LG V35 going to AT&T - LG V35 Guides, News, & Discussion

Kind of disappointing, if TMobile got this I'd jump in a heartbeat. The same looking phone with upgraded processor, ram, front and back cameras? Absolutely

As long as they didn't add a notch, and it came to t-mobile, I'd jump on this too. I love my V30+.

This actually scares me. How is LG going to screw up the LG V40? Add a notch?
This V35 already has the Snapdragon 845, more RAM, improved cameras, etc. It's what the V40 SHOULD be. So, LG is going to have to do something drastic for the V40 -- like add a stupid notch.

Yeah I wish TMobile had been the one to pass on the G7 and pick this up. V30 looks with the updated internals, absolutely.

But yeah I'm with you, not looking good for the V40. They'll streatch the screen even more for that silly notch. I'm surprised the G7 didn't get stereo speakers though. I'd figure they'd follow suit like Samsung did

you guys,
do you know a method to buy V35 on AT&T Store without subscribe a plan ? I want tell: to buy device free of contract and plans, and sure unlocked for all other operators. I can only buy it online and not in phisical store
At the moment if you try to buy device paid in full on their store, you can't because final step request you choose a Plan .

AT&T wants customers, they don't want to be place that you buy hardware.
You're going to have to wait for to show up on eBay or swappa.

Agreed.
With
* the stupid 2016 LG G5 mods,
* the idiotic "regionalized" specs of the 2017 G6 (where you could not get a G6 with Qi wireless charging, more than 32GB storage and quad DAC), and now
* this detestable2018 G7 notch,
LG has shown contempt for the G series For several years now.
Just like the V30 is what the G6 should have been, this V35 is what the G7 should have been.

Get an AT&T customer to buy it off contract. Wait a month then have them unlock it (has to be a month wait even bought outright, but then you can use it on T-mobile) Or just by the one off project fi and don't activate the fi card...Fi will never charge you for the service and you keep the phone since you paid for it. it will likely be unlocked and can use T-mobile since Fi uses T-mobile and sprint in their network.

about 2years ago, I bought AT&T device without contract and got unlock code immediately.
My wife is on Cricket wireless(prepaid) and wanted pink gold color Galaxy S7 Edge.
I found one on Best Buy but it was AT&T variant. I just paid full (about $700), and request carrier unlock since I paid in full.
I got unlock code about couple of days later.
She is still using the phone now, she loves it.
I think you can purchase V35 in same way, but I am not sure how the LTE bands or CDMA support on AT&T V35.

What I want you know is whether the V35 is using the same exact screen or if LG fixed the issues that the v30 has

V35
Honestly, as good as the V35 sounds, the V40 will most liklely have my money, hoping and praying that LG learns from the release of the V30 last year and add more RAM and internal storage along with stable OLED panels and no frigging notch!!!!!!!!!!

Edit

Just make sure you understand if you buy the AT&T-branded model, you won't get updates if you are not an AT&T customer. There's also other V35 out there that is not for AT&T.
Also there are some KDZ available. Not sure what the difference is.

This is an old thread, before V35 was released other places -- like Google Fi.
Depends on if you buy from AT&T or buy carrier unlocked elsewhere. If you buy carrier unlocked, no issues on T-Mobile.
Also we can't give much advice and support because the v35 is not a v30. It's a totally different phone... V35 (JUDYP) is basically a G7 (JUDYN) that looks like a v30 (JOAN).

