Google Camera port for HTC M8 - One (M8) Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi all,
Is there a port of Google Camera with HDR+ and others freatures for the M8? or is it absolutely impossible due to Hardware limitation? I have M8 with S-Team Rom.
I searched in web/xda and found nothing about this.
Thanks.

Im afraid not.

These may work. Build for 32 bit. Worked on this Snapdragon 801 chip on Oppo.
But... 2nd link requires Android 7 for sure, and 1st won't work correctly, at least on 6 (crash).
https://www.celsoazevedo.com/files/android/google-camera/f/GC_4.1.006.126161292-41003513.apk
https://www.apkmirror.com/apk/googl...amera-4-1-006-135988111-android-apk-download/
This older 3.1 also works on 6.x, but also crashes on stock ROM (maybe due to unedited build.prop)
https://f.celsoazevedo.com/file/gcamera/GC_3.1.021_6.0H.apk
Possible fixes for mentioned crash:
https://www.celsoazevedo.com/files/android/google-camera/troubleshooting/#help4
On 6.x stock ROM worth to start from adding build.prop relevant line to unlock Camera 2 API. Everything described there. Root required for build.prop edit if required and Camera 2 API doesn't work (like on stock 6.x ROM). You can test it e.g. in Snap Camera settings and try to enable Camera 2 API. Don't forget to restart the phone after editing the file.
All Google Camera ports versions:

Maybe you'll find yourself some new working ones yet.
But working Camera 2 API is required, and 64 bit ones won't work.

[How to] Install fully functional Google Camera! (No port needed) (Exynos + CustomOS)

This is a simple tutorial for those on there who really want a fully functional Google Camera without needing to install a ported version or buggy version just to get away from the glitchy green flickering while recording video or who want a slight increase in quality and usability. It's simple, to begin all you will need are the following to get started.
1. Official TWRP Recovery installed and functional.
2. A LineageOS based ROM to install (E.g. LineageOS, Resurrection Remix, etc).
3. A specific GApps package is required for this step. Navigate to here: https://opengapps.org and make sure you have selected "ARM64" for "Platform". Now select your Android version and make sure you select Stock GApps package and above (Very Important!) (Optional: Aroma Package can also be used but was avoided in this tutorial.) The reason I asked you to install the stock package and above is because the stock default camera (AOSP Camera) is replaced with the Google Camera upon GApps install.
(Recommendation: If you prefer a pixel like device like I do with all stock AOSP based apps replaced with Google apps then install the "Super" GApps from opengapps.org).
4. Backup any important data before proceeding.
5. Wipe the appropriate partitions in TWRP.
6. Flash your ROM of choice + GApps.
7. Done!
I know that most advanced users already knew this was possible I just thought I would create this for the non-technical savvy folk. Thanks for reading and I hope you enjoy your new Google Camera!
I think this gcam have no hdr+ mode
All of this for... gcam without hdr+? What's the point?

For people like me that don't like the stock AOSP apps like the camera, and prefer Google apps? I thought that much was obvious.

Sorry, didn't want to say anything wrong, but losing ability to shoot in 4k 60fps and all other video modes, ability to use second camera for 9+ users.. All of this for NOT- fully working Google camera? Sorry, but this doesn't sound practical. Plus, that old version can be easily installed on any device.
The main problem is the misleading thread title. All users would expect fully working Google camera with the most important feature - HDR+.

agreed. I actually am not a fan of Google camera UI and only use it for HDR+ (it's the best) and have been waiting for a functional port as well.

It's a problem with Global/CN. I know there are some camera patches that supposedly can fix this, but I don't know witch one works in MIUI10 with Magisk. Please if you know any patch that can fix this link me to the file. Here is the thread with some files https://4pda.ru/forum/index.php?for...6202&act=search&source=pst&query=Camera+Patch

Can you share the files on Yandex? For some users (like me) it's not possible to create a 4pda account and we can't download those camera patches, thanks a lot

Thanks for your reply, then we need an user who can create/already have a 4PDA account
There are no new versions of Camera patches, everyone there uses Gcam
Make sure you're using a Pixel 2 Gcam port. Pixel 3 Gcam still has buggy front camera performance, if it even works at all.

