Flashed 9.5.6 Global ROM to China Note 5 AI, can't proceed through initial setup - Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 Pro Questions & Answers

Hello!
Today I finally received permission to unlock my bootloader, after waiting a long 15 days (360 hours). After solving some MiFlash Unlock issues, I finally unlocked my phone. I flashed TWRP and Magisk, and then afterwards I flashed Xiaomi.eu's stable whyred ROM, which worked (including camera sensors), but was terribly slow and clearly very unoptimized. For this reason, I decided to flash the leaked official Global ROM, 9.5.6 from Xiaomi. All was well, and I was presented with the initial set-up screen. After selecting my language (English [United Kingdom]), I was forced to select China as my region on the next page. Seconds after selecting it, my phone reboot and opened the system again, only to reboot within seconds. This process would probably repeat endlessly if I didn't have it in fastboot mode. I can still access TWRP recovery, and my phone still shows that it's unlocked on the boot screen. I've tried doing another clean wipe, and then installation of the global ROM with no success (same error occurs, even when I tried English (United States)).
I've tried to use the MiFlash tool (2017.4.25) but my device isn't detected when I click Refresh, and the fastboot mode displays "press any key to shutdown...". I've tried many different drivers as I thought it was a driver issue, but now I'm not sure.
Any suggestions? Thanks!

I tried that, same issue. Also tried with the new 9.5.11 global rom update.

FIrst Flash MIUI Nougat Rom
http://bigota.d.miui.com/V9.2.7.0.NEIMIEK/miui_WHYREDGlobal_V9.2.7.0.NEIMIEK_b6ab1f7b5b_7.1.zip
after flashing this Rom and setup complete then flash the leaked official Global ROM, 9.5.6. Otherwise you won't be able to pass the setup screen in latest Oreo Rom.

This one? Fastboot ROM will probably fix that as the bootloop is caused by a conflict with the remaining partitions from the last rom.
Flashing with MIFLASH Tool and selecting CLEAN ALL will clear that issue. Check Troubleshooting at end of the tutorial, it's already answered there. My first tutorial was to downgrade to nougat but that is not needed anymore as the fastboot rom for 9.5.6 is already available.

Ah thank you, I was flashing through recovery. With that being said, MiFlash doesn't detect my phone in fastboot, even if I can normally flash to it through fastboot if I were to open a terminal. Clicking "Refresh" in MiFlash Tool just disables fastboot. I realize its unrelated to your own tutorial, as its probably some fault on my computer. Thanks for your replies!

Oneplus 3 Bricked - Unbrick doesn't work...

Hello guys,
my Oneplus 3 is hard bricked, I tried the methods in the Mega Unbrick guide, my device already gets shown as Qualcomm 9008 ... in Device Manager, so I started the MSM DownloadTool and it flashed anything without errors. But when the phone reboots I get a black screen and the white led is on.
I can't even boot to stock recovery (Volume down + power doesn't work and rebooting to recovery through fastboot doesn't work, too....) my bootloader is locked and all attempts to unlock the bootloader are failing with the error "remote: oem unlock is not allowed"
So at the moment I'm stuck in fastboot and nothing else works -.-
Can someone please help me?
The unbrick tool has an old firmware, can I replace the files with files from a newer firmware?
Thanks!
Have you tried the exact steps from Method 2? Maybe unzip it? If that doesn't work which is highly unlikely then there is not much you can do.

Yeah I tried it as I said, the MSM DownloadTool showed me Completed and the phone tried to boot up after that.
I'm now contacting the OP Customer Support, I've read a few times that they have other files to unbrick the phone with the MSM Tool.

Ye thats the only thing you can currently do... May i ask what you have done how did it get bricked?
I just updated AICP ota and after flashing the update my phone didn't boot up. The screen went black immediately.
So I thought that it is maybe a Problem with the ROM and I tried to go back to stock.
Flashed the stock recovery and locked the bootloader, but I couldn't boot to the stock recovery.
There it started...
Switch off the phone, connect usb ,open unbrick tool full ( method 2),Press vol up,down and power buttons same time ,tool will recognize phone then start , you must unbrick now.
NEVER LOCK YOUR PHONE.

