Exactly, only plain old Vanilla voicemail shows up

Can't you install it from the play store?

MetroPCS does have their own visual voicemail app in the store, have you tried the app?

Yea iknow about it but i want to use the Samsung VVM app. So i im trying to get into on how to make it happen ?

MetroPCS used to charge 5 bucks for that, is it free now? Possible all you need to do would be call them and have them push out a cfg file.
EDIT: I just realized that it's not showing on my phone. All I had to do was call Consumer Cellular and they enabled it on my phone. I was told that they enable it by customer request because many customers like myself just swap sims without calling in and they don't know if the customers phone supports it.

After doing some research it looks like the visual voicemail on the S9 has major problems. Many people are talking about this on the Samsung Forums. I downloaded the AT&T app and it works well though. I get a pop-up when a voicemail is available and it works seamlessly.

it's possible but about the cfg. i know thats the case with the iphone.
But to correcty you on the SIM, they marry sim to the IMEI so you have to call in order to swap.

You may have to call to swap on MetroPCS but I don't. I called and got it enabled but like all those folks in Samsung Forums, it's not available in my dialer but the AT&T app works perfectly.

I called metro and just told them it wasn't working. VVM. they didn't fix and actually after 10 minutes of being on hold the customer rep hung up on me
I used nova launcher to look at someone of the hidden/dormant apps and such so i know it exists. maybe this is something that would take some grunt work to unlock on our devices lol

I guess I'm lucky the app works because that is my only option. Apparently if you purchas an unlocked phone to bypass some of the carrier junk you also don't get some of the carrier features. Samsung has this to say about unlocked phones and visual voicemail in particular.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Thank you for contacting Samsung Technical Support.
We understand that you want to know why Visual Voicemail is not available in the phone. We will provide you with available information.
We are unable to speculate which model phone you are referring to.
If you are referring to latest Samsung US model unlocked version phones, the Visual Voicemail option will not available in the unlocked phones.
If carrier provides Visual Voicemail services for unlocked phones you can use them in the unlocked version phone.
As you are referring to AT&T carrier you cannot use the Visual Voicemail service in the phone as the AT&T will not provide Visual Voicemail for unlocked phones.
Carriers like Sprint and T-Mobile provide Visual Voicemail for the unlocked phones.
We cannot include Visual Voicemail feature in the phone.

It possibly should for you. Actually I'm glad I'm not forced to use Samsung's dialer. I like the Google dialer much better and since AT&T isn't going to let me have VV on the default dialer, I can use the AT&T app along with the dialer I like.

Got Mango on ATT - No Visual Voicemail

So I got the update on the leading edge. Still no VVM under phones on ATT. Called and they say the phone doesn't support it... Of course none of them even know anything about the phone or that there was an update today.
Should we all call in and make them think about this?
I think ATT only supports VVM on the iphone. I don't think it's even on android phones. Somebody correct me if I'm wrong.
They support iPhones and... Get this RIM Blackberries!
What is their issue?
if they do it for us it will cost us
I wish they had it, I have to use youmail and gv, youmail for visual vm and gv for transcription. Wish I had an all in one.
I used those products in the past and it kept getting out of sync, so I just gave up. How simple could it be for ATT to just "flip a switch".

I did that and now have the RTM. However how do we know this is the AT&T matched firmware with the Focus? Since that hasn't been released yet according to the wheresmyphoneupdate website.
Also would you mind running a test on your focus? Download the application called "Bandwidth" and run a 3G test. Let me know your best results. I'm getting terrible results even with the new RTM and Samsung update package.

