[Qualcomm][MetroPCSXT1765]The Do's/Don't Delete Bloatware Official List - Moto E4 Guides, News, & Discussion

Here is a list of bloatware to safely delete. I've tried it on my freshly flashed stock rom. As always, you are responsible for your own phone, I ascertain no responsibility if you mess up. Do this AT YOUR OWN RISK.:cyclops:
The Metro PCS variant has almost 7GB out of 16GB in use out the box (The system uses 5.6GB by itself), mostly with stock phone apps most people hate anyway. However, the XT1765 is an absolute nightmare if you delete the wrong file - and we're talking about the entire rom crashing and burning and at least four hours trying to get out of a catastrophic crash. I know....personal experience, lol.
You will have to refer to my other guide on how to delete files with ADB, as Titanium Backup and Root Explorer are not going to cut all the mustard for you. For this method I went mostly ADB, with Titanium for smaller apps.
Things to Know Beforehand:
1. If you try to delete from your File Explorer of choice the device will CRASH/FREEZE on you, meaning, you'll have to take the battery out and reboot. And that doesn't mean the delete went though.
2. You will need root. It's imperative when messing around in the system files.
3. The reason why Titanium Backup is failing this mission is because Motorola/Lenovo decided to put some of these pesky roms in the OEM folder to keep you from easily deleting them as if they were just simple apk's. The OEM folder has its own protections to stop you from, dare I say it, cleaning out the bloat on your phone (see #1).
4. Check and check again to ensure files are gone. Sometimes files will appear to be gone and the folders come back on reboot. I have ZERO clue why that happens, but its annoying.
5. Do NOT delete the camera in favor of a better one. Instant DOA.
6. There is a nice list of Moto G safe to delete list floating around that shares some of the package files. Don't be tempted and delete. I tried them and got a CATASTROPHIC ROM FAILURE that resulted in me having to painstakingly start flashing system sparse files, boot files, and everything else to get the phone back. Couldn't even boot into TWRP. You'll see the Do Not Delete List Below.

in case you don't want to bother using a PC or installing titanium .

Well, the thing is, you can "try" deleting the files from the twrp advanced file manager, but it can cause instabilities in the boot. I tried that as a first line of defense after flashing the stock rom and voila, the boot crashed. I dont exactly know what fugly ugly stuff Motorola has attached to that OEM folder, but any playing around with that outside of ADB results in catastrophic failure.
This XT1765 is something else

:good:haha okay I hear you ...i have xt1762 mtk which isn't too difficult ....but yeah even then you need to be careful when removing anything with a Motorola name /extension ..I like using recovery cos you can make a backup as you go along ..and if you can't boot system you can just boot back into recovery and restore to last state before crash ... furthermore changes always stick ( for better or worse ) & no need for a PC .

Be thankful, lol, that you have the Mediatek version. I actually ran into a tizzy deleting bloat from Recovery. Got stuck either on the N/A black screen or if trying to reboot into recovery, the Recovery splash screen! Took 4 hours to get it back, but not before I had to get the very first .xml stock release, special tools to unpack it (winrar just would not do), and then flash first the boot.img, then each one of the sparsechunk files just to get it to run enough to get back to recovery. On the XT1765 they made it harder, or maybe that's a Qualcomm thing, lol. :cyclops::cyclops::cyclops: And get this....all I was trying to do was remove the Moto app.

I guess mediatek has some advantages then after all .. .. sounds like a long day in front of the laptop on a Saturday ... imagine the frustration if you didn't actually like playing around with phones :cyclops:

This isn't about mediatek vs perry as most variants of the latter can be easily modded relative to the apparently pesky XT1765.

Mmm true .. I guess the cheaper they offer them the more bloat they feel you should enjoy..or depending the share holders outlook or philosophy on life ..

