Revived i9195 has 0 MB in TWRP internal Storage after Hard Brick - Galaxy S 4 Mini Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi community,
I suddenly experienced a hard bricked I9195 and managed to revive it with debrick.img and a USB JIG (burn debrick.img on SD Card, insert USB JIG, put battery back in and press Power Button).
I've flashed a new Bootloader with Odin3 and now my Phone boots again, but is unable to load Android (stuck on Boot Animation). I can launch TWRP and there I'm able to see the issues:
The internal storage is displayed with 0 MB space. This comes from broken partitions that cannot be mounted (mount reports "Invalid Arument").
I'm not able to reformat, wipe or fix them with TWRP.
Using fdisk, I found out, that my Internal Flash has a size of 3348 MB instead of 8 GB . Several partitions are defined and they exceed the 3348 MB.
I've tried to update TWRP to 3.2.1-1 with Odin, but even after passed flashing, it does not have any effect. I've also tried to go back to stock and added a pit file, but after the flashing is reported successfully and I reboot the phone, nothing has changed.
How can I fix the storage? TWRP is useless and cannot fix the partitions. Using fdisk for repartitioning would be crazy and the size is reported wrong.
Any ideas?
-----
Additional findings:
It seems, that i can flash and do what I want. The flash storage discards any changes.
I've tried to flash another recovery. Nothing after reboot.
I've tried to write a file /system/testing. Not there after a reboot.
It seems that the flash is broken and the device assumes the write is okay.

I just encountered exactly the same problem on my S4 mini. Have you found any solution?
Regards
RR

[Q] Type password to decrypt storage after a failed attempt to partition ROOTED

4.2.2 on a rooted, unlocked One X
I was using Minitools Partition, with the device mounted to PC, in CWM, I followed some fairly simple instructions, which called for me to delete the original partition (25GB) which I did, I then set 3GB Ex2 (for apps to sd card) and the rest 22GB FAT32. THat all seemed to work fine.
BUT now I am now being asked to "type encryption password" every time I boot the phone, what format should the SD card be? Have I got the partitions wrong? SD card will no longer mount in recovery, plus I cant get pass this screen (password request) when turned on. The ROM is loading, to request this password, its happening after the X, perhaps my instructions where wrong from the beginning?
These are the ones I used,
http://forum.xda-developers.com/wiki/SD_card_partitioning
Things I have tried,
1 changing the format and partitions of sd card, to everything you can think of (eg 2GB FAT, 1GB Ex2, 21GB FAT32)
2 Wipe data/ factory reset, in recovery
3 Flashed boot.img to device, in bootloader.
4 fastboot format userdata, in bootloader (something i read in a thread)
3 Factory reset, in bootloader.
Nothing, the ROM still loads, up until this screen with an option for emergency calls, dialer does appear so ROM is fine? CWM works fine, however as you might expect I cant mount SD card in recovery and needless to say I just cant get passed this password request screen.. I feel like if I try and wipe system and flash the ROM again, ill just come up against the same problem, or worse just brick my device, as I cant load any Zip files.... which has only just dawned on me, any ideas people?
many thanks
Tim.
I have the same issue on my HTC ONE XL ATT ... but my phone randomly rebooted and when it turned on it got to DECRYPT STORAGE, i didnt even do anything... and i really dont feel like re-installing my rom ... idk what to do exactly now. i can boot up into recovery and access all my files but i dont know what happened...
same issue here with galaxy nexus after installing 4.2.2, ive tried odin, fastboot, everything but after the phone reboots loads the same os and it reboots a few seconds later.