Does GCam supported on Moto G7 Play

Howdy all,
I just got myself a new Moto g7 Play,
and I was wondering if there is an .APK compatible to run Google Cam App (GCam) on this device?
Thanks
BSG mod works
The bsg mod from the first pixel, the 32 bits apk, works on my g7 play. I unlocked bootloader, rooted it with magisk, installed camera 2 api and added the Hal3 line in prop file and everything seems to work, including camera 2 api in apps like open camera. Keep in mind that latest gcams are 64 bits, so I think they do not work properly (I tried several apks and mods)
Is there a way to run GCam without rooting? The official instructions say that one just needs to install the .apk. Rooting isn't mentioned.
Honestly I don't know. I rooted my device before thinking about using gcam actually :/
Also, most stuff talking about using gcam in other devices besides pixel ones talk about rooting and getting camera 2 api.
But I think you can try to install it without root though
You could try one of the older gcam mod apks that did support 32bit but the newer ones that only use 64 bit cant be used and most the modded ones now also need to be on 64bit

Question Are camera Apps limiting custom ROMs?

Hello everybody!
I have downloaded and installed Lineage OS on my Poco F3.
It's a great device but there are some software problems that really bugs me (proximity sensor is a mess, some GUI element are not good for usability, the "everything you need, nothing you don't" thing and then the phone is full of useless apps that i don't need...)
Lineage OS solved all of my problems except for one: the camera.
I'm realizing that there is no real alternative for the native camera app because it offers you the full potential of the hardware with all the features.
Don't get me wrong: i tried Open Camera, GCam Port and other popular apps.
Really good projects but there is always something missing or not working.
In addition on Lineage some camera apps are just not available on the Play Store (for example Footej Camera... using another store, dumping the APK from another device... all useless... the app will recognize my device as not compatible).
Why is that?
Lastly i even tried to install the stock APK on Lineage without success.
What is your opinion on that?
What are the software limitations involved?
Is this a limiting factor for you?
What camera app do you use?
Best regards.
I'm not someone who uses camera that much but I can tell you that I totally agree with people who think that native camera is the best. I use Samsung Galaxy S9 Plus and there is no alternative to camera which comes originally. That's one of the reasons why I tend to use ROMs with camera very close to stock one or even the same like stock one.
Lineage is known to cripple cameras.
you sound pretty knowledgeable, so i'm probably not offering much here... but, ANXCamera (miui camera port) is being worked on for our device, as far as i can tell... the following is copied from T.Gram... may show promise later on, but for now it's not fully functional
How get ANX working (partially)—
1. Download the MiUI Core from here (MOD EDIT: Link Removed)
2. Download the latest ANX (full version modded for R) from here (https://camera.aeonax.com/)
3. Flash the MiUI Core and ANX Zip through Magisk
4. Reboot
5. Paste the device-feature XMLs (MOD EDIT: Link Removed) in–
/storage/.ANXCamera/features/
6. Download ANXCamera Pro (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.aeonax.camerapro) from the Play Store and use it to enable all the desired features in ANX.
What doesn't work for now:
UW, Macro and 48MP

Camera modules do not work on custom firmware.

Hello everyone, I installed lineage with 12android. Looking for a official GCam that will work on this system.
I read information on the internet. The processor is suitable, the firmware is new, Google services are installed. Custom GCams work, but I cant understand why the wide-angle module and 48mp do not work in these programs.
I think this is a common problem and I hope there is a solution already.
+ a problem with the volume of video recording (very quiet), in some messengers the recording of a video message lags.
(before that, pixelexpirience was installed, which worked slightly crookedly. Google camera did not work there either.)