Flash GAPPS of your choice, though i recommend pico_gapps, it will automatically remove google bloatwares

Wall of Questions

1) What is: Nandroid, Titanium Backup, Rom Manager, Estrong Manager, AmonRa
to be specific - do I need all of them or just 1-2 of them?
2) What is the difference?
I read some perfer Clockwork Recover while other says there has been issues with it but AmonRa hasnt.
3)Answered
4) Do I really have to WIPE every time I switch (Flash) Rom?
I have read few posts that mention they don't do it and never had an issue.
What is the purpose of Wiping?
5) AOSP?? huh new jargon (working on it)
6) Answered
7) Confirm if im doing this right:
Download (new-rom.zip) - move to sd card - do one of the following: (nandroid, titanium or both?) - turn off phone, turn on to recovery mode, wipe (optional?), factory reset (optional?), wipe cache/delv (optional?), install zip, yada yada yada...?
8) What happens if I get (insert ROM) and open it's zip, remove the stuff I want out than rezip and load? good idea or bad idea?
9) What is a Launcher? how many types of Launcher are there? Adw, Pro, X, Y, Z?
I'll think of more later on. Sorry for the massive noob question. Im constantly reading the dev section forums and seeing several jargons im not fully understanding and alot of apps that some uses over the other.
dude, these are beyond noob questions.
every question in your post can easily be answered with a few minutes of searching.
I'm almost tempted to answer your questions but you need to learn this stuff, and not by having it spoon-fed to you, not to mention the subject matters you ask about would take a great deal of my precious time to explain. You read enough to get your phone rooted without bricking it, keep up the reading.
We all learned a ton of new stuff when we first got into android phones. Those with LINUX experience had a shorter learning curve, I for one had zero experience with LINUX. And most of us learned it by SEARCHING and READING. The more of this stuff you learn by your own research the better, you will have an actual understanding of how these things work.
If you want I will answer ONE of the above questions, in depth. Your choice..
Im constantly reading and I getting alot of contradiction answers. Thus im trying to break each one apart on pro/con. I guess my main concern that a search won't find an answer would be:
6) How do I get access into the Internal Memory?
caused I have searched using (internal storage, internal memory) and been unable to find an answer to it.

Get a file explorer. They work very similarly to explorer windows in Windows. You'll be able to see the file structure, remove files you don't want, add ones you want, move stuff around (which is especially useful for managing your sdcard)
I prefer Root Explorer, but it's a paid app. If you want a free option just to get your feet wet then get Astro File Manager from the market and start poking around just DO NOT DELETE ANYTHING unless you KNOW what it is and KNOW you don't want it anymore.
One tip regarding removing apps.. if you're not sure what the outcome will be you can add something like ".bak" to the end of the filename which essentially makes the file invisible to the system without removing it yet.
Although if it's a system critical apk then you might get a boot loop, in which case you will need a nandroid backup ready to restore.
what im currently doing now is constantly flashing 2.2 stock
I read titanium removes apps and I learned Sprint Zone = promotional.apk that is required to stay on to use *2 *3 dial...
But the .bak thing is nice, basically if I can't remove it, I still be able not to see it.
now as far as the .bak is concern - where do I rename it from? from the root explorer app? just long press it & rename the .xxx to .bak? or .xxx.bak?
you do not need sprint zone for anything
rename or remove files using a file explorer, and I don't know what you mean by "if I can't remove it".. you can remove any file using a file explorer
I usually just add .bak to whatever extension is already there. So if you're using LauncherPro and want to see if removing rosie.apk causes any problems (it wont, you can do without it just fine as long as you have another launcher installed) rename it to rosie.apk.bak and reboot
alright, btw I tried astro and it only shows me the folders/app of my SD card.
Im not looking to mess with those.
I want to view the Internal phone memory and possibly the Bios.
Second, with Astrofile - Let's say Amazonmp3 - im able to find that but within the stock2.2 rom.zip - removing from that zip wont change anything though unless I re-flash it, correct?
I am under the impression, once I flash a rom.zip, I can remove that rom.zip out of the sd card. the info is stored internally or in the bios. That is where I want to get acess to.
I know through titanium - if I find amazonmp3 and un-install from there, it removes from my phone.
there is no bios on android
astro's default view is the sdcard, you can go up one level and see all the system folders
yes, once you flash the rom you can remove the rom's zip from your sdcard but you might as well leave it in case you need to reflash it

