Oversaturated Colour Profile in Custom ROMs - Lenovo ZUK Z2 (Plus) Questions & Answers

So all the custom ROMs switched to a weird colour profile in late-2017 that causes the display colours to become over-saturated.
Most people suggest using Kernel Auditor to adjust the colour values manually. However it isn't possible to achieve anything close to the default colours that are used in ZUI, even with the saturation level turned down and RGB levels tweaked.
A quick search on XDA shows a lot of other users who share the same frustrations. I realise a lot of people like this colour profile as it has a kind of AMOLED vibe to it, but it simply does not produce accurate and true-to-life colours like the default profile in ZUI does.
Is there some kind of solution to this issue?

How come no-one cares about this? Whenever I look at this phone I'm left amazed at how bad the colour profile is in comparison to stock ZUI. Surely people don't look at these colours and think it looks fine?

Agree with you totally on AEX 5.5 colours are too saturated, if some one can create a mod it would be wonderful.

Thanks for the replies. For now I am using Kernel Adiutor Mod by BHB27 which has some inbuilt colour profiles.

These are my settings which i use on every rom

Guys, since I made this thread I found that if you head into Kernel Auditor and set the Saturation to 32 as well as adjust all of the Red, Green and Blue to 240 each, it does look a lot more natural and more like the stock ZUI colours. But if you leave the RGB values at 256 then the colours still have a weird appearance to them.
I think setting a lower value like 240 in combination with reducing the saturation seems to 'flatten' the colour tones and highlights. Maybe it's worth trying because I am totally satisfied with these settings, at long last.

i am on pixel experience 26/05 , colour reproduction is much better than any other rom .
i have installed kernel auditor to see the settings of color .

Can H2OS Call recorder be ported to OOS?

Is it possible to Port H2OS Call recorder to OOS?
I love H2OS...but it doesn't support Volte...
and OOS doesn't support call recording...
As a workaround I installed OOS...Booted ans configured it and then went to TWRP and wiped System partion and flashed H2OS.
Now I can use H2OS with Volte.
It will be a lot better if I could use H2OS call recorder on OOS.

Call recording in OB13 is geo-locked, the option is invisible when you are in countries that have laws against call recording. You might be able to find the menu through using third-party settings shortcut apps.

as i know, the option is only available in China. just change persist.sys.oem.region=OverSeas to persist.sys.oem.region=CN on build.prop and you can get the option.

I can confirm i have this option here in India. Please note that some countries' law does not allow call recording. So it will be disabled for you by default.

I imagine you can switch the buttons in the options.
I am in US and can confirm changing
Code:
persist.sys.oem.region=OverSeas
to
Code:
persist.sys.oem.region=CN
in build.prop did in fact allow for calls to be recorded. It also flipped my back/recents buttons. I was a little curious/worried what else changing the region settings updated, so I changed back to
Code:
persist.sys.oem.region=OverSeas
and after a reboot I am still able to record calls. It's weird though as the buttons are still swapped (so I have to enable the swap buttons option in system settings), but at least I have call recording while still having my oem.region set to OverSeas.
EDIT: Can someone with US phone who has not updated their persist.sys.oem.region check Settings->About phone and see if there is a 'Preinstalled application list' menu item in there? I haven't seen that before and clicking it shows (assumably) a list of apps in Chinese. Also, there is now a 'H₂OS version' with 'Unknown' status in there. I am using 3T OOS Open Beta 4 with FrancoKernel. Any idea what/why that is?

Seems like people don't understand the hardware limitation.
then why xiaomi dev boost screen at 66~90hz and it work perfect ?!
So this is fake?
When I changed this and tried to set QHD this came up, it defintly changes something because I went into my settings after I done that and tried to set QHD but wouldn't allow me to, It defintly flicks a real switch on in real settings for that to show up but if it works or not is different storey

I hope you were just joking.
About hardware limitations !! I think our S10 can be overclocked upto 90hz !! We just Need a developer who can do it !! just Like they did with poco f1 ,and Mi9 !!
It could be in the code of the settings, but it does not mean that the actual panel will support it. Highly unlikely that Samsung had the solution for 120Hz more than a year ago.
If not 120hz, is it possible that this setting pushes the display at its higher possible hardware limited display rate? For example up to 70 or 75hz?
And may be its April's fool joke ?

Possible!! Ofcourse !! ! If poco f1 an LCD panel can able to overclock @69hz and Xiaomi Mi9 super amoled can overclock @84hz !! So Our S10 can easily able to go upto 90hz !! No doubt!! But unfortunately we dont have any good developers for our devices !!
This feature is available

No substratum doesn't require root on Samsung phones! Using an unlocked snapdragon variant on the t-mobile network Been using it since the Note 8, the current instructions are toward the end of the thread.

For me personally I prefer hex over synergy/subs. Just feel like hex has more customization options and the themes are more detailed. Admittedly I haven't tried synergy/subs lately so maybe that isn't the case anymore.
Other than the power consumed while building/installing the hex themes I haven't noticed a hit on battery while actively using a theme.

Are you using Substratum "lite" w/Synergy or Substratum w/Andromedia?

Substratum lite w/synnergy. Substratum with andromedia was a pain and it's not supported anymore.

ok, thanks for confirming. my [personal] issue with Substratum Lite/Synergy is never knowing which selection would crash. plus, not many Amoled Black themes work with Samsung devices. what themes are you using? thanks.
