Looking for the "case of my life" for my G6 (clear/thin) - LG G6 Accessories

Hey guys.
First, sorry if my english isnt perfect as it's not my main language.
I recently bought a LG G6, Ice Platinum color, and I dont want the back glass to get scratches over time as it's insanely gorgeous.
So I guess it's time to buy a case, but I've never been a "case guy", I hate that. Thats why I need some help to find the perfect case for me.
The top 1 priority is having a clear/transparent case. And not those "fake clear" with hundreds of little dots all over the back, it looks so ugly.
And as second priority, I'd like to have a very very thin case, flexible or solid, I don't realy care, I want it to be very thin.
I wanted to buy the "Spigen Crystal Clear" case, but it has those little dots on the back... Which is sad it's a deal breaker for me.
Fully clear tempered glass cover for the back would be the dream... I've only found ArmorSuit & PhantomSkins but I don't know what it's worth, and it's kinda expensive (+shipping to Europe). Anyone tried it yet ? It looks sexy
If you guys have any tips that would be cool.
No offense but if you just want to come here to say "Hey thin cases dont protect your phone enough blablabla", that's not what I'm looking for, i'm well aware of the downside of having a very thin case.
Thanks for reading me, waiting for answers ! Have a good day !

this: https://www.ringkestore.com/products/lg-g6-case-ringke-fusion?variant=37355916938
You can find it on Amazon for cheaper too.

Spygen crystal clear is simply crystal clear, no dots or anything. Is my case from day one and it is pratically invisible.

https://mnmlcase.com/products/lg-g6-mnml-case

Thanks for all the suggestions. I actually ended up buying 4 cases lol. Some are gonna turn yellow anyway so I guess they're all gonna be useful at some point. It will allow me to properly chose which one I like over the others.
This is what I ordered:
Spigen Liquid Crystal
Spigen Crystal Shell (also known as Ultra Hybrid)
Ringke Fusion
Ringke Air
I will comeback here for a quick review when I get them.

I had the same problem with the cases. But finally I decided to by a nillkin case. This was one I already had on my Nexus 5x and I was very satisfied.
So I bought this one: https://www.ebay.de/itm/162957438748?ViewItem=&item=162957438748
It fits perfect and is not to big. It ends on the display so you don't have a protection on the front side. For me that's not a problam at all.
I absolutely recommend this case. It has some grip lines on both sides so it is better to handle the phone.
I tried to get it on the pics:
I do have a tempered glas on the front as well.

Are you serious? Were taken with a Nikon D90 and I can't understand what's wrong with the pictures!?
Anyway I will try to make some "normal" and not so detailed pictures. Maybe that's better for you.
EDIT: How can I directly upload attachments in my post (instead of a link)? Can't find this option.

Best case i ever found for this phone is:
https://pl.aliexpress.com/item/MAKA...799.html?spm=a2g0s.9042311.0.0.305f5c0fpkE5RB

I tried a clear case and had to change it because when taking pictures, the flash would illuminate the case and make the pictures yellowish and overexposed. This was probably caused by the fact that the case had individual hole for each lens and the flash led, and got progressively worse as the case turned yellow. To alleviate the problem I would use a black marker to color the inside of the camera and led openings. This would last a couple days and end up rubbing off in my pockets, then I needed to reapply.
In the end after a couple months I just decided to switch to a black case and problem solved permanently

from my experience with transparent cases: no matter what you do, if you care a lot for them, if you wash them with soap, or if you wash your hands everytime you use the transparent case...YOUR TRANSPARENT CASE WILL TURN YELLOW ANYWAY.
So, my opinion, if you have the black G6 use a Nillkin Nature but with the black tint, not the transparent one, i have the transparent for about 1 month and already is yellowish, my V10 in the past have more than a dozen transparent cases from Nillkin to Spigen and every single one turn yellow some day sonner.
Black phone means black cases if you want to keep the "gentleman" look of G6, my best go out cases for G6 is Nillkin Carbon Fiber and Ringke Air Prism black...and this will make G6 look stuning.