[Q] Bricked Ascend P6-U06

Hello there,
I made the mistake of wiping the internal storage using TWRP.
I am unable to enter recovery mode with the button hold options (tried all variations). The only way I was able to get into TWRP was adb reboot recovery. adb connection is now gone and the phone is stuck at the boot screen.
I can get a fastboot connection and the bootloader is unlocked. So I flashed the boot partition with a stock boot.img and the recovery partition with a stock recovery.img (even though I can't enter the recovery partition).
the phone never gets past the boot logo. Is there a way to directly flash a system.img vie fastboot, so that the device can be used? I am kind of stuck here.. read several threads for the past 2-3 hours, tried to reinstall TWRP as recovery but cant boot into it, etc.
I downloaded the B510.zip and was wondering if there is a way to burn an .img out of that and flash the system partition. But maybe that doesn't make sense at all.
Any help is greatly appreciated
update
Alright then, I managed to boot into TWRP!! a previous version worked.
it shows: Custom storage (498MB), Internal Storage (0MB), External Storage (0MB)
i am now proceding to install the zipped 510 rom from huawei. unfortunately i must have lost my microSD so i am lefti with sideload and otg.
sideload doesn't work because i can't find my device with adb. only fastboot seems to work, i dont know the reason but i understand its normal for my situation.
i only have an unpowered otg cable. from what i read that won't work, but I'm giving it a try and currently load the zip on a usb flashdrive.
do i understand correctly that the overall storage just appears to be 498MB? my partition table must be fairly messed up if that is the case. are there other partitions not shown by TWRP?
what do you recommend besides/instead of getting a microsd?
kind regards
update #2
I managed to mount the internal storage as mtp and copied the zip into the pictures folder, because i had no writing permission for the parent dir.
i tried to install, but the first time i got an error that cache could not be mounted. i cleared the dalvik cache and retried.
this time i had another error message as you can see in the screenshot.
adb still does not work, so sideload is not an option. i can also mount the custom partition but it is just under 500mb while the rom zip is 7xx mb
any help would be greatly appreciated
Resolved
I managed to solve it. Installed the paranoid android rom from the pictures dir. it was under 500mb and worked fine.

Probs with TWRP Recovery - not recognized Ext SD + Auto quit & booting to Android sys

Probs with TWRP Recovery - not recognized Ext SD + Auto quit & booting to Android sys
Hi, I am having following problems with TWRP on my i9082 - Stock 4.2.2. I did a stock factory reset first. And then installed TWRP using Odin.
Note:My phone is rooted, using SUv2.65.
1) TWRP 3.0 + all versions. I have tried every version till the latest 3.02, but with every 3.0 and higher version, my external SD Card is not detected... Though Android System can detect the SD Card, and read and write files to it.
2) If I use TWRP 2.8.6 tar installed using Odin, then it reads the SD Card, but gives this message E:Unknown File System: 'datamedia' .
If I ignore that message, and try backing up my Stock ROM, then in about half a minute, it automatically reboots into Android system, and the Backup is not created...
Hence I am not able to create any Backup.
Could somebody please help. I can't understand that error. And also can't understand why higher versions of TWRP (which do not have this error), cannot detect the SD Card
But in every version, I cannot stop TWRP automatically quitting and the Phone booting into Android in less than a minute. I even disabled Screen timeout... Doesn't help!
There is a correction to the Post above:
1) About the External SD Card: It seems there is a problem with the Card. The Card shows in Windows and also in TWRP below v3. It gives the impression that you can read and write to it... But in reality, when we write something, we find it is missing the next time we try to read the data... Even while trying to format the card from Android, it says formatting completed successfully. But we find all files are there, just as before...
I have tried using DiskPart and also SDFormatter..., on this Sandisk 64GB microSD XC1 card. But it appears to be bricked, and cannot be formatted.. I have to try with another external SD Card.
2) But leaving the SD Card, the other issue still remains, for which I would be grateful for any help. In any version of TWRP, both above and below v3, I am not able to complete any backup... TWRP quits on it's own after some time, even while the backup process is going on, and boots into Android, and no backup is created...
I know that TWRP patched my Boot partition. Because at the first while flashing with ODIN, I could not boot to TWRP Recovery, it would always go back to Stock Recovery... Then at another XDA Post, I read that 'Auto Reboot' should be disabled in Odin, and the Phone Battery taken out to quit Odin Mode, and then we should reboot into Recovery using the Right Key combination, and TWRP would boot... Once TWRP is booted, that it would patch the boot, so that the Stock Recovery overwriting would cease... That has been successful, and everytime I use the Key combo to boot into recovery, I get into TWRP. But TWRP now quits by itself even when it is actively doing something. And that is getting me completely confused...
I have to add this Error too here!
Besides above, I also consistently get this error in the Log tab. E:Unknown File System: 'datamedia' . This is also the same in every version of TWRP. If I ignore it and continue with Backup, then Backup proceeds, but TWRP quits to Android System like I said earlier, and hence the Backup is never made...
For long time I was too facing this prob with TWRP recoveries for galaxy grand duos sudden restart to UI while taking nandroid backups, flashing new ROMs or apps ...
I just quit and now the probs are solved using Phil's recovery ..NONE problems till now great jobs in taking nandroid backup and Flashing ROMS...

