s7 edge charges wirelessly in a note 7 samsung battery Backpack & a note FE doesn't??
Hey, not exactly an expert with smartphones, but have sold phone accessories for the past couple of years. Due to this I obviously noticed that there was an awful lot of note 7 accessories selling extremely cheaply. So I thought id get a not FE as it has the exact same dimensions and could get some excellent accessories for it (seriously, this was my primary motivation for buying the phone). Unbeknownst to me Samsung has blocked its not 7 accessories from working with the note FE, absolute nightmare. Petty and childish if you ask me.....
unfortunately I had already purchased a note 7 backpack for my FE which clearly does not work, however if I sit a galaxy s7 edge in it, it charges fine, just like any qi charger. This makes me think that if I root the note fe the backpack may work with it?
Is this correct or am I completely wrong?
If anybody has any experience of using the note 7 backpack with a rooted note fe it would be great to hear from you. I will happily root the phone just to use the backpack, plus the Korean preinstalled apps are annoying.
Thanks in advance for any help which is greatly appreciated

Yes. That would be the case. It's not that the accessories won't work with the note FE. Note FE actually supports it, it's just that it is disabled from the software. You can root and take a look if you can re enable it again. I dunno if there is thread talking about it, but you can look it up. Good Luck

Check it with new software update which is comes recently i mean on oreo weather it charge or not with this software

Never got the chance to use Note 7's wireless charging case, however s6 edge+'s wireless charging cover works fine, so it's probably disabled from software, also where were you able to buy the case, the ones i found were either ridiculously expensive or not on stock.

XDA member, KAL26, and me noticed that if note FE put normally in the "note 7 OEM battery case", it will charge for a few seconds, then show wireless charging paused, but if the phone put in plastic back case like that show in the attached photos, and rested perpendicularly on the OEM note 7 charging case, (or at particular angle; see attached photos) the phone charges with no issues or interruptions
I think samsung has changed the position of the wireless receiver in note FE, Or
another possibility is that note FE is able to detect the note 7 OEM battery case by particular sensor(s) (most probable magnetic field sensor) and forced wireless charging to puse. if this idea is true, then one can make the OEM battery case works by disabling such sensor(S) using certain apps such as ([XPOSED] Sensor Disabler) from google play, but unfortunately, this app needs rooted device, my device is un-rooted thus i can't check this idea
waiting for expert explanations and opinions

Did you update your Note-FE to Android 9? In my opinion, this battery case can only be used on Note FE which run on Android 7......
I tested my Note-FE which could use this back pack with no issues and ran on Android 7 ,but my machine couldn‘t use this because my device usually run on Android 8,Android 9 or Android 10 !

Used Galaxy Tab S, what to look out for?

I'm looking at picking up a used Galaxy Tab S 10.5. I was planning to use it mostly as an E-reader for my morning commute and to view pictures from SD media / browse the web. After looking around this tablet seems like the best bang for my buck used. I've been considering both at a T-mobile variant, but I'm also considering Sprint, since I am on one of their MVNOs. Are all US providers using T807?
Just wondering what I should look out for, and how to check them out. Here's some things I can think of, but not sure if they exist or not:
Worn charging port.
Battery issues
Manufacturing defects.
Boot loops. ( If non stock upgrade? )
ESN
Locked Bootloader / Carrier Locking
T805 vs T807
etc.
Anybody have a list or reference of things to look out for with this model, possibly how to check it out?
Also wondering about the differences between the versions. It appears that there are some basebands available. Then http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-tab-s/general/t705-marshmallow-bootloaders-t3477462 . Then can a T805 be flashed to a T807 and vice versa, maybe for international travel?
The T807 has an locked bootloader so you cannot flash any roms or maybe even root, So the T805 would be the one to buy, but do you really need cell as it uses battery power, if not get the T800.
If the T8XX looks physically OK, and runs OK, the battery is the main thing to look at, But replacement battery are quite cheap at from $10 if you can fit it yourself, it looks easy in YouTube video`s
John.
That's too bad nobody has figured out how to unlock the bootloader since the device has been around for quite awhile. It looks to be around a factor of 2 times more expensive when I look for a 805 vs 807. I do think it's useful to have a cellular available as an option. But you have made a good point.
The 10.5 Tab S is still slightly too heavy for web browsing or ebook reading if you need to hold it in your hand all the time (it's like 450grams). I mean, it sure works a lot better for this purpose than any Microsoft Surface tablet, which are really thick and heavy for a tablet, but lighter tablets exist, for example Tab S2.
And S has a wide screen, which is less optimal for ebook or web browsing. For these reasons, I'd look for the smaller 8 inch Tab S which weights under 300grams, or more preferably for a Tab S2 model.
Since its an OLED, look out for burn in.
Worn charging port. and battery issue. Beside that they are quite tough. This is why i refrain from testing too much, the USB port is not made of super steel, it's starting to talk to me saying : give me a break !
Have a look at the magnetic microusb adapters, they just clip in, I have one on my T800 and it works great, no more port wear.
There are a few different brands available, also different widths if you use a case, the link below is just an example.