AFAIK the yellow tint on the cases is a result of UV radiation, not dirty hands and anything else. So basically you can't avoid the colour change. There is a solution, like Nillkin Nature, which is already "golden copper" coloured and might not change its colour significantly over time.
Anyway a BIG PLUS for Nillkin Carbon Fiber - not only great looking case, but it also has metal plate for magnetic phone mount melted-in. Fantastic product. And the phone looks great, too.

THE thinnest minimalistic Nexus 5 case Hands Down!!

If your a Nexus 5 purest or naked lover and are slightly concerned going naked even though you like the feel or if you just dont like bulky cases this could be the case for you and its only 3-4 bucks.
It's .3mm thin covers all sides except the small bottom portion and has all the appropriate cutouts along with the sim cut out and is semi transparent however you can not see the Nexus logo through the black one I have (but you probably could if you had the white N5 or a colored version of the case).
This case is probably not all that protective considering its thinness and has very small lay on the table design and it seems to only lift the rear camera lens a very tiny bit from the surface it rests on from what I can tell so all in all it will only really protect from is scratches and maybe small bumps.
As for feeling. It said it was a TPU but idk about that it doesn't feel like it it feels just like thin plastic, almost like those plastic folders from schools or offices, so it's bendable but not like standard TPU because I'm sure you could crease it if it was bent to much. The surface feels smooth but slightly rough (more smooth than rough) so it isnt as grippy as the naked nexus and can be slippery if your hands are dry. The bulk of it is almost non existent becuse it does really feel like there is nothing on the phone at all it feels the exact same size which is awesome for people that like the size of the phone and it fits pretty snug there's no give when gripping or squeezing the phone.
The only issues I would say it has is that the sides can be a little sharp (probably from the mold) and the bottom open section where your finger rests is kinda sharp too and since its not too too tight of a fit there, your finger can snag that section when you pull it away to readjust your phone. Im sure sanding can alleviate those things, but I have yet to try it. Also since its so thin the Volume and Power are pretty much flush with the cutouts for them so it can be a little hard to feel them.
Here are some pics!
*Notes
-I have a Nilkin Tempered glass Screen protector on
-The pictures of the case were taken with the N5
-The pictures of the phone in the case were taken with a galaxy tab (Thats why they suck) lol But its the best I can do!

Haha awesome, I was on another case buying craze a week or so ago and I ordered these exact cases as well (on Jan 2nd). I'm not a TPU case fan (hardshell all the way), but when I saw .3mm I said screw it, why not? I figured it's basically a skin and not really a case. So it should still appease my "next to nothingness" criteria.
I ordered all of the colors except pink and purple (so like 7 cases :laugh. When I get them I'll do a review with pics as well. I'll add them to your thread or start a new one depending on how long and pic heavy the post ends up being.
Cheers for the initial impressions. :good:

Yea Id call it more a skin aswell but it sounds good to me! Id love to see the other colors and how they look cause I may buy more! haha
So this one has no lip above the screen at all, rather unique for a case. One problem I have with the case lips is they interfere with gesture that use the left/right edge, like moving a shortcut between home screens. Still I would prefer to have lips on top and bottom to protect the screen when I put it upside down.

It does have a lip all around except for the bottom part of the phone. Even with my tempered glass protector there is a very small lip so without it im sure the lip would be more significant.

From your pics it appears the case is not really see through like the ebay pics make it seem, is that right?

Nope it shouldn't because its not a hard plastic its more like a thin aslmost flimsy/rigid/semi-stiff plastic.
And yea the black semi transparent doesnt let the Nexus lettering come through but Im sure with the colored ones it may show a bit easier and the white nexus may show better than the black but I'm not to sure.