Programs which relied on Samsung specific drivers are updated and working (compass, etc), which shows this is a carrier ROM. Also, the phone update website has been updated since 10 AM PST to show that the updates are being delivered - I updated at 10:15 AM PST.
Also, sooo many variables affect bandwidth that that isn't a very definitive test on how the update is. Especially with the new network ATT is putting in place.
Please wait for a chat representative to respond.
Welcome to AT&T Chat. My name is 'Kathy Williams' and I’ll be happy to assist you today.
Kathy Williams: I apologize that you are having problems with your Visual Voicemail, Mr.
Kathy Williams: I will be happy to assist you.
: thank you
: I looked everything up on how to set it up but for some reason it is not showing up in settings
: i was informed that I need to have ATT do somethign on their side to "turn on" VVM
Kathy Williams: Please allow me one moment to pull up your account.
Kathy Williams: Did this new update include Visual Voicemail for your phone?
: yes
: All windows phones were updated today and the update includes VVM
: all i need is the "switch" or whatever turned on so that my service allows access to it
Kathy Williams: I apologize but we do not show Visual Voicemail available on your phone at this time.
Kathy Williams: I do not show that we are supporting that feature on this phone yet.
: do you show the Samsung Focus S in your system yet?
Kathy Williams: Yes sir. It has been in our system for awhile.
: does that phone support VVM?
Kathy Williams: No sir.
: ok...
: ATT states they are the premier carrier for windows phones but doesnt offer visual voice mail yet?
: is there any way to find out if they ever will?
Kathy Williams: No on that phone yet. We only have it on the iPhone and Blackberry at this time.
Kathy Williams: I am sure we will offer it. However it is not available right now.
: and there is no way to find out if or when though?
Kathy Williams: We do not have any information at this time, Mr.
WTF!!!
Tom Warren with PC Mag reported on twitter a while ago that hes hearing from sources that AT&T will offer VVM for our phones within the next 30 days, lets hope that is the case!
Anyone that forced Mango today on ATT just got the same RTM Mango version that has been available for awhile with a manual install. You may have got a firmware update from Samsung that enabled the Compass, but you didn't get the ATT Carrier customized Mango yet.
Once you get that if it doesnt have VVM and Mobile Hotspots then feel free to complain.
Um, im on at&t and got it legitly and i dont have vvm yet. at&t is not supporting it yet...

I forced and my firmware is AT&T (as labeled LG-C900AT) and there's no VVM option.

I don't know how many times it has to be said. AT&T does not currently support Visual Voicemail on Windows Phone 7 or Android, only on iPhone and BlackBerry. It will take upgrades on their back end before we see Visual Voicemail.

International HOX on AT&T

Hi all,
I've got a few quick questions that I was not able to find the direct answer to in other threads.
1) I'm using an unlocked international HOX on AT&T. I'm on firmware version 1.5 and am unable to get the phone to update. Do I have to do something out of the norm for the phone to see an update?
2) I saw the answer the other thread about Google Wallet being disabled in the States. Is there an APK or something I can load that will allow google wallet to work?
I'm coming from an Iphone 4S and this phone rocks!
Thanks for the help guys!

1. No, updates are pushed out in batches so your batch must not have received it yet.
2. If you have Google Wallet it will work just fine, it does on the Nexus.

As stated in the other threads, I'm able to download Google Wallet but it says that it is not available in my region (SE United States). I'm wondering why the Nexus and other phones are able to use Wallet on AT&T but the international/unlocked version of the One X isen't.. Strange..
In regards to the update, has anyone in the US been able to upgrade past 1.5?
Thanks all!

Yes. Do a Google search as that's how people got it working on the VZW GN early on. A word of caution. Using the hack leaves all of your GW data open to any apps you have running on your phone. I want GW but, IMHO, it's not worth the risk.
just tried to download. installs, but won't open - not yet certified on device/carrier. i'm on at&t prepaid. wonder if anything will change once at&t lte is widely sold? not a biggie for me personally, but something to think about when it comes down to deciding on which version of the one x to purchase.

i am too much of a noob at this to have truly useful info. i'm in hawaii. i bought a micro-sim off amazon and signed up for the minimal $2/day when used unlimited talk/text plan plus a small data package, because i don't talk/text very much and i'm usually at home, where i have my own wi-fi set up. so having at&t is a fallback for when i'm out and about. that being said, phone calls are clear. checking email and, for example, pulse news service via at&t has been excellent. the one x is notably faster than my acer tablet. haven't tried mms, but i think it should work pretty well; email with a downloaded file that had been pdf'd whizzed through to my laptop, as did a screen cut of photos using dolphin, though that was off home wi-fi. don't see why at&t wouldn't work as well. what i'm waiting for now is to find out if i can get a good bluetooth headset to work (voice commands and all). if so, i may move to another plan so i can use the phone more extensively and downgrade my landline service to the absolute minimum.
All right. Sent a couple of photos via mms from my net10 phone to the one x w/ home wi-fi off. Net10 is running off Sprint in Hawaii. No problemo. Everything came through fine - and quickly.
Looks to me like the big issue for some of the non-techies like me who aren't about to fumble with rooting might be accessing U.S. only apps. Hoping that won't apply to bluetooth headset usability too.