Please read, I already did that.
The tool completed it successfully, but still black screen after a reboot.
Only the LED is flashing white.
I already contacted the support, they will do it remotely tomorrow.

Never but never lock your bootloader...
If recovery, boot or system partition is modified. There's no harm in re locking otherwise..

I'm assuming your device is OnePlus3 and not 3T
Okay. Firstly give a try to Oneplus3 openbeta Nougat special edition.
Oneplus3 : http://downloadmirror.co/Wa9/O2N_OBT_15801_OXYGEN_SIGN_wipe.zip
Method 1 : specific recovery for open beta24 available in Oneplus downloads
https://downloads.oneplus.com
Find legacy roms and find openbeta 24
Method 2: latest TWRP
If your bootloader is locked this isn't gonna work. But if it is still in unlocked .
Download TWRP for Oneplus3 from official TWRP site
Flash the recovery you choose using fast boot.
Now using asn command, try to flash the special edition.
Mostly this solves your issue. It helped me.
Let me know whether you face any issues.
Note: in this method you may lose every data you have on the phone. It boots up (if at all ? ) with fresh firmware and fresh storage (sometimes)

The file I gave link to is a special edition by Oneplus for Openbeta-Nougat. You can go to Nougat from any rom.
Rom: http://downloadmirror.co/Wa9/O2N_OBT_15801_OXYGEN_SIGN_wipe.zip
Specific recovery should be downloaded from Oneplus website.
You can sideload using adb or store internal storage and flash.
I tried with latest TWRP recently and it worked.
Note that all your data gets wiped if you use oneplus-recovey and asn sideload

Yes, it won't stick at 60% with this beta. I'm not the owner. It was provided on Oneplus forums. Try that one and tell me the result. It is a signed zip. So it will work on official Oneplus-recovery

Simply reboot to recovery and say yes to wipe every data.
Note1:
all your internal data is wiped in the method I suggested. I can recall there is a method to recover data only if bootloader is unlocked. If your bootloader is locked there is no other way.
Note2: your data will be formatted to f2fs file system. If you want to flash any custom ROM, YOU SHOULD CHECK COMPATIBILITY WITH F2FS in that ROM forums.
It's better to always have EXT4 file system. You can change this file system with TWRP

[Serious]Note 5 pro (Indian Variant)|Unable to boot any rom. [Help pls]

Today morning, I started facing bootloops on my whyred (running Pixel Experience pie latest).I clean flashed PE but couldn't boot into it. Phone would be stuck in bootloops. I changed roms to Potato OS,AICP,Descandent,Syberia,RR etc. but none could boot. All of them would get stuck in boot loop. ( I clean flashed all of them, wiping even my internal storage each time) Then I tried clean flashing Global MIUI latest stable, it boots but my sim cards are not detected and wifi doesnt turn on.Therefore, I was unable to log in to my mi account to verify the device.I tthen downloaded the latest stable MIUI (global) fastboot rom, using the mi flash tool i tried flashing, mi flash tool gave an error:
Code:
Flash antirbpass error
I checked the logs and it said:
Code:
echo current device antirollback version is greater than this package.
I am on anti 4, the rom is anti 4 compliant...why this error. Please help!
Also why was every other rom bootlooping?
Edit1: I still have access to fastboot and TWRP.
Edit2: On the latest Indian beta, It says my IMEI and mac address is not available ( possible curroption) that explains the sim card and wifi not working. Any fix for this?
Edit3: I am now able to boot properly into MIUI (latest Indian developer build) I just need to repair my IMEI and Mac now...has any1 got any idea on how I am supposed to fix it?

Just be patient. This isn't a regular bug/error that can be easily solved.
You we're running PE ROM without problems, what did you do in your device that started to bootloop?

If you have adb and fastboot installed system wide, uninstall it . Reinstall drivers from xiaomi miflash and try again. It looks like your efs partition has been corrupted. If you have twrp backup of stock rom, use it.

