What happens to build number? - AT&T Samsung Galaxy Note 8 Accessories

Setting>about phone>software information >build number
After the 8.00(Oreo)upgrade when at build number it ask for a password. I don't remember that with my formers Android phones to get to the build number a password was asked. I never wrote a password to get to build number before Oreo. No matter what password I I used there's no way to build number.

Sir, after you touch various times the build number you are suppose to enter developer options. No with my Note 8, there's a screen asking for a password. I tried to take a screen shot but it can't happen for some kind of security reason.

No, it's my personal mobile. Something is happening cause before the 8.0 upgrade I went to developers option without any hesitation regarding password of any kind. I wrote this post thinking someone will answer having the same problem or maybe somebody writes back it's yours carrier sin but now I'm thinking that something happens with the Oreo upgrading via OTA days ago. This is the first time something like that happens to one of my phones, formers phones I mean. Years in Android, many phones including a Google Nexus 5 and a Pixel XL. Well there's always a first time. I checked out the security in settings but not see nothing there different (in the list of formers phones there was a Samsung Galaxy S6 and S8+). After the Oreo OTA I performed a Cache Partition without fixing the problem and then proceeded to a Factory Data Reset with the same results. My Note is running very good except for the impossibility to enter developers option. Ha, ha, when I used the Google Nexus 5 someone in one of the Android Forums wrote about changing(not remember the exact term) some numbers at developers option to. 5. Always do the chance to. 5 inside developers option. Ha, ha, just stuff of an old man. I hope that as soon as the Note 9 hits AT&T and I bought it this password nonsense comes to an end.

Godd morning Sir. First of all thanks for answering my post. I find a fix to my Note 8 issue, a kind of logical and easy one; settings>lock screen and security >screen lock type and select none. Then I was able to enter developer options and changed the animations scales to 0.5x. Can't confirm but after the OTA upgrade to 8.0(Oreo) there's some kind of bug regarding the password screen lock type. So after the build number comes this password asking screen and when I wrote down my password screen lock type it can't be read or confirm. So NO password lock type for the moment. Thanks again.

[Q] 4 year old + screen lockout menu + random passcode=crap..

so like alot of the other tthreads, i wont bore you with details on how a toddler managed to turn on the screen lock and enter the same code twice and lock me out of my phone, question is, i heard there is software that can "break" thru the passcode, or read the passcode so i can either disable it, or find out what it is,enter it and disable it.
i was told SN-RMS will do it but:a. its carrier only, b. nothing in the product manual mentions anything about this being a feature or ability
will QPST or CDMA workshop work for this? a hard reset is really not an option, since i was a moron and didnt backup my stuff. any suggestions?
TL;DR : What software can get into a phone while the security lock screen is on to either disable lock screen, or read passcode so I can disable it. TIA
This has been discussed before and due to security of the rest of our phones I dont think you are going to get any help on this topic.. If I were you I would go to your closest sprint store and see if they can help you. Good luck!

Yes, you get get prompted with an option to answer or decline without unlocking it. I have my One tied to an exchange server tied to mine with strict security policies (disables message previews and forces deletion after certain amount of tries) and I can still answer without unlocking.

Very strange. I have had my phone setup with a security pin since the day I got it and I have always been able to answer my phone without unlocking it.
I'm on stock kit Kat and it works fine. I have pin setup and when someone calls I can answer or decline. Probably just because viper is based on another device. Viper will probably update our base at some point.
Thanks for the replies.guess I'm flashing kk tonight cause that's annoying

[Q] pattern lock reset help ~ I've not forgotten it, simply want to change it

Please help me? I am by no means a developer, just a wanna be nerd with a new phone. I'm looking for pattern lock reset help ~ I've not forgotten it, simply want to change it, and while it seems like something that would be simple and obvious, it is currently not presenting itself that way and I'm more than a little frustrated with myself (and it).
Meanwhile, the first two weeks the phone seemed just fine (apart from not playing with Planet anymore, though that seems worked out now, though I'm not at all certain). Now, I'm getting a lot of security issues cropping up that seem disturbing. Verizon tech support tells me that Kitkat 4.3 has known issues in this arena that they hope will be corrected in the next update. There is a constant message about my network traffic, email, etc may be monitored by an unknown third party and to check my security certificates. Did that ~ cleared them all, but that only helped for about 10 minutes. The phone insists that it cannot get a secure connection to Facebook, so I am too wary to do much of anything online with it. Seems to defeat the purpose of even having the phone. I'm seriously considering switching back to my last smartphone and turning this one off (I do not believe that I can return it).
I'm so sorry to ramble on so, but is it insane to ask if the M8 can be pushed back to an older version of Android?!?!?
Thank you so very much for ANY help at all.
Change pattern: settings, security, click on Screen lock and enter your current pattern. Click Screen Lock again to enter a new one, then repeat to confirm, and you're done.
For the second part I have no solution I'm afraid.

