick and supersu methods both methods still cause problems. when/if the finger print scanner can read mine, it unlocks instantly,
but by pin or other methods can take up to 10 seconds to unlock. any way to fix this?
I have the SM-J730GM/DS j7y17lte

Try without no-verity-no-encrypt_ashyx and you will see the difference
I edited also the steps on my thread . Thank you and hope you will see the difference without that patch

Firmware upgrade for dummies (from P1000XXJID to P1000XXJK5)

This is my guide for dummies:
INTRODUCTION: I'm an italian user with a standard Samsung Galaxy Tab purchased via Vodafone. I would like to upgade my firmware from P1000XXJID to P1000XXJK5. I search in XDA and in samfirmware and this is the sequence of my upgrade.
1. You need some software.
a. KIES software (from www.samsungmobile.com): download and install
b. P1000XXJK5.rar (from www.samfirmware.com): download and unzip (use WinRar and password is "samfirmware.com")
c. NEW Odin: DOWNLOAD Version 1.7 (from www.samfirmware.com)
2. unzip New Odin 1.7 and run "Odin3 v1.7.exe"
3. Press the [PIT] button and select the "P1_20100909.pit" file
4. Press the [PDA] button and select the "P1000OXAJK5.tar" (which was in the 'P1000XXJK5.rar' file - see 1.b.)
5. Put a cross-chek on 'Auto Reboot' and 'F. Reset Time' (NOT on 'Re.Partition')
6. Now we are ready to flash our Galaxy Tab:
a. power off the device
b. extract SIM and SD card (if you have one)
c. power on the device pushing 'Volume down' + 'Home' + 'Power button'
d. the device will start in dowloading mode (yellow triangle)
7. Connect your usb cable (if you have correctly installed the KIES software, drivers are ok and device is recognized by the PC)
8. In Odin you must see on the left "0:[COM3]" (yellow background), or something like that
9. Press [START] and wait till has finished (4 minutes); Odin will reset the device itself.
10. After boot check if all is ok using *#1234# code
PS: I have found all my apps, no backup/restore needed ! But this is my case...

No problem, theres two ways to fix this:
1: Flash the full JJ4 firmware with the P1_20100909 file and check partition
Then let it reboot, and flash JK5 after that without the .pit and partitioning on..
2: just flash the dbdata.tar from the end of this post:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=9305891&postcount=1
I'd do option #1, I think you need to have JJ4, coming from your older version (pre-JJ4)
This is also for anyone flashing a non-European Tab:
so steps:
3.1 Press the [PDA] button and select the "P1000XWJJ4.tar"
3.2 Put a cross-check on 'Partition', 'Auto Reboot' and 'F. Reset Time'
3.3 Do steps 6-9
.

Hi, in my european Tab I notice a little better 'scroll speed' between home screens (horizontally scroll). It's the only advantage, IMHO (In My Humble Opinion).
Please remember that for 'usa TAB' you have different firmware; consult www.samfirmware.com
I ran the update on my tab from the UK, specs beforehand were:
PDA XWJJ3
Phone XXJID
CSC CPWJJ3

After flashing directly to JK5 it rebooted happily although it basically did a factory reset (formatted the internal SD card - which is a pain as that's where Titanium Backup put its backups)
Firmware specs now are:
PDA XXJK5
Phone XXJK5
CSC XAJK5

It does look like there's a number of missing applications, so I'm going to get the full JJ4 package and flash that and then put JK5 over the top of it.
So while it works and does feel a bit snappier, it's not what I'd call a huge success going straight from JJ3 to JK5 I'll get there though.
EDIT: Before I did the flashing, I did a factory reset and the "missing" apps popped up, so while it looks like it's not entirely happy going from JJ3 to JK5, it does appear to work ok.
I'm still going to put JJ4 on there just for the heck of it and then reflash to JK5.
Looks like JJ4 defaults to Russian:
PDA: XWJJ4
Phone: XXJID
CSC: SERJJ2

Final Edit:
Nope, no noticable difference having gone from JJ3 to JK5 or JJ4 to JK5, other than having to manually do a factory reset to get everything behaving after having gone from JJ3 to JK5.
Fair warning, I may have done something wrong, but if not, it WIPES your internal user storage when you do the update!
Still, happily on JK5 now, not a big deal to re-transfer my stuff over.
Thank for this thread.
But why would someone not choose to upgrade firmware when Samsung releases it via KIES?