Is it bricked?

Hello, I was on a meeting and I turn off Note 2. After this it was stuck on boot logo. My TWRP is v 2.8.0.1 It says there is no os; Internal storage is 0mb, External storage is 0mb. I tried sd card on other phones. It worked. My PC can't recognize my phone. Also:
- unable to mount ''/system; data; cash; efs; internal and external; no valid storage partition found for MTP etc.
Is there anything I can do about it? Thanks in advance!

Change the file system to ext4 (for every partition possible). I had the same issue. You will loose all your data in internal storage. And you probably have to flash new rom.
You could try flashing a stock ROM with Odin but you will lose your data.
Ok... thanks... I change he file system to ext4 (for every partition possible). In recovery i wipe everything - loosing data is not important. Now I have problem with Odin. I tried to flash stock 4.4.2 but i have sbootbin fail. My latest ROM (i think) was 4.4.4. What can I do?
Did you confirm the model # in download mode? Sboot.bin is not flashing in Odin because the ROM is not made for the phone.
Did you try using different USB cables and USB ports? Tried using Odin 3.07?
The ROM is official, and latest for my country and carrier. I dont know if there is a problem with custom rom that was on my phone before - which is 4.4.4. I tried with Odin 3.12.3. Now i downloaded Odin 3.07. and now it says NAND write start! FAIL!

Try flashing any custom rom. When i faced this issue, i just changed every partition to ext4 and then flashed a custom rom of my choice. And everything went normal.
How can I flash custom rom when I cant see my internal and external storage (it says = 0mb and all folders are empty). I tried different Roms with different ODIN's- mostly Nand write fail! I cant change internal storage to ext4 because :"Invalid partition selection"! Can I flash custom rom with Odin?

The 0mb issue isnt fixed by changing file system??
Remove any sd card if you have inserted. Try again to change them.
In my case i fixed 0mb issue by changing file system to ext4. Nothing else.
No... I have 0mb.. I changed available file systems to ext4 with and without sd card.. Is there any way to do something?
Your only hope may be flashing the phone with a jtag cable. If that doesn't fix the problem, the memory is defective.

And i f****d my moto z2 play again but not so badly

Hello, some time ago i posted something about my bricked phone, i did it again but not so badly.
So basically i tried to flash a GSI, and i kind of succeeded, the Phone starts and it asks me to put the password to start android, when i put it works but it says that the password i put was correct but the data was corrupt, i can go to TWRP and go in the files of an SD Card i have but, i cannot put anything in my internal storage via pc but luckily i have a chromebook, it also doesn't transfer to the internal storage, i tried to connect to my pc multiple times but it didn't work, so i want to know if i can re-install the Stock Rom via sd card with the help of my chromebook (it has 4gb)
If you are coming from Stock to GSI, you may encounter this encryption problem. The easiest way is to flash stock recovery after flashing GSI. Then boot, and when it asks you to enter password, and it fails, it tells you to reboot and the stock recovery will format your internal storage (TWRP can't).
If you want to get back to stock, just flash some stock firmware in fastboot (wiping data)
TWRP actually CAN format encrypted storage. It justs happens it won't work at the first try. You have to format two to three times, and on each format you need to reboot to TWRP until you format again and the red letters (errors) stops appearing. I do this all the time with 64-bit Treble TWRP and has never failed after doing this process.