i updated the other thread re non-availability of certain apps on non-us htc one x, but for those on at&t like me with unrooted phones, i will add the info here as well. i managed to download google voice on my one x (at&t prepaid) by using dolphin hd browser to google search "google voice." when the results page came up, i clicked the link that took me to the play store and downloaded. the app opened and seems to be working fine. i was unable to download it by going to the play store directly, so the browser may add some kind of filter which makes this possible?
i can't be totally sure that all google voice options will work, because i chose to install the "lite" version - i only wanted my voicemail kicked back to my phone to avoid having to use the phone to check voicemail. (i'm on the $2/day unlimited text/talk plan and if i have to use the phone only to check a random voicemail, i'm throwing my money away.) called my one x from my landline phone and a still-in-use net10 phone and left messages. seems to work. i used my gmail account as the voicemail recipient. no google phone number.
additional info for anyone planning to use a sophisticated bluetooth headset like blueant q2. i purchased one that was at&t branded. does not function completely. the most critical features - voice commands, voice dialing - are not supported in ics, so while the blueant will pair and one could presumably answer an incoming call, the other key features are unavailable. this appears to be a function of ics and not of at&t, though i assume at&t could tweak its own branded htc one x's to overcome that? i have a jawbone era coming in maybe next week and plan to purchase one of the apps available in the play store to test both headsets at the same time. the app's developer told me he has been trying to get his app to work smoothly with ics. it already handles the blueant in other versions of android.

I'm using a Q2 also. The problem isn't ICS; it's HTC. They left "voice dialer" out of thier ROM. I found APK's from other ICS devices but they don't work. Either a dev has to create one or HTC has to include one for native voice dialing to work. In the meantime I'm using Vlingo. When you use the "in car" mode the phone listens for commands over BT after you say "hey, Vlingo." You can also dictate texts and have incoming texts read back. When you activate it on the Q2 by saying "phone command," it starts up and is listening even though the Q2 says "feature not available." It's not too battery friendly though. Not perfect, but workable.
thanks for the info. is your phone rooted?
everything i found on the net elsewhere says it's android that is the problem re voice dialing - that development was dropped even before ics. does vlingo support announcing incoming caller id on the q2? and follow through on the answer/ignore response? (really, for someone who doesn't use the call function much, i am being very picky. but sophisticated means it should do all things well.)

I'm stock. Vlingo lite is free in the Market so play around with it.
mine will hopefully be here Fri, Mon, or Tue. i didn't think to try to get on a free phone's plan, so i'm getting robbed every month paying $70 (7% student discount wow thanks) for 2 GB, 450 mins (over 400 of which i don't use), and zero text. as soon as i can, i'm switching to Red Pocket. i also thought there was some way ATT was catching people with smartphones on gophone cards and turning their data off or something, to force them to come in and get the 4G sim and pay more. if not, good deal. i stay on wifi, but if i'm out and need data and it's too slow, then i won't be happy.

i just switched to AT&T and have been using GV for years on Sprint. Like to know if the issues are m10 GV or AT&T.

No, he means did you set it up to forward to your AT&T number? If you switch carriers you have to set it up all over again.

Did you also dial the new forwarding number? You have to dial *004*xxx-xxx-xxxx# to actually set the forwarding correctly.

I've had this issue with all of the european custom ROMS. they don't support call forwarding or Volte on ATT. I've done extensive testing on this issue with the M8 and M9 as well and it's something to do with the telephony apk and libs on the wwe base.
This is a pain, but the quickest way to setup GV on a custom wwe (401) based rom, is make a full backup your custom ROM in TWRP, restore your stock system (617 I'm assuming), setup GV, then restore your custom ROM. You MIGHT need to wipe data after you restore stock, but I would try without wiping first. If you still get the error in call forwarding menu, then go back to twrp and wipe data too.

I also have the same issue with GV on AT&T. But this issue preceded the arrival of my HTC 10. I used GV over AT&T successfully on my HTC One M8 for over 2 years, but somehow in the last couple of months it stopped working and kept going to AT&T voice mail. Same behaviour on my new HTC 10. I think it's something with AT&T network.
PS I'm fully stock, Unlocked US edition HTC 10.