You could possibly buy it from http://www.rearthusa.com/OnePlus-One-Case-Protection-Absorption/dp/B00MQ72YTK ? I'm saying possibly because I kept getting weird error messages while signing up as a new customer.
My experience from the past tells me that similar case from Spigen is much better than Ringke. I wish Spigen had a ultra hybrid case for OPO, but it seems very unlikely so far.

Speigen told me they have no plans of supporting the OnePlus. I even asked if it was a typo because it's really weird they'd support the amazon fire phone which will sell like 15 units (sarcasm) but the OnePlus won't? They again confirmed it wasn't a typo and they won't be making cases for the OnePlus.
Hm wow nice. So ringke changed their mind and are now making a case. Was a fan of their fusion case for the nexus 4, their nexus 5 case not so much due to the sharp edges. I hope that there's a version that is black and not the clear version as this case.

What I like about Ringke's clear version of their case is that the back isn't busy. OnePlus's official transparent case was like that, but it was flimsy and apparently didn't always fit. Tudia's case is more sturdy, but the details of the transparent version interfere with the look of the phone. If the product graphic is accurate, then the Fusion case will combine the best of both transparent versions of the earlier cases and avoid the defects of either one.

What do you mean by it isn't busy? That it reveals the back?
The Ringke's Fusion series all show the back, the only difference are the sides of the phone. Instead of that being clear its a specific color. See http://www.amazon.com/PROTECTION--E...8215367&sr=8-3&keywords=Nexus+5+Hybrid+Fusion
They also offer "Slim" which is a hard case similar to the official OPO hard case.
But yeah, I've heard bad things about the OPO official cases and how it didn't fit properly or how the hard case cracked after a couple days use.

I explained my issues with the clear version of the Tudia case in this review:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-one/accessories/review-tudias-tpu-case-problem-t2841695
The frosted part of the case is exactly where you don't need it: on the middle, largest and widest area, which obscures the sandstone and custom back covers you might have have wanted to show off. The only reason I wanted a transparent case was to feature the back cover. This case doesn't do that. . . . [Also], the details of the design conflict with those of the half-exposed OPO, both highlighting and obscuring logos and lines of text. Additionally, the Tudia logo runs sideways vertically beside the horizontal Cyanogen text and logo, which makes the back of your new minimalist phone look like a complicated double exposure. . . . The division between the clear and frosted portions of the case are accentuated by a line of thinner transparent plastic, which segments the OPO into three sections.

I didn't mean to ask about Tudia. I meant about being "busy" I was confused on what you meant by that definition.
But other than that, I really do like the Ringke Fusion cases, hopefully this time around they won't have the sharp edges problem. Do note that the back of the case tends to attract finger prints on the back.

When I say "busy," I mean that extra design elements in a clear case can obscure or fight the design of the back of the OnePlus One. Given that one of the phone's features is supposed to be a customizable back cover, showing off the back cover is one of the reasons to buy a transparent case. But if you divide the case into three segments, obscure part of the back with a less transparent frost color, and place your vertical brand logo so that it crisscrosses the Cyanogenmod logo and the print beneath it, then you've added clutter and occlusions to the back of the device which, in my opinion, should look clean.
In the graphic on Amazon, the back of the Ringke case looks less busy -- i.e., cleaner -- than any clear case for the OPO that I've seen so far.
But other than that, I really do like the Ringke Fusion cases, hopefully this time around they won't have the sharp edges problem. Do note that the back of the case tends to attract finger prints on the back.

I assumed that shiny clear plastic might attract fingerprints but didn't know that Ringko cases sometimes had sharp edges. Thanks for making me aware of that.
Ahh I understand what you mean. Well for the Nexus 5 they had sharp edges on their case, their Nexus 4 case did not. Rearth does have good customer support though and their cases are pretty cheap. I wouldn't have a problem with ordering from Rearth. In the past they've sent a defective case where it wasn't a tight fit and they replaced the case for free without having me send the defective case back. I think the problem was eventually resolved but not 100% sure.

