What ROM should we download for best battery backup and gaming performance - Lenovo ZUK Z2 (Plus) Questions & Answers

Hi I already posted a thread about this but I didn't get much response and I just wanted to ask that the battery life in a custom ROM is really worst. When I was using the stock ROM the battery backup was really good but the gaming and performance was really bad so from that moment I've been installing new custom ROMs to find out one which has great battery and also great performance but I failed to do so. And I don't knoknow why but the battery backup is really bad in every ROM. I am currently on viper is and it is giving me 3h 21m SOT and in the stock ROM I got around 6 to 7 hrs SOT so what should I do for battery and performance

Check Jaguar, it's performance is the best amongst any other rom right now. Though the battery life is average..

Go for DoTOS (Non treble build)
You can even try bootleggers and latest Aex 5.5
P.S - Aex 5.5 is fully treble supported so you need to flash factory2vendor.zip and after that compatible twrp.

Will you mind if I ask, which game you play that gives 6 to 7 hours of SoT with Stock ZUI (I guess 2.5 Indian) ??

Can't confirm about all the ROM, tried only PE, RR, AEX, AiCP.
Now I have seen others getting 6 to 6h30min with most of these ROM for general usage.
I had issue with PE but some go around that with custom kernel.
By default installations of ROM, without any other extra mods, I have seen both AiCP and AEX offering 6h to 6h30min SoT with moderate use. That including bit of casual gaming also (but of Guns of Boom or a match of PubG).

Bootlegger + BFR Kernal V3.3

AiCP 13.1 May 11Th
Nameless Kernel R14
No root
PubG at medium
WiFi network
6% battery for a 33 min match. That accounts to around 12% per hour.
This is a new installation, not yet through few charge cycle, so data may change in next few days of use.

This is very awkward to hear

bootloger 2.2 14 april + heliox v2 was good balance performance , if you want more battery backup just install greenify active doze and install akt profile xana battery profile

Bootleggers is not so good on my personal experience. Try out Jaguar, it had the best performance u can ever witness with this device. On the contrary games force close on the latest update of bootleggers rom[24-8-2018].I faced this issue with clash royale and clash of clans.

I have been using Arrow OS Oreo for a month now, getting around 5 hrs SOT on normal usage.
After installing AKT (X.A.N.A BATTERY) I get more than 7 hrs SOT normal usage. Videos, live streaming and twitter. No gaming.

I have used bootleggers for a long time and i was not satisfied with the battery performance it degrades after some time while using the rom for days and then few weeks back i switched to cardinal os i know its not that heard of, but it is more stable and battery efficient, my device is 1.5 years old so battery has also aged on bootleggers i used to get around 4 hrs but on cardinal i get about 5 - 6 hrs of sot that to when I charge my device once a day. And i used the stock battery configs on both roms

One plus 3 best rom for Screen on time

Can anyone tell me that which is the best rom for screen on time.i am using stock rom.just me a rom that can give a 5+ hour screen on time...i have posted my usage in screenshot
OOS 4.0.2 with OB7 firmware. Then flash render EAS kernal. EAS will make sure that you get the most battery out of your phone.
It doesnt fully depend on the ROM. If u really want good battery life then its all about tweaking. For example flash LOS14.1 with bluspark/ElementalX/Franco then apply a AKT profile, for further explanation of this head to the advanced kernel tweaking thread and then download the akt APK. Then choose which profile u think suits the best. U can choose from battery/balanced/performance. Then u can easily reach 5h SOT. Hope i helped you.
I have 8-9h SOT on sultan's CM13
Screenshots: https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=70828408&postcount=668
Beta 11 with Franco's kernel. 4+ guaranteed SOT for me with a moderate gaming ( CoC and CR .... Both battery hogger )
Plus both Sims and 4g data on one is on mostly.
If you want more battery then you should try AKT ZHANA but for me it made my phone slow. So avoiding it at this moment.
Hope it helps. Thanks!
SOT is personal and doesn't mean a lot you can leave your display on with sync off, 0 Brightness and get 20hrs...
Try different setups maybe ditch some apps and log in with optimized sd browser etc
I have got my best SOT with Slimroms
It really depends on usage more than anything else. For example, I'm consistently getting 5-6h SOT on stock ROM and kernel, no doze tweaks or anything. Never got below 4h, once hit over 9h.

my constant is with 4 hours sot with stock 3.2.8. could be better with 4.0.2 or whatever.. but i stopped thinking about the sot coz its just making me paranoid everytime i look at the battery stats. as long as the phone can hold up till end of the day then im good and as long as i can get off a charger everytime im on low battery then im damn fine

I agree with this as well. I think back to my note 4, and just wanted a better that would last until I got home.. I frequently had to plug it up or swap batteries halfway through the day.
Now with heavier use, [and more knowledge of android] regardless of what I do, my oneplus 3 always makes it through the entire work and school day.
H2OS Beta 7, stock kernel + root +greenify +juice defender(default settings). It's the best battery duration I have with OP3. 5-7h sot generally.

They are talking about unplugged screen time ... I see no other way you could get 12 hours sot from this phone. I'm not calling you a liar just saying I don't think it's possible.

which rom for oneplus 3 has best battery life and performance

Please tell me which rom is overall gud for oneplus 3. Checking all the rom ia not possible for me it takes lot of time and i m really disappointed form oxygen os 4.0.3 it drain lots of battery please suggest me a rom with good battery life and performance i dont care much about customization
Iam afraid there is really nothing that can help you (or others like me..). I have tried allot of ROMS and they all result in somewhat the same result.
1 charge 1 day (or almost 1 day) Does not matter if i use custom kernel battery improvement tools or "special" tips and tricks at the end of the afternoon iam still running low. I know i use my phone ALLOT and i use allot of connectivity (WIFI, 3/4G, BT) that is properly the issue, but still its sad that the only thing that might help is buying the oneplus3T.