Because Samsung have a history of not releasing official updates.
Plus, we want new stuff NOW
Big thx to you rotohammmmmmmer ...
I suggest to do also the following after the first boot: *#272*your imei# (dial all your imei digits!),then select your original Sales code,in my case for Italy Itv.This allow you to have all the Samsung Apps of your country.
Also the problem with the missing data at boot is because JK5 isn't a full flash.you can also flash the JJ4 with repartition and then JK5 without.
For newbies: Make a Titanium Backup before the 272 code!! (thanks to brunino1967 to remind me, I forgot to mention )

You can change where Titanium sticks it's backups by going to
Preferences/Backup folder name
and change it to
/external_sd/TitaniumBackup
Or if you've got the full version you could have sync'd your backup to Dropbox.
I also have JJ3. I think I will follow the suggestion to install JJ4 first with the repartition and then JK5. If I backup all my system data and apps to the external SD card (or Dropbox) using Titanium Backup, is it OK to restore the system data as well after the upgrade or might there be some conflict with the new version? TBH I don't realy know what the system data is so may you will tell me I only need to restore the apps.
TIA

Advice for all newbies: please be carefull with this code *#272... etc etc.
because if you apply it, you will have a wiped SGT and it will go back at factory status (I mean that the default apps will be there but no one of your already downloaded apps will be there !). You will have your home screen reset to default too. If you have the fortune, like it has been for me, to see your SGT (after the firmware update) restart as it was before (with all your apps, etc.) don't use this code.
Obviously if your installation is not complete and you wish to have all default/factory installed apps, use this code.
sooooo say u do this and it reboots but gets stuck at the samsung logo and vibrates every few seconds. what does that mean?.....and how do u fix it? i really hope i dont gotta reflash and repartition...if so.....FAAWWKKK!

Guys, who is doing a flash needs to make backups!!! Use titanium before flashing or apply 272 code and so on. If for example you are flashing with re-partition you will lose not just the apps but also the entire content of your internal sdcard. With 272 code you will lose the apps but no the sdcard content. You can restore everything with Titanium Backup.

You can use a app like this: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=tkstudio.sboot to change boot animation or some ROMS like jasmine rom 7.0 have the original samsung logo boot sequence, for the app to work you need root and read carefully before doing anything. Hope this helps.

Well if you mean like accessing and editing system files I'm not how to do edit them but I know that you can use a app like root explore: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.speedsoftware.explorer that's the free version the paid one is $3.99 in the US. With that you can move and add files to system folder you can edit permission of files and things of that nature.

Well system file is where all the data and software is at basically everything visible on the phone. Maybe this article could help it deals with modifying samsung rom and flashing it. If you want to read more on it here's the link: http://android.stackexchange.com/questions/85703/modifying-samsung-rom-and-flashing-it-on-a-device if you wanted to remove apps or add custom apps to your phone you would modify system file.
But what I thought was important was this;
(I did not write this thread)
< "You should be able to use an archive program on PC and recompress to .tar, .gz, and others. Dont forget to re-sign the archive. Keep a copy of your untouched ROM until you have the modified ROM tested and running.
The ROMs are signed with a signature. When repacking if they don't get signed they will fail in flashing. This link will help explain it.
So basically after downloading the firmware you have to rename it so you can extract the files, change them as you need, recompress them again and re-sign them, so you can flash them using Odin." >
This thread was dealing with modifying CM rom;
< "There are multiple solutions available:
Re-Zip the Image
Advantage: You do it once, and can use the resulting image for multiple devices. That's what I did with CM7.2 for my Milestone 2. Easy enough to do:
create a temporary (empty) folder
unzip the zip file to it
remove unwanted *.apk files from /system/apps (be careful of what you remove, of course)
zip up the directory contents again
Using a graphical ZIP manager (like WinZip or the like), steps would be even easier:
open the zip file with the archive manager
remove the unwanted .apk files
if the ZIP manager requires it, save the manipulated zip
Manually cleanup after flashing, using the shell
This is what ce4 recommended in the comments. It requires you using a terminal emulator on your device:
Flash the image as-is
remove superfluous stuff from the system partition by hand (like rm /system/big/junk/example.mp4)
Manually cleanup after flashing, using other tools
Almost the same as the previous method, but a bit more user-friendly. Disadvantage: this won't do for superflous ringtones and the like:
Flash the image as-is
Use a tool like Titanium Backup or Root Uninstaller to remove unwanted system apps" >
Edit: this link explains the signature of the file: (from google) https://code.google.com/archive/p/zip-signer/

