is it possible to change system font without root? - Sony Xperia XZ2 Compact Questions & Answers

Back in the xz3 compact days i had root and could do whatever i wanted. Had also xposed modules and so on and it was great.
I cannot find any information if i can change the system font to roboto light without root on the xz2(c). Has anyone of you information for xperia and oreo if this will work without root?

Please avoid using Xperia themes

I know since our device got the 4.3 update lots of us have wanted to try the xperia themes. While there are methods to patch the OS or manually install the theme APK's please avoid doing so. While the theme may be installed and may appear to be working, there are problems with UI elements (i.e. on-screen navigation buttons don't change). Firstly, the unofficial 'patch' of sorts installs the APK, but not all of the UI gets updated by the theme. Secondly, if you try switching from a theme that was installed to the phone (excluding the preinstalled ones), certain UI elements don't work properly (i.e. volume popup disappearing or not updating). Thirdly, the downloaded themes make the device lag, as compared to how smooth the preinstalled themes work.
So let us all wait on Sony to do their official update. The xperia themes can wait.

See the following thread in the Xperia M General section:
[SS/DS] [LB] Nicki Root - Full root method for Android 4.3 update (v1.1)
This provides root access for Locked Bootloader Xperia M
If you already have Android 4.3 on your phone you'll have to re-flash Android 4.1.2 to start the root process.

How to change fonts for lollipop 5.1.1 ?

Please guide me so that I can change fonts on my lollipop 5.1.1 updated xperia T2 ultra dual (d5322) fully rooted and dual recovery installed.
I've changed fonts earlier in GB, JB and kitkat by pushing fonts to device manually/ by help of font changer apps. But as lollipop uses some different kind of resource management ART, I don't want to mess up things. Kindly assist..
Thanks
On Stock rom and odexed
check this > http://forum.xda-developers.com/android/themes/fonts-flashable-zips-t2964304
Q : I have D5322 too , Did you root the phone after flashing 5.1.1 ftf via flashtool or you just flashed a flashable prerooted rom using recovery ?
I used I font and it worked great.
They are flashable zips but always worried how to revert to stock fonts back. Anyways thanks for replying

[Q] Is it possible to install a new font?

Hi,
I know one can install new fonts from LG World, but most of these are variations on a (crap) theme? Handwriting and 'flowery' fonts and such like.
I have tried to modify an APK file with the Roboto Condensed Font, resigned the APK which installs but doesn't show the Roboto Condensed Font.
Without root, is there any other way to install 'custom' fonts by modifying an APK that comes from a free font from LG World?
Thanks for any help. I'm sure lots of others would be interested in this?
:fingers-crossed:
I'm interested, tried the same, no luck.
Need Roboto Condensed for LG phone.
Devs please??
in theme section theres a font zip. flash in twrp. but cant remember if it has that requested front.
I'm upgraded from g4 815 to Oppo r11s and wanna install the Oreo emoji ttf without root on nougat stock
I'm in a similar situation. I've developed my own font and want to install it on my LG Tribute Dynasty 7.1 unrooted.
I'd like to install it the legit way instead of renaming the font file or rooting the phone.
Is it possible to develop an installer using App Inventor 2 or Thunkable to do this?
I have some prior programming knowledge (php, JavaScript) so I'm not unfamiliar with programming entirely.
I am trying ifont donate package but still can't change font !!

Custom Fonts

I know that Wings made customs fonts possible on the S10, but since the TAB S4 does not have access to the theme store, is there any method of getting custom fonts after upgrading to Pie?
I'm assuming GxFonts works on Pie. I've used it to change font on mine while on Oreo and font is still applied after updating to Pie.
Unfortunately, I don't think this is possible since there is no theme support to so Wings fonts can work properly, also GxFonts not working because Samsung decided to block custom fonts installation with the Pie update

How to add new font to Q rom themes?

/system/fonts?
There's plenty of Magisk modules that add fonts without modifying the system partition.
I don't know if there's a non-root way to add fonts.

I'm sure it depends greatly on the app. Android wasn't designed with arbitrary font availability.
I googled Magisk font Android and found lots of things. This one has a template if the font you want is not already packaged.
