it connects to the bigger motherboard ( the one with the cpu and other stuff) connect the two wires so they dont cross each other

Thanks but that doesn't answer the question.

It's connecting the daughter board to the mother board.
It's hard to tell what it does exactly without proper documentation, you could unplug them, power on the phone and see what doesn't work.
If I had to take a guess then I'd say they might be connectors for the antenna or gps.

Thanks. I think you are right. I got a second M8 from Amazon and GPS hasn't working. When I opened it I found that disconnected at the MB end. Connecting it and powering the phone up resulted in a GPS that locks.

I thought it was for the SD card, mine stopped working after i had replaced the screen and didnt know why, when i disassembled it again to check this wire (or the one next to it) was popped off the connector.
I always thought GPS was the little tab on the very top that touches the frame once assembled (unless that is just to use the frame as an aerial)

ok so what part is this and where can i get one?

and not just the front facing cam i mean that entire assembly complete including digitizer, lcd screen and what ever else is in there
Uploaded with ImageShack.us
I take it you cracked yours?
We just call it the "screen". It's the LCD with digitizer pre-fitted. Earpiece speaker and front cam are not included, you'll have to transfer them from the old screen to the new one.
any idea where i can get one? anything i search for i only get lcd screens and digitizers. i bought 2 digitizers for $45 dollars before i realized replacing one was probably above my ability

That I'm not sure about??
bumping this if anyone knows how to determine a small cable from a wide cable
http://www.ifixit.com/Teardown/HTC-Evo-4G-Teardown/2979/1
you have to open it, it's the cable nearest the charging port. if the bottom two are about the same size then you have the big one. hope that helps
edit:
also the smaller ribbon has the connection a little further into the board where as the big one you'll see it right on the edge of the board
ok cool so from what i remember when i did open it i would have the wide one

No way to know for sure without physical inspection.
If I had to guess I'd say the cable connecting the screen may have come loose.

Yeah. Was about to think that cable too. Gotta wait till i get opening kit and report after!
Okay, after disassembling and investigating i found the problem.
When i press this part of the phone with finger(red circle), it starts to flicker and bug like in the video above..
What this cable actually does, and how i could fix it..? Is it connecting to screen? Didnt found good guide to disassemble more so didnt do it.
Do i need to replace whole piece of phone.. (rounded with cyan color)?
without the back cover it works way better than with it.

What is that small silver block for, and what do I use to reattach it? Solder?
Thanks!
ok, after more research (thanks to the repair manual which I've attached) I've figured out what this component is called, but still no idea what it is for. Looks like there are 2 of these, one on each side of the motherboard, so if it's not necessary I can live without it.
Component is called "Filter 0.0 Hz 0402", what is that for?
The manual also says to remove/mount using Hot Air, but this is territory I don't have experience with. Do I need some kind of glue/paste to spread before using a heat gun to remount it?
Err I think it's a microphone.
Ok, yeah, I have figured out it's a microphone, and it seems to be the primary one facing in (positioned in the spot where your mouth would be when you talk on the phone), with the secondary facing out for when recording video...
Which brings up the question, how do I mount it? I'm being told that the for "pegs" of the microphone need to remain separately attached to the MB, so some glue wouldn't work since that would make it one big connection like a heatsink. Any ideas?

Phone damaged after dropping. Sim reader, micro sd reader not working. No sound.

So i dropped my zenfone 2 today. From what i read on internet it seems my lower power board got damaged is it it?
Phone is charging but quick charge isn't working.
Is there a way to fix it by myself?
Thanks in advance.
Edit: So i actually managed to bring sound and vibration back to life, but cant get sim and sd back to work, i can see a little crack on part of power board in plastic where u need to put the "tape" in. Could it be that due to this crack pins working for micro sd and sim arent working? Should i buy new power board to check it?
Edit 2: it also fixed quick charge.
how'd you fix your sound? I dropped mine and lost all sound earpiece and speakers
A connector came loose and the daughter board stopped working.
Reattach it, there are two connections that it can be.

Help! Vertical lines on the screen

Hey guys, so I recently have a problem with my Mi Max 3 and that is there are vertical lines appearing on the screen. Long story short, it fell off my bed when I was sleeping. I found the phone beside the floor of my bed, the screen was facing the floor. Everything seems functional. But for some reason, when I press the “middle” of the screen or lock the screen (press the power button) the vertical lines almost disappear. Now I have researched the problem but I’m not sure. My question is, is something loose or broken? Or something else, comment down below, any kind of help is appreciated

Either the display cable popped off the board or the display ribbon tore off the display. One is fixable without parts the other needs a new LCD.