I ended up purchasing a T807P, since I will be able to use it with my wireless provider. Thanks for the feedback. The magnetic charging cable seems like a great idea. Looking forward to the arrival of my tablet.
Anybody using theirs in car for navigation? Any mount recommendations?

Note 8.0 S-Pen issues

My Note 8.0 on Kit Kat 4.2.2 works but the S-Pen has become unresponsive. So I bought a new one eBay or Amazon. It is not an exact fit in the storage slot and doesn't go all the way in. More importantly it doesn't work at all.
However, I also own a Note 3 phone and after replacing the nib (it was worn out) it not only fixed the sluggish issues on my phone, but it now works equally well on my Note 8.0 tablet. When I first got the phone the Note 3 S-Pen did not work on the tablet, and it seems to be a different device, but now after having both devices for a few years, the Note 3 stylus works with both devices. But it is a loose fit in the storage. I'm sure I'd end up losing it if I tried to store it there.

Samsung Keyboard Dock for N-8010

I know it's a long shot, but if anyone has the keyboard dock for the n-8010 that you're no longer in need of, I'm interested in purchasing one. I believe it's Samsung part EKD-K14AWEGTGY or perhaps EKD-K14UWEGSTD would work as well.
All of the docks in eBay are for Galaxy Tab 10.1 and those won't work.
Hi, I have one. I bought it a few years ago, but I think you will be disappointed: is almost useless. When you connect the dock, the soft keyboard always comes up (at least with the original rom). This is very annoying. I don't know if it works better with other roms. Maybe I know that soon, because I am fed up with the original rom: more and more websites don't work properly anymore. I'm trying to install Lineage, but I still have to do some reading...
Oh, and if I remember well, the key buttons are of poor quality: often you will get a character twice. Like this: Hoow aare youu?
But I do live in the Netherlands, so that's a long way for you.
Ffonz.
If you do make the change to Lineage, you'll have a feature that will allow you to quickly switch the on screen keyboard on and off. It's a good OS and I am happy with it. By now, I'm almost ready to replace my Note 10.1 with something that has more than 16gb of storage, even though I still like this tablet.

[Note 10+][Tab S6][DeX] Will it work?

I'll cut right to the chase. I don't have a Tab to test this out with, so figure it's to the Interwebz.
So you can link a Note to a Windows 10 laptop with the usb-c cable, you can link a Note to a tv with an hdmi cable, you can link a Tab S6 to a Windows 10 laptop with the usb-c cable and you can link a Tab S6 to a tv with an hdmi cable.
But, can you link a Note 10+ directly to a Tab S6 and treat the tab as the connected display?
I have looked and looked and found no details that say it is supported, but also have not found anyone attempting this. If a Tab could be treated as a portable Smart display, I would be so so so happy.
... will it work?

If you are talking about HDMI-in on the tablet, then it doesn't have that capability either because the USB-C port does not take display input. The only possible way to broadcast a screen on the tablet is to use Samsung's SmartView functionality which allows you to share screen between Samsung device. However, that app is finicky and I have not have success with my Tab S4.

Firstly,
I don't have a Tab S6 but older Tab A (2016)
I do have a Note 10 +
I have installed Samsung Flow which incorporates Smart View.
I can connect wifi direct method or Bluetooth from
my Tab A to Note 10 +
No issues, overall.
Connects every time.
Yes, it's a little bit "laggy" but quite acceptable for my use.!
I can control my Note 10 + from my Tab A (mirror)
See screenshots taken from Smart view @ Samsung Flow Tab A mirroring Note 10+
Note ...
If i can control my Note10+ from older Tab A ,it surely should work from a newer Tab S6....??
Hope this is what OP had in mind ?
Good luck
Post note.
Further examples.
i can receive notifications from outside, intended for Note 10 +
View them on my tab.
My notifications on Note 10 +,
is set to a notification bubble.
I can tap on the bubble on my Tab and view notifications.
I can answer calls etc for Note 10 +
via tab.
Further you can automatically dim your Note10 via Smart View.
To use tab you slide brightness up via tab etc
To save battery on "dormant" device.
I can pick my Note 10 up and carry on where i left off. etc
Whilst, I'm typing this post note it's mirrors every word on Tab.
I have put my Note 10 down and carry on typing this "note from my Tab.
There is a very slight lag but quite acceptable.
I Use the Wifi direct input rather than Bluetooth.
Good luck.