[Q] Should I wait for this to come to AT&T? (If ever)

Or should I just buy it at full price unlocked. I heard an "AT&T" version passed through the FCC but 1. Is that really an AT&T version? Some people said it may be some Canadian or Australian carrier. and 2. It may just never come out anyway. I'd just be pissed if I paid $750 then it comes to AT&T and I could've saved $500. You think there's actually a chance of it coming to AT&T (this decade)? What would you do in this situation?
It probably is coming to AT&T according to the latest FCC filings. http://www.techieinsider.com/news/12988

You should be able to get a better plan if you use a unlocked phone. At least I did with t-mobile.
FWIW I talked to some guys at a corporate location and they do not think AT&T will be picking up the Nexus.
They said they've haven't heard any rumors/rumblings internally of any kind about getting it and that they've never carried a Nexus before and don't see why this one would be any different.
:/ Just relaying about inquiring about it. I went ahead and got a intl. unlock myself.
AT&T stores never carried a Nexus phone, but customers could get a subsidized Nexus S for AT&T from Best Buy.
Just grab one an enjoy. Live a little.

If you have the money I'd just buy it outright. Especially if when it comes to AT&T you'll be buying it full price anyways. You won't be saving that much and you'll be able to have the phone now, which is worth something for sure.
I don't know about later on, but AT&T definitely isn't getting this phone before the end of the year. It's all Verizon right now. So even if you're sure its coming to AT&T (who knows?) you can still buy it now knowing you're getting it months earlier.

I mean I'd buy it subsidized off AT&T and it'd probably be like $300 at most. This is a really tough decision.
I ended up using my upgrade to get an HTC Vivid for $75 then sold it for $400 and just put the $325 profit toward the Nexus. I'd say just go for it. This phone is a beast.
buy it now. save your upgrade. dont sign a contract. in 6 months+ when something better comes out, cuz you know it will, you will still have your upgrade.

The FCC doesn't approve devices for Canada and Australia.
The device that passed doesn't have the 900 Mhz, which has been causing problems on the unlocked GSM phone.. So that's one reason to wait for it. Another is if it does in fact come officially to AT&T, the price will drop significantly. Also, buying devices on the grey market is not for the faint of heart, I've got a Nexus S with the search button bug and Negri/Samsung/Google don't care because they don't have to.
In all likelihood you will see a late January/early February release of this phone and smart money is waiting
I'm on at&t as well and am waiting for one of 2 things. Either for it to come to at&t directly or for a significant price drop. I don't have a problem picking up the international version because when you turn around and sell it you'll likely get more since it can be used on any gsm carrier. The one major thing i'm waiting to find out though is if there are any plans to release a 32gb gsm version.
I didn't want to wait for the "next" big phone, so I just found the most expensive/free phone on at&t, used my upgrade to get it, then sold the phone on ebay...I picked up the HTC Titan for free at Best Buy on Cyber Monday, sold it for ~$500 and now have the Nexus Galaxy for cool $250 (what it would probably cost if it ever came to at&t).
...additionally I am selling my Nexus S and hoping to get a couple hundred and making the NG almost free.
Anyways, if you have an upgrade and don't mind the contract, just get the best deal on a phone you can sell...it's the only way I could have ever afforded my original N1, my i9020A NS and now GS.

You're actually wrong. The FCC checks all devices that could be used in the US. i9000t https://fjallfoss.fcc.gov/eas/GetApplicationAttachment.html?id=1303821
i9100t http://pocketnow.com/android/samsung-galaxy-s-ii-passes-fcc-muster
i9250m https://fjallfoss.fcc.gov/eas/GetApplicationAttachment.html?id=1586317
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=19919999
19000T and i9100T went to Telus/Rogers in Canada and the i9250m went to Bell Canada. i9250m was the first GSN to pass the FCC and it's on sale this week exclusively from Virgin Mobile/Bell Canada.
I thought the same for rogers... paid way too much for mine. Couldn't care less... best purchase of 2011 for me personally.

The FCC reviews any device that could be used in the US.
Also, the volume "bug" is tied to 900mhz, but even if your device has the 900mhz frequency enabled in the hardware, it has nothing to do with whether or not you'll experience the bug. The problem arises when you actually use 900mhz. So even those of you who imported a GN to the US have 900mhz hardware, you're never going to use it on AT&T (850mhz) or T-mobile (1800).
I'm on AT&T and my Galaxy Nexus just arrived at my house from Expansys today.
I'm glad I went ahead and got it though it was well worth it now that I have it in my hands.