Deodexed & Zipaligned /system for VZW Tab

So, yeah. This is deodexed & zipaligned System. It will overwrite your /system partition so any changes you have made (theme, hosts file, etc...) will be lost. In addition to the deodexed /app and /framework folders this will add a transparent notification bar and ad blocking host file. Why? Cause, I made this for myself, so it's the way I like it. Flash this if you want, I'm not forcing you to. Nor will I be held responsible if it eats your first born or tries (succeeds) to commit suicide. You've been warned. If you just want the deodexed files, I'll leave the manual method below and you can do it the hard way. Maybe I'll get the update-script working at some point, but I don't know. If you're good with the new sytax for CWM's update script, hit me up in IRC, I'm stumped.
Note: As I said, this formats your /system partition. Not your /data partition, so all your apps and such will still be there.
So, Once More
What you get:
Deodexed & zipaligned (ready to theme) system
Transparent Notification Bar
Ad blocking host file
No warranty
No mobileprint apk. I couldn't get it deodexed no matter what I tried and can't be bothered to try anymore. Never used it. Never will.
Nandroid Recovery Method
YOU MUST HAVE CWM RECOVERY INSTALLED
use either the bootstrapper from the market or follow his instructions found HERE be careful and use this at your own risk, it is very beta. I recommend doing a backup from it before you flash this as well.
How To Flash
extract the folder to /sdcard/clockworkmod/backup
Boot in to CWM Recovery go to advanced restore, select restore /system only. Once that is complete clear the cache, reboot. you can then delete your dalvik cache (note: clearing the dalvik cache doesn't work via CWM currently). That's it.
If you have anything go wildly crazy, lemmie know. Also, I doubt it's success on any other carriers version of Tab, but if you feel like it, go ahead, I already gave you responsibility for your own actions. Do what you want with it. If it works though, let us know.
Oh yeah- Download if you feel like it.
ODIN Restore Method
Flash via Odin PDA PDA PDA PDA PDA PDA PDA
If you need any more instructions on how to flash via odin, search.
Download the tar HERE
OLD PITA BORING MANUAL METHOD
FIRST
So, Back up your system first. Wait, yeah, you can't in recovery yet, so seriously people- don't touch this yet unless you know what you're doing since you won't have a supersimplehappynice backup to revert to if you mess up. Only the cold, cold darkness that is Factory Reset.
I haven't been able to manually deodex these successfully yet. If anyone has, please, hook me up and I'll update the package (or I'll update it when I get around to deodexing them).
What are these for???
These files will allow you to theme your Tab, some say it speeds up your system and others say it allows you to get all the ladies and even others think it's a threat to democracy so PROCEED WITH CAUTION.
What do I do with these???
Okay, this isn't hard, but it's easy to get a negative result if you skip a step so keep reading, follow the directions and don't blame me if you are singled out for the 3D imaging system at the airport.
Basically you want to use ADB push or Root explorer to delete the apks/jars/odex/*.* in /system/app and /system/framework and then replace them with the files from the archive (the archive has an app and a framework folder for you, I think you know where each belongs).
Now if you use root explorer to delete everything from /framework, things will get sticky for a minute and you'll get some FC's and such, but I was able to copy all the files over, so just be patient.
Also, remember how I told you to read the directions? KEEP READING OR YOU'LL MISS IMPORTANT STUFFS. So, hi there. You shake the boredom out of between your ears and giving me your full attention again? Good. Now is important. You are really going to want to clear both your normal, and dalvik chache. Otherwise you're going to reboot and your phone is going to be slower than an Audi R8. You can do this with cache cleaner, recovery (if you're running noobln's script) or adb. I used recovery for standard cache and this adb command.
Code:
adb remount
adb shell rm -rf /system/sd/dalvik-cache
Then just reboot and start porting some themes over for me (revolution plzkthx).
A couple of notes:
All these are from a VZW Tab. Will they work on your T-mobile one? Well, find out, if you want, or not. I don't care. Just don't come crying to me if you screw up your phone. I did not put a gun to your head and force you to use these files.
Also, if you screw up your Tab, for the love of the gawds, it's not bricked, calm down.
I suppose you want the download link, huh.
Here you go for the manual files.
Finally, if you like my work, donate to me so I can donate money to devs that make my world easier (and therefore yours).

any chance of a deodexed email.apk as it's not in there?
Any screenshots of what the themed versions can potentially look like? Need to weigh up the pro's / con's of being "experimental"
Thanks

Darn it, I'm sorry, I meant email.apk and not browser.apk. I haven't been able to deodex that apk yet. Sorry I should have it done soon but in the mean time you can use gmail or go back to an odexed FS. Original post updated.