Ok so I may have found a solution for you it requires a pc and to download a program. You'll need your rom and any apps you would like to insert into it. The program is as simple as right click and delete for any apps you want to remove. The program is made by a developer on XDA named "_Logie" here's the link to the Web page: http://m.tech.firstpost.com/news-analysis/how-to-add-or-remove-apps-from-a-custom-rom-101986.html and the link to the program is on there or here's the direct link: http://www.solidfiles.com/d/da2dd6335d/
This program compiles the ROM into a .zip if you have TWRP recovery you could do a backup of your previous rom before flashing your current one because you'll have to completely wipe every main partition before flashing new rom to ensure you don't run into problems
Edit: backup system, data, and cache because those are the ones you'll need to wipe also before wiping them just in case I would remove any password that locks your phone because if you try to flash a new rom and fails and your left with the recovery file it'll mess up the password, fingerprints will be forget and backup password will be unchangeable and will require a factory reset to be able to change it.

Hmmmmm ? I think you want to change the boot animation (white Verizon logo red background? ) if so your gonna need to either need to flash a pre-made zip with Flashfire (can't seem to get it to apply from twrp) or your gonna need to manually copy into the appropriate directory (mount system directory r/w copy then change permissions of the file you copied to 644 and reboot) presumably with a root explorer though doable from terminal

Try flashing with flasfire enabling the option mount system r/w and use common paths (probably not necessary but won't hurt) I have had difficulty getting anything other than ROM and gapps to apply from twrp but flashfire seems to work . I'm thinking its due to the fact that flashfire flashes after boot loader and then resets prior to os load.

Just fixed mine by doing the bootloader unlock and root steps above,
setup the phone without Google but with debug mode enabled,
flash twrp,
format data (the one that makes you type yes),
setup the phone with Google and debug mode, then
reflash the firmware with Odin (stock BL, magisk_patched AP, stock CP, and HOME_CSC).
Now I have 108gb storage with root! I just have to hold volume up+power button every time I boot, though.

read carefully every step bro. after flashing magisk patched then setup phone from beginning without setup google acount just skip, then check again by activating developer menu & usb debugging on. at the end reset from about menu..then phone's should reboot, after that install magisk manager then follow until finished process. & now after reboot u already got rooted beloved phone . congrats

Only the latest version from blackbuga, and yes, I can't access my internal storage through USB when in twrp. It doesn't bother me that much, because I only needed twrp to format the data so the storage goes back to 108gb from 32gb. Everything's been running fine so far.

but why u need twrp just for get normal storage.. while my storage going fine without twrp & i just try reset in finalizing process then install magisk at the end & everything looks good.
right now I'm just curious why there's no more dev interest in working on custom recovery & roms which is in other hand there's plenty developer working on galaxy s series with snapdragon soc with great support for official/unofficial builds whether twrp or cust roms. so sad considering the device is quite a potential to be developed

I just followed op's instructions in his A70 topic lol I get you. I came from iOS and I was really excited when I got the phone, but after seeing the development scene... I don't know, maybe it just has something to do with the phone's price being expensive and all that.

yeah it's possible for sensitive pricing from first launching. in my country first launching price going around $705 then after few month until approaching new device release info to be released in February. on new years then the price going down until just left $549,50 then i decided to bought it :victory:
maybe many people's thinking like me, wait & see before grab this phone's

.
Actually, the truth is something else and the price range is not relevant at all.
If you have A series, it is low price range of Sammy phones and if you owned previously Iphone, you jumped "from horse to donkey".
Here you can find android ultra expensive devices successfuly rooted and in everyday ongoing development.
As pricey device is, more support you have ( All S,S+ and Note series, for example).
I have very expensive Galaxy Fold device...successfully rooted with regulary ongoing development, therefore, price is not relevant at all.
There on IOS is missing crucial users inteligence, knowledge and developers on IOS users market.
Simply said...they don't have and don't need developer oriented users and no quality devices to be upgraded or "pushed" further more.
Also...IOS is CLOSED SOURCE system not opened for free development because Apple can't make profit of that.

because every three month Lenovo release OTA-Update for some Update and get worse.
After rooting tablet and lenovo release update, " boot.img" must be change back to install OTA Update from lenovo .
Now it seams this OS will be stable on Lenovo YT_X705F SMART TAB.
But still probs on running differnt APPS on this doomed crap tablet, for this issue i'm looking on LineageOS

Yes use RSA and flash the stock firmware. This stock firmware you flashed should be saved in your system's C:\ProgramData\RSA\Rom Files folder. Just get the required image files from there/
I did not flashed. I just downloaded the firmware. But it seems it is downloaded with some extension(.bmp Or pac which I did not check well).
How can I extract boot img from this?
I renamed to zip and extracted. But could not find any image files.
Can you help how did you do the extraction?