Pixel Phone on Verizon

So with the Pixel phone being sold through Verizon here in the US, do you think this phone will be fully unlocked if bought from them?
Wow, that is expensive... and sold out...
Didn't get one, but want the 128 GB (though I wish they offered a 64GB).
Add the protection plan for another $100, sitting at close to $1000!
Holy cow... I am going to need to sell a kidney.

Being it's Verizon I would say very likely but I am sure it will get cracked at least until new updates remember this is Verizon your talking about they love to be in control of things that they have no right to be. Easy fix don't buy from Verizon buy from Google or if you can buy from HTC as they will treat you better in the long run like the $100 in free accessories they gave the HTC 10 buyers after we got an extra free USB-C charge cable months before and maybe uh oh protection might be included too but that is hoping lol.
Is there any downsides from purchasing from google vs Verizon? Will we get access to the same LTE bands, etc.?
In the past, have google versions of phones have come with unlocked bootloaders but verizon come with locked versions of the same devices?

Given the way the past Nexus devices (that included support for Verizon and were eventually sold through them) the answer is no. They use the exact same hardware presumably. But until we start seeing model numbers confirmed it could be a possibility. But the unlocked version will support Verizon and it will have Google as your main access for support (which has been good to some people in the past).

The only reason I'd consider buying it straight from Verizon is because it would be added onto my bill in which my job would end up paying for my phone. If I buy it from the PlayStore i'd have to buy it on my own.
I think I'm going to end up with a Note 7.

I'm in that boat as well, work will pay for my phone if I get it through Verizon. Here's hoping that I can in some way sell the Verizon phone NIB and buy the unlocked one.
If you get it from Verizon they are offering the promotion 2 year contract again exclusively for this phone. So you can get the pixel 128gb for like $300....but it might be bootloader locked and you won't get the free vr headset promo the Google store is offering right now.

Oh that's it. Anyone on a contract can keep getting new contracts like that. But new customers cannot get a contract from Verizon directly. You can still get service through Verizon with a new contract and subsidised phone you just have to purchase the Verizon service through dealers like best buy and target I know they both list new Verizon service with a contract where you get the phone subsidised instead of a payment plan or paying full retail price for the phone.

Yeah, but it took well over a year to unlock the verizon S5 (at least. I hadn't looked for another year, so it might have been over 2). It'll be cracked Eventually but how long will it take
I'm not too worried about the bootloader being locked as I've stopped rooting my phones and flashing ROMS but I just need to know if the Verizon model has all the bands to work properly on t-mobile. I have 2 sims and need to confirm this.
Bootloader is definitely locked. Saw this question/answer on the VZW Page this morning for the Pixel XL.
I just preordered the pixel xl from best buy and extended my contract with Verizon. Does anybody know if the version they carry is the same as Verizon's or the unlocked version in the play store?

Why wouldn't you buy a "Verizon version with expectation of using it on another carrier"?
I bought a Verizon version last night from Best Buy (im not really worried about unlocking the bootloader at this point. Been doing it for years lol ) and put my T-Mobile sim card in and it worked immediately.
All these Google Pixel phones are carrier unlocked. Every single one. The only difference is that the Verizon version currently cannot be Bootloader unlocked, but I'm sure it will someday.
I would say buy from google if you really want to have an unlocked bootloader. I wont say it will never be unlocked but i think there will be very few working on it for the simple fact that you can buy an unlocked version. I would have bought it from google but it was more cost effective for me to buy it from Verizon.
Honest opinion = It is highly unlikely!
Most likely not since there is an google verison that comes with an unlocked bootloader for the same price.
I'm with verizon but bought it from the Google store. I am thinking about switching carriers sometime soon so I don't want to be stuck with monthly payments from Verizon on a device that won't be used on their carrier. That's why I did Google finance. Plus I already give too much money to Verizon each month. Bootloader being unlocked or not doesn't bother me but some people will want root and one day I may root and I want that option.

