today indian version got 8.1 update. cant we get that ROM?

ive tried using vpn for china and mine still says system up to date ,mine is on 7.1.1 nov 6th security patch,i think its cos our phone has unofficial playstore app that it wont update. there is a mena firmware update which it says is for our variant on nokia 6 forum but nobody has said if it definitely for second gen ta-1054 ,if it is you could flash it and install all updates manually ,but im waiting untill someone lets me know if its legit has i dont want to brick my new phone

There was one rom in the nokia-6 MENA method, but I could not get it on my phone tho, also no reply on the topic for solution.
I sent back the chinese one, and ordered a global version from amazon.
But after a while there should be systems dumps, or updates to flash.

Anyone else tried flashing mena 2nd gen firmware from Nokia 6 link ?

it wont work bud you cant unlock the bootloader ive been trying for weeks

I tried the PL2-064D-0-00CN-B05.nb0, from this link:

To obtain tools look here:

But try at your own risk
Mine survived tho, but no luck ob upgrading.

Did you try it, or?

I've tried it numerous times always fails log says cannot flash locked device

Any progress?
Ive tried installing the latest play store APK as well as China VPN and India/Netherlands as they have started to receive their 8.1 updates (apparently) but nothing.
Im stuck on 7.1.1 and the Nov 2017 security update.
Also, has anyone else tried USB/WiFi/BT tethering...none of these are working (AUS on Telstra). Has anyone else tried?
It worked fine on Oppo phone so its not the carrier and I have checked the APN info.

Another Q..
If the phone is unlocked, would you be able to flash the RoW firmware thats currently being rolled out or are you limited to the (not currently available) TA-1054 only?

Nokia Model: TA-1054 is this version china or global

got a TA-1054 here today in China. Updated 6 times all the way to 8.1.0 without issue.

once bootloader unlocking is available you can flash global firmware just be patient bud

@safron35. Yep..but my reason for wanting the update is so i get tethering. Currently at 7.11 all the tethering (wifi, USB and BT) on my phone is broken. I've had to resort back to using my Oppo until I can get it working as I need this functionality for my work.
@pola..Thanks for the heads up..I'll try connecting my VPN to a Chinese server again and see how it goes.
Anyone know what they use as a check/verification for location?

The ta-1054 is Chinese custom ROM if its on 7.1.1 Nov patch and will not update until you unlock bootloader and flash original firmware ,no matter what you try

Ah..got it. Thx for the info.
Another Q if that's ok? ....if it's had a custom F/W flashed this would mean it's already had its bootloader unlocked yes?

Old Bootloader and Nougat would work?

I have applied and got the bootloader from zuk's official website when mobile was on Marshmallow.
But I couldnt flash it due to busy schedule and also far from android flashing for last 6-7 months, so now it is on Nougat.
Can I use the old bootloader yet oon my mobile having Nougat?
Or should I goto ZUK website again and re-apply for new bootloader?
Its the Indian Version (4/64).
Any one??

I assume you're talking about unlocking your BL. However, personally I don't know whether it depends on Firmware version or not, so I suggest you to re-download it if it allows. If it doesn't - you're ready to go for unlocking your Bootloader. Good luck

BND-L24, can it be rooted?

Anyway to root this US model?
Oh, absolutely. I rooted mine in December.
Don't. There is no benefit to it and it only causes problems. Wait until there is full firmware available and you've already upgraded to official Oreo.

EMUI 8.0 (with Android 8.0) is already in beta. So, I think the stable release will come out in a few months. You won't have to wait till June 2019 ?.

In order to root you first need to unlock the bootloader and FRP. Once this has been done, it cannot be undone. Any attempt will likely result in bootloops or brick.
At this time, it will prevent you from being able to apply any OTA updates and voids whatever warranty you might have had.
With root, however, you can do a couple of neat things like remove the bloatware. Most of that can be removed without root, but there are a couple things. Add-free youtube? There's an apk out there that doesn't require root for that. Apply a different kernel that allows you to tweak performance or battery consumption? Doesn't exist and the phone's pretty good at performance and battery life as it is anyway. Oh, and snapchat won't work on root.
One really great thing you can do with root is flash the AOSP or OpenKirin rom. They're beta, so your experience might be better or it might be worse than stock.
Was there something else you wanted to do with root that you can't do without it?
I've never owned an Android device without root, but I'm regretting rooting this one. I'm looking to try out OpenKirin, but since my phone actually works for the time being, I'm hesitant.

