Factory reset and erecovery reset does nothing to /system.
So what ever was flashed is still there. My advise would be to try flash your stock rom. Full-ota only.

If you keep pressing volume up, do you end up in recovery (twrp), or does it still continue to bootloop?

ok, thats good.
Not sure what got changed on device during bad install, so suggest doing full-ota forced update.
you had oreo , correct?
what device number / model?
1. download the ota-full files from
http://pro-teammt.ru/firmware-database/?firmware_model=bND&firmware_page=0
2. make folder on external sdcard "HWOTA8"
3. put downloaded files into folder with no-check-oreo-recovery
4. put hwota-7-&-8-update.zip in folder
5. twrp install hwota-7-&-8-update.zip
it will install the update files, you will be back to working stock emui 8, ready for you to start modding it again.
(possibly might need factory reset when done, to clear remaining bad files from bad install)
hwota-7-8-auto, with no-check recovery download

there is a modified stock recovery that is used to install ota update files. It has been modified to "not check" version numbers. So it will install anything.
It is included in the zip fie at the download link I shared

u have to do flashing to load lg bootloader and with that bootloader installed u cant use cmw or modified rom. after alot of search, i have not found a way to boot into stock recovery once cmw is installed. u can instal rom mananger from playstore if ur phone is rooted than make a back up of ur rom on sd card plus all cmw recoveries provide backup but i found twrp recovery much better as it provide better ui and more functionality

I tried the rom manager but it can't extract the default recovery. However what I get now by searching for many hours that what I want is dumping the stock recovery and stock bootloader and combining into single .img file i.e bootl.img and recovery.img that I able to push back furing the normal running to get the stock recovery back and the bootloader without the ICE Engineer version showing after I flash the custom rom
twrp have the better ui but the one I found for 6200 have some problems I not remember but it had some issue mounting the system for wipe I think so I use the CMW instead both are good and perform the required function I suppose

Is there any app like titanium backup that don't require root?

It is a little annoying that I can't use OTA because of my custom recovery (TWRP).
As of now I need root for 1 thing: backing up my apps.
Is there any way to backup apps the same as in Titanium backup (with the data of the apps) but without root?
This way I could use the OTA to update the phone
Thanks,
orma
Try out Helium Backup. It's free on the app store. You need to install this app on a PC however to enable backing up.
I tried it, but some apps cannot be backed up and the one I need the most is also in the list.
Is there any other way?
Here's what to do, root your phone and then get flashfire. You'll be able to flash the ota with it maintaining root and a custom recovery if you use it. You can also create backups with flashfire. You get the best of both worlds. Don't forget you can also download the ota's from Google if you can't wait for them to be pushed to your phone. It's also easier this way.
Can't I just use TWRP to flash the ota image?
I already have it installed
You'll loose root and twrp for sure and I don't think it will flash because you have twrp installed.

Yes. Some of its self explanatory. You're going to want to inject supersu, everoot, and in reboot have normal and preserve recovery checked.

That doesn't make any sense. I've done this 20 or more times with various nexus devices. It's possible the file was corrupted while downloading. Can you find the file on your device. It'd try downloading it again.
You're using the flash zip or ota and not firmware package?

sorry for all of those question but the description of this make it sound like it would install the stock recovery instead of twrp
the description: Attempt restore stock boot and recovery images before flashing. May be required for some OTAs. Disable for non-OTA updates.
When you hit the check mark on that screen you'll be brought to another screen. On that one you'll see reboot. Click on that and you'll have the option to preserve recovery. That's were it'll keep twrp on your device. So restore boot and recovery is the correct setting

Honor 7X Oreo Stock Recovery

Hi, I manually updated my honor 7x (BND AL10 INDIAN) to EMUI 8 following the other post in this forum and after that I went on to flash TWRP recovery again from another post "complete_twrp_ramdisk.img" so that I could take full Nand backups and what not. But Here's the problem, When I try to flash the stock recovery back "BND_RECOVERY_NOcheck" which I flashed during upgrading to EMUI 8, it says "size of image is large than target device"
I tried this using boot fastboot command "fastboot flash recovery_ramdisk recovery.img" and also using the TWRP. It doesn't work either way. So I'm basically stuck with TWRP. The reason I want stock recovery is because
1. I can install OTA UPDATES on EMUI 8 (I actually got one)
2. I may want to just be on complete stock like locked bootloader, sock recovery etc...
Could any one help?? Maybe I need the right stock recovery file ?
BTW It's my first post ever so please go easy if I did any mistakes.
Could you share your twrp? Thanks!