Same here. My wife is on Verizon and I looked at adding a line. If I buy it outright (pixel xl) I don't get the big credit for my V10, only fair market value and I don't get the free data bump either. At the end of the day, staying with T-Mobile with unlimited data just makes sense

dead community?

im just wondering if there is anyone still trying to find a way to unlock the bootloader or root the xt1635 01, i have had the phone for months and refuse to update it in case a working root method comes out for a specific update. the phone is starting to slow down and android isn't the same to me without root. along with that, verizon and all the stupid bloatware are still a huge issue for me. (even though it always has been) i want to know if development has stopped or not, if it has, i plan to buy the moto x4 or wait until the x5 comes out and will be making sure it is factor unlocked. #verizonsucks
Verizon does suck, don't think there will ever be an unlock for the 01.

The funny part is, for example, a Verizon Moto e4 prepaid can be had for very little money (got my daughter's brand new on sale at Target for $40 a while back). It will likely never be bootloader unlocked or rooted - which would have fairly little to do with the users choice of carrier. However, for a couple bucks on eBay there are carrier unlock codes for it - bye bye Verizon, your $40 phone works just fine on my ATT postpaid SIM...

I still remember the days where you didn't have to have the bootloader unlocked, you just needed a bootstrap, those were the days

That make sense. For $40 I'd deal with carrier, but not for $500 ones. It is just about preference & experience. I had some bad experience with carrier so for me it's a no no.
And my point is that I will never buy a carrier's phone, that is for me and should you? That's your decision to make.

Agreed. I finally got sick of locked down phones as ATT got worse about it. Had root and unlock on my Aria, S2 and LGOG that were ATT branded, but after my S6 and the crap with that, went the unbranded route. Still with ATT, but having the option to walk as soon as a better deal comes along is nice.
Sucks coming up with cash upfront for a phone, but mid rangers are good enough for me now, so not as bad as it could be.

Man, couldn't agree more on that. I think we are gone too far out of topic. Time to disappear
Conclusion is, you're more likely will not be able to unlock bootloader on that phone. Bye bye magisk

Unlock moto g7 play

So I made the mistake of buying a phone from eBay. It's a Boost Mobile phone on Moto G7 play of course. Is there a way to unlock this thing. I really need my phone service with this coronavirus crap going on. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

They said they need the previous phone number and pin to do it.
I am seeing these brand new on ebay for $60 the Boost version. We need to find a cheap or free unlock method
You can get it unlocked for about $30 which is cost prohibitive for most of us, since you can just get an unlocked phone for the same or less as the combined price of the phone and the code. I found that unlock company just searching in google.

Long shot but have you tried flashing the retail firmware?
They said the phone must be active on boosts network for a year or they can't unlock it
Just pay attention to what you are buying in the future. I HAVE bought so many phones on ebay and had almost all of them were a good deal. Samsung S4, s4 mini, HTC M8, and 9, Blu Vivo XI+, Moto X4 (2 of them) Moto G Power, I just bought and LG G7 last night.
I made money on some of these because they had software issues and I repaired them at no cost to myself (Moto X4 like new for $30, repaired and I Sold it for $90 as example.
So the problem is you did not pay attention to what you were buying, that can happen anywhere with any seller or retailer
Either return it or sell it yourself on ebay. Pay attention to the details when you make a purchase next time whether it's on ebay, walmart crauigslist, BOOSt, Verizon, etc.
Kind of like a friend I Know bought a brand new Samsung Note 20 Ultra at US Cellular for $1300 then was complaining they can't get 5g in their town. It is no surprise hardly anyone has 5G, but it was a surprise to him I guess because he wasn't researching or paying attention to the details. The devil's in the details you know?
Best to research it first he could brick the device? I doubt it's that easy to unlock it that way. It would be nice if it was though

When a different SIM card is inserted, it says invalid SIM.