Question Bricked while flashing Mi Pad 5 from Chinese to Global ROM

Hi guys,
i want to flash my MiPad 5 from chinese to global Rom.
I already installed the Bootloader Unlock Tool and waited one week.
Now the bootloader is unlocked and i downloaded "Xiaomi Pad 5 Global MIUI V12.5.4.0.RKXMIXM Update". There are two different Download Versions, one for Recovery and one for fastboot. Which one is correct and usable without root?
Now i'm Stuck in the Process of Downloading TWRP because I can't find a specific version for my MiPad 5. Is there anybody who can give me a step by step Guide what to do now?
Thank you

Try fastboot method without bootloader lock
I bricked it....
Error occurred while flashing the Global ROM.
After that it went directly into fastboot. Can't turn it off right now.
At the moment i am trying to install twrp with help of minimal adb and fastboot. getting errors now...
Tried an Intel and a AMD Computer. Tried CN Rom and Global ROM. Endless flashing, no result. Green loading bar is completed, saying mismatching and flashing... Now its stuck in Fastboot Mode.
can anybody help?

TWRP is not required to flash the global ROM.
Just specify the unzipped global ROM as the working directory of MiFlash.
try flashing fastboot rom using miflash tool
finally could flash the global rom.
i am pretty sure it was about the ryzen gaming pc i used. now it worked out with my intel laptop....

Mi Pad 5 didn't have recovery partition, since it use A/B structure. You must execute fastboot boot recovery.img and after that install recovery to RAMdisk.

Whered you even get twrp? Had an error while flashing from cn to global as well about sparse super failed. Then tried reflashing but i got the same error as you had and all i did was reboot the tablet in fastboot while it was still in fastboot and after that it flashed successfully even though it threw out am error flash is not done but the tablet rebooted hy itself and then booted up after a minute or two. Almost gave me a heart attack while i was at it
Edit: seems you flashed it successfully already thats good. Fastboot can be clunky on ryzen sometimes, i remeber back on mi a2 had to use a hub instead of directly connecting my phone to my ryzen pc for fastboot to work properly and not get stuck while flashing. But now i can connect directly after switching to a b450motherboard, was using a b350 before

prob just driver problems, i use ryzen and it works fine.
Don't know if I need to create a new thread. After the unlocking, I tried to change the region from RU to CN and got the same problem after a "successful" update as chrwo with "Mismatching image and device" error and fastboot mode. Then I tried to flash global version and the device error is gone but I still have the fastboot mode. Recovery from MiToolv2 doesn't help either, after successful recovery tablet still goes only to fastboot.
Got it working after flashing with miflash on the intel PC. I used a USB port on the motherboard this time.
So maybe there is really a problem with Ryzen.

i also brick the device using mi-flash sucking program. i finally using fastboot command flashing which copying from the stock rom "flash_all.bat" file.

You must have the firmware requested by the OP, flashed it if necessary.

Regrettably, my telephone is now hard-bricked. Recovery and Fastboot modes also not possible, so back to stock-ROM is no longer possible either. Only a flashing screen, and - when trying to enter fastboot mode, only short showings of the word fastboot, but no response in MiFlash. I think that a new phone is unavoidable.
Meanwhile, I've tried to enter EDL mode. Troed various fastboot commands, but no response from the telefone. Ultimately, I've tried to open the backcover (in order to reach the so-called "test points"), but that's easier said than done.
Website
is pretty clear, I know where to find those test points, but I'm lacking a 'heat gun', demonstarted in the youtube film. I tried it with a hairdryer, but that proved ineffective, moreover, the hairdryer stopped working (overheating?). Still need to check a possible fuse in the hardryer. Anyway, I'm awaiting a Redmi Note 11...

Clean flash (coming from a different ROM):
• Flash recovery (links above)
• Download ROM from the link above
• Download Magisk v23.0 or newer (optionally)
• Reboot to recovery
• Format data (if encrypted)
• Wipe system, vendor, cache, dalvik, data
• Flash latest android 11 global stable firmware (link above)
• Flash ROM zip
• Reboot and voila!
It mentions "flash recovery". The only method to install TWRP that I know, is through fastboot commands (fastboot flash recovery twrp.img, after having renamed the latest twrp image file), and then "fastboot reboot" while keeping Power + Volume Up pressed.
Prior to this, I had placed the firmware-, ROM- and Magisk-files on the phone.
After installing TWRP and Magisk, I wiped cache and Dalvik.
Then, when tried to flash the ROM, apparently that was wiped too. I think that it would have been better to reboot the phone after installation of TWRP and Magisk, then transfer the firmware and rom-files to the phone, and then boot into recovery again.
Anyway, that was not what I did...
Right after installation of TWRP and Magisk, having seen that the files to be flashed, were no longer there, I tried to install the firmware- and ROM-files with 'adb sideload' commands from TWRP. The flashing process seemd to go well, but booting to system proved disastrous...
A 'lesson learned' - at least for me: do not proceed if you - for some reason - can't follow the instructions. but break off, so that you can still reflash the stock-rom!
Sometimes, flashing the firmware with the Twrp does not work and you have to flash the complete rom with Miflash.
For EDL mode you will not have the necessary authorization.
See my PM.