They look exactly the same as on your Tab, just without being odexed. This is not a theme, nor does it change the appearance of any of these applications. It changes the way they function within the OS and allows for the ability to theme.
I mean absolutely zero offense by this, but if you're weighing out the pros/cons of doing this, you probably shouldn't. Just wait a while longer for recovery to be functional, then people will start putting out easily flashable ROMs and themes.
Sorry i misunderstood.
I thought they had been edited / themed already from the initial description..
Its been a long day. Im a risk taker anyways but ill pass for time being.
Keep up the good work.

Actually, I just got email deodexed.
HERE YOU GO
I'll have the other remaining apks out soon.
very kind.
I want to try it on my dell streak but the odexed email.apk kept force closing.
Let me know if it works.
f.c. as soon as you launch it.
i'll see if it needs any framework stuff added to work tomorrow.
Hi Boushh,
After removing files in both folders it FCs many and froze. It won't reboot now. Let me know what I did wrong. No compliants like you mentioned. Any rescue?
Thanks
Like I said, you'll get that, I was able to copy them over with root explorer between the FC's. If you can not easily do that, plug it in and adb push it.
Added a flashable zip to the first post, happy holidays guys and gals!
I tried the flashable zip with CWM, but it aborts when install.
How can I clear cache & dalvik cache in CWM. There is only with the clear data/factory reset.
Can you tell me the exact error that recovery prints?
I'm almost positive *clear cache* is in the root of recoveries settings and then *clear dalvik cache* is under advanced.
Error is "Installation aborted"
I use the CW Bootstrap recovery, then reboot recovery that purchased from Market for "Bootstrap for Tab".
Select install zip in SD card. Wipe clear cache & in advance for clear dalvik cache. It's still installation aborted.
Okay, I need to change something in the install script, illtry and do it in the next couple hours.
If you ever get the other apk's integrated into the update.zip, I'd be happy to give a test run on my VZW tab.
I did the manual files delete and paste before, but froze the Tab and non bootable anymore. I'm on my second tab, definitely need the update zip for this.
Sent from my SCH-I800 using XDA App
Just an update- I got back from vacation last nightand need a day to recover but I plan in fixing the zip tomorrow.
Also, regarding the mobile print apk, I have tried using every resource possible to deodex it without success so I've given up on it. I blame bad coding, lol.
If any of you care about quadrant scores (which I don't) I was recently asked what I was getting, around 1150-1170. So a bit better I than stock I suppose bit I only deodex for themes really.

[Q] how can i restore system apk.

First off I'd like to start off by saying that I am kind of an idiot...with that said; I like to mess around with important files on my device(Acer a100) even though I have absolutely no clue what I'm doing.
Using titanium backup I uninstalled that download system apk. The one with the green icon and the white arrow pointing down. Now when I try to restore it through tit. Backup it will just freeze and keep saying that it is restoring and I have to finally force close titanium. I have also tried messing around with permissions in root explorer, fixing permissions in rom manager, navigating to system/app and installing it manually through a file explorer( get message install fail), and hard resetting.
The main problem is that everything I download will show in my notification bar and after I close/exit them they come back 5-30 min later. If I click on the download in my notification(not on the x) then my notification bar just closes. I can kinda fix this by turning my notifications off or cleaning data/cache on ?download storage? Apk/app.
Does anyone know of an easy fix for restoring this system apk. For there are no custom roms or recovery sources for this device that I have seen yet.
Thank-you, Robb
Get the system.apk file from the roms here

i tried downloading those recovery files and twice they came back saying they were corrupted, is there any way someone can just upload the system file i need from their a100...its the downloads apk. the green icon with a white arrow pointing down

PM me with your email address, I'll email you the apk from my A100, I'm still running the stock rom that I pulled it out of the box with.
You can download it straight to your tab from your email, beforee you do, get a file manager (like es file manager) from the market. You will be able to get to your downloads folder from there and install it.
ummmmm............ could you repeat that?