"BND_RECOVERY_NOcheck" is nouget stock recovery.
Oreo update replaces all the partitions, including the recovery that you flashed in order to install the update.
The stock recovery can be extracted from "update.app" , the one inside the oreo "updateL22.zip"

you should already have the update.zip.
use same one you "manualy" installed.
winrar did not work for me but 7-zip did.
there is also rom extractor built into "multi-tool" and stand alone extractor around here some where.
I found it here
the name is just like the twrp you flashed and just like the partition that you flashed. (recovery_ramdisk.img)

I dont know.
The new way to boot to recovery was written in other thread as "hold both volume buttons & power button"
not sure if it was a problem with extraction or not, but attached is the recovery I extracted. do not have it installed. I dont even have oreo installed., I'm still pulling files together and reading the update-scripts and trying to convince myself if it is worth trying it.

I have now jumped on board and did oreo conversion on L24, then flashed RR. I went and installed the oreo recovery, then back to this stock recovery. It worked fine for me.

Hey bro thefe are too many files there will it flash through fastboot or twrp and how to flash one by one pls help me
Hello all,
thanks for all the info in this thread.
I bricked my Honox 7x (BND-LC21) by trying to go Oreo.
The installation went halfway through, but now I can't complete (missing info howto flash bootloader / kernel) and I also can't go back as the partition layout has already changed to oreo style.
Steps done so far:
- unlocked boot loader
- installed twrp
- extract system image and recovery image from oreo update zip
getting the phone in fastboot mode i can successfully run
fastboot flash recovery_ramdisk recovery_ramdisk.img (i can also flash old recoveries this way, but none of them will successfully boot into recovery mode)
fastboot flash system system.img
either way, the system will not boot afterwards.
how do I manually flash bootloader / kernel on the oreo partition layout?
erecovery and hisuite won't recover my phone either...
Any hints appreciated

Can I flash just the stock recovery to my phone and if so is it the recover_ramdis.img, or do I need to flash them all. I'm on mostly stock bnd-l24. Unlocked bootloader TWRP and magisk for root. There's a new update and i wanted to flash stock recovery so I could update.

Hello all,
thanks for all the info in this thread.

FingerPrint and themes not working

I was on nougat on my L21_hw_eu before i tried to upgrade manualy to oreo. i tried the twrp and terminal method and my phone started upgading. It failed at 72% saying "update verification failed". I lost my stock rom and bricked my phone.
Then i manualy flashed different Update.app images and was able to unbrick my phone .
I tried lineage OS and stock oreo.
Problems are:
1: I cant factory reset my phone using stock recovery it fails at 24%
2: FingerPrint Sensor won't work except for gestures (in Stock oreo. works in LineageOs)
3: Themes dont work
4: Flash light don't work
4: CAMERA is not responding. in both roms
in lineageOs everything works perfectly except Camera.
Please provide me details for what am i doing wrong..

If you only have extracted images flashed from update.app, then you do not have the full rom installed.
You should run either hurupdater of HWOTA again to get full emui8 installed.

i flashed different images from UPDATE.APP manually through fastboot and twrp.. I was succesfull and fingerprint was working but camera was still not working so i stupidity flashed DTS.IMG, ODM.img, and ERECOVERY_KERNEL.img through twrp and when i rebooted. there was completely black screen and nothing was working. fastboot only recognizes device and i m able to send commands . i wanted to flash other dts,odm and ERECOVERY_KERNEL.img through fastboot but it says "remote command not allowed". there is absolutely no life in phone. i think it is hard bricked. is there a way to get device back?? or else i m completely F****D.

can not explain it, but I have seen that camra not working problem, and the blank black screenfixed by flashing the vendor partiton. The bad part about that is, i do not think it flashes with fastboot.

As far as I know (which is not that far). You need three images to be correct for recovery to load on oreo based device.
1. recovery_ramdisk.img
2. kernel.img
3. recovery_vbmeta
try to flash those in fastboot first. and see if they complete without error.
then if they do flash, try to boot into recovery. (try with stock first-- can try TWRP after if this works)

Can bootloader be unlocked on ATT V35 V350AWM I can't find it anywhere? There seems to be some talk it cannot be done?
What's the benefit without ROM's for rooting your phone? Magisk modules?

Yes. On my V30 I've never installed a custom ROM. Rooted stock firmware when the TWRP custom recovery (gift by itself for backups), Magisk mods, Xposed mods. You can tweak yourself without having to install a ROM.
During flashing, you may see error messages about 'unable to unmount vendor'. This is fine as long as the zip flashing doesn't fail halfway.

realllllllllllly important. I kept getting unable to mount xx (one of vendor system systemroot randomly) and didn't notice it meant the magisk sticked until I gave up and was ready to settle with no twrp.

Did you wipe your data after flashing the files?
The same happened to me once, I solved that by flashing via upgrade the stock firmware, and then re-rooted.

I just went back to TWRP and used his boot.img to flash within TWRP to boot's partition and then I was able to boot without any issues, I was thinking the same, but it looked more work to do.