what brick your phone is relocking the bootloader
never do that on a redmi note 8 !
I certainly did not relock the bootloader. After re-installing stock-ROM, unlocking the bootloader was always the first action before doing anything else...

Redmi note 8t(Willow).
Anyway, even if you had done it, it wouldn't have changed anything, except that you would have relocked the bootloader, since this model is intended for the global market with roms, Global, EEA, Russian, no CN roms.
Situation at present (4-11-2022): I have succeeded in opening the telephone in order to make the 'test points' approachable and to disconnect the battery. In the 'device manager', I've seen 'Qualcom' appearing on one of the com-ports. To continue, I now have to await a 24 hours break after too many times of opening my Mi-account during earlier attempts of flashing with the MiFlash tool .
.....
Well, 24 hours later, I've come to the conclusion that my brick definitively remains a brick. Tried again and again, but each time received an error "Cannot receive hello packet. MiFlash is trying to reset status.". And that's it...
Meanwhile, I had the impression that I might have better results with the Qualcomm tool QPST. The telephone - in EDL mode - was observed in QPST Configuration all right, but the flashing with QFIL failed with a consistent error: Unable to read packet header.
I've seen many reported occurrences of this error in various XDA fora, but nowhere a conclusive remedy. I'm out of options now...
Now, I get the information that the file that I want to flash, is too large. If only there could be a smaller file, only to restore the part of the os, through which to activate the fastboot and recoverymodes...
Well, after many tries, searching for solutions for the various Sahara fails that I encountered while using QFIL, I found a solution that really worked:
[GUIDE] How to unbrick RN8 (won't boot only backlight turns on for a second) using EDL
Hi all, after lots of trial & error, I would like to share how I managed to unbrick my Redmi Note 8 original thread: https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/need-redmi-note-8-firehose-without-authentication.4031513/ many thanks to dxD7 who provided...
forum.xda-developers.com
I could use the patched firehose file also on an older Global EEA version of the stock-ROM, and then everything worked fine... It took a while, updating the phone to the latest version, but that doesn't matter...
Well... the phone is working again with MIUI Global 12.5.5.0 (RCXEUXM).
Working, but... both IMEI's are null, therefore SIM cards are no longer recognized, which means that I can't use the dial function and can't use a mobile network. WiFi is working.
Moreover, the bootloader is locked again, but I can't unlock it with MiFlash Unlock, because this procedure requires connection via a mobile network. And without an unlocked bootloader, any possibility to root the phone, flash a repaired qcn file (with proper IMEI's), try out custom ROMs or whatever, is blocked...
Any option left? (Fastboot and EDL mode still possible).
Meanwhile, problems are solved to some extent:
Phone is unlocked, stock ROM re-installed, IMEI's are again reading correctly. Only problem remaining: network is not detected, i.e. dial-phone and mobile data not possible. Probably hardware-problem. (Tried all options I could find, but 'no joy'.)
Meanwhile, I have installed an SD card, and that makes all the difference. Tried installing PixelOS and PixelExperience: both installations problemless. Off course, still without dial-phone and mobile data. But, good enough to be confident to install a custom-ROM on my wife's Redmi Note 8T.

How to unlock without connection via a moble network since your phone lost IMEI?
I read every word you typed, and feel the mood you was at,
But in the end, a sad story.
I did flash my phone before I understood every procedure and knew how to fix or recover from it.
luckily things work as I expected.
Thanks God.

