Screen locked to all black while on call with headphones on - Samsung Galaxy S9 Questions & Answers

While on a call with my headphones on, my S9 screen would lock and go black after about 20 sec. of no activity. I was unable to long press the home button (had to guess where it was b/c screen was all black) and no other buttons worked EXCEPT for the shortcut button which opened bixby. My only option to unlock the screen was to press the shortcut button and screen flip back to the phone screen. I have my unlock with home button setup on with hard press, screen timeout at 5 mins., and smart stay active. Anyone else have their S9 screen lock to all black while on a call with their headphones and not be able to wake it?

Lock Buttons on screen off?

I've set my phone screen to not lock when I turn the screen off using the power button. But I'm finding that pressing the volume, menu, home or any button is then turning the screen back on again, which is great except my screen timeout is set to 30 mins, and my battery gets eaten when im hitting a button by mistake in my pocket.
Is there a way of locking all buttons except the power button to turn the screen on and off? Im used to using my phone this wy in WM, and hopefully I can mimic this use with Android too.
Thank in advance

True Lock Screen

Problem: You get a call, which wakes up the phone. You reach in your holster to grab the phone. Things press on the screen and it launches apps while you are picking up the phone.
Solution: A true lock screen where you need to slide a slider before the touch screen becomes enabled.

The stock HTC lock screen already has the slide to answer feature. If you want a lock screen similar to that, then there is S2U2 that is a very good choice.

At first I was thinking I couldn't use it because the key was already assigned to voice command, and I use that all the time. Then I realized that that's assigned to the Send key, not the End key, and the Long Press End key toggles Airplane mode by default, which I would seldom need. Re-assigning the Long Press End to toggle the lock screen is perfect.
Tap or press Start > Settings > All Settings > Personal (tab) > Buttons > Long Press End Key (tab). Choose Lock device in the radio buttons and tap OK. Press and hold the End key to lock the keys and screen.

Not having a lock screen is not a problem when receiving a call because it automatically pops up the call screen, which has its own lock slider, or I can push the Send button to accept. The problem comes when I get a text or e-mail and it wakes up the phone. When I pull it out of my horizontal belt holster, I have to touch the screen, and since the touch screen is now alive, I launch apps I didn't intend to. With the lock screen, it remains locked until I am ready to check out the text or email message. I don't even need to mess with the slider. Simply removing the stylus causes the lock screen to exit. The lock screen doesn't change the behavior when a call comes because the phone automatically launches the same call screen it always did, and closes the lock screen so I don't have to deal with that when I answer calls, so I can still accept the call quickly. This is perfect!
Thanks TONS!

Power Button to End Calls...

Hey everyone,
I have the push power button to end calls option enabled, but I have noticed bug with it.
When using the phone on spearkerphone, the screen still times out and turns black. Touching the screen or pushing the volume rockers does not wake the screen back up. So basically there is no way to add a call, bring up the dialer pad, etc. Pushing the power button obviously ends the call.
The way it should be designed: pushing the power button ends the call ONLY when the screen is up to your face (proximity sensor activated) or the screen is on.

[Q] Can you only use the power button to unlock the screen?

Can anyone unlock the phone using home button ?
it only works with the power button for me. The home button works when the screen is on but not when , the screen is turned off the phone flashes for brief second then screen goes off, i noticed this before i downgraded and after it has always been like this, its like I am double tapping it when I am not . I get the same response if i double tap the power button
Just to be clear. Are you asking if the screen turns on and stays on after pressing the Home button while the screen is turned off?
I'm on unlocked 3.6.8 and if my screen is off, I can press the home button and the screen turns on (still have to slide to unlock or enter PIN). However, the screen does stay on for a period of time and I can sit and look at the lock screen, view the dynamic perspective on it, etc until the timer eventually shuts the screen off again.
If the sensor located below the front camera is covered up with a screen protector or anything else then you can have problems turning the phone on with the home button or the camera button.
All screen protectors with a hole for the sensor should work on the phone. Screen protectors without a hole for the sensor may or may not work. My screen protector doesn't have a hole for the sensor but I don't have a problem turning the phone on with the home button. But if I cover the sensor with my thumb I can not turn my phone on with the home button.

Home Screen Gets Stuck

sometimes when I press the home button and my phone exits the app, I get stuck at the home screen. the screen is non-responsive, as are the on screen buttons. I have to press the power button to lock the phone and then unlock it again. Does anyone know about this and does anyone have any recommendations?
That's happened to me before, too. It's like when you exited the app, it went straight to the screen lock - except the screen show the lock screen, nor does it dim.
