Is the LeEco le pro 3 Elite worth it in 2018? - LeEco Le Pro3 Guides, News, & Discussion

Hi,
as the title suggests this smartphone is currently my top pick, i have a tight budget (120 euros/140 dollars); and the Le pro 3 sits comfortably at 116 euros shipped.
Would you recommend it? I have zero experience with modding but i'd like to learn; are the chanches of hard bricking it (x722) high? I would not be able to replace it for while.
Thanks!

At this price you can't get any better.
A few phones at this range might have a bet camera and the official support is almost non-existent, but it's beautiful, well-constructed, has good battery, a good community and it's super fast and smooth. Is runs everything without lags and the processor is equivalent with the ones of iPhone 6s Plus and Samsung Galaxy S7, 300€/400€ phones.
There are currently 13 Oreo ROMS for it and will surely be more, P included.
As long as you flash files compatible with x722, you will not brick it.
Normally, it costs 150€, so run for it. NOW!
P.S. I think you posted in the wrong place, maybe you can ask a moderator to move the topic.

My bad, i thought this was the right section, sorry.

It still worth it AS A FLAGSHIP.

why should be worth? you have a "OnePlus3" inside as hardware.

The right place would have been the questions and answers section.
Just make sure you use the ROMs for the x722 some are universal some are not if you stick with the le pro 3 elite x722 development section you'll be pretty safe as long as you're careful and read everything in the first post you should be OK just make sure and do a full backup in twrp and copy it to your PC in case of problems. If your unsure about something don't do it till you're certain you understand the guide. Good luck

Yes and no.
If you want a phone that just works then get something else. Yeah, the Le Pro 3 has better looks and internals than other phones but the software is never perfect.
Currently all Oreo Roms drain the battery pretty fast, battery life is still good but not outstanding anymore. Also there are always some other minor issues like a wonky signal, app crashes as so forth.
The Redmi Note 4 or Mi A1 are the obvious other choice. You're getting a more "stable" package but the phones don't feel as premium, the RN4 also has worse camera.

Ah ... bullcrap. What does it mean "Oreo..drain the battery pretty fast"?
In technical terms, I charge the battery in the range 20-85%, and this delta of 65% = 2,645 mAh.
That charge lasts me a week (my Nokia E71 would not last that long).
Standby discharge + some usage = avg. 0.5%/hr (20mA/hr), airplane mode overnite = 0.1%/hr (4 mA/hr)
Maybe A1 with Nougat lasts longer with smaller battery, than X72x with Oreo...
And the RN4? To beg the commies for letting me to unlock my phone?
Really?
At this moment, the X722s (X720s long gone) are disappearing from the [Chinese] warehouses, ergo the price went over $200,
but if one doesn't have to pay any duties/taxes ... it is still a bargain for this 2 years old phone. https://tinyurl.com/ydamcw9y

Thanks, i've already ordered it so not much i can do now.
Will oreo roms improve over time? Or is oreo itself that drains more battery?

Don't worry, the phone is fine. The battery still lasts quite long but I haven't gotten 9h screen on time on any Oreo ROM anymore. Things are constantly improving, you just need to spend a little time to reading the forums and flashing a new ROM now and then.

For me, Oreo doesn't drain the battery, i can play demanding games for 6 hours. SOT can last for days(and I'm using performance mode)

Don't worry. I have 8h/9h of SOT with AEX rom and Blackscreen kernel.
Just follow the instructions and get support in telegram, xda, google +...
The xiaomi phones referred are pure crap comparing to Le Pro 3.p

After skimming throught the forum i think i'm going to flash AICP, it comes with a kernel that should help tuning performace/battery, right?

Great Battery on LOS Nougat roms!! :)

Hey folks. I'm sharing something nice i've been using for a week that I am very happy with.
First of all, I'm a humble guy and I'm not into coding like many respectable members from here are.
Since I changed to Los based ROM ( ressurection remix + dragonxia kernel- thanks to pappschlumpf, the only complaint I had was the battery. With MIUI ROMs battery used to last a lot ( at costs of performance and limited multitasking, I must say), and this was a nice Thing
After googling a little bit, I found out on XDA another thread belonging to people who uses the OP3 smartphone. On that thread they've created a project called AKT that states for advanced kernel tweaks.
So thing is, those tweaks were first released for snapdragon 820 processor, but latest versions supports tweaks on our Chipset (snapdragon 821). Using the instructions on the thread I was able to get a good battery with consistent performance ( need more time to quantify - I'm using zana balanced profile), much better comparing to stock settings. Its also good to remember that not all settings are applied because of the limitations of the kernel..
So here is the link:
:cyclops:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-3/how-to/advanced-interactive-governor-tweaks-t3476589
Hope it helps you if you were having the same problems as I was, any other suggestions are also welcome

Been using Ghostpepper from that thread for a while now, works great on both Lineage/RR and MIUI. Good stuff!