He's got Root Explorer, that should do the trick.
To the OP: You are mounting the system partition R/W in Root Explorer when you try this, aren't you? Hate to ask a dumb question but.....
Yes I am hitting that button up top on root explorer changing it from r/w to r/o but I think some how I just got the wrong apk....after titanium wouldn't restore it I think I remember copying apk. From my phone (g2x) and attempting to restore those...dumb, I know I might of tried changing the names of the apk. Too,..like I say I f*** with s*** I have no business Fu****** with. I will p.m. my email now maybe I can get a screen shot of the system files if anyone feels up to it, so I can cross check proper name and sizes
How about just reinstalling the 3.2.1 update that is in the developer section. There should be no reason to factory reset since it is the same version. I have soft bricked mine a few times and I have just did the update again.
I even upgraded from whatever version the device shipped with to 3.2.1 without wiping the data.
A100 development section??? I see three a100 recovery downloads and one a101 recovery in our development section but when I download them i t says they were corrupted...if those are what your talking about...which one exactly should I use and what do I do with the file after words???
----sorry two that say a101 and two a100
So should I use file Id # 115,116,117,or 109
Use the one in this post. It is already decrypted. The ones in the frist post need to be decrypted using the Acer decryption tool. I have used the one I linked to probably 20 times. Once you run the update you will have to re-root the tablet.
thank-you all..recovered and fixed!!!
I was able to fix my problem by using the recovery update zips. But I want to thank everyone that helped, and remind people from experience to freeze unwanted system apps instead of uninstlling in titanium backup.u
Very important advice also is to search and read before starting new posts. I could have saved some time and headache just by doing that...the answers were just a couple paragraphs away the whole time.

[IDEA] Android rescue.zip project..

So i am here with a new idea. A rescue.zip which can be used to rescue any android device which have a recovery like the famous cwm.
So here is it..
Some times we people screw up our android os like hell, and to reboot the device we usualy do a recovery flash of a new os, flash back our nandroid backup ( both on worst conditions) or even do permission fix, clean cache or dalvic cache( those in 'not that worse' conditions) . So thats are all the options we got. Rit?
Although flashing recovery backups, new roms can fix all, it will also eatup our apps, current setups, contacts, msgs, etc( in case we dont have backups) and will probably screw us. All we can do is say " WTF..WTF..WTF.."
SO here is my idea,
Find out the causes of what causes a reboot, non-boot, hang,fc etc.
And keep a zip that can be flashed through recovery, that has a solution for our problem. They may be including..
1) fix permission of system, data, and user data.
2) zipalign the apps
3) fix the default clock speed of processor
4) defragment memory
5) flash a new copy of su and busy box
6)wipe data or system or ext or cache or dalvic cache
7) flash a new copy of framework.res, system-ui.apk, settings.apk with default permissions( those files are kept in separate "custom" folder on the zip, so that end user can put their own files to that "custom" folder for flashing., the reason behind it is known to all, yap. Not all devices have them in common, every device have its own files)
These are all i got for now, pls post ur ideas and knowledge for any possible cure about any problem u faced/ cured. So that we can make it an ultimate rescue.zip that have a cure for 99% problems android os have. The rest 1% will go with a clean flash.( well we cant avoid that if we did something that bad).
So my plan is to use aroma installer( now on hard learning to find how it works). Throw in some scripts, files etc. Into the zip.
And since its not a device specific .zip file, i want to know how and why any problems are caused in any device( there are many common problems, but that is not what i ask for. I ask for device/os specific problems, and not for a problem that we can cure after booting, but for a problem that can make the device un-bootable) . So u people may help me to find those problems and cures for it. For my knowledge i have experience with wildfire and hd2.
Well i will keep this thread for a week or two, so that u can post ur knowledge, and info. after that i will release the file for u.
To the admin. Of the forum, pls keep this thread as announcement so that all can take a look.
HYPERDROID EXTREEM EDITION-THE NEW BENCHMARK ROM FOR HD2.
If you plan to do this available to any android device, the file size will be so big that it will become useless. Every phone has different apk, and not only that, but those apk are different in different version of os. For example, CM9 framework should not work on google release. Worst, older CM9 framework might not work on newer CM9 and newer framework might not work on older. Also, one of the cause of bootloop that i have been experiencing since i have my GNexus is data corruption of apps. The only way i had was to wipe data. I dont think there is a way to know if your app are corrupted with script. I also seen a lot of strange problem on SGS II like the kernel being erased. Well, in this case this package would be useless. So i guess that having this package would be awesome, but wont happen. My best advice is that you could create a universal guide on how to recover from bootloop/fc/hang with the minimum of impact on the phone. This is just my opinion tho.