If you're insistent, here's how you root:

So is there anyway to update L24 US model to Oreo beta? How can I get the beta ROM? I want to update to RR Oreo but all the I go seems to be for Indian L21 version. Can Huawei Firmware finder give me the update? I have Emui 5 and need Emui 8 with project treble FW to go to RR

As I understand it, you need to use the guide to upgrade to L21 and then flash RR Oreo from there. From what I've see elsewhere in the forums, one person has done it successfully and one person has bricked.
I've rooted many phones over the years but this one hasn't been fun. Unlocked bootloader, rooted and installed TWRP basically the day it was available. I didn't read one of the postings correctly one day and soft bricked my L24 trying to RELOCK and flash stock recovery. Long Story short I gave up and called customer support this past Sunday and started a warranty ticket. They sent me a packing slip via email. My package was handed to UPS driver at 12:45 Monday afternoon and my phone is already in route back to me for delivery tomorrow. I think I'm going to pass on unlocking and rooting until there's stock firmware released. Good luck if you choose to root.....
hi guys
I want to delete The Booatloader and Root from my Honor 7X

Neither me, since I owned an Android, I rooted. But the the question now is? Is it worth to lose the warranty and OTA updates now that Huawei has been banned in US? I owned the Honor 7x since a year, it works just perfect, but there are some apps that i would like to use that require root, like Tinkore keymapper and a DIY gamepad. Again, is it worth it?

Something odd just happened
Ok, strange story to tell. Not expecting it on my phone.I'm running an unlocked 9.6.4.0 ..theoretical dodgy rom on my Chinese 128mb machine. It runs fine , i've had no problems with it...All of a sudden , just now, i got an official OTA update to 9.6.6.0. - the quote Xiaomi " Updates to improve speed and stability." Downloaded it ,fearing the worst and questioning my sanity in doing this.Anyways, I applied it , closed my Eyes and waiting for the reboot , visions of locking the device and going into a interminable boot loop , bricking the phone. Now pleasantly surprised as it's rebooted fine, seems to work correctly and more to the point.....it remains unlocked ! Just thought i'd let everybody know.
Does this mean the 9.6.4.0 was indeed not a dodgy rom in the first place ?
That's exactly what it means and some so called "experts" here still don't get it...
Your experience shows an important detail we wasn't sure about - no we know global rom is not restricted to global device version!
This week is a week of surprises.Spent just 24 hrs on 9.6.6.0 (see the Previous Post)...last night I got another OTA update from Xiaomi. It was the Official Miui 10 Global Rom (10.0.1.0 - OEDMIFH - Security patch 1/9/2018) .Again its working fine on my Chinese 128GB model....and again it remains unlocked.

Maybe because this is still in Beta stage.
The official stable version is still not released they sent out OTA update of the stable version to some devices for testing and after the feedback it will be officially sent out to all devices, so be careful that with the official release it might lock the bootloader.

ZENFONE 5 ZE620KL [OFFICIAL] Android 9 - Pie

UPDATED: Official Android Pie (9) is now available for the WW variant.
Do you want the update? Read on!
You can download from here (~1,88 GB): https://dlcdnets.asus.com/pub/ASUS/ZenFone/ZE620KL/UL-ASUS_X00QD-ASUS-16.0610.1812.58-1.1.15-user.zip
You must be on WW 15.0619.1810.73 or Android Pie Beta in order to update! If you're on a different ROM, you may brick your phone!
Update method A:
Download the file - linked above
Put it on your phone to "Internal Storage" (root of Internal Storage, don't put it into folders like Download/DCIM/Android, whatver...)
Restart phone (Power button > Restart)
After restart, you'll get a notification, that a new software is available. Yes, install it. Wait until it's complete and you're done!
Update method B:
Download the file - linked above
Put it on your phone's SD card (this only works if you have an sd card in your phone - obviously)
Turn off phone
Hold down Volume Up and Power buttons for a couple of seconds (until the ASUS logo appears)
Choose "Apply update from SD card", choose the zip file and do the update
Reboot after done (or wipe data/cache if you want)
...or you can also use ADB to sideload the file, but I won't detail it now (unless requested).
About Pie notes
Camer is same as before.
Digital Wellbeing app isn't compatible with the device.
New gesture based navigation is working, new dark theme is available in ASUS theme app, new animations are also working.
Thank you for this information. The first method worked well with me.

That's the stable version released today for the Taiwanese SKU
There was a new release from Asus official website featuring the Android Pie (WW_16_0610_1812_58) like three days ago. It was featured in Asus PH and Taiwan, although I checked that two only. Although, it is unavailable since yesterday until now.
Is it safe to update this?

I just got confused because at that time I was accessing several different Asus Website (Taiwan, India, Brazil, USA, Philippines).
Although, I was able to implement the update from

Currently, on the Asus Taiwan official website is the only one with the software update is available when I last checked.

It's dooms day for our units if you proceed.
in that case who responds for the phone failure, the my a3 that I have no longer turns on and I am in Colombia
How will XIAOMI resolve this, I'm in Portugal, this is totally unaceptable!
Update available also on eu rom (11.0.10.0)
I can confirm the the A3 of my cousin is bricked as well (Italy). I've tried everything to try to unbrick it (official and unofficial flashing tools) but nothing really helped. The problem now is that the phone is no longer covered by the warranty and it is really unpredictable what Xiaomi will do to solve this issue.
The only possible solution is to give a free unit to everyone after a huge recall.
incredible that on 2021 a company like xiami roll out a killer update without testing it before. It have the obligation to repair damage. In reverse they will lost credibility...

Slow charging
Chat bubbles not working