Hey. Can you just describe 'Great battery' with farther information(or proof) like how much Screen on Time(from 100 percentage to end), total battery life, used apps during the session etc? Saying just 'Great battery' doesn't mean a lot though. Thanks.

I know that app for a while, didn't try it yet though. I just wonder what does 'Great battery' mean for anyone who puts it into word. It means +9H SOT over a day for me, which I actually get.
Im sure there would be a difference but that wasn't the point of my post.

I agree with you my friend, and I think the more suitable world to describe it would be "better"
Since this is the first week im using AKT, im running some tests and varying many of the profiles on my daily smartphone use, so my battery levels aren't consistent to a fixed kind of profile
Anyway, As other user said, if you are on a LOS ROM you will notice how battery drain is very high. If you try it you will see the difference, and I think it's worth trying since it's free..
Here are some screens of my battery life. Used battery (ZHANA)profile in akt app. And 15% performance profile to play mupen64 games.
So u see batterylife is amazing in my opinion. And still have 20% left
I think the phone would make 18Hours battery with one charge.

And Im using my device with 9 active xposed modules, live status bar indicators, live widgets and wallpaper, lots of app including two or three games like RR3, brightness %60+ under the daylight, low 4G signal+wifi(Smart radio switch when screen is off) and here is what I get(sometimes):

That's very nice results, but:
1) Do you have problems with notifications on this MIUI rom(like messages not arriving at the real time when the phone is on standby)?
3) Do You also keep GPS ON?
2) Have you tried a LOS ROM?

Thanks,
1. Since background activity is restricted; nothing comes in background. Besides; I always disable whole notifications, led, for all those apps. I only check them when i want lol.
2. Yes, I've tried LOS for 15 minutes then returned to miui immediately.
3. I use navigation sometimes, it reduces SOT remarkably, that's why i keep it off when it's not needed.

I would even ignore if the battery would worse on Los, or RR though. I don't really care battery life since i've got a secondary device on my pocket. The deal breaker is Xposed all alone [emoji1] Dammit I can't stand without my status bar set up, not even for a day to test Nougats.

Hey, I got it and I agree with you, the best battery of this device is from MM MIUI.. But still you are keeping notifications not delivering properly and keeping GPS OFF.
Its a personal taste of course, but On LOS ROMS this phone is almost perfect, as another user mentioned here. On MIUI I had many problems about my notifications ( I didn't receive them without a significant delay) and with multitasking options, even disabling the tweaks to save battery.
Not to mention that MIUI is not customizable as LOS..
As I agree with the other user, this phone is a BEAST with LOS ROMS..
The only problem with LOS roms I had was the battery and the camera ( yea the camera has a better consistence on point-and-shoot mode on miui).
With this mod, battery is very good and acceptable, WITH GPS ON AND LTE ON AS WELL. For me, so far, it's lasting more than 12 hours with around 3:30 sot, LTE on and GPS on, and that's great
I think we'll have the best battery and performance when xiaomi releases official release nougat for our device

Konstantine, everyone understand that the battery is BETTER on MIUI ROMS. No discussion about it. What I'm talking about is a good battery that can last a Day with GPS, LTE on all the time, with no battery saving apps ( or background data restrictions), ON LOS roms. LOS ROMS .
If you use it on miui, I really don't know the results, but I think the battery WONT BE BETTER THAN IT ALREADY IS on miui Roms ( most specifically epic rom), if you use this mod
So, If you ever plan to try LOS roms, give this mod a try, it's nice.

Heat

Some phones are great to take camping because if you play Asphalt 8 long enough, the back warms up to the ideal temperature that can bake bread. Rate this thread to express the extent to which the Lenovo ZUK Z2 (Plus) stays cool under extended heavy use. A higher rating indicates that even when playing strenuous games for long periods of time, the phone doesn't get uncomfortably warm.
Then, drop a comment if you have anything to add!
Phone gets HOT when charging and even playing some mid-spec games :/
The heat can be felt outside of the back cover too

For me, AEX 4.5 is the greatest ROM for now on all aspects for the device (Great battery, many customzations, smooth and bugless).
Volte is working on most of the ROMs including AEX (there's no Volte in my country but other people have confirmed it)
(If you really care about security you could try Jaguar [it's targeted to slightly more advanced users] and i THINK most features come with Resurrection Remix)