How old is your sim card? I know this sounds like a stock solution from no-nothing ATT support, but Volte and call forwarding didn't work on my wife's A9 until I got her a new sim card instead of the old one from her iphone 5. Of course, that doesn't really explain why it would suddenly stop working.
If you are truly stock, call forwarding should work. What happens when you go to call forwarding settings in your call settings? Does your AT&T VM number show up, or do you get an unexpected network error?
Anyway, if it IS an att network issue, it's not happening in my area. Call forwarding is working as expected here.
The easiest way would be to borrow someone else's ATT phone, put your SIM in, set the call forwarding, transfer SIM. The network stores your values. If that doesn't work, it's an ATT issue with SIM provisioning and your best bet for fixing that is getting a new SIM and starting over.

There is no AT&T 10. They decided not to carry it.

Any ATT phone will work. The call forwarding moves with the SIM, not the phone. I have T-Mobile and when I was trying out TPO mobile, I had my T-Mobile SIM in my Leon. I set my Leon to forward all calls to my TPO number and put the TPO SIM in my Note 5. When I decided I was going to keep T-Mobile, I took the SIM from my Leon and placed it back in my Note 5 and all of my call forwarding settings went with the SIM.

You're right.
It's the same reason the method I proposed works. I just had a brain cramp when I responded to your first post.

We all have them lol.
The issue is because of VoLTE/HDVoice. You cannot provision those on a proper build.
Go online to ATT.com and click on the support tab, open a chat and have a tech manually set your conditional forwarding options.
I just had to do this myself.
You can try to hack around it as mentioned above but it doesn't tend to stick and will need to be reset. Online support is the only way to properly get it configured.

I seem to have to do that once a month or so. It keeps getting jazzed up all the time. To the point of my just sticking with stupid att visual voicemail instead.
Also, after resetting my phone, I lost HD voice options on this HTC 10 ?

I've made a few posts about this, there is a provisioning bug that doesn't process the carrier XMLs/.prop's properly.
After a reset or anything similar be sure to boot the phone WITHOUT the SIM installed, let it fully boot and get through the welcome/setup portion until you see the home screen.
Then insert the SIM and you should trigger the carrier provisioning option. It'll tell you it needs to reboot and then should allow you to pick the carrier and finish provisioning.
Alternately
You can insert a SIM from another carrier and that will reset the provisioning. Then re-insert your SIM and go through provisioning again.
I had the same issue for days and finally sorted it out. I have VoLTE/HDVoice active and it works with almost ALL phone numbers dialed not just other VoLTE/HDVoice users.

That only works if your carrier supports RCS. That has nothing to do with Google.

I'm very much aware of that. Just bringing up the fact that it's there
Which network are you on? It's not working for me on T-Mobile either, but can't wait to see this in the future (if Google stays on track, that is lol)

I can confirm that my regular Sim is also not getting it as well. I know RCS is supposed to be available on TMobile either now or soon, so I just can't wait until it's fully implemented. I'm sick of iMessage being the only decent first party messaging service ??
No RCS on pixel phones with T mobile. TMO only supports Samsung devices and I believe one LG phone.
Very few US carriers support Universal RCS and it's usually just a few devices if it is available. The carriers publicly state their support of Universal RCS, but clearly there is little to no motivation to switch. Right now texting uses the carrier's propriety technology and they don't want to give up that control. I doubt Universal RCS will ever reach the masses even though it is clearly a better user experience.
In a timely development, it's being reported that Google will be taking control of rsc rollout by giving uses a choice to opt into a Google service. Not in the US to start, but we will see where it goes.

I just saw some articles referring to that... I really do hope that they deliver on their word and it isn't another failed attempt like Allo was

visual voicemail

I recently flashed the G960U1 XAA firmware to my device and there was a different voicemail app but it still shows an option for Verizon premium which I don't want. Is there a free Samsung stock voicemail app that has visual and everything or is it specific to whose carrier sim is in the phone?

most of them are carrier specific. I rarely use my phone as an audio communication device, but i did get a VM app on my phone recently with an update that saves them as audio clips on the phone itself making it to there you dont have to go thru the vm system. No voice to text tho