If you want to stick to MM then go for Sultan's CM & if you want to upgrade to N then go for Resurrection Remix. Both ROM's stock kernels have new good battery life but in the camera part they are out numbered. Sultanxda has done best job by optimising the inbuilt camera app at par with stock OOS & also he gives security patch updates too as soon as they are released.
Resurrection Remix on other hand works great with Android N but has buggy camera due to buggy camera on LOS & we know that till now OnePlus has not released blobs so can't do anything.
All this is my personal preference. You can try out both our any other ROM's from development section like Cypheros or AOSP extended which are AOSP & LOS based or for for Freedom OS or Experience ROM which are OOS based.
I have around 7h SOT with latest freedomOS and bluspark kernel. In my eyes thats pretty good and carries me easily through the day. And light use even 2 days.
If you have any heavy battery drain you should search for the reason. Check wakelocks and logcat too find out whats wrong.

The best rom for battery is Jaguar Oreo. heavy usage (without gaming) sot is around 8/9hr (My max was 10hrs in a single charge) with gaming it falls to 4hrs screen on time with continuous gaming. Bootleggers can never give 7/8 hrs battery with 2 hrs of san andreas gaming. It will give around 4-5hrs. Moderate or heavy usage use Jaguar Oreo.

Total of 4 hours of screen on time is 4 hours ?
Also check what apps you use mostly which is highest in battery consumption list.
4 hours SOT (screen on time) isn't bad if it's for playing heavy duty gaming like PubG or such. Same setup would offer higher SoT if used others daily used apps like social and videos.

Have you checked in your battery stats as what is eating do much of battery?
That usually points to the culprit.
Otherwise, you can change kernel to a more battery friendly one.
Yes, 90 mins PubG for 100-0% is indeed low, unless your battery has degraded hardwarely

In the ROM section here.
I don't use that ROM so I am unable to comment which kernel would give you best results, it's more like Trial n Error type testing you may have to do.
Allow a kernel to run for couple of days before coming to any conclusions about its true potential.
If nothing helps I guess time to try out a different ROM

Once again tough question since the Custom ROM is meant to satisfy different need of different people. Some wants PubG over anything else. Some wants performance of UI.
More or less all ROMs are good but all have different short comings.
Chose a ROM which is officially supported here and widely used. Unlike your present ROM, which seems to be not supported anymore. This helps to obtain assistance when something isn't in order.
Start with Pixel Experience ROM. Performance, integration, fluid nature of operation is mind blowing. I personally had issue with battery drain when idle (SOT was fine, like 5+ hours with mixed use). AR Beast kernel solve it a bit.
Pixel default with anything mode was drinking 2.5% to 3% battery per hour but after I installed AR Beast, it was down to 1% or even lower per hour when idle like night time.
Some other users have different setup, like @$Ayush$ is running,
PE ROM + AR Beast kernel + Sun Cooling
Then @Rahil4321 is running following setup,
PE + Heliox V2 kernel + Boost v7 + Uber Cooling
Then @sanjay.2704 is running following,
PE with heliox 2 with akt project xana balanced
So if you chose to try it out, check that ROM section and start with the ROM first, after couple of days depending on your need chose a setup by asking there. As those individuals can comment about their setup, how or why.
I am presently running AiCP 13.1 may 4th build (latest one). No extra modification or kernel or any such. Performance is some what satisfactory, things are working fine. By things, I mean most of the stuff I use in daily life.
But pixel was by the smoothest ROM I have used. So start there. Couple of issues that I faced with it was as wrote above, battery drainage in idle (others have solved it with different setup), then WiFi link limited to 72 Mbps (AEX/AiCP/ZUI i see connecting at 150 Mbps) last of all the Jio reception (but all custom ROM I have used have this network bar fluctuation issue) issue, but never faced call drops.

DotOS
I was also previously using CitrusCAF 3.6 as it gave best battery life. But in last month or so, battery drainage became very common. Even on clean installation.
I have currently settled on DotOS Oreo after trying AEX5.5 and RR. AEX gave me 4hr+ SOT. But DotOS gives around 6-7hr+ SOT.
I am a moderate user. No bugs so far and smooth.

LineageOs 14.1 official is best rom for battery life. Better than stock and almost 1 hour more SOT then custom oreo.
Oreo all the way definitely bootleggers 14 hours sot
I am on cardinal asop+magisk+magma kernel..deep sleep is working..but facing huge battery drain issue in idle condition...1% battery drain for about 1 hr approx. Is it normal ? Is there any solution guys ?
*Which
I'm on ViperOS Nougat, Magma kernel V6, Greenify,Amplify. I have a lot of apps, so a lot of battery drain in idle. 0,5-0.9% per Hour. Light Usage: 6Hours SOT- 2-3Days Usage;
Heavy Usage 10-14-Hours of SOT
It really depends of how you use your phone, bluetooth, wifi, mobile data, gps, etc. And on how many apps you have so.
I can fairly say that people with a lot of apps, even get 13 Hours of SOT. Depending on your apps that will vary, being higher or lower than that.
Stock Rom battery Life was better though for me, but the cons where delayed messages and a lot of bugs.
So using a Custom Rom really is better. And personally Nougat is my favorite.