You could add using flags in the updates filename, see some roms or themes for the lg optimus 2x for more information. It uses sed. For example, "update-wc-wd.zip" would wipe /data and /cache.
You could also merge these features in a customized clockwork mod recovery, the up side would be that you could automatically make a backup of the last flashed full ROM's systemui etc. this would also allow usage of the touch screen/volume keys to choose an repair option. You could even allow users to backup specific applications along with their data, and let users restore it later on after a fresh flash. I have some basic knowledge in modifying the recovery so I might help you out a little if you're interested.

I told it already, the "custom" folder is not filled. It will be kept empty. The user can put a file, which ofcourse is the file of the device he/she have or want to get repaired. All he has to do is copy and paste the file from the working zip( zip file of his currently installed rom, that encounter the problem) of his rom to the custom folder inside the rescue.zip.
And the things that are common will be scripts, but those too will contains device specific mound points, paths, etc. I think that will be common( ie, the working of script, once the mound is done). Am i right?
So all i have to figure out is mount points, paths etc.. i got a couple of them, about 15 or so. And pls help me to find the rest.

a good idea to add is a file system chech like windows systems has. By installing a rom the installer should first check for bad sectors and mem blocks before installing the rom. After all blocks and sectors are scanned and the bad ones marked as "bad or corrupt" it should run something like defrag and place the bad blocks at the end of the file table. When all is done .. then the true rom install should start.
This will prevent heaps of problems since the curent installs just write over a bad block or sector creating the most weird problems. A fault checker/repair will take away a lot of strange forced closes and othere software/hardware failures.
Most phones wont last that long so that bad blocks or sectors can occure. But for the flashing junkies among us its a serious problem what can occure. I guess after 1000 or more installs bad sectors or blocks will occure and not all are being able to be repaired

I am totaly newbee to lg. I have experience with htc, few samsung, etc. So can u pm me the details? Also is it usable to create recovery? I think a zip file with selectable options is more friendly. The thing is building a recovery wont make it universal( or atleast common for a couple of devices) and we will have to port them for each and every device. Thats the problem.
But any way i want ur help in building it. Can u pm me an example for mounding script in lg devices? And any thing that may become useful. Thank you.

I'll send this as a PM as well, but people might learn from this. I am not talking about any specific mount points for LG phones, I just pointed out that there are some roms which use sed to check the filename of its update.zip and do tasks according to that, you need to have one line in your updater script to run the script which detects what to do. That way a user of a Galaxy Nexus would rename it to update-maguro.zip and it would know to use mount points for the maguro, while if the exact same update.zip was to be named update-p990.zip, it would know to use the mount points for the LG optimus 2x. This way you could easily keep the zip up to date for any device, because they all use the same update.zip
About the recovery, you would need to build it for every phone once, but you could make one change to the recovery source and easily compile the recovery for all phones which are capable of running CWM. I believe this method to be more user friendly, as a recovery image has support for actually choosing what you want to do, instead of having to rename the file. A recovery image also has a better way of communicating with the user. Where a update.zip can only say "Hey, I had an error and I'm quitting now, I won't give you any details what the problem was because that's just how update.zips roll", a recovery image would be able to give more advanced outputs, like "An error occurred when trying to mount /data." And then give you the option to either try again, manually fix it by using a computer with adb, or quitting.
But that's just my personal opinion. The recovery would be way harder to make, but I was the original porter of CM6, CM7 and HTC Sense to the xperia mini pro and mini back in the days. I also made a custom recovery and roms for the HTC desire Z, maintain a CWM port for the HTC Chacha which I don't even own and have used the LG optimus 2x before. (currently a maguro owner) but I'm trying to say that I've been experimenting a lot with different phones and know what the possibilities of Android are. you could even make a live Android build, tailored for recovering your phone, which is ran by an update.zip! How cool is that? That would be VERY device specific though..
let me know what you think is the best way to do this. I was thinking of making a mobile time machine app for some time so it's good I saw this thread.

