S8 plus issue connecting to wifi drones - Verizon Samsung Galaxy S8+ Questions & Answers

Before the Oreo update I could connect to the wifi FPV of drones without having to go into airplane mode. Now, airplane mode is the only way i can connect.
Is there any way to get back to that?

[Q]disable voice calling without airplane mode or airplane mode w/o disabling hotspot

Hi,
Is there a way to get airplane mode working without disabling my portable hotspot? I'm able to enable wifi, bluetooth, etc. upon switching to airplane mode, but the portable hotspot is completely grayed out when airplane mode is enabled. Or is there a way to disable the phone without airplane mode as that's primarily what I'd like to disable as I am using my Epic purely as a PDA with occasional wifi calling. I'm using CM 10.0 and wasn't able to find a thread answering my question. thanks!
Freeze or delete phone.apk in titanium backup.

You'll get an error on every bootup, though it only shows up the once, at least for me when I renamed the APK. But then again, I stay in Airplane Mode.

How do you disable the Phone standby entirely?

I have the Note 8 GT-N5100 which is the 3G version that can make calls. It was the only available version in the market here and I do not use it for its phone functions. I see it eats up 3-4% of the battery power, even without a SIM card in place. How would I turn that off, but still will be able to turn it back on when I need it for calls? Putting it to plane mode shouldn't be the solution as I like it to connect to wifi immediately.

Put it in flight mode and then turn just Wi-Fi on.

I also have the same situation.
I just put the device into flight mode and enable the other connectivity options when required like wifi or bluetooth.
It works very well

Fortunately, flight mode and "wifi on" at the same time is possible with the Note 8....
I use my Note 8 3G without GSM enabled all the time.
Wifi is still on and syncing / exchange push mail works like a charm.
Using the pull down menu to enable and disable connectivity options is convenient enough for me.
Otherwise use something like Tasker to automate 3G availability.

Odd wifi issue.

I'm running stock unrooted now since the 4.3update.
I noticed now that I cannot connect to wifi routers without an Internet connection..
I race rc cars and we have an app. That pulls results from a laptop via wifi... When I attempted to connect I get an error "network connection disabled because Internet is slow" all other Android users can connect including other gs3... I just tried at home to get the same error. If I pull the phone line same error. So it appears I cannot connect to networks that don't have Internet connections..
This is a problem I never had before going official ota Rom...
Is there a setting I should look for in settings that maybe off?
Thanks

Might have discovered the solution.. Won't be able to test till next Wednesday tho. There is setting called Auto network switch...
I can stay on my wifi now with a Warning of no Internet

[Q] Gps lock in airplane mode?

Was just wondering if anyone else is able to get a gps lock in airplane mode. Seems I can only get a fix on my position if i use mobile networks. Once I get a fix I can go into airplane mode and continue getting a fix but initially it won't lock unless i use the mobile network to kickstart it. I'm on an aosp rom btw.
This is no good for me when I'm hiking in the back country.
Can't say I've tried it myself, but there is an app called GPS Airtime that might help you out. It was made for the Droid X but it looks like other people have had success with it on other devices.
This is an on-demand app that will monitor for a satellite signal while you are in Airplane Mode. If it can't find a satellite signal within x seconds, it will temporarily turn off Airplane Mode until one is found. Upon finding a signal it turns Airplane Mode back on again.
It'd be worth looking into, at least.
Yes I've tried gps airtime without success. I guess I would like someone to try it with their s3 to see if my GPS is defective or if it's rom related.
Just download GPS status and put phone in airplane mode to see if a GPS lock is possible without mobile network.

WiFi not connecting automatically after boot

Hello,
yesterday when testing and setting up the OP3 I noticed that, after booting up, the WiFi didn't connect automatically.
I always had to go into WiFi settings, click on my WiFi and select "Connect". From then on, it worked normally.
(Had to boot really often, so it was clear that it was not a "sometimes" incident.)
Does anyone else have this?
I've had problems connecting to WiFi it keeps coming up can't authenticate connection also had LTE issues so I had to enter the wap details myself and that's OK but on the WiFi I've put a ticket in with one plus and waiting for reply..

With OxygenOS 3.1.3, now I don't have the WiFi problem anymore...
I have the issue where i completely loose data, there is no LTE or H. Flipping airplane mode on and off seems to fix the issue?