Of-course this device has heating issue. I can certainly feel it even over the back cover. I am a light/moderate user, never play games. So, I can imagine how hot it will get if engaged in gaming.
Taking no credit from independent developers, but in my opinion the stock ROM is the best. There used to be a time when Android wasn't mature enough and these developers helped bring more options to the plate with custom ROMs. But now, it is not required. I used to be a active rooter/tweaker of devices but I have stopped doing them a year back.
Cool phone, cooler than most phones under load. Especially, cool during calls. A bit heating when using data
Got my heating issue resolved by capping the maximum processor speed at 1920MHZ. On stock room, after running 2 benchmark tests continuously, the temperature on the back was 39.8 degrees. On Aex v4.5, it touched 38 degrees.
I have noticed on my phone with different roms that some utilize or interact better with the baseband than others. On some roms my phone will run on H+ and not change to 4G/LTE. When this happens my phone starts to heat up, and I have to reboot it. After reboot it will connect to 4G. On other roms it will connect to 4G automatically. Just an observation that I have seen over the past couple of months. I am running baseband 9-00026-M8996FAAAANAZM-1.63821.1. Does anyone else have this issue?

Well, first you gotta have a custom kernel which supports cpu overclocking. I've had DarkMoon and Jaguar.... though I prefer DarkMoon.
Then there are two methods to actually underclock the processor:
The first is to use a software to underclock it directly...like set cpu, kernel adiutor, etc. This is a pretty safe process, without the risk of bricking the device.
The second way is by manually setting the clock speed for the "big" cores using something like termux/terminal emulator. This method is what I used for underclocking my device. This is a very direct method, though it has a HIGH RISK of bricking the device.
Before you type just check which cores are big.
In termux shell with root permissions, type:
echo "1920000" > /sys/devices/system/cpu/cpu2/cpufreq/cpuinfo_max_freq
echo "1920000" > /sys/devices/system/cpu/cpu3/cpufreq/cpuinfo_max_freq
And reboot!
Don't try 2nd method unless you are ready to risk bricking your phone!
P.S. : You can do the 2nd method using a root browser and a text editor as well. Just go to that path and open the file "cpuinfo_max_freq" and change the value to 1920000.

Remove the back cover, let the heat dissipate. It will cool down on it's own.
My heating issues completely solved on aex5.2 after I installed kernel aduitor and enabled thermal throttling. Performance impact is only a slight bit, 152k antutu 7 vs 172k with it off, but the phone is completely cool to the touch now. It's a Snapdragon 820 thing, and that the heat dissipation mechanism is a little budget oriented in the back. Still a solid device!

There used to be a time when Android wasn't mature enough and these developers helped bring more options to the plate with custom ROMs. But now, it is not required. I used to be a active rooter/tweaker of devices but I have stopped doing them a year back.

About heating I can't be of help because I dislike computer gaming, about custom ROM on this particular device which was born for just specific countries, on particular I'm referring to Chinese version, I think that it worth to flash to obtain a more tailored system. About the purchase today I will opt for a newer device since zuk z2 it's not the latest and as you probably know technology runs very fast.

I have this device since 2months and I never had any overheating issues. But if you don't want to flash a custom rom, then I will recommend you to buy a xiaomi, you can maybe wait 2 months and buy the redmi 5

ok then i think its better to move towards another brand
The best bet would be to purchase the phone and use it as much as you can and burn the phone ASAP and claim your warranty in this way there will be a lot of trouble for Lenovo Customer Services, and if they see this issue then only their developers will take steps to ensure optimum customization & performance with no heating solution.
This Mobile is at its EOL and that is the only purpose the mobile prices are reduced so much in India, Lenovo is looking forward with its MOTO brand and leaving behind its ZUK brand.
If you really don't care about warranty just download the unlock bootloader file and use your choice of ROM, and even if there is some damage, just revert back to original stock rom and claim your warranty.
But the best bet would be to continue @ the stock ROM and if the heating issue persists just try to burn the phone, in this way your are legally good to go and you can claim your warranty.

#1 - 3/32 version - don't buy, 4/64 version - yes
#2 - no
#3 - somewhat.. but now I am on custom rom, there is no heating
#4 - if you can't or don't want to install custom rom, yes go for another.... and best at this range only one phone is there - xiaomi note 4
But I will still rate this phone better than that... Because of size and it never hanged..
thanks for ur valuable opinions...