Thank you for your sympathetic response.
My answer to your question: Indeed, I don't have connection via a mobile network, and can't use dial-phone, but WiFi is all right.
When I started, trying to flash a custom-ROM, I did so with my experience of some years ago with my former phone: a Google Nexus (maguro) from 2011. Things were so much easier then, no data-encryption or whatever. As said earlier, the turning point was when I placed a cheap 32GB SD-card in my Redmi Note 8T. Now I could place all the necessary files on that SD card, which made the flashing (with OrangeFox) much easier. So, I'm not sad... The moment, my phone got hard-bricked, I bought a new phone (Redmi Note 11) for daily use. And then started learning: how to open the phone, where to find the "test points", how to get the EDL mode working, how to restore stock-ROM via EDL mode, how to restore IMEI's etc. etc. I have learned a lot, and every step was a question of try - retry - retry differently - retry again etc. But the ultimate success (with the exception of the "no network" problem, for which I couldn't find a solution) is quite rewarding. Of course, it took quite some time, but time is no problem for me. I'm retired a long time ago (I'm almost 80), so "it keeps me off the streets"...

Question POCO F3 gets stuck during flashing with MIUI 14 XIAOMI.EU

Hi all,
I hope someone will be able to guide me as how to recover from this.
So today I tried flashing my POCO F3 with MIUI 14 (xiaomi.eu_multi_HMK40_POCOF3_V14.0.4.0.TKHCNXM_v14-13) from the stock version MIUI 12.
I first successfuly unlocked the bootloader using MiUnlock. I then unlocked the developer options , usb unbugging etc. again on the fresh phone.
I also had USB / ADB and fastloader drivers installed.
I downloaded xiaomi.eu_multi_HMK40_POCOF3_V14.0.4.0.TKHCNXM_v14-13 , phone was already in fastboot and connected to the computer so run 'windows fastboot first install with data format' as an administrator which opened the cmd , after agreeing it started flashing the first few files successfully but when it gets to " Sending 'cmnlib64_ab' (504 KB) " the process just stopped there and it has been like this for around 30 mins - no error ...simply stuck on this step .....
I am not sure on what to do now to avoid bricking my phone, should I leave it connected ? Disconnect it and try flashing it again ? Download an older version of Xiaomi.Eu ROM (e.g MIUI 13 ) ?
Leave it connected for about 1 hour or so until you get success or error confirmation. If failed just reboot to system. If system failed to show up then go to fastboot again and install xiaomi.eu a12 version.
This is exactly why I hate fastboot method and always install rom from twrp
Flash 14.0.5 via orangefox recovery.
I left it overnight and nothing happened . I disconnected the phone and it rebooted ok. I am kind of worried about trying again. Is the twrp method safer ?
Just discovered that I stupidly set the "USB debugging (Security settings) on but I forgot to turn on "USB debugging" which is a few lines above in settings. Could that be what has stopped the process?
Phone should flash fine even if debugging is off. I would recommend you to make sure that the cable doesnt even move an inch during the whole flashing process as that sometimes interrupts it especially if you have a loose port.
I just switched the usb port from the back of the pc (which I think are USB 3.0) to the front panel of the PC (I suspect USB 2.0 ) and tried flashing the MIUI 14 from yesterday again - It worked !!!!

Fastboot not working in Windows 11 [Resolved]
Hello! I cant get my Windows 11 virtual machine to detect my Xiaomi 12 when its in Fastboot mode. Does any one happen to have any ideas to solve this? It shows up as 'Android' in device manager. I've also attempted to install a drivers manually...

Hi...
Is it possible to flash a ROM that says "...V12.0.6....V12-10" for example, on a device that shipped with MIUI 11 Android 10, directly, without first updating the device to MIUI 12 normally?

you can do if you flash the fastboot version by mi flash tool, and your bootloader is unlocked.

Thanks... I really appreciate the early reply.
But can't I do this using the recovery method? And also must the android and miui versions of both the global stock rom and custom rom be the same?
Nevermind...thanks for your help
if you want to flash specific version of android, then you need unlocked bootloader and mi flash tool, otherwise make updater app do its job. and no need for the global stock rom and custom rom be the same. just put in your mind to backup your data .