Poetic Affinity Case Review

Got my Poetic Affinity Case in today and figured I'd write a quick review. These poetic cases are very similar to UAG in looks and design but for 1/3 of the price. They are single peice hard poly carbonate and very ridged. Overall a nice design with a clear back to show off the beauty of your aluminum backed phone, offer a nice lip around screen for medium drop protection. My only issue is that the buttons are a little stiff but I suspect they will break in over time. I'm satisfied with my purchase and feel like it was a really good deal at around $10. It plays well with my spigen crystal screen protector and offers a good grip and feel in hand. If you guys have any questions feel free to ask. Sorry for the quality of the pics all I has was an s3 to take them.
how is the grip on it?
I had the Spigen Bumper Premium and it was still too slick for me..
Right now i have this case.. Zizo armor.. Super grippy.. but had to modify the power opening.. plus it squares off the phone and doesn't really show the HTC Beauty..
i got a Poetic Affinity case, it's a PIA to take it off if you want to, after the second time i took it off never put it on again, using Orzly FlexiCase now

in all honesty the case looks and feels good, great grip, my 2 issues with it was the taking it off because its harder "plastic", and the other issue was that the case doesn't exactly fit on top of the back of the phone, so it gets a lot of dust under there and you're gonna want to clean it.
If you can manage to take it off better than i could i would recommend the case, makes the phone a lite more bulkier but shouldn't be a problem, it wasn't for me.
I just got the Spigen rugged armor today, it's really great too, using it now!
IMO:
Poetic: good protection and good looks, still showing off your metal
Spigen Armor: good protection and good looks, no metal show off
Orzly crystal: not as good protection (thinner) but still good, and very transparent
Sorry for mentioning other cases on this thread but those are the 3 i got and i can give my opinion on

well my case came today...
First Impressions:
Good:
1. Case feels premium.
2. Phone has great grip and texture.
3. Cutout for charger seems to be large enough for all my chargers, but will test more later.
4. Clear plastic is thick and doesn't have any tinting.
5. Cutouts for camera and speakers and mics seem perfect.
6. Buttons work great and have grip on them.
Bad:
1. Headphone cutout is small, should work for standard headphone plugs, but for a computer speaker plug in, it will not fit.. i may need to modify.
It will be interesting to see how the case does after a few days of testing... hopefully it will hold up as I really like the style and feel.
Thank you.
Shadows?
Came across this case the other day in my internet travels looking for something similar to my Supcase Unicorn Beetle Hybrid for my M8. The only case SC has for the 10 looks like a gawd damn brick. Ok for some, just not me. So, my question is, can anyone please confirm whether photos taken in this case cause any kind of blur, or shadow, from the cut out. I'm not talking about the known issues with lens flare here too, just to clarify. I've never owned a clear case but have heard of some that do cause a shadow (I am assuming a reflection from flash off the clear cut out).
Cheers.

since they are completely cut out, should not have any interference.

only complaint after 1 day use was the headphone plug too small for the larger plugs.. like for computer speakers.. so i used a round file and widened it..
so now its perfect.. great grip. love how it shows off the phone.. slim and shaped like phone.

That's exactly what i'm looking for. Thanks for the replies J4G, and the review.
Hey man, I was just about to purchase from Amazon, thought i'd read through some of the reviews and some people are advising where the camera cut out is, the case sits up off the phone a little (i.e. not flush with phone), allowing debris in through the cut out. Looks flush from your last pic. Is this true?? I really don't mean to sound pedantic want to make sure I'm happy with case before I pull the trigger cause there's none to be found in Oz and I don't want to have screw around with returns.

from what i can see, that does appear true... I haven't seen much dust and debris get in there.. however i have only had it on a few days. :silly:
I will say that a lot of people said they are a pain to get off.. however I can attest that mine is like any other case.. it does hold on well, but just peel back a corner and then work on another corner, it pops right out.. so should be easy to clean..