see my post #5 above
good luck
Thanks for your replies.
So it is probably apparent that I have a few use cases in mind for my question.
For the example, I'm specifically referencing 4 devices: Note 10+, 17.3" Windows 10 Laptop, Xbox One S, and a "theoretical Future version of the Tab S".
1) I am a professional software developer and I hate working from a single monitor. My workstation drives 5 displays (counting my open laptop) and being without a mobile monitor means that I am always tethered to my workstation to do work. The portability of Galaxy devices doesn't really help me get work done atthe moment. It just makes it easier to "carry my stuff" endpoint to endpoint. I need a portable second monitor to be able to do work wherever I am and realistically, if the flagship devices were to become upgraded to support DP-Alt as a default feature, I could use DisplayPort's native daisy chaining feature to hypothetically drive multiple external displays. At the point I can cable my Note to two Tabs via DP-Alt and have 2 external displays, my Note (whatever future iteration would add support for this) would become my primary personal computer rather than my ultrabook. But the starting poijt towards that goal would be to upgrade the Tab for receiving DisplayPort-Alt input
2) I am building a vehicle and want to build in a couple of XBox Ones into the backseat for my children, but I don't want to install permanent, single purpose displays into the vehicle. The displays need to be portable. Miracast is far too slow for gaming (old, deprecated fallback casting protocol)
3) The screen on my Note 10+ is amazing, but when I'm wanting to watch a video in bed, I always find myself wanting a larger, higher quality screen. I will never permanently install a television in my bedroom, so I need this screen to be portable. (Miracast is ok for this because video is non-interactive)
4) I run multiple gaming systems directly on my phone and when I want to play a multiplayer SNES game, I really want to be able to display it on a screen large enough that we can both view comfortably. I don't want to run these games from a tablet. I just want to take advantage of its larger, higher quality display.
5) I carry my Note 10+ everywhere and sometimes I want to work with it on a larger screen but I don't want to carry my laptop with me. (Miracast is suboptimal. The delay is not terrible, but I want no delay)
Essentially, if the Tab can receive DisplayPort over USB-C (known by VESA as Display Port Alt-Mode) then it is immediately upgraded to be the only portable monitor on the market with a sAMOLED display, it could be natively treated by a DeX enabled smartphone as an external display (and therefore a Note would be able to natively DeX with a Tab), and a Windows laptop or Surface Pro would be able to treat it as an extended display so mobile productivity would more closely resemble a multi-monitor workstation setup.
Samsung does not currently have a product offering in the "portable usb-c monitor" market segment and -on some fairly extensive research- there are zero portable usb-c monitors available with an AMOLED display. The highest quality ones available are IPS and they are in the $300-400 range for non-touch and $400-500 range for touch enabled displays. But none of them have any ability to be used for anything other than as a dumb display.
If the Tab were extended with this capability, it immediately becomes the exact device that Samsung has been missing in the middle of its "Galaxy for Business" strategy and it becomes a perfect portable companion to Windows portable devices.
So, I'm very intrigued by any possibility for this to come in the near future.
I mean....*why not*? It seems to make so much sense to me as the killer feature that solidifies the Samsung+Microsoft partnership.

This is consistent with my expectations. I spoke with Samsung Technical Support on an unrelated issue (Data Usage is 3x the app data math on my Note since the One UI 2.0 Update) and took the time to ask a couple of targetted questions about this support being currently available or available in the near future.
The tech communicated to me that they are working with pre-release devices in the Samsung building and that there are multiple combinations of devices that "just work" with a USB-C cable (probably TB or USB 3.2 Gen2x2) without the reliance on Miracast, but he had zero insight into the specifics of any future Tab model.
Either HDMI-Alt or DisplayPort-Alt would be fine for my purposes. I'd personally prefer it to work with DP-Alt but HDMI is more ubiquitous so there would be more mileage for this hypothetical feature.

Question First Fold. Any good car mounts?

Looking forward to getting my first Fold next week. I'm struggling to find a good car mount. Anyone have a recommendation. Thanks
I saw a review on this one by flossycarter. It's also a wireless charger and seems good. I'm going to order it once the phone arrives.

I have the same kind in the previous post and have used it for my Fold 3 since last year. It works fine, I just do not like that it covers up the buttons.
I just order this one from amazon and you can charge your phone in the upright position not just on the side.

Performing great as a charger and hold the phone great. Quick fastening/release. No real experience driving the phone open yet though (too early to tell). Drove with it and a S20+ phone it it (landscape) with the air vent mount, and like it.

And I have this . I'm very disappointed. Lock mechanism on arm broke the first week with 3 times use, overall 1 hour use. The second problem I have is at the mechanism that opens the flaps that holds the phone . This is came without using the mount . After the broken arm I had never use and the mechanism had start crackling on its own. How many days you make use of it ?

First, really sorry to hear you have issues so quick with it, and it is a concern for mine as well, I guess. As stated, I got the phone only on the 24th. I got the mount few days before and drove with a S20+ in it. So far it works fine. Grip the phone folded and open, and even charges with the Samsung case and the pen inserted (when folded). Looks like you got a lemon, which is not good over all. Again- not affiliated with the source in any ways.. mine works great but as you pointed out (and so did I) - no long term use yet.. There are 27 reviews on Amazon, 25% are not happy, the other 75% are, so , will see how this develops over time. There is also a major point to mention - the FOLD phone is heavy. I would not use the air vent (although it is designed to put the weight on the solid area under the vent) and with the suction cup, I have installed it in a manner the mount is touching the dashboard for stability and weight sharing.. not that this will help if the motor and moving parts just poor quality, or that the quality control of production do not screen the bad ones..

They do, and I used them for years with other phones.. The problem is they do not have good Qi charging options, and the the Fold 4 they offer only a mount for it folded. Their quality is superb , no doubt, they are just years behind in term of technology.. The last thing I want is to connect manually a USB cable every time I am in and out the car. The wireless charger is so much better..