"He" is a she... and I am not looking to hack anything at all. I am simply too daft to change my own security pattern. As I stated clearly, I have not forgotten how to unlock my phone, I would simply like to change it, and while this should be a simple and obvious task, it appears to be eluding me at present... (though I am, somehow, adept enough to have already tried the obvious tactic of "googling" the question before annoying those I presumed more clever than myself.
To the first response, I thank you for your kindness and patience, I will attempt your suggestion straight away.
Kind regards,

Have you tried following these "suggestions" ?
HOWTO Install a custom cert without "Your network could be monitored" message
How can I trust CAcert's root certificate?
Remove "Network May Be Monitored by an Unknown Third Party" in Android 4.4 KitKat
Maybe/Hopefully it'll sort out your second problem in regards to the Trusted Credentials.
Anyone htat ever needs to reset their lock if they have forgotten it or get locked out somehow, Here is my backdoor mod I created specifically for this type of situation You may not need it now but download it & save it so you will always have it with you when that time comes if it ever oes and chances are, it will!

Search works really well in the Settings menu. Type fingerprint and I bet you that you'll find it.
Nope, nothing under security and nothing when I searched. Must of got a lemon.

Oh that's definitely weird!!! I'd call google, or fastboot the factory image again if your bootloader unlocked
Googled it, not a common occurrence but it has happened on some Pixel smartphones. Recourse is return it and try another sine it is still in that window.
If not, it would have to be sent to google. They either fix it or send you a new device.

Did you try a factory reset? You would hate to send back and the problem is fixed but you get a new hardware issue on the replacement device.
Did it not allow you to set your fingerprint during the initial start setup?
Factory reset three times, did not help. It did not give me an option at startup to use fingerprint, only pin or password etc.
Anyone having this issue don’t beat yourself up trying to resolve. Return the Pixel and get a replacement. Next one I got after exchange was fine.

How to find out model number on Galaxy s9 tmob..

Hello fellas(and ladies)
I have a Samsung Galaxy S9, from t-mobile, dark blue. I've locked myself out of the device, and I have a friend that is going to help me get it back working. In order for him to be able to help me, he needs to know the model number. I know it's a SM-G960.. but how do I determine the exact model (i.e. sm-g960f, sm-g960e, etc). I'm unable to login to the phone so I cant check it like that, and the back cover is sealed on there as you know unless you have the tools to remove the cover (which I don't). Is there another way to find out which model it is, like download mode or recovery mode or something? Thanks for taking the time to read this, and for your advice.
Edit- US Model

You just keep locking yourself out of devices don't you....
https://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-j7/help/galaxy-j7-g-oogle-verification-issue-t3852720/
Well one thing you can do is reset your Google password on a computer then try to login again after 24 hours. Surely you have a recovery email address which you can use?
This is Samsung's instructions on what to do:
If you already reset your device, but don't remember your Google username and/or password, the device can't be used. In that case, you can do one of these:
If you know your Google username but can't remember the password, you can reset your password on the device, or at www.google.com. It can take up to 24 hours for a new password to sync with all registered devices. After 24 hours, you can try logging in to your phone with the new password.
If you have multiple Google Accounts, and you can't remember which Google Account you set up on your device, visit https://www.google.com/android/devicemanager.
Log in with your Google username and password and check the list of devices registered to the account. If you don't see the device listed on the account, it means the device is registered to a different account. Use the same process to check for devices linked to your other Google Accounts. When you find the registered account, use it to log in to your device.
If you can't remember any of your Google Account information, you can send your device, along with proof of purchase, to an authorized Samsung Service Center. Samsung has special tools to reset the phone to factory defaults with no protection enabled.

Furthermore:
It seems dodgy to me that you posted a topic pretty much asking the same thing about a month ago regarding a totally different phone here - https://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-j7/help/galaxy-j7-g-oogle-verification-issue-t3852720/
FRP is there to prevent lost/stolen phones from being used, if you've bought a phone that is FRP locked you should take it up with the seller. Not try to break the lock yourself!