Custom Screen Protector Layout

Hello guys, I know that this might seem silly to some, but it's the only way I could get a decent screen protector on my V20. Problem is (at least in my country) that there aren't any good screen protectors in the market. Only one store sells them, and they don't stick to the screen at the top and bottom edges where it's curved, so I took some measures and drew a template in autocad, bought an Armorsuit protector (ipad size) and cut it. It fit PERFECTLY and it's case friendly too. I hope this helps

Sure can do, tomorrow i'll take them with my gf's phone camera so you can see it clearly, but it fits PERFECTLY. I use it with a Ringke Fusion Case and there's no lifting in the edge problem or anything like that. Like I said before this might seem quite useless to most, in the US you can easily get the Armor Suit for the V20, but here it's almost impossible so I had to find the way.

Super annoyed with SPIGEN.

I've been using Spigen products for years. When you've come to expect quality products from a brand, it's double frustrating, if something just doesn't live up to the expectations. Spigen crystal clear TPU case for V40 bleeds light from the flash, resulting in pretty crummy photos. See comparison picture attached. I can't believe this hasn't been tested sufficiently prior to release. I've seen this issue from cheap, no-name case manufacturers a few years ago. Didn't expect it from Spigen.
I actually like the bleed. I have the flash on when the phone rings so it's nice to know it's ringing when the phone is silent and I'm not right next to it. I never use the flash for pictures and on the rare occasion I do it's easy enough to remove. Wish they made translucent colors. [emoji6]

lol... I doubt too many people would agree it's a good thing, but I'm glad it doesn't bother you

I had purchased this case with the same result which is why I posted a review on Amazon about it. https://www.amazon.com/Spigen-Liquid-Crystal-Designed-ThinQ/dp/B07GQ8N7XV/ref=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8&qid=1542943287&sr=8-4&keywords=spigen+lg+v40
Unless you intend to send it back, you can try a few things to fix it. In the past, I've put a small ring of black tape around the inside of the hole and it blocks the light from going through the case. You can also try and use a black magic marker on the inside as well. Lastly, you can cut out the piece of plastic between the flash hole and the camera lenses which will significantly diminish the light transfer making it to the lens.
I only saw your review after I encountered the issue. I always read reviews on Amazon, but for this product it seemed like it wasn't necessary. Lesson learned Thanks for the suggestions!

I'm currently using a VOIA case I bought off ebay. I would really recommend it. I originally bought the thin hard shell one but then got another that covered the side buttons. They both feel and work great.
Thank you for the recommendation. I ordered a Ringke one - it has a wider cutout with no divider between the cameras and flash. Hopefully, that'll be better.

Its this one if you were wondering or the ringke one is not up to your standards.
Thank you!

I have:
URBAN ARMOR GEAR UAG LG V40 ThinQ Plasma Feather-Light Rugged [Ash] Military Drop Tested Phone Case - Typical greatness from UAG. Have had them on the G6, V30 and now V40 (and most family also uses them on G6's and S9+). Pricey though.
Spigen Tough Armor Designed LG V40 ThinQ Case (2018) - Black - Want to like it, kickstand is great for watching videos during flights, but the stupid buttons are hard to find. Why they didn't texture all of them, I have no idea.
Ringke [Fusion-X] Compatible with V40 Case Ergonomic Transparent [Military Drop Tested Defense] - Inexpensive, but a fingerprint MAGNET. Didn't use if for long at all (like, a day).
I noticed the same issue. Dont know for sure but it seems especially the Telephoto lense is impacted or did you shoot that photo with the main camera?
Its a huge mistake the Spigen cover for the V30 did not have this issue. It had way more clearance around the flash LED.
Try this one It works very well for me and has pretty good protection .

The real question is, how did you get your cat to stay nearly still while you removed the case to take the 2nd picture?