1. What custom ROM are you using?
2. Does that ROM have built in scheduled power on/of feature?

I know this review doesn't even matter anymore because you should have already purchased a new phone. And with the device being outdated and the company shut down.. This is meaningless, yet I wrote this because phone is still selling quite nicely in my country(India) and some new users can use this review.
1) There's no heating issue unless the phone is used for gaming for a quite duration like 1 hour continuously. But that's natural right ?
2) The heating issue shows up in Summer.
Just a day before I wrote this review, my room temperature was 38 Degree Celcius and phone started lagging even when I watched just a single youtube video. I Thought I must be dreaming. SD 820 and lag ? Even decided to take a stupid step and checked Antutu scores (as I knew they will drop when heating occurs) And Surprise ! The Score was 53K ? I reset the phone thinking that Rom might be misbehaving as this is my 1st device that I haven't reset in 2.5 months. Again with an Antutu test I get 85K ?
So this is just atmospheric heat. My guess was just that to keep the costs low, they might have used the low quality materials. But who knows ? I'm not aware much about heat dissipation system used in Z2.
Conclusion : If you're a heavy gamer, don't go for this phone. Plus my review is based on Stock Rom. I haven't yet void my warranty. ? Custom Rom might even be different but Hardware issues wouldn't be solved that easily.. An average user can go for this phone with eyes closed. You won't get such an astonishing SoC at this price.
Verdict : I used phones like LG G3 Beat and Samsung Galaxy S5 before this one. I feel that touchscreen on this phone isn't as smooth as the other phones. Even mid or low-ranged Oppo and Xiaomi have better touch response. Again I might be wrong as I haven't used Custom ROM yet. But I'll update this review for sure after using custom ROMs on this phone. Would hardly take 1-2 months. ?

Hi! Any Updates?

Best SOT and performance 8.1 rom/kernel

I use my phone to play hardcore 3d MMOs alot, there Is a huge
Amount of roms and kernel out there now for 8.1 I'm looking to get some information on which combination is going to maximize the screen on time while gaming or what kind of figures people are getting without killing the performance, as any gamer can tell u frames per second is life. Lag and microstutter sucks.
No

DU, RR, I don't care which one I use, I'm just testing DU for now, working better than RR
I'm going to test out DU later tonight with EX no shadez,
My way of testing is I have my phone at 100% and starting gaming at night, so I can get a true reading of screen on time, I've gotten over one hour of screen time per 20% to really horrible like 20mins screentime for 40% of battery, my game of choice was crusaders of light (high intensity wow clone style graphics) but now I have switched to lineage 2 ( unreal 4 engine) vulkan API I think. Resurrection remix was giving me easily over an hour of screen on time to battery ratio but...for some reason the fast charge function doesn't function properly on it. If anyone else cares to test it load up lineage 2 with ex shaded kernel set graphics high or Max and lemee know how it runs. I love this forum thanks for the participation .

I have loaded up so many roms n kernels I have no idea what to expect anymore, but I think 3 hours from 100-10% is the best I ever got and that was on 7.1.1 I thinj
This should be in the questions and answers section.
need to have a mod move this thread then

That's what I'm using
DU stock ended with bad hesitation on pop in of mobs and players , loaded up ex shadez and im confident its probably extreme highs and lows switching of CPU causing this wave like microstutter performance in 3d apps. His kernel is bomb though
battery life and pure performance so far leading the pack on resurrection remix with its included kernel, but for some reason it doesnt like to fast charge....i have no idea wtf is up with that, going to try stock + elemental ex right now
So far I find DU by @joeeboogz is the best. Try it, you won't regret it
Nobody can base the best sot on their device alone. Everybodies usage may vary. Also setups will always be different for each person. I get great battery life because i focus on stuff like apps running in the background. That's a biggie for me. I don't play games or watch movies. I make calls check text go on GitHub and research rom stuff and that's about it. I pretty much keep a stock kernel and it's fine for me. I have gotten over 6 hours normally of sot and usually I just charge at night. That being said I always have two phones on me so I sometimes switch. But I'm running my du and it's great. Also keep in mind phones take a few days to settle in after flashing so charging to a hundred percent then testing sot right after flashing a rom is going to be very inaccurate. Do it for a week straight the first 3 days probably won't be the same. But after phone settles readings will be more accurate. Good luck guys and maybe think about switching this to the discussion thread

Mi6 really slow after upgrade to 9.5.9 Beta

Hello,
a few days ago my Mi6 (4GB/64GB) upgraded to Pie (9.5.9 Beta) by OTA.
After that, the phone isnt smooth as in the past.
Sometimes starting apps from links while browsing - like ebay or amazon- fails.
Phone take little brakes.
Soundstreaming to a Bluetooth Soundbox is horrible, many little stops.
Does anyone has the same experience or issues after upgrading?
Best regards Christian
I always have this rule, if i upgrading. Example: from Android 8.0 to 9.0, then i doing full wipe, but older system leaves so many trash in system files.
I install 9.5.9 on my Mi6 128GB with MiFlash and dont have any problems, very stable rom, good battery performance.

Thanks mate. I will think about doing a full wipe. The battery performance is also not the best. Its not worse , but battery drain in oreo was much better.