Device is Rooted,Still Cannot Remove Bloatware

My device is rooted.
I've read a few other topics regarding this issue, but I'm still confused. As I understand it, using typical uninstall apps such as Titanium or Root Uninstaller do not remove the manufacturer apps from the phone still because of an S feature? I'm new to this process, so please forgive my naive rhetoric. I tried those programs, and as previously stated in other posts, the bloatware comes back.
I installed AROMA file manager to try and manually find the bloatware and delete the physical files, but I can't find the files that I'm looking to delete. I don't mind taking the time and manually deleting these unnecessary files, but, I need some guidance on where to look (or any other viable solutions.)
Thanks for your time!
Download this patch and edit update-binary file what application need remove then flash via recovery mode .

HTC devices are set "S on" from the manufacture. That means there are certain partitions in the nand storage that you can't access without S off ( boot partition, radio partition). The write permissions to the system partition are also not accessible unless you either obtain S off through the Sunshine app which costs $25 or a another option that is not true S off is a write permission mod called WP.MOD_ko that you flash to your phone and it installs a script and changes your phone's SElinux permissions and enables the system partition write permissions to be able to uninstall system apps or fully use certain root apps like Link2SD that also need the system write permissions at bootup.
1st option " fully" unlocks your phone and all partitions. 2nd option just installs scripts to kind of trick your system partition to allow apps to write to it and you to be able to uninstall system apps. It also changes your SElinux permissions from enforcing to permissive so be aware that's disabling the phone's security system. Not a problem unless you get malware but you should be aware of what any mod does to your phone. They have to do that because the mod can't get the phone to be true S off so this is a workaround for that one partition.

Okay cool, thank you for breaking that down for me. So, if I use what pham posted, then that would be a script change? But, even if it were a script change I could still fully uninstall the bloatware, with the risk of a potential virus. Is that correct?

You're welcome. I'm not familiar with what Pham linked you but I'm sure it's similar to the 2nd option I mentioned. The one I was referring to was written for lollipop versions by CaptainTitti I believe is his handle but if you search XDA for our phone WP_MOD.ko that forum should be for kit Kat and a few pages forward is the link to the lollipop version with instructions from CaptainTitti on how to install it. The malware risk is minimal i just wanted to mention it. You have that as well with just rooting and also full S off it's just those 2 leave your SElinux permissions set to enforcing not permissive. Just giving you the info so your informed because no one but us pays for our devices so we should have as much info as possible I believe but good info .
The only one of these I've actually tried is the full S off one with Sunshine so understand and read the whole forum for the other before flashing so you know all the feedback but it does work. Also be aware that the WP_MOD.ko would have to be fully removed and SElinux reenabled to be able to do stock updates and there's not just an " uninstall" box with them. You have to use a root file explorer and remove what was changed and replace with the stock files I believe. Good idea to do a stock Android backup using your custom recovery before flashing any of these, S off excepted as it doesn't mess with doing stock updates. Not knocking the others but these are the things you don't find out about till after you flash them. Now you know before.
Below is the link to the forum page for the kitkat mod and if you scroll down a bit CaptainTiiti had a link to the one for lollipop.

Can't you just use Root Browser, then go to system/app & system/priv-app to remove the bloat? That's what I do on my phone everytime I install a new ROM [emoji1]

I don't know my friend I've never tried that. Maybe he can try it first and see if it works. To be honest I never tried to just remove system apps before i was S off I just read of all the people here on XDA saying they couldn't without S off so I did it. Turns out I switched to debloated CM roms soon after and never even debloated my stock rom, which definitely needed it ! I used Titanium backup to debloat my Samsung tablet after root to get rid of Knox and Samsung junk but it wasn't nand locked like the HTC's are. Can't hurt for him to try it because S off costs and the other mods have their down sides also.
i have completely deleted their bloatware folder, but bloatware will appear if the device boots without root and there is no app folder in user app or system folder but they can run and update normally, maybe it specially designed. Will the above patch zip help me clear the problem completely? i want to clean up the crap, and my device uses system as root so i need to flash modified binary in boot.img separately after signing.
